This story starts out heartbreaking, but it flows into finding love and finding an unlikely family. Eugenie finds out her comfortable marriage is null now that his wife reappears from the dead. Now pregnant she enters into another arranged marriage with a man who avoids her, a maid with a son who seems very familiar with Eugenie’s new husband Adrian and the motherly housekeeper. Things are not as they appear Eugenie’s dead brother has left a legacy that will bring everyone together including a love that Eugenie wants with her new husband.
Adrian Brooks is the Earl of Remsemere not by choice but because he is the only member of his family that survived a horrific fire. Scarred from losing his entire family he goes to war hoping for death, a death that will not come. Returning home scarred Adrian can’t keep the visions and nightmares from returning night after night.
Lady Eugenie finds herself unmarried and pregnant and enters into a marriage with Adrian. Eugenie very rarely sees Adrian and after one night when she finds him entangled in a nightmare he can’t seem to wake from. Eugenie starts to understand the torment that Adrian is going through and tries to help him overcome them and have a chance at life again. Afraid to love someone for the fear they might die Adrian secretly watches Eugenie from afar. This is a wonderful story about healing and the power of love. To watch someone who is scarred and afraid come to terms with a terrible past and look forward to something they thought they would never have was such a joy to read. Definitely recommend this one.

I received a free copy of the clean historical romance How to Climb a Lady’s Tower: Happy Ever Regency Series book(# 3) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
A complex and ironic mix of humor and intrigue with a time frame that overlaps part of the previous book revisiting Rebecca’s trip to her school friend Eugenie at Ravengrove and contains the ” by chance” and at times awkward meetings between Rebecca and Zach. Bored with her quiet life and controlling uncle, Miss Rebecca Hawkins with the aid of her seemingly mousy cousin Caroline challenge rules and seek excitement while portraying models of the convention until the arrival of the new Earl of Pembroke, American Zachary Caswell and his mysterious friend Lord Markham the Black Baron give them hope.
4. Book 4: How to Steal a Thief’s Heart:5 stars
I received a free copy of the novel How to Steal a Thief’s Heart (Happy Ever Regency Book 4): Pierce and Caroline by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
A strange courtship of not-so-chance meetings occurring roughly over a year’s time and a two-year-old murder mystery which follows the same time frame as Caroline’s cousin Rebecca’s story, How to Climb a Lady’s Tower.
A few surprises are interspersed between the entwined stories of Lady Caroline and her cousin Lady Rebecca’s sneaky schemes to avoid arranged marriages and, Lord Markham, Pierce Byrne’s dual personalities of day time parental Lord and night time masked “Robinhood” as they search for truth, justice, help the unfortunate, and finally find love.
Devoted to the children at her orphanage, Miss Caroline Hawkins remains virtually unnoticed behind a dowdy image until a chance observation at a ball by Baron Pierce Marham peaks both his interest and protective instincts.
5. Book 5: How to Turn A Frog Into A Prince: 4 stars
I purchased a copy of the novel Happy Ever Regency Series Book 5: How to Turn A Frog Into A Prince: Nathanial and Charlaine by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Complex with multiple romances this second chance at love story features two wildly different foreigners, the optimistic and mischievous orphaned Jamaican Charlaine and the heartbroken, introverted and regimental American Iron Furnace magnet Nathanial Caswell, who become friends despite their differences but almost lose each other when trust and loyalty are questioned.
Best if read in sequence. Good on its own but, as it features Lord Zach Pembroke and Zach’s twin brother Nathanial Caswell as well as the same time frame as book 4, there is a significant amount of recap in the first third of the book.
6. Book 6: How to Return a Lady’s Slipper:4 stars
I purchased a copy of the clean historical romance novel How to Return a Lady’s Slipper: Happy Ever Regency book 6 by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
An easy flowing, complex and tension-filled story with vivid descriptions, two romances with hints at a third, realistic character including the couples from prior sequels, some violence, the triumph of good over evil, and a happy ending.
Single mother Miss Emma Glass seeking help for her seriously ill two-year-old daughter Susan finds security as the governess of Pierce Byrne, The Black Baron aka Lord Markham, and his wife Caroline’s young ward Daphne only to have that security challenged when his distinguished detective friend Hugh Lawrence, Duke of Ashhaven, returns from the continent to solve the murder of Daphne’s parents which opens up bad memories, threatens Emma’s sense of security and unearths a deeper darker plot involving Susan’s father, Horace Aldrich, Earl of Amhurst.
7. Book 7: Really book 0 the prequel: 5 stars
I received a free copy of the clean historical romance novella How to Live Happily Ever After The series Prologue (Happy Ever Regency Series Book 7) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Oh, the tender but persistent pursuit! A fast-paced love at first sight romance where the Earl finds his happily ever after in an overlooked gem and despite ruthless parental manipulation and expectations.
An intense attraction results in an awkward first meeting, disbelief, and a determined quest when Grant Barrett, Earl of Wentford professes his intentions moments after meeting the outspoken and skeptical spinster Agnes “Nessa” Bottombrook.
What a Enjoyable story! Second in the Happy Ever Regency series brings the characters who found a place in your heart are back. How to Tame a Beastly Lord will hold you captivated from the moment you begin the journey until the very end. Bree Wolf has written a story that has a great cast of characters that come off the pages and pull you into this emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end, it is smoothly written, dealing with unnerving situations, with a superb plott that is filled with tension-building twist and turns and setbacks that will keep you entralled from the beginning to the end in this outstanding story! Lord Adrian has an inner beast that lurks just below the surface within him, he stalks in the shadows of the night just wanting to withdraw from life. As Adrian hides in the night believing himself cursed Eugenie helps him face the demons within him and bring light back into his life.
A Lord Not So Beastly.
Lady Eugenie is in dire straits to find a husband. Her marriage is not binding and she’s pregnant. A marriage of convenience with Adrian Brooks, Earl of Remsemere, known as the Beastly Lord, is arranged. Instead of fearing him, Eugenie discovers a man in pain from all those close to him dying. Survivors Guilt. If she can show him love, may be it will bring him back from darkness. A longer book and a clean romance.
Adrian was known as a beast as he had a huge scar on his face from being attacked with a bayonet during the war with France. Consequently being in the war caused him to suffer from what in today’s time is known as PTSD. Furthermore, he suffered with survivor’s remorse being the only survivor in his family during a house fire when he was young. So much loss! Ms Bree wrote Adrian’s character with great depth causing my heart to ache for him. Also the heroine of this story, Eugenie, had negative experiences she had suffered. She was the kindest, sweetest person on the planet and had high hopes when she married a kind sweet gentleman. But they didn’t love each other as a husband and wife should. Not the way he had loved his first wife. And when his first wife came back from the dead so to speak, Eugenie was in an uncomfortable place since her marriage was now voided. But never fear Adrian was there as a friend to Eugenie’s husband, and he took on the responsibility and married her to protect her and her unborn child. However, Eugenie craved more than a marriage of convenience. She wanted to be loved as we all crave it. I loved reading Eugenie’s character. Ms Bree wrote her in such a way that you could feel the bone crushing sorrow she faced with wanting but never having love in her life especially since she was so deserving of it herself. Well, with all this sorrow brought to the reader’s attention in the beginning, imagine the utter joy you will experience when you read what comes of it! Just as I experienced it. You cannot help but experience it! Unless you are a cold hearted person you cannot help but experience the depth of emotion that Ms Bree writes into her characters and into their actions. And in the very end, she wraps all the twists and turns and loose ties up into a nice little bow so we can jump for joy hissing “yesss”! And pump a fist joyously into the air. Yes!
Adrian Brooks was a cursed man.
All the people he liked ended up dying in some tragic way.
Being a soldier, he did everything to end this curse, and let himself be killed, but Destiny had something in store for him…
Eugenie was married to Lord Wentford.
It was not a love match, she knew.
He was a widower, had a young daughter, Milly, and was still in love with his deceased wife.
When he traveled and was away for several days, Eugenie didn’t even know where her husband was.
Until one day he came back from his trip, very agitated, and broke the news that Eugenie feared most: his wife had been found, with no memory, and he was going to bring her back home.
As Eugenie was alone in the world, she had lost for her only brother, Emery, in the war, Wentford promised to help her. Then he asked a great favor to an old friend.
Adrian was now known as the Beast of Ravengrove.
When Wentford came to ask him to marry Eugenie and protect her, he didn’t want to. But when he saw her and knew how fragile her situation was, he accepted.
The castle in which he lived was large and he could easily avoid her.
The point was that Eugenie did not want to be avoided by her new husband.
When Eugenie’s old friend, Rebecca, shows up to visit her, she decides to help her discover Beast’s secrets, and how Eugenie could win his heart.
Adrian carried a great deal of guilt, and when he found himself falling in love with his wife, he would do his best so that his past would not hinder his chance to be happy.

I love this Happy Ever Regency Series by Bree Wolf. Each character is tortured in his/her own way. Each one is afraid to let the other in for fear of being hurt. This tender love story gives hope to anyone who wants to believe in second chances.
After a family tragedy Adrian Brooks, Earl of Remsemere tempted death many times in the war in France. While convinced that death follows him, it doesn’t seen to want to take him. The last example sends him back home and the desolate life there.
Lady Eugenie discovers herself in a very difficult situation through no fault of her own. She is pregnant and unmarried. There is really only one hope that will protect her and her baby.
Our unfortunate heroine is a lot more accepting and forgiving than the men around her have any right to expect.
Our tormented hero suffers dreadfully from anxiety. That is not something that men could admit to in those days.
Two very lonely people must try to make a life worth living.
A very emotional story that links to a previous book in the series. I don’t think it really matters which one you read first because they are set at the same time and don’t give too many spoilers to each other until the very end of this one.
The characters are fabulous and fun. I think our heroine’s friend just might have her own story coming soon.
A hero scarred by war and family tragedy is saved by the unfortunate but plucky heroine. Love conquers all. Nice side stories and characters, unexpected complications.
What a Wonderful read. I love this Fairytale story. Its a fantastic read from start to finish. The Author has done a fantastic job at bringing the story to fruition. With bringing out the characters so well, while reading I can picture each scene vividly in my mind. I definitely recommend.

To me, there is nothing more pleasing than being able to settle down to read a story and be lifted out of the seriousness of life into a world of love, romance and whatever else that particular book brings.
This one did it for me!
It took four characters who were plagued by some tragedy in each of their pasts and gave them lives worth living and along the way I laughed or cried and felt for each of them as the story came to life for me.
Not only is this one really well written, but it communicates on all levels and that is what a great story is about!
I loved every second of this book and highly recommend it as it flows straight to the heart!
I was gifted a copy of the ebook and this is my voluntary and unbiased review of it.
“He was alive. A battered soul, Adrian could not believe he had survived the battle. Four years had passed since he had joined the British forces, yet he had survived. Why was death so unwilling to take him?” He had nightmares from when all his family had died in England and now his friend Emery who was a surgeon was found dead. He was cursed.
Eugenie had lost all of her family as well and had married Grant, Lord Wentford, a widow who had a young daughter. She had fallen in love with Mille, but she knew her husband was still in love with his late wife. In a twist of fate, he found out his first wife was still alive! Of course, what would happen to Eugenie and her baby! Yes she had just found out.
Grant went to Adrian, his old friend, who had become a recluse and asked him to wed Eugenie and take care of her and the babe. When Adrian realized she was the sister of his friend Emery who he could not save in the war he agreed.
This was an emotion story that took a hold of my heart quickly and did not let go. The wounded hero, so broken he still does not know why he lives and the heroine, who longs to feel love and have a family. Both needed each other so much and fate brought them together. But could they find love? Simply wonderful…
A lesson in life not getting you down!
Once the apple of her father and brother’s eye, Eugenin’s life left her completely alone. Now forced to marry quickly, it didn’t matter who the man was. Although frightened, she didn’t get defeated when her life turned upside down yet again. She continued to look to the future with promise and hope. What she wanted most was to have a family again.
Adrian also had life throw him multiple tragedies. His response was to believe he was the one making all of the tragedies happen. He no longer could have anyone to love because they would be in danger. He kept to himself within a few rooms of his home.
These two characters ended up in the same house. I really liked the inner self talk making Adrian’s character understood. I enjoyed the transformation of the relationship that was little by little
Returning to the burnt-out shell of his home, from a war that tore men and their families apart, Adrian, Earl of Remsemere is a broken man. He curses the day he was born and blames himself not only for the family he lost but the brother-at-arms who died in his place. Riddled with anger and guilt he pushes everyone away from him and lives with his nightmares. When an old friend makes an unexpected visit and begs him to marry Lady Eugene, Adrian realises that even if it is a marriage of convenience, this is one way in which he can make amends even if it is to a very small degree. Eugene’s presence in his life is quiet and seemingly without effect until he realises that little by little she is creeping into his heart. This novel is well written and romantic, following the beauty and the beast theme. One experiences the heart-wrenching pain that Adrian is experiencing, as well all the insecurities that Eugene is experiencing, being in the difficult situation she finds herself in. As the start of a new series, a seemingly isolated incident is obviously going to be examined more closely in the future. However, this book does come to a successful and happy conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
How to Tame a Beastly Lord by Bree Wolf is a rewritten version of Beauty and the Beast. Eugenie was happily married to Grant Barrett, Earl of Wentford, a man who had married her after his first wife died because he needed a father for his daughter. She didn’t love him but she thought she could if he would love her back. She loved Milly, his daughter. Now she was with child, so she would soon have a child of her own. When her husband returned home, he brought devastating news: it seemed his first wife had been found after being lost at sea and presumed dead, three years past. That left her unmarried and pregnant and ruined. No one’s fault, but devastating, nonetheless. Until Grant had a wonderful idea…He would ride to see his friend Adrian Remsemere, Earl of Ravencroft, and convince him to marry Eugenie. Adrian was a recluse, living in the burnt-out portion of the family mansion and rarely left it, certainly not to speak with anyone. He barely spoke to the servants. He was cursed. Death followed him. His family had all died in this fire and then there was the matter of his friend, Emery’s death in France…his throat had been cut. He agreed to marry Eugenie but it was to be a marriage in name only, he would not interact with her, at all. Not a great solution, but better than nothing.
Eugenie is a thoughtful and kind woman. She befriends the servants and a small boy that lives in the house. She is lonely but not a whiner and she makes the best of a bad situation. Adrian is morose and bitter. He is not fit company for anyone but Isabelle a young woman living in the mansion, and all the servants continue to try. Slowly he becomes aware of Eugenie, and spies on her, sill never willing to speak. When he runs into her and there is no choice, he is curt and moves on quickly. It is a difficult situation. The characters are good, well-defined and the plot is ageless. Adrian is not the Beast of Ravencroft after all, just a broken man. Can Eugenie make a difference? I recommend this book. Reading about the rebirth of a broken person is always a good read.
I received a free ARC of How to Tame a Beastly Lord from Dragonblade. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own.
Adrian, Earl of Remsemere, is a scarred tormented soul. Having lost his entire family in a house fire, he lives his life with no care whatsoever! He want to die. He joins the military and during that time he puts himself in danger each and every time. He meets and befriends a doctor named Emery who tries to get him to see life differently. Unfortunately, Emery dies and Adrian is once against at a loss. He returns home and lives as a beastly recluse. Lady Eugenie is Emery’s sister and married to his neighbor. She is expecting and finds out that the dead wife of the Earl she has married is actually alive and her marriage is now null void. Her “husband” feels terrible and vows to see her wed and scandal free. Who does he ask…the beast of course. Adrian feels he must marry and protect Eugenie in honor of Emery. What happens next is a love story that finds both parties hurting, full of fear and learning to trust each other. Classic Beauty and Beast Trope with a big twist.
