If you know me you know why I selected this audiobook. I love dogs and will read and listen to audiobooks that have dogs in the story. This has Luke Michaels and his German Shepard relaxing at the end of a camping trip when he sees a woman being thrown from a bridge. Luke and his dog rescue people because that is their job so Luke jumps into the water and rescues the Megan Witherspoon who he later finds out is a teacher. This has everything; murder, being on the run not knowing who to trust, another dog that is owned by the woman and of course romance.
An intense romantic suspense.
Luke was just waking up while camping when he hears his dog, Shep, growl out in danger. What he saw was not what anyone could’ve expected. Someone was throwing a chain bound woman off the bridge into the river and leaving her to drown. He couldn’t just let her die as a rescuer and dove in after her. Megan woke up not remember how she got where she was or why and scared. So, having saved her, now Luke and Shep have to keep Megan alive.
This is the first book in the Everyday Heroes Series and it is really well-written and developed. I truly enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to the next one in the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Luke Michaels didn’t get the relaxing time he was planning when Shep alerted him to a woman being thrown from a bridge. Even though he had taken a weekend off to go camping, his search and rescue instincts kicked in and he ran to save the drowning woman.
I love stories where the dog is every bit as much of a hero as his human!
This was an exciting book right from the start. Megan had no idea why the men wanted to kill her and couldn’t remember where they abducted her. She was a teacher. Why did they want her dead? She better remember because they were not finished with her yet.
Shep was amazing. He was a smart, well-trained dog. But even he was put in his place by a female. Actually, it was easier to let Lady have her own way. Men! I liked the slow building romance between Megan and Luke. I was rooting for them to figure who was after Megan so she would be safe, and able to get to know Luke better.
I highly recommend this action-packed, fast-paced mystery.
I live this author. I have ready many of her books and she never disappoints.
Once you have started, it is just not easy to stop! They way in which the plot develops is very captive.
A good mystery that delved deeper than what was seen on the surface. The romance was predictable but the mystery was good.
I
Book 1 of this series and it was terrific. It’s a clean read with mystery, second chances and Luke to love. In many books, I’ve loved a Luke character and this man is no different. He has charisma, heart and is caring to those he loves. He meets Megan in a mysterious way as she is chained and thrown off a bridge. Wow! That’s some camping trip. I enjoyed the story as it held my interest and can be read in an afternoon. I often prefer a shorter book rather than tackle 400 pages. Thanks for a wonderful story-line.
I really enjoyed the plot of the book. Loved the characters. I know it is a romance, but the romance was a bit quick for me. I would have liked to see them devlope as a couple, not out of tragedy.
Modern day mystery
Light and enjoyable.
Not my typical read but it was really good. I didn’t want to put it down!
I usually enjoy Margaret Daley’s stories. Good characters and some drama. I like that the characters count on God to help them through their difficulties
I couldn’t put this book down. It kept me guessing to the end!
Wow! From the first page to the last page it kept me turning pages! Good mystery with unexpected developments.
Great book! I love mysteries
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and promptly recommended it to a fellow Kindle reader
This book grabbed my interest quickly. I enjoyed the characters and the story. I would recommend this book. It was gripping, with many twists and turns. An enjoyable suspence novel!!
It’s a short read but entertaining light read. It is somewhat predictable. Parts of it seem unrealistic.
This book is so realistic that I wouldn’t have been surprised if it were a true story. Loved it, well done.
