This was a hilarious, quirky, second chance at love story. If you want to laugh until your side’s hurt, read this!
Tabatha and Pax had a tumultuous marriage and divorced ten years ago. Now she is getting married to Hunter who is the complete opposite of Pax. Nouveau riche Hunter wants the best of the best so he unknowingly hired Pax’s alter ego to take capture the wedding process. Pax is all about getting some revenge and takes the most unflattering photos he can. Tabatha realizes the photog is Pax and Hunter fires him. Hunter wants Gregor, Pax’s bff and pro athlete/celebrity, to be included in the wedding process and he goes along with it but brings Pax as his plus one everywhere. Tabitha starts questioning her relationship with Hunter while Pax comes to the realization he never stopped loving her. He decides to stop their wedding and madly races to the venue only to find Hunter has dumped Tabatha. He immediately proposed but she says she needs time to think things through. After talking with her friends she decided to follow Pax home and they cement their relationship and get their HEA.
I have been on a second chance romance kick lately, especially books that have marriage reconciliation. I loved this one. Tabs and Pax had such a tumultuous past, but they were eachother’s forever love. Even after the demise of their marriage, they both knew they still loved one another. This book was such a funny romcom. There were parts I cringed at, I’m looking at you Hunter and Trixie, but the banter between Pax and Tabby made up for it. I really enjoyed this quick read!
This is my first book by this author and it certainly won’t be the last! Pax lands the job as photographer to his ex-wife’s wedding, intent on ruining the whole event – but things don’t quite go as he planned. Really funny with laugh-out-loud moments and lots of great banter and hilarious inner-thoughts. A lovely story that was well-written, quite a steamy scene that I wasn’t expecting, and loads of laughs.
Well written fun, hilarious second chance romance. Loved the characters. First book by this author and I enjoyed reading it.
Funny, light and refreshing, definitely a feel-good book.
HOW TO RUIN YOUR EX’S WEDDING by Denise Well is an enjoyable and often laugh-out-loud second chance romance. Pax and Tabatha are relatively even-keeled but when they cross paths it’s sheer destruction. They love each other; they hate each other. It really is as complicated and simple as that.
For me, Pax was the star of the book. I’d describe him as a beta hero with some alpha tendencies. He’s comfortable talking about his feelings with his best friend, he is not beneath sabotaging his ex-wife’s upcoming wedding, and nor is he beneath acting a tad silly at times. He is also sincere and open to questioning his beliefs in order to grow.
I do need to confess that the book did not create a good first impression. The prologue was quite far-fetched, the main characters really were so horrible that I closed the book and left it for a few days. The characters that we meet in Chapter One, which takes place ten years after the prologue are much more interesting.
If you’re after a fun read that has a touch of soberness, this would tick the box.
Tabatha and Pax’s story was fun and unique. These two go from married to hating each other. Pax tries to get revenge for the torment he endured and does everything he can to make Tabatha look bad. They get an unexpected second chance when Pax realises that he still loves Tabatha and then pursues her. Loved this book. Highly recommend!!

Loved Pax & Tabatha’s story! It was a slow burn with lots of laughs! I really enjoyed their story!
Let me start this by saying that I love Denise Wells and her books. I love her writing style, with the bit of humour in there, and of course the drinking LOL!!
This book missed the mark with me. I couldn’t connect with Tabatha in way cause she came across as a spoiled brat. The way she treated Pax and got into the argument from the beginning with Zombies. Really? And then just the way she acted after that.
I think that’s why I couldn’t connect with her, and get into her side of the story. She was soooooo full of herself the whole way through.
Pax, however, I LOVED HIM!! I loved that he took no shit from Tab, and even when they “reconnected”, I loved how he went on with his life.
How he became someone else. Little does he know the wedding his just signed on for is for her. His ex wife. He wants REVENGE! And he wants it badly.
I did however enjoy Tab finding herself. She had been so lost for those 10 years and even though she had moved on, she became the old Tab again. Of course, Wimpycock didn’t like it one bit.
I really laughed so much at all the names that Pax gave Hunter. Killed me. I loved it.
Some of my fave quotes:
1. But I’m no there yet, mentally, at a boob-job. I mean, I prefer a larger dick, but I didn’t offer to get him an enlargement. – ROFL!!!
2. “No, I can’t marry Hunter. He won’t pound me against the wall.” – Don’t we all wish we could get pounded against the wall?
It’s 12:44am and I am writing an AMAZON review. You wanna know why? Because I had to stay up…. I had to find out how it all went down between Tabs and Pax. I NEEDED to know. If you’ve read ANY of Denise Wells’ books- you know she is the queen of suckling you into a story. She writes characters that you cannot help but root for, even if they are selfish, ridiculous, overly dramatic and flawed…. you find yourself relating. You suck in a breath when you finally realize that the guy you thought was innocent and so sweet, is actually a monster and disguises his intentions with compliments and “suggestions” (thank you Denise for the BLATENT warning for all women to stay away from such men). Then comes the “holy sh*t moment”, when you realize what you’re reading feels all too familiar, you start to think back and acknowledge “I know what that fight is like, cause I’ve had that fight.” This is Denise’s super power. She understands the dynamics of a relationship. How love does not always look pretty, how it can end poorly, how love sometimes does not equate to a sound relationship or marriage, and how love can evolve. How people can evolve.
She writes all our stories because it’s our stories we want to hear (but dressed up as film goddesses and stupidly handsome ripped photographers). Read this. You won’t regret it. I sure as F@%k didn’t. Oh. And I paid full price. WORTH EVERY DAMN PENNY.
A wonderful entertaining, enjoyable second chance romance. This amazing storyline had me addicted for the beginning to end with its sweet, interesting, quirky journey. A great read with realistic, fun way to describe these well developed characters while on the edge of my seat as the story progressed wondering what was gonna happen next. Pax and Tabatha had incredible chemistry that created explosive chemistry years before where Tabitha and Hunter were safe and he expresses his adoration numerous times. A fantastic ending with good epilogues would love a story or two from other characters specially Gregor. I voluntarily read and reviewed this beautifully written ARC from an amazing descriptive fun author.
This was a fun read! I really enjoyed this book, Pax & Tabatha are amazing characters. Loved the storyline and could not put it down.
My taste in stories is eclectic and sometimes just strange. For whatever reason, this one ticked all my boxes. I got similar vibes (though the styles are very different) to The Hating Game, which I also just adored.
Pax and Tabitha divorced years ago. She’s getting remarried. He’s a photographer. Who better to capture her wedding? He’s looking for some revenge… at first. It’s a nice touch that *spoilery* the new husband to be, Hunter, just isn’t a likeable guy. It really helps the reader root for a rekindling of the relationship between Pax and Tabitha all the way through this funny, quirky version of a second-chance romance.
Highly recommend!
A quirky and unique must read romance!!! Pax and Tabitha’s previous relationship did not end well and ten years later they find themselves together again…for her wedding. You will find yourself in tears of laughter with each encounter while feeling their sexual tension. The characters are fantastic and you are sucked into their story until the last page wondering what is going to happen. This is one second chance romance you do not want to miss that you will read again and again.
I have no words! Honestly, what is there to say but read/enjoy/devour this book. Parts of it is just mindblowing. How is it even possible to imagine such things? It’s hilarious and utterly crazy. Fair warning; don’t ever be on reality tv or discuss zombies if you want to stay married.
In my mind I have already started to cast my very own favourite movie stars. This is movie material, or a mini series or something. Starring some very big, famous GOT actors and throw in a few nerdy ones as well.
I’m in desperate need of some Champagne and a salad not drowned in oil. I crave cakes, and a few wedding venues and I need my photo taken everywhere I go, but please not when I have my cake. I need singing, dancing, beer drinking, bear hugging lovable friends and most of all, I think I need to swoon a little more before I move on to another book boyfriend
Pax has a dual identity as Matthew Hanhauser, who shoots fluff and bikini models, as Pax Baldwin, he’s a serious photographer.
He’s actively hooked up with many other women since his divorce from Tabatha ten years ago.
Tabatha is an actress who is getting married to Hunter.
Pax is photographing her wedding as his alter ego, Matthew.
Let the games begin. Cuz he’s still not over her yet.
The love/hate and push/pull relationship that is Pax and Tabatha keep me glued to this romantic comedy. It was a very slow burn with lots of laughable moments and palpable sexual tension. Pax took his time realizing Tabatha was the love he let get away but once he did, he pulled out all the stops for a romantic grand gesture to win her back.
Tabatha’s fiance provided quite few shake-my-head moments that cemented his douchebag status in my book and he earned every one of the nicknames Pax came up with.
This book also had a great cast of supporting characters who all injected their own personality into the stort. Pax has an amazing best friend, Gregor, who despite his huge size, seems to be as cuddly as a teddy bear. Tabatha has a great group of girls on her side as well.
How To Ruin Your Ex’s Wedding was my first book by author Denise Wells. It was entertaining and funny but not as hilarious as I had anticipated. It still kept me interested and curious till the very end. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it or read more from her in the future. I’d especially be interested in reading more about both Gregor and Maisey.
I really enjoyed this book…Pax and Tabatha were both sweet and sassy, easy to love, and it was easy to see that they hadn’t gotten over each other even with their divorce years before. Hunter isn’t a likable guy, and I was more than happy to see him removed from the equation. Nice story that had me laughing out loud while I was reading it.
OMG, I loved this book. Pax and Tabatha were so great together. They got married young and when he was asked if he would save her from a zombie apocalypse, he said no and that just set it off. 10 years later, they have moved on or so they think. Tabatha is engaged to Hunter who is such a douche nozzle. He is trying to change her and she is letting him. That all starts to change when Pax reenters her life as their wedding photographer. This story was so good. It had everything – romance, humor, and heat. You will not be disappointed when you pick this book up. All I can say is be prepared to fall in love with Tabatha and Pax.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Just read this!! If you are looking for a an addictive and quirky romance then this is for you. I fell in love with Pax and Tabitha and wanted to beat the crap out of Hunter. When two exes come together after years apart anything can happen. You will laugh throughout while swooning at the sexual tension and chemistry they still have towards one another all these years later. Loved every minute of this story and could not put it down. Definitely one second chance I would recommend.
