Piper Skye is rock ‘n’ roll. She’s party all night, sleep all day. She’s get wild and be free. Or she would be if she had the time. And the energy. And not being so awkward would probably help, too. As the owner of a thriving dessert business, Piper spends her days at school and her nights elbow deep in batter and frosting. She’s confident her hard work and sacrifice will pay off as long as she … sacrifice will pay off as long as she stays focused and sticks to the plan.
Jake Hyde is a workaholic with a jaded outlook on life. Surrounding himself with employees he considers his brothers, he long ago made the decision that his custom garage would be his focus.
Fate, as it often does, has other ideas. Plus, a killer sense of humor.
Thrown together by coincidence, the gruff mechanic and the sweet as sin baker have instant sparks. Suddenly, all of their carefully made plans have taken a giant freakin’ left turn.
And they do it on the back of a Harley.
Warning: This book is intended for adults. It contains frequent adult language and situations.
Don’t try this at home.
At least not without stretching first.
Maybe keep the sneakers on for traction, too.
This is book one in a series, but each book will be a STANDALONE with a new couple. NO cliffhanger.*

Hyde and Seek by Layla Frost is the first book in the Hyde Series. This is the story of Piper Skye and Jake Hyde.
Piper his looking to get her Van fix with a set up that keeps the back on it cooler for bakery deliveries. She goes to the Hyde garage where she ends up meeting Jake. Jake doesn’t say much and tries to fight his growing attraction but it doesn’t take to long before he doesn’t let Piper out of his sites.
Loved it.
OMG!! Why didn’t anyone tell me that this hot series existed? Jacoby “Jake” Hyde met Piper “Sweets” Skye accidentally on purpose. Both had an instant attraction but neither knew what to do with it. Piper is a a baker and a college student that has walked away from the life her mother planned for her. Jake is the owner of Hyde Mechanics shop and is in his mid-30’s. He has avoided a real relationship due to the groupies and biker chicks.
Despite all of factors that should could keep them apart, Jake cannot seem stay away from Piper. After the hot and cold temperament from Jake, Piper doesn’t know if she should stick with the one person she’s attracted to or pursue a relationship with Jakes’s friend Rhys, bar owner of Rye.
The people guys that work with Jake are family and when a real threat is coming at Piper, the family rallies around her, takes care of her. This book has a surprising outcome with a lot of sexy scenes mixed in. Mr. Bossy Pants, Jake, is hard in the right places, protective and sweet all rolled into a tattooed package.
This is the first book I have read from this author and I will definitely continue with this series. I love the guys at Hyde and I have to know more about all of these big, hard and lovable guys.
This book instantly drew me in– I loved Piper and how confident and strong she was. She didn’t let the little crap bother her! She was a fantastic heroine! Loved loved loved!!!
The whole macho, possessive, loving man so hot. I continuously squeed and giggled this whole book. Wonderful spicy and sweet with a bit of tang.
I’ve had this book on my kindle for several months and I’m mad I didn’t read this sooner. I am leaving my review voluntarily. It is book 1 in a series.
Triggers: stalking, attempted murder, age gap
**spoilers**
I don’t want to give too many details. Good characters, even the secondary ones were interesting. Sweet story with plenty of steamy parts. Some drama with ex’s (from h and H) but no cheating.
Piper wants to be independent and run a bakery business. Her mom is a money obsessed person who wants Piper to marry well.
Jake is a jaded older guy who initially while attracted to Piper, thinks she is playing games.
Eventually these two get together. Some drama, growing pains in their relationship but true love wins. Looking forward to reading about the other characters.
Not only do I need the entire series at my disposal for numerous rereads ASAP, I just need to ruminate on how amazing Jake and Piper are! Opposites yet mirror images of one another, and with enough potential drama to keep things super interesting if they let it in the door, Hyde and Seek had me hooked from the very first page!
It had intrigue, sass, feistiness, loyalty, fierceness, sweetness in more than one way, and so much more!
Piper is unapologetically herself, knowing her own mind and who she wants to be, but is so gosh darn adorable and endearing and I wish I was cool enough to be her friend!
Jake is alpha and grumpy and hot and bossy and so sweet it could give you cavities, but luckily, I always remember to brush my teeth, so bring on the gooey center!
All in all, epic read, and I cannot wait to fall in love with everyone else even more than I have when they all hopefully get their own books!
This is my first read of Layla Frost’s and I will be honest I picked it up because it kept popping up in my recommendations when I couldn’t decide what the hell to read. All I knew was I wanted a bad ass possessive, alpha and this apparently met at all the crossroads. And since reading it I went to check some reviews and man do they sum it up perfectly. But because some of them were negative and some were positive and things they hated I didn’t mind and vice versa I am going to try explain my feels here.
This is very Kristen Ashley ish. Even the long winded descriptions of things I just couldn’t give a flying umm well yeah about, her makeup was flawless would do me rather than 2 pages on how her smokey eyes were shaded. I also don’t care about the decor. So parts of this book just felt like too many words to get to the good stuff. There was a lot of “babe” as a word for everything, negative or positive but since I use a certain four letter word in a similar context I don’t really mind that.
Everyone and I mean everyone, man, woman, poodle seemed to be madly in love with the cupcake scented goddess. This was a little monotonous. We get it she’s amazing couldn’t just two or three people think she’s perfect rather than everyone and their random relatives? As a character I liked her, obviously I wouldn’t let my husband get close enough to sniff her but I thought she was nice and I liked her self confidence and ability to maturely deal with the cattiness around her.
Jake was exactly what I read the book looking for. He was growling, possessive, protective, sweet, loving alpha extraordinaire. I liked him and his band of mechanic friends. We could have stopped at them and the book would have been great. I didn’t need the random club owner, the rockstar besties and the other people that he was close to to prove his coolness. Especially since they all fell in love with Piper.
The drama was good. I honestly had no clue that was who the stalker was and I did spend the whole book trying to figure it out and I liked the way it played out. So although I can completely see why it was a miss for a few of my GR friends it was exactly what I was looking for except maybe a little longer than I was after. Although if you took out too many of those overly descriptive sentences we may have had a massive steaming hot sexy times to actual story imbalance. Not that I would be complaining because damn was Jake hot. Can’t wait to pick up the series and hopefully see Kase get a good run for his money.
I simply adored this book. I thought Jake and his “sweets” were perfect for one another. I loved the push and pull between them, and I really hope the secondary characters each will have a book. There’s a dark under layer in the book that comes out closer to the end, and one scene that may trigger some readers. However, it was handled well by the author. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
I just absolutely loved Jake and Piper.
Piper is such a perfect heroine and someone that I would probably be in real life. She is a rocker, rebellious bada$$ hidden under a layer of perfectly constructed layers. She’s a baker with a love for all things rock n roll. I’m certain Layla Frost wrote this character based on my personal life. (story for another day).
Jake is swoon-tastic. Protective alpha hero with tattoos, muscular bod, and a motorcycle. Seriously, what’s not to love? Growly, broody personality with a side of sarcasm for his “bros”. *fans self*
I loved the storyline and the plot twist. Although, it wasn’t fully unexpected, I appreciated how the story rolled together to include a little suspense and instalove, with scorching sexy times. The only thing that cost this book a star was the back and forth on the timeline. The fade to black into the next chapter or section lost me at times.
I love the secondary characters all most as much as the main characters.
This is a great book to start the series and I am looking forward to diving into more of Layla’s work soon.
Loved this story! In fact, I think I’ll go back and re-read it again.
Hyde and Seek is one crazy ride that you need to hold on tight for, as Jake and Piper are going to throw all that and a bit more at you. Their story has the right amount of sweet with the exact amount of rough, sexy and bossy to meet all your cravings. A fated meeting, thoughts and desires that cannot be ignored and a soul deep connection that will not allow for these two to move out of each others paths. A book that had me on the edge of my seat not wanting to put it down for a minute. Jake and Piper had me yearning for their story and falling further and further under their spell. A book that gave you an appetite for all that was them, it was passionate, action packed, witty and had you in so deep that you weren’t sure if you hadn’t been sucked down into the rabbit hole with them. A story that packed a punch and had you riding on the wild side. If there were ever two characters that you could truly fall in love with it was Jake and Piper.
I really enjoyed Layla’s debut novel! I’ve already read the first 2 books of her Four series, but wanted to check out her other stuff. I loved Piper. She’s mature for her age, badass, and didn’t cower at the thought of Jake’s past with other women. I found her conversations with herself, both out loud and in her head, to be quite amusing. I also really liked Jake, but who doesn’t love a hot, successful, biker dude?! I also enjoyed the suspense plot line added in and didn’t guess who the bad guy was, so added bonus.
I will say, I took a star off because I found it got kind of old how obsessed with Piper literally every male who comes across her is. But that toned down some after the beginning, so it’s bearable. I also got some Anna vibes from 50 Shades with Piper, since for someone who was originally a virgin she sure jumped into being ready for sex every second of everyday so quickly with like, no awkward first experience. But still a great read!
I absolutely adored watching Jake and Piper fall in love and figure things out between them. Jake is swoony yummy and Piper is sweet and cute and I just wanna be her best friend. Or wait… Be her so I can have Jake’s focus all on me. (happy sigh).
This is a book I’ve enjoyed visiting over and over again.
Audiobook: Narrators – Lauren Sweet and Alex Kydd
Wow! These narrators totally nailed this book! They were exactly as I expected Piper and Jake to sound. Even when they were doing the opposite sex voices they were still very nicely done. There are a lot of characters included in this story and each one had their own unique “voice”. Once I started listening I didn’t want to stop.
This book is everything I look for when I want a feel good romance with a strong heroine and an alpha hero. Piper isn’t a doormat to Jake’s controlling ways and I loved how they were able to communicate their way through their arguments. Theirs’s isn’t a rose colored glasses story but one filled with a gritty rawness that highlights each character’s individual strengths. The chemistry between Piper and Jake is off the charts scorching. Secondary characters are to die for and I swear this author needs to pick up the pace and give us more!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a biker hero (this isn’t a motorcycle club story), a sassy, smart heroine, and a parade of hotness to round it all out.
OMFG this book was amazing. I can’t wait for you all to read and love this as much as I did. Alpha Romance Stories at its best
Being a big Kristen Ashley’s fan means I’m always on the lookout for books that give me the same feeling as KA’s books does. The writer Layla Frost was one of the writers that was mentioned a lot when ask for other alpha man stories. So I finally decided to read one of her books and I’m so happy that I did because I LOVED it very much. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to read her other books immediately after finishing this one! If you love alpha men then you definitely have to try this book!
Piper may be young but she knows what she wants and the last thing that she wants is to make her mother happy by marrying a rich but boring young man. No, Piper dreams of baking delicious desserts and selling it to people who loves eating them. And of course, she wants a man but Piper wants of an alpha man who is tough and even a little bit wild. Because Piper isn’t really the lady that her mother wants her to be. No, Piper likes tattoos, piercings and yes…..alpha men.
But sadly between her homework for college and her baking, Piper doesn’t have much time for socializing or dating. But then she meets her ‘dream’ man Jack Hyde in a garage. And although Piper has the impression that he likes her too, she isn’t sure about it. So then begins a time where Jack is giving her a lot of mixed feelings but he’s not the only one interested in her! When other men are making their move on Piper, Jack soon has to decide if he wants Piper or not!
‘Hyde and Seek’ is a story filled with handsome men! Yes, almost every men in this story is handsome. But except of that I can tell you that I really loved this story. The main characters, Jack and Piper were a wonderful couple. Jack was really alpha, from speaking to acting like one and Piper was really sweet but she was never too sweet. There was a bit of an age difference between them. I can understand that Jack was worried about it and I appreciated the fact that he was worried. It made it feel more real to me. And although there was an instant attraction between Jack and Piper. It wasn’t a story about he sees her and he wants her and he gets her. No, the writer built it up until just the right time. And the sex scenes … well I can tell you that they were very hot.
And then you have Jack’s friends/brothers. I just loved them. You really felt the connection between the men. The friendship. They were really there for each other. I didn’t expect the little suspense in the story but it certainly have the story something extra and the fact that the person totally surprised me, well I really adore that as a reader.
I’m very glad that I discovered this writer and I can’t wait to read her other books!
So if you’re a Kristen Ashley fan or if you love alpha men that you definitely have to try this book.
**Gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review**
Ooh where do I even start. I absolutely loved Hyde and Seek. I fell in love with Piper Skye; I fell in love with Jacoby Hyde; and then I fell in love with their story. The emotion in this book just flows from the pages, if there was tension, you felt it; sadness, yep; excitement, hells yes; want, tenfold! From the outside looking in, Piper and Jake couldn’t be more perfect for each other. They just fit, like a gear or the perfect cupcake recipe. Their relationship starts off touchy, and when they can’t fight it anymore it’s just like breathing. There are so many things I didn’t expect, that I was ecstatic about because for me, that means its original, and nothing like I’ve read before.
A friend contacted me, recommending Layla Frost’s Hyde & Seek, and since I didn’t know what to read next I said, why not. Boy am I glad I said yes. So thank you Sarah for the recommendation and thank you Layla for taking a chance on me.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I cannot wait to see what Layla has up her sleeve for Kase & Harlow.
