FROM THE PUBLISHER: Every time Allie Brosh posts something new on her hugely popular blog Hyperbole and a Half the internet rejoices. Touching, absurd, and darkly comic, Allie Brosh’s highly anticipated book Hyperbole and a Half showcases her unique voice, leaping wit, and her ability to capture complex emotions with deceptively simple illustrations. This full-color, beautifully illustrated … beautifully illustrated edition features more than fifty percent new content, with ten never-before-seen essays and one wholly revised and expanded piece as well as classics from the website like, “The God of Cake,” “Dogs Don’t Understand Basic Concepts Like Moving,” and her astonishing, “Adventures in Depression,” and “Depression Part Two,” which have been hailed as some of the most insightful meditations on the disease ever written.
Brosh’s debut marks the launch of a major new American humorist who will surely make even the biggest scrooge or snob laugh. We dare you not to.
FROM THE AUTHOR:
This is a book I wrote. Because I wrote it, I had to figure out what to put on the back cover to explain what it is. I tried to write a long, third-person summary that would imply how great the book is and also sound vaguely authoritative–like maybe someone who isn’t me wrote it–but I soon discovered that I’m not sneaky enough to pull it off convincingly. So I decided to just make a list of things that are in the book:
Pictures
Words
Stories about things that happened to me
Stories about things that happened to other people because of me
Eight billion dollars
Stories about dogs
The secret to eternal happiness
*These are lies. Perhaps I have underestimated my sneakiness

Question of the week on Buzz: Which book do you wish was twice as long? definitely Hyperbole and a Half! While reviewing various award-winning stories, I saw this book and decided to check it out. I see photos from this book turned in to memes all over the internet and they are pretty funny. After finishing, I can honestly say that I love this …
Amazing introspection on the human condition especially on topics such as mental illness, anxiety, and maybe the best essay I’ve ever read on depression. Despite the visual format the content is pretty meaty and even heavy. Emotionally I could only read one or two stories at a time. Unique and unexpected. PS Don’t judge this one by the cover!
Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brown takes the reader on a hilarious ride to her past and the many antics of her life. She also discusses dogs, depression, moving, procrastination, cake, and a evil goose attack! So many other things also come up in other funny glimpses of the author’s life. She also tackles deep subjects in a way that shows how …
I loved this graphic memoir so hard.
Done in rage comic style, the illustrations are simple, but the thoughts and stories Allie Brosh shares are by turns hilarious and profound. Brosh’s visual anecdotes, from stories about her wacky childhood to her dog to being an adult, kept me laughing. The expressions on the faces she draws are so spot-on, …
Currently Reading and I love it!
This book had me chuckling a lot but I must admit that I didn’t love it enough to spend the time reading the whole book. That is probably my loss because most of the reviewers thought it was hilarious and loved it.
This book includes some of the funniest and most twisted observations regarding everyday life that I’ve come upon…it’s fabulous. The illustrations compliment the subject matter perfectly.
Allie, sorry if anything in this review is grammatically incorrect. Please know that I absolutely want to help make you famous (you deserve to be). As …
You know who Allie Brosh is. Allie Brosh single-handedly gave birth to a good number of memes in the late 2000s that you have definitely seen. Brosh ran a blog that has been (sadly) inactive since 2013. She is also one of the funniest story tellers I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.
While on holiday in London one summer, I found a novel of …
Ridiculously funny. I laughed out loud so often while reading this that people looked at me like I was insane.
