Love love love this series !!!!
This is a perfect mixture of hot, sexy hero, strong-willed heroine, and action-packed romantic suspense. It took my breath away.
Combine hunky alpha werewolves and covert police officers and you get a SWAT team. One the fights bad guys and saves lives. This combines all of that and adds in an inquisitive journalist and a fated mate to make a very good read.
Hungry Like the Wolf is book one in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series by Paige Tyler. We are introduced to several dreamy hunky alpha wolves; who make up the Dallas SWAT team.
Action, suspense, and romance.
Hungry Like the Wolf starts off slow, picks up, slows down, and picks up again. I wasn’t overly impressed or drawn into the world and story. The world building wasn’t bad, but we just don’t get much on the world building until later, much later, in the story when we have a mini-info dump. I did like the concept of Ms. Tyler’s werewolves. I found it intriguing how they became werewolves. It’s not the norm that we typically see with a bite, a curse, or born as a werewolf. I appalled the different take on werewolves.
As for the characters: We are introduced to a lot of sexy SWAT guys. Their is no shortage of dreamy men to think about especially when they are half naked. I enjoyed all the SWAT guys introduced. Then their’s Mackenzie the reporter. I’m not a fan of reports. I just have a hard time with them and Mac was no different. She was an ok character. I didn’t hate her, but I didn’t like her either. I was indifferent. I will say their was one part in the story that really made me not care for Mac. At this point she’s gotten to know the SWAT team and they are friends in a way, so when she puts her career above everything else and don’t give a dame about who it will hurt or how it will effect lives I wanted to throttle her and I felt so sorry for Gage. Last, our sexy wolf SWAT leader Gage. I loved him. He has a great head on his shoulders and a protective streak that is enduring. I like how he’s put his team/pack/family together and cares for them.
We are treated to a little action/suspense with a crime lord after Gage and the SWAT team. This adds a little danger to the story along with Mac and Gage’s romance. Their were the classic cliches and tropes during the storyline, so no big surprises in the story.
Narration: This is my first experience with Abby Craden’s and I enjoyed her narration of Hungry Like the Wolf. She did a good job. I liked her voices and I could disguise; between all the male characters. That distinction made them stand out, be individuals, and become more real.
Hunger Like the Wolf takes the safe road, the characters are interesting enough, and the sex is steamy. It didn’t overly impress me, but it was still a pleasure and a satisfying listen.
Rated: 3 Stars
I won a copy of this book from the author, I was not required to give a favorable review. This was a great start to this series about a group of wolf shifters that are also part of a SWAT team in Dallas. Cage Dixon is the commander and the rest of the 16 members of the team are are werewolves. When Mackenzie thinks there is something going on with the SWAT team she decides that she want to write an article about them and show that the strength that the members have is from taking PED or steroids to making them stronger and faster than other officer. But once she gets to know Cage, her feelings start to change a bit and after she see hows they work out that they aren’t on drugs. But when a bad man’s son gets killed by SWAT while he was doing something better, it is up to Cage and the team to protect her and take them down. By then he also realizes that Mac is his ONE. And he has to tell her about he shifting. This book keeps you on your toes and make you realize love is out you just have to look for it.
I liked this book it was funny and full action with some steamy scenes too.
Gage is a great alpha he takes care of his pack and it was interesting to discover how they become werewolves in that universe.
I did had difficulties to like Mac she is courageous but i hated how she could think putting other in danger then washing her hands because it’s not her responsability what othersz do…i could have shaken her.
I absolutely adored Zak though^^ i hope we will see more of him. Cooper seems great too oki the whole swat team i want more of them.
really a good book to change your mind
This is the first book in the SWAT series and it can be read as a stand alone issue. Hungry Like the Wolf is action packed, fast paced and has lots of hunky Alpha-men. Also, it contains no cheating, no cliff hanger and a HEA. A Great start to an Awesome series!
The Dallas SWAT team is a group of former military sharp shooters. The team is made up of 16 lust inducing, Alpha-men. Hiding the fact that they are actually a pack of wolf shifters.
The team is loved by all of Dallas, they are called in when the DPD can’t get the job done by themselves. Investigative Journalist, MacKenzie “Mac” Stone knows that these men must be hiding something and she is bound and determined to find out what that something is.
Mac is invited to the compound by the SWAT Commander Gage Dixon. He plans to keep her at a distance so she will quit her snooping around. However, that feat proves difficult because Gage can’t get over how her scent draws him in, or how sexy and smart she is. For the first time in years she makes him feel like the possibility of having “The One” come into your life is actually true. But she’s getting close to the truth which puts her in the situation of revealing it and losing him or keeping the secret and gaining his trust, love and pack…

Dallas SWAT, under Commander Gage Dixon, has shaped up to be the best unit in the US. He’s built his team from scratch in under 10 years, recruiting only those that meet his exacting criteria – they have to be the best in their field. Oh, and they have to be a werewolf. Say what?!
Journalist Mackenzie Stone smells something funny about the much-touted Dallas SWAT team and she’s determined to dig until she finds out if they’re dirty or pumped up with PEDs (performance enhancing drugs). She had no idea she was walking right into the wolf’s den.
I admit that I kinda loathe reporters/journalists and Mac is no exception. What a self-righteous prig she is. Not a fan of her, but at least she’s no shrinking violet. I love Gage and the entire SWAT team. The action is fast-paced, the bad guy is a bit too real, the steamy stuff is definitely fan-worthy, and I like the lore and humor. I’m not much on the plot device of having a woman be The One or whatever anyone else calls it. I think it’s a cop out. Blah. Anyway, other than those two points this is a pretty good read.
With the ‘Summer of SEALs’ done, I needed to read more from Paige Tyler. I realized I had purchased the SWAT series awhile ago and hadn’t started them yet. So I dove in with book one.
I love shifters and a whole SWAT team of Alpha wolves definitely just adds to the love.
Mackenzie Stone has a mission, scoop a story on the SWAT team based on a tip they are doing performance enhancing drugs. Unfortunate all requests for an interview or a ride-along have been refused. So she stakes out their command compound waiting for an opening, either to talk to them or break in and search.
Her break comes when the team heads out and with Zac, her photographer, driving they follow along. Of course Mac gets herself in trouble and ends up in the command van.
Making a call hoping to get her off any story she might have in mind, Gage invites her to the compound for an interview and then to follow the team around for a couple of days. His reaction to Mac has his team/pack questioning his judgement until one of them brings up ‘The One.’
Plenty of action and suspense as Gage and Mac get steamier. I think this almost melted my kindle with scenes that advance their relationship, but don’t end up between the sheets.
I also like the difference in how the change occurs, not from a bite but a life threatening situation and the right DNA.
I have to see who’s next so I’m off to read book two.
kept my attention, didn’t want to put it down
Loved it . I found it. Entertaining . Not something I have read before. I lov e the characters of gage and Mac.
