Julia is single and happy, thank you very much. Try telling that to her happily-coupled bestie, though. She’s so determined to pair Julia off, she brings an extra guy friend along on a weekend getaway, in what’s clearly a set-up attempt. Julia’s interest is immediately piqued by sweet, sexy, nerdy Zack. There’s just one problem: he’s still hung up on his ex. Big time.Despite knowing that – and … that – and despite her attraction to him – it doesn’t stop her friends from throwing them together every other second, insisting they’d make the perfect couple. But Julia is determined to friend zone him. At least until he suggests they pretend to date to get their respective friends off their backs.
At first, their fake “dating” is more friendship than fireworks. But as they get closer, the lines begin to blur between them, and Julia realizes she has to either shut down her developing feelings for Zack or let him in. The question is: can she fully trust him with her heart? Or does his heart still belong to his ex?

well rounded characters, good pacing, and one of my favorite tropes 🙂
Julia and Zack pretend to start dating to keep their mutual friend Dee from further attempts at setting them up.
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.

Sweet romance with Julia and Zack. She is a perpetual single girl and he is getting a divorce from his cheating wife that he is still hung up on. Friends set them up so they decide to be friends which turns into more but not without him having to face facts and move on.

This was an emotional but satisfying romance story. I fell in love with the characters quickly and I was hooked. Zack and Julia were great, as were Kai and Dee. Great read!

A well written story that kept me turning pages. Julia and Zack meet through mutual friends, they become friends. They will have to learn to let their pasts go, before they can move on with their future. I enjoyed reading this book. This is the 1st book I’ve read written by Marie Landry; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Julia heads to a cabin for a short winter vacation with friends, where her best friend sets her up with Zack. Okay. Until she sees the wedding band. WTF??? He’s in the middle of a divorce, and having trouble moving on. Great. Now she’ll be the rebound. Still, they have things in common, and have a great time together. They agree to be friends, and maybe hang out from time to time. Not good enough for her best friend. Dee’s in love, and wants the same for Julia. What if Julia and Zack pretend to be dating? You know, just to get Dee off their backs. This is probably the best fake boy/girlfriend romance I’ve read. This book grabbed me from the beginning, and I was nearly done before I realized it. The writing is just incredible, making the story flow nicely, and making me feel like I was there. Julia and Zack are terrific together, playing off each others’ strengths. Despite his insecurities, he’s an absolute dream, and I’m jealous of Julia. I also really enjoyed the focus on Julia and Dee’s friendship; women’s friendships sometimes take a back seat to their love lives. This is my second book from this author, and the other one was very moving as well (shameless plug for Maybe You). I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to read this book. Bonus points for the wonderful Spotify playlist!

First book that I have read from this author and I really enjoyed it. Julia and Zack decided to have a fake relationship so their friends would leave them alone. As with a lot of fake relationships, theirs started to become real and it was fun watching that happen. I am a sucker for these types of stories. They always make my heart melt.

This was my first read of 2020, and what an amazing start to the year it turned out to be. It might be a bit early to start compiling a list of favourite books of the year, but this is definitely at the top of it! It’s been a long time since I enjoyed a book this much or read one quite so fast! Hung Up On You is literally unputdownable – one night I stayed up until 05.30am reading and eventually had to force myself to put my Kindle out of reach so I couldn’t pick it back up, and another night I fell asleep on top of it because I didn’t want to stop reading!
I’ve been a massive fan of Marie Landry’s writing for years now and I look forward to every book. I knew I was going to love this one from the moment I heard about it – I LOVE a fake relationship story – and it’s such a great feeling when you know you’re going to love something and then you finally get your hands on it and it’s even better than expected!
Marie’s books always have a strong focus on female friendships, and I almost loved the friendship Julia has with her best friend Dee more than I loved her developing romance with Zack. And believe me, I loved that!
The characters are this book’s biggest strength. Marie makes you care about them from the first page and as things go on, you get invested in their lives and you’re rooting for everything to work out for them. I adored the slow-burn of their romance and the fact they built up a friendship first. I was so invested in Julia and Zack’s relationship and wanted nothing more than for Julia to succeed in showing Zack how amazing he is after his evil ex has done a number on his self-confidence. And he is amazing. Easily one of my favourite book heroes ever. Everyone needs a man like Zack in their lives!
You’re always guaranteed swoony romance, gorgeous, gentle, vulnerable heroes, strong friendships, and a realistic happily ever after that could actually happen in reality with Marie’s books, along with characters you can imagine being friends with in real life, and an unputdownable five-star read! This beautiful book has set the bar incredibly high for the rest of my reads this year!
