Theirs was a love story like no other. . .Or at least it was in Flick O’Malley’s mind. All she’d ever wanted was a man to love her. A family to adore her. Protect her. And she’d do the same in return.Oh, she knew West Malone wasn’t your typical Prince Charming. He was blunt. He was gruff. Sometimes, he was downright scary. But she knew he’d never let anyone mess with someone he claimed as his.And … someone he claimed as his.
And she wanted to be his.
She also wanted his rough, wild, insane family to be hers.
West Malone’s core was dark. His world, full of gray. He existed. He didn’t live.
And that’s the way he liked it.
Until Felicity O’Malley decided to blind him with that the light that was all her, with her sweetness, her innocence. But West had loved once before. And he’d failed her.
Wasn’t ever happening again.
By the time West realizes he’s not the villain in this story but the hero, will he be to late to save the girl?

West is a wonderful man and I love him and wanted him to find his happiness. He’s a lovable teddy bear. I love his bluntness and his love for his family.
I was amazed by how hard he fought his attraction to Flick. It was very entertaining to read their interesting interactions and their chemistry sizzle even when he pushed her away.
The topics in this story hit home and are very scary however Author Laylah Roberts has a beautiful way of teaching us how to face traumatic events that I love and appreciate.
Sometimes you have to get to know a person before you miss out on something special. Flick saw beyond West rudeness. She understood him and loved him exactly as he is.
Love is hard to find but when you have it hold it tight. I love this series and can’t wait for the next brother to find his happiness.
“How West Was Won” is book 7 in the ‘Haven, Texas’ series of interconnected stand-alone stories from Laylah Roberts. In this book, Felicity (who prefers to be known as Flick) is a 25-year-old woman living a harsh life. She likes to mentally escape into daydreams of fairytales and books featuring strong heroes. Flick is innately kind and skilled at hiding the dark side of her life. She looks like a kitten but she has the heart of a lion.
West is the man of her dreams, and the brother-in-law of her dearest friend. He repeatedly rebuffs her clear indications of interest. The dark experiences of his own past have him convinced that he doesn’t deserve to be loved by a woman, so he becomes increasingly verbally cruel to Flick in his staunch determination to push her away. When the truth about her life is revealed, West suddenly finds himself no longer able to hide from his own true feelings. His character makes me think of the old saying about how ‘still waters run deep.’
The heartache, drama and danger in this story pull you in and keep you knotted up, but the love that blooms between Flick and West is what will melt your heart. (Please note that some scenes may be difficult for victims of domestic violence, but they are not gratuitously presented.)
The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!

I’m moving to Haven. And I’m willing to take my chances to meet one of the Malone’s! Laylah Roberts does romance right, and West and Flick will grab your heart and won’t let go from the first page to the last. My heart hurt, my heart melted, my heart overflowed. Add in the rest of the Malone clan and you have a book that will make your to-be-read-again list and going back to reread the rest of the Haven series just to experience the delicious shivers yet again. Great read – can’t wait for more!
I love this addition to the Haven, Texas series. West is grumpy, almost to the point of mean, but Flick doesn’t care. He is exactly the kind of man she thinks she needs. If only he could figure that out. That is the basis of this one, and where it starts. It’s steamy and super sexy, but the emotions will really get you. The honest and realistic way Ms. Roberts writes her characters has a way of relating to their pain and their pleasure. My heart broke for both of these characters multiple times, and it made their HEA that much sweeter. It’s a beautiful story from beginning to end.
So this was a free ARC copy from the author and booksprout for my voluntary honest review of this read and I really enjoyed it. Once I started I had to finish it because I thought it was that great a read.It has a great storyline and great characters to read about to, plus it’s so sizzling hooot.I really like reading this authors work because I enjoy it so much and look forward to seeing more from her in the future!
All Flick ever wanted was a man to love her.A family to adore her.Protect her.And she’d do the same in return. West Malone is grumpy, mean and hates sweet girls like Flick . Because she sparkles and shines everything he’s not . Because she wouldn’t ever understand the darker side of life, the kind he’s lived. If only she stayed away from he’s family far away…instead, she’s become besties with his sister-in-law and is every where he turns . Always bright, always kind and sweet…until he finally manages to chase her off.And when she get home her brother is drunk and even thou he’s in a wheelchair he’s been abusive to her for years. And tonight is no different. And she can’t get out of bed, and is in so much pain that she doesn’t call her best friend even. But West sister-in-law is so worried about Flick that her husband sends two of his brothers over to see how she is and they end up bringing her home with them. And nobody will let her leave the safe home she’s found now.West is so mad and he finally tells her about the girl that he loved when he was only 16 years old and what happened to her when he was a little older. After her brother and his highered man once again try to kill her when West takes her to their remote cabin. Her brother dies of a stroke in jail and now her and West can live a loving life together.
What a great read and it’s so sizzling hot to, so enjoy everyone!

An absolutely fantastic book seven in the Haven, Texas series! The story line is well thought out, well-written, emotionally deep, and consistent; I was captivated from page one until the end. There is drama, suspense, danger, humour, witty banter, very steamy scenes, and more. The characters are likeable and strong; their chemistry is intense, hot, and undeniable! This book is guaranteed to leave you wanting more. Definitely recommended.

HOW WEST WAS WON is the seventh book in the Haven, Texas series. Each is a stand-alone romance, but the characters interact. I recommend reading them all (and wish I had more of the series).
Flick is sunshine to all that she meets, but she is hiding a home life that is so dark that it is unimaginable for most. The fact that she can still have sass, backbone, and all of that sunshine is a testament to the strength of a wonderful woman. It is these layers that made me love her so much. It is West appreciating these layers that made me love him.
With danger, suspense, hawtness, arrogance, and charm, this story had something different at every turn. I loved it and look forward to more from the series. I can’t wait to see which of the Malone brothers will find his girl next – and what sweet nickname he will have for her.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

The author does no wrong in my eyes her books are everything her characters are second to none and her storylines will make your heart skip a beat just as it did mine with this book.
A real and spicy romance.
Flick is a strong young woman who needs an equally strong man to help her deal with her life. When she meets West, she’s pretty sure he is the one who can help her… and protect her. West missed the signals that Flick needed more from him than just being part of her family and that had almost tragic results. But he vows not to make that mistake again.
This one had me holding my breathe a couple of times from the danger Flick was in but it is finally resolved by the end.
This is the seventh book in the Haven, Texas series and it can be read as a standalone but it builds on the other stories, so it’s definitely better when read in the order it was written. And as with the other books in this series, it does deal with the BDSM lifestyle and it’s many, many variations so if that’s not for you, don’t read this book.

This is a fabulous story full of humor, romance, suspense, sex and lots of Malone shenanigans. West is such a tough cookie and Flick is a ray of sunshine. There are times in this story where you want to shake West so hard and her brother was one awful piece of work. I really enjoyed this story especially the ending.
Book seven in the Haven, Texas series a well written western that kept me turning pages. This is Flick/Felicity O’Malley, and West Malone’s story there is suspense, spankings, drama, danger, twists, turns, an evil brother, attempted murder, and romance. I want to read more in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved this book from start to finish. It had a lot of emotions and a great happy ending. I loved that through everything she had been through Flick was still so happy. I am also glad that West was finally able to allow himself to feel for Sunshine. They had great chemistry and I will definitely be rereading this.

Well, this is an unexpected story. There are possible triggers so be forewarned. I absolutely love Flick. She is a strong woman. I love her ability to not give up , to keep trying, to keep fighting in her own way. I love West. He is so wrong about himself and it is a stutter start for him to finally realize the depth of his feelings and his capacity to love but once he finally gets it, there is no turning back. I love this family and hope we have more Malone stories to enjoy. I am especially anxious to get a story from Beau. This is a Beautiful story that erupts from multiple tragedies.

Flick loves living in Haven where the men cherish and protect their women. She set her sights on Wes. Just when Wes feels like he’s gotten rid of Flick her life becomes endangered and she’s really hurt. This was a story that once you started reading it you couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read some of this author’s other books. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Family
Family is all that matters to West. They are the only ones he lets in and they don’t get all of him. The past has built a wall around his heart. Flick is determined to scale that wall. West is determined to keep her out…she’s not a Malone. What West and the rest of the Malones is why Flick as determined to scale that wall. When they realize the reason, will it be too late for Flick? Before you start this book I suggest you have a few things nearby: something cold to cool you down, some tissues and something to punch. You are going to need that last item

Whenever I pick up a Robert’s novel, I’m transported into her character’s worlds(s). Her characters, bold. Sometimes likable, and yes, sometimes not. This was a love story I thoroughly enjoyed. This book had intense scenes, and multiple emotions involved. An HEA, maybe, but if so, it won’t be easy getting there.
I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This book was a great read. I can’t wait to read about the rest of the Malones! West is loyal to his family, but he wants nothing to do with anyone else. Flick (Felicity) moves to Haven and falls in love with him. But, as I have said, West only wants family. He has had tragedy in his past and doesn’t want to love again. Flick makes all that change. Flick has been in her own nightmare because of her brother. He beats her, but no one believes her or they are bought off. The Malones can’t be bought and when Flick’s life is in danger, West realizes he loves her. This was such an emotional book for me. I really enjoyed it. I only wish the ending was a little longer. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout but I loved this book so much I bought it. I highly recommend the entire series for everyone!
This is one of those stories that make you take a moment and think about those around you.
How many people that you know casually, say “Hi” to in passing, are hiding behind their smiles a life that’s painful?
I really enjoyed this story. At times it makes you smile, cry, angry, but it does end happily.
There is a very large cast of characters and at times it’s hard to keep up with who is who, but I think that there will be plenty more stories in this series.
Even though it can be read as a stand alone it might have been helpful to read the previous books (which I think I might have) or at least refresh my memory so I would have had a better idea of what was going on.
Happy Reading:)
