A MEMOIR BY THE YOUNGEST RECIPIENT OF THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE As seen on Netflix with David Letterman“I come from a country that was created at midnight. When I almost died it was just after midday.”When the Taliban took control of the Swat Valley in Pakistan, one girl spoke out. Malala Yousafzai refused to be silenced and fought for her right to an education. On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, when she … education.
On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, when she was fifteen, she almost paid the ultimate price. She was shot in the head at point-blank range while riding the bus home from school, and few expected her to survive.
Instead, Malala’s miraculous recovery has taken her on an extraordinary journey from a remote valley in northern Pakistan to the halls of the United Nations in New York. At sixteen, she became a global symbol of peaceful protest and the youngest nominee ever for the Nobel Peace Prize.
I AM MALALA is the remarkable tale of a family uprooted by global terrorism, of the fight for girls’ education, of a father who, himself a school owner, championed and encouraged his daughter to write and attend school, and of brave parents who have a fierce love for their daughter in a society that prizes sons.
I AM MALALA will make you believe in the power of one person’s voice to inspire change in the world.

I enjoyed the book, but found the writing lacking. The story was griping and the character beautiful so I would still recommend it.
The story of the Nobel Prize winning activist for female education in the Swat Valley. Malala is a gritty young woman and her parents are also commendable people. The book gives a moving portrait of Malala and her family, trying to better the lives of people in their area of Pakistan.
This young lady has guts!! Wonderful read.
This book made me a Malala fan! Good to hear her story in her own words.
Although the story is extremely compelling, the teenage prose just didn’t grab me.
This was an easy book to read. It is written in a conversational tone and contains much information about Pakistan, her Swat valley home and the Taliban. In an interesting parallel one of the books that she read was “The Diary of Anne Frank’ She had a co-author who worked w. her on the book. I recommend it to anyone 14 and up.
Every young woman should read this book. Amazing strength and character.
Every woman should read this book and encourage her daughters and granddaughters to read it also.
very well written, takes you on her journey to a life we can’t relate to.
Wonderful read. Anyone who doesn’t come away from reading this with a love of this girl and a new empathy for her country doesn’t have a heart. Highly recommended.
I highly recommend this book in an effort to learn more about another culture, the determination that Malala’s parents demonstrated in order to get their daughter an education in a culture which has, historically, limited education of girls. Malala has continued to do great things since the Taliban attempted to murder her and the world should …
