This page turner about a Lady who was lost with no memories held my attention all the way through. The characters were full and well written. The heartbreak of his lost love haunted the Lord for 3 years. This story had both a tragic end and a happy end. A complex story of forever love. Greatly enjoyed!
Grant Barrett, Earl of Wentford, is a wonderful hero with good judgement of character and incredible love. Nessa, the heroine, is likable too. Her inner dialogue seems true to what one might expect of someone with amnesia. Nessa’s father and daughter are delightful characters, as is Eugenie (I look forward to her story). This story was well-written. It had conflict, hope, and love, as Grant recovers his lost wife and patiently tries to give her the space and time to learn to love him again, even if her memory doesn’t return from having amnesia.
One of my favorite books. Been awhile since I’ve had a book I couldn’t put down.
it easy to read
I read the last book in the series first and discovered that this book follows it with the same couple but several years later. Boy the author sure knows how to deliver a punch to the heart. I felt for many of the characters here. I can’t wait to read the second book as it picks up Eugenie and Adrian’s story.
This is a work of fiction. The author didn’t follow some facts in history. That didn’t bother me as I knew it was fiction. I give authors some creative license to bend some of history to fit the story some unless it changes it inappropriately.
This was a sweet, clean romance with some kisses. I am personally glad to have read the seventh book first before reading this one.
Reads a little slow.
This book was better than any reviews posted! The characters were fully fleshed out- I knew how she was going to react before the characters did! This allowed me to root & cheer!! I recommend this book!
Good story and no yukky sex. Yea!
This book was kind of predictable but it was very interesting how the characters handled the different situations. Thank you
I loved this book! It had deep love, mystery, hatred. Enjoy.
Wonderful story– looking forward to reading more of this Happy Ever Regency series
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. for a regency romance, it had a different and engaging plot. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Tear jerker. Keeps you on your toes. The characters are so real and so different as they make one big happy family. I could hardly put this book down until I finished it.
Good read.
It is often than I throw in a 5 star review for good writing and I also liked the perspectives Nessa shared regarding having no memories. This writer has given enjoyable characters and interelations between them. I especially liked Nessa. My only wish is that the love story hadn’t and really shouldn’t have progressed without more complexity It would have been even better if there had been more of a 3 dimensional approach to the main characters. A twist or two would have been nice too.I am really glad I chose this book and even learned a bit about what it must feel like to not remember one’s life.
A book with a different twist. Well written with compassionate characters. I enjoyed it!
A lovely Author . Agreat read.
Is she a sisty ugler or an ugler sisty?
If this is a Sleeping Beauty retelling then it is far from a Sleeping Beauty. Rather than sleeping and rather than a beauty, this story tells of one almost spinster who lost three years of her memory. Then there was the evil mother-in-law, yes truly, but why did no one suspect her as truly evil instead of just a disgruntled mother-in-law? Ah me. Some people, or I should say, some imagined characters, just will not stay true to the original story! This is a retelling is it not? Well, I guess that’s what makes a story a fascinating page turner. This is definitely a fascinating page turner! And now I can pretty much figure out the next fairytale retelling, as if I needed to guess. Well duuhh. The next one is obviously book two in this series. So off I go onward to book two.
How To Wake A Sleeping Lady is a phenomenal historical romance by Bree Wolf. Ms. Wolf has provided readers with a well-written book populated with a cast of characters that is magnificent. Grant married Agnes and had a wife he adored and then a daughter. After Agnes was killed in a carriage accident and her body never recovered he finally gave up hope and let others convince him to marry and give his daughter a mother. When Grant’s father-in-law from his first marriage comes to him claiming his daughter is still alive, Grant agrees to go and check himself just to calm the man. Agnes washed ashore but her memory was gone and was living at an abbey. Agnes and Grant’s story is packed with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I loved everything about this book and look forward to reading more from Bree Wolf soon. How To Wake A Sleeping Lady is book 1 of the Happy Ever Regency Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
A mother-in-law’s bitter hate
Nessa disappears and is presumed dead. At the urging of his mother, Grant remarries, to give his beloved daughter a mother.
What will happen when Nessa’s father finds her and Grant brings her back home? Nessa remembers nothing, not her father, her husband, or her child.
Where will Grant’s second wife go? What will happen to the child she carries?
What will a wicked mother-in-law stoop to, to get her way?
