Ready Or NotMoira Dunne is a witch–the quantum physics kind. Time and space are her playthings. Which might explain why her one-night stand from a hundred years ago has turned up to “claim” her–and request her family’s assistance with the war he’s brewing. But the more she learns about Connlan Kayrs, the more she comes to think this is normal behavior for him. . .There’s Nowhere To HideWhen … .
There’s Nowhere To Hide
When Conn and Moira tumbled on the moonlit grass, Conn hadn’t meant to mark her as his mate for all time. She was only twenty! But it wasn’t easy to wait for her. It was even harder to forget her. So when he finally returns for his wicked-hot witch, he’s ready to let the sparks flying. Even if he burns up in flames. . .

First series I ever read about paranormals, been a fan ever since!
Love this author!
Zanetti’s heroines rock! Physicist and witch Moira recognizes another free spirit when she sees one, and happily gives him a tumble. Vampire Conn marked the amazing woman, then ran, only to be drawn back again when he needs her help. Claiming her could kill them both.
Hunted is the third book in the PNR series Dark Protectors. This is Connlan Kayrs’ and Moira Dunne’s book. He’s a vampire and she’s the witch he accidentally marked as his mate over one hundred years earlier.
I really liked Conn. He was all growlly and bossy and extremely protective of those he loved and cared for. Under no circumstances was he going to let something happen to Moira, and he was determined to finally bring his mate home.
Moria was a little stubborn at first, as have been all the female leads in this series. She had secrets and was dishonest by omission, but as the story progressed I understood why. Moira really did care about Conn, however she was scared of him trying to make her into something she wasn’t.
The Realm is still at war with the Kurjans and demons, and this storyline has continued from the first book throughout the series. I’m still intrigued by the ongoing Janie, Zane and Kalin plot. Katie and Jordan’s book is next, and I’m anxious to see how they will fix Katie’s problem since she’s been infected with the virus and still cannot shift.
It’s not easy being mated to one of the Kayrs brothers. Sure, they love you to the moon and back, but they aren’t afraid to bully or muscle their way into winning an argument. Admittedly, none has been worse than Talen, the hero of the first book. But we see hints of the alpha-hole in them all.
I had hoped Conn would be better. After all, when he accidentally mated Moira a century ago, he actually acquiesced to her request for time apart so she could train as a witch. He let her do what she needed as a witch with a powerful potential in her line. Which made it all the more disappointing when he started pulling the caveman routine here. He isn’t nearly as bad as Talen, thank goodness, but I had hoped he would give his mate a bit more credit. She is a lethal enforcer for her coven –a trained killer– but he still tries to put her in a bubble to “protect” her. It annoyed me.
I still enjoyed the book, despite my annoyance with Conn. That’s thanks to the great world-building and the fascinating series storyline. There is a lot happening in this installment. The primary plot involves the witches. Someone is using magic to take out members of the ruling council. Moira is on the hit list –and she wants to figure out who is targeting them –and why. This, as the witches consider aligning with the demons against the vampires. That puts Moira in the terrible position of potentially having to choose between her family and her mate.
Meanwhile, we’re seeing the set-up for Katie and Jordan’s book. Katie still can’t shift, prompting her to take desperate measures. –And we’re seeing more of the Kalin-Zane-Janie interaction. It’s amazing how their scenes always manage to steal every book for me! I know Kalin is bad, bad, bad, but there is just something about him that makes me want to see his redemption. (Maybe I need my head examined.)
The sex is hot and the characters are well defined. Conn does make some progress before the story is over, but he doesn’t quite hit the mark for me. I struggle with imbalance of power in the relationships in these books. Even with Moira being the most kick-ass of witches, Conn still has to win. At least she gets a couple of small victories. I guess that’s progress.
Rating: B
Although the readers of this series know, and have even met, Moira, we haven’t gotten to know her in any real way. We know she’s a young witch who accidentally mated with Conn 100 years ago. We know she’s fated to be a powerful witch due to her being the seventh sister of the seventh sister. We know she’s very smart and hard working and resistant to being a vampire mate. In this book, we also learn she is so much more…she’s a badass!
Conn is a fierce warrior. He’s the Kayrs brother who leads the battles, who is known throughout the world to be the toughest and most formidable of not only the vampires, but of all creatures. He’s bullheaded and feels the need to protect and command those around him. That’s exactly why Moira has kept the fact that she is a protector of her own kind, a warrior in her own right, from her mate for the last few decades. There’s no hiding once the century Conn agreed to wait for her is over.
Moira and Conn have more than chemistry. With her being a witch and having a sway over molecules and matter, his vampire nature to take on traits of his mate have given him some of his own “magic”. That makes this pair a powerhouse never seen before. Now, if they can only learn to work together instead of trying to control each other.
While I understand the secrets Moira felt she had to keep, it got to be annoying at a certain point. Yes, Conn can be very controlling and macho, but it’s quite obvious he’d do anything to protect Moira. That includes not betraying her confidence if she were to let him in a bit more. Of course, for his part, Conn needs to learn to trust in Moira’s abilities and decision-making skills.
From the first chapter, this story is a non-stop roller coaster that kept me turning pages. I love this series and this author!

Hunted is Con and Moira’s story, and I absolutely loved Con. He was smart, sweet, a little bossy, and a 100% sexy. I went through the book either loving Moira or wanting to punch her. Sometimes those feelings changed every paragraph. I get the general theme of these stories is it takes the girl the entire book to actually trust the guy, but I was hoping that being mated for 100 years already would of changed that a bit. Not so much. Overall a good story and I’m looking forward to the next book.
3.5 stars
Connlan has waited to be with Moira for over 100 years. He finally goes to get her and finds her in danger. A new enemy is capturing Coven members and teleporting them away.
I have been curious about these two since the first book. While they have been mated for over 100 years they haven’t ever really been a couple so there’s a lot to work out in the beginning. I quite enjoyed these two though. I liked how they can both kick-ass. I
In this book we finally got to learn about the witches and the coven. I really like how their magic is based on physics. It is very unique. We also are seeing more of the demons in this one. I am really curious about Nick and Simone’s past because clearly something happened between them.
Now to see what is going to happen next in the Realm.
Good book! I really liked the story of Moira and Connlan. They and their relationship was definitely amusing and their dynamic was entertaining. I’m definitely invested in this series and it is getting better. The more I delve into the series, the more I start to like the characters from previous books.
This book had lots of action, romance and danger. I believe it could be read alone but since I have been reading it as a series it was pretty enjoyable.
Conn and Moira were both pretty strong people all on their own but together? They were a powerhouse although it seemed that the century that they were apart caused some separations when it came to working as a team. They each had strong loyalties to their clans” that tried to pull them apart. Conn had the right idea about that though. They needed to put themselves TOGETHER as first priority and then work the rest out together. And it’s going to take some time and some work to get there.
Moira for all of her posturing is into Conn, but she just WON’T be his duty. She would deny it to anyone what she wants to be important to him in a deeper way. Conn being a warrior guy, doesn’t see that at first but when he does things start to begin to go his way. Well, until bad guys and gals try to get in his way. That’s when more action and more danger kicks in. During that time a traitor or two are revealed and fought.
There is a H.E.A. for now for the M.C.’s because they are finally on the same page. They will have their heated moments together both in anger and in sex. I really did like that Conn was so open about wanting to protect Moira but he also knew that she had unusual destiny and he didn’t want to change her. He wanted her to be happy and to be herself. But there is still a unresolved virus out there and other dangers, so the adventures do continue. If you consider this a cliffhanger, I suppose you could but since it’s clearly a series I don’t. You have the choice to stop right here and enjoy what has gone on or you can continue on. Since I’ve enjoyed this series so much, you know my choice was to continue on.
My God I love this series so much. With each new book the plot just gets deeper and juicier. In this book(book 3) Conn is heading to Ireland to bring home his mate. He has given her 100 years to get use to the ideal of being his mate and to finish her witch training and education. But it won’t be easy. Moira is upset that Conn left her for 100 years and she doesn’t want to be another one of his obligations she wants love.
