#1 New York Times bestselling author Patricia Briggs invites readers to follow her into the seductive realm of the Alpha and Omega series… either…

Patrica Brigg’s does an excellent book on Mercy. It keeps you interested till the end and then begging for more. Excellent author have read all her books!
I love Patricia Briggs and her characters Anna and Charles. Always a must read author.
4 stars – It was really good
Charles and Anna have been tasked with meeting the European wolves about Bran’s controversial proposition to reveal werewolves to humans. While most of the alphas seem agreeable, the most feared and controlling of them isn’t and he makes it well known. There is also the issue of the vampire attacks against Anna.
I really enjoyed this one. Anna is becoming more confident in herself, her abilities, and in her relationship with Charles. They are more of a team now than in the previous book. There are still a few times where Anna’s PTSD rears its head and interferes with what is going on, but they work it out together.
Another thing I found great about this book is that we finally get to see some of the European pack members and omegas. I love learning about how different packs interact in different areas of the world. This is also the first introduction to the fae in this series. Dana is helping moderate at the summit so we get to see both the good and bad of that. I found her fascinating and enjoyed learning about who and what she was. Patricia Briggs does an amazing job with creating a rich and fascinating world, and this book really shows that with all the new character and races.
Trigger Warnings: Anna was beaten and raped repeatedly. She was also turned against her will.
Anna is growing and Charles is doing his dad’s dirty work again. Vampires, beasts, and various treachery.
Bran, the leader of the North American werewolves wants to make a big change. He wants to announce their existence to the human world. He has his reasons for doing this. But before he makes the announcement, he wants to give the other werewolf alphas from Europe and other continents the chance to express their concerns or questions about this. So he organises a ‘conference’ with them, but because of his son Charles bad feelings about this, he decides to send Charles and Anna to this conference. Everything is going to plan until the day that Anna and 2 other people are attack by a pack of vampires. From that moment on, things are getting more dangerous and people are getting killed. It is up to Charles and Anna to hunt the person behind these attacks because it becomes clear that the vampires are hired by someone else, someone close to the werewolves, who wants these people dead and who also wants Anna. Can they find the person on time or will they be too late?
I’m so happy that I decided to read this series because I’m really enjoying it. With each story Anna is growing more into her powers and is conquering her fear for dominant, alpha werewolves. It’s wonderful to see her become a powerful omega werewolf and see her have more confident in herself and in her role as Charles’s mate. The relationship between her and her mate Charles is also becoming stronger and their bond is getting deeper. They are still getting used to each other and Charles is still careful with his dominant side around her but their wolves are always there to help them when there is a problem. Their wolf sides don’t know fear and don’t have doubts about anything.
The story was again told from both POV’s. It was very interesting to learn more about this paranormal world, that is filled with werewolves, witches, fae, trolls and vampires.
Just like in the previous story, this story had some interesting twist and turns in it (most that I didn’t expect) and I loved that in my books. The story was very entertaining, filled with emotions, fear and lost but it also had some humour in it. The story was never too dark or dramatic. The focus of the story was more on the emotional side of the mating then the sexual side of it but I had no problem with that. I really loved the dynamic between Anna and Charles and the secondary characters were great too.
I’m already curious about the next story in this series.
This one isn’t one of my favorite installments of the series, mostly because it was just good. I like the addition of the Arthurian legends, but definitely was shocked he could kill his mate. AND had her tortured? A quick kill I could have accepted more readily. They also didn’t explain why they didn’t try turning her if he wanted an Omega.
Hmmm.
I love this series
Love these books
This is an incredible series. For me it is special because I used to live in the area that the story is based.
I love everything Patricia Briggs writes. Her stories are well told and I look forward to each new book she puts out.
Oh, Patricia, you delicious genius! You’re my spirit animal!
This is one of the few authors of the paranormal genre that can still make me fly through the pages, spilling popcorn down my shirt, guessing till the last minute. Her dialogue is sharp and clever, her characters achingly real, and her plots masterfully thiughtout. I hesitate to call it a paranormal romance since it isn’t about getting your rocks off and slobbering over the werehunk’s perfect abs *yawn* there’s actually a lot more depth to the characters which makes them feel so absolutely real that you’re half convinced werewolves do in fact exist and there’s more to the genre than a cheap little sex fest. It’s true romance in that the connection between Charles and Anna is something far more intricate and poignant.
I probably read Cry Wolf in about 4 hours—literally didn’t even want to stop for a pee break! I was that hooked! I love this series probably even more than the Mercy Thompson Series (please don’t fling the spoiled tomatoes just yet) because I love getting to watch Anna evolve into a badass. Though, unlike Mercy, she’s more of the subtle badass.
Anna’s new to the werewolf world, still tentative (though not timid anymore) has a ton still to figure out about what exactly she is, what being an omega means, and is still navigating her new relationship with Charles Cornick. I love their relationship. Love watching them learn to trust each other more and love how their marriage makes them stronger together. I love the peace they give each other; I think all couples can learn something from these two.
Of course the action and the mystery—the intricacies of the plot as Anna and Charles try to figure out who exactly the vampires are targeting and why—makes this just another perfect drop kick in a series of fantastic ass-kicking! And I love how this story ties in with the the world of Mercy Thompson.
I am so hooked on this world and I’m just devouring these books. Hunting Ground was another great addition to this world and I am just loving Anna and Charles. These two! My heart! I adore Charles and his mother hen ways but I also love how he knows Anna needs to be her own person and doesn’t try to stifle that in any way. We love a hero who knows his heroines worth and lifts her up. And Anna is just… so wonderful. I love her and I love her strength and how far she has come. These two are still trying to find their footing and learn how to communicate but I love being along for the ride. It’s such an interesting dynamic because they are so clearly in love with one another but they haven’t quite nailed the communication thing just yet. I also loved the mystery aspect this brought and the way it wove in some of my favorite mythology. Also… Tom and Moira have my heart. Hunting Ground was another great read and I can’t wait to see what’s up next.
I have read all of Patricia Briggs books. The characters are great.
Patrica Briggs makes werewolves a real part of the world. They have problems we can relate to. Their difficulties within the pack and with things outside the pack are explained just enough to feel a connection rather than a lecture. Open a book and step on in!
Another fabulous series from Patricia Briggs. This is a spin-off from the Mercedes Thompson, but gives more insight into side characters from the Mercy series. I love being able to see more from them. This series focuses more on romance than Mercy’s world, but it still delivers a solid story. I love the hero and heroine and find their story super endearing.
***Content warning: this is not a sexual story, but there is a vague sex scene in it, so I feel like I need to put the warning out there, in case you don’t care for any of that funny business. It is not graphic, but it is there, so fair warning.
Love everything in the Mercy thompson world.
Love this series
The follow up to Cry Wolf does not disappoint at all!
If you thought book one was action-packed, well you haven’t seen anything until you read Hunting Ground. I love Anna’s character more after reading Hunting Ground, because she’s given so many opportunities to show her strengths.
Even though Anna and Charles are mates in this book, they still have issues they’re working through. It wasn’t all *boom* we’re mates and everything’s perfect. I think they’re going to be working on issues throughout the series, or at the very least, the next few books. I’m excited to see that play out.
Coming from the Mercy Thompson world, it’s so much fun getting a glimpse into Bran and that side of things. This series stands on its own, sure. But, reading it with or after the Mercy Thompson series is so rewarding.
Out of this series so far, Hunting Ground was definitely my favorite installment!
We are brought back into the world of Anna and Charles just a month after Cry Wolf ended. The pressing matter of the wolves needing to get ahead of the bullet and “come out” to the public is a major hot point in their ranks. The Marrok has already made his decision but as a concession to the European wolves, he’s arranged a conference in Seattle so that their concerns can be heard.
The thing I love most about this series is the tension. It’s not sexual tension or anything. It’s because of the pack mentality. Everything about dominant versus submissive wolves and alphas versus non-alphas. With these creatures constantly on the cusp of severe violence, their every encounter is tense and volatile.
Well, take that little issue and picture this – a large scale meeting of alphas from around the world. Alphas that don’t all particularly like each other. It’s a sensitive situation and made for an incredibly exciting piece in the series! We have ulterior motives flying around all willy nilly. Mix that with aggression and already present mistrust and you have yourself a fantastic book cocktail – filled with lots of action and mysteries that you will never see coming.
On top of that, we have the story of Anna and Charles – the story I love sooooo much. That “warm glow” I referenced in my previous review is still there. It hasn’t been very long so she certainly still has issues but she’s trying to work through them. And Charles, Mr I’m-Uber-Patient-Because-I’m-Over-200-Years-Old is all good with the waiting. He’s a perfect match for her, a woman so damaged that she has trouble seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. He stands by her. He’s there for her. He does what he can to help her work through her “stuff”. They have a great break through moment in this book that is so incredibly sweet that I just wanted to cry.
There’s also a moment in this book where I was cheering for Anna! I wanted to just jump up and yell “f**kin’ right!!!”. You’ll be proud of her. It was an epic moment!!
And the creepiest moment in this entire book:
—————————————
“Anna Latham Cornick, mate of Charles Cornick, Omega of the Aspen Creek Pack. Wolf. Sister. Daughter. Lover. Beloved…”
—————————————
Trust me, once you read the book, you’ll know what I am talking about and you’ll be seriously creeped the eff out too!
Overall, I am giving Hunting Ground 5 stars! This was a wonderful read from beginning to end!
A different take on Were wolves. I couldn’t put this down and read Charles and Anna’s story in a week.
