Neither of them wants a rebound relationship, but it’s hard to stay away when you’re next-door neighbors.
So what if the guy Addison Sparks had a crush on when she was thirteen just so happens to be her next-door neighbor when she moves across the country for a fresh start? And so what if she embarrasses herself in front of him…
Repeatedly.
If Ian Kendrick hadn’t grown up to be so … grown up to be so good-looking, kind to his grandma, skilled at carpentry, and completely dateable, then it wouldn’t be so difficult to stay away from him.
Addison is just getting over a breakup, though, and Ian is, too. She doesn’t need the kind of awkwardness that would come from living next to someone who would surely be just a rebound if they ever dated.
Nope. What she needs is to make a list to constantly remind herself how to not fall for the guy next door.

She was dumped after two years. He was dumped a couple weeks before his wedding. She is moving into a house she inherited from her aunt. He bought his grandma’s house and moved in to keep her company. Both use to spend summers in this town. Both have sworn off relationships. So what do you think will happen when old friends find out they are neighbors? I really enjoyed this ARC from the author. It’s not always easy to find clean, sweet books.

MY TAKE
I haven’t read a Meg Easton book that I haven’t loved, and this one is no exception. Both Ian and Addy are adorable characters, and their attraction is made all the more sweeter by their childhood memories. I’ve found I really enjoy stories where the characters have a history that goes waaay back.
Both Addy and Ian have gone through recent breakups. They’re skittish about both a rebound and doubt about ever being able to trust anyone enough to get hurt again, especially Ian. The secondary characters are a delight. Even before I read the epilogue, I could tell this was the beginning of a new series. Yay!
Reader’s Notes:
– we hear from both Addison and Ian’s perspectives
– both characters just got out of a relationship a bit before the main events in the story, and Addi worries a lot about accidentally starting a rebound relationship
Review:
Addison is willed her passed aunt’s inn. Though at first she doesn’t know what to do with it, she knows this would be a great place for a fresh start. Especially since the inn and surrounding area are full of wonderful memories of past summers with her aunt. What she doesn’t expect is one other part of her childhood summers, Ian. The boy she had a childhood crush on and still thinks about from time to time. And now, he’s her next-door neighbor.
Ian bought his grandmother’s house a little over a year before to help her out after his grandfather passed. He always loved spending time with his grandparents one month each summer, and with the girl who visited her aunt next door. But the last time he saw Addi, she handed him a gift, gave him a quick kiss, and ran to her aunt’s car. She didn’t come back the next summer nor any summer after that. So he is surprised when he realizes that she is back and now living next-door. He wonders if maybe he’ll finally get to ask the burning questions he had as a boy about that last encounter with her. But at the same time, he isn’t sure if he wants to pursue the answers with his heart already toeing the line of wanting a relationship with Addi. Not just after leaving the relationship he had that seemed to be heading towards marriage.
With thoughtful roomies (Addi figured out what to do with the inn!), a matchmaking grandmother, and secretive kids to babysit this was an awesome adventure! Watching both characters realize what was wrong with their past relationships, battling fears, and standing up for their love
And then that cute epilogue! What a great segue to show what happens past the last chapter and gives us an insight into the next book
This was a super cute Rom Con. The first book in the series, where we meet for roommates. Addison has moved to the small town in Oregon, where she spent her summers. Ian was her first childhood crush, and has been “left at the alter”. All of the characters are developed well, and you are quickly drawn into their lives. It’s a fast paced book and a fun quick read. I would say it’s a PG, clean romance with mild kissing and well written. Can be read as a stand alone book. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Meg Easton has brought us into the home of 4 roommates and their love lives. In this book from the series it follows Addison and Ian. The story line is completely relatable, so if you are expecting a fairy tale this may not be the book for you. Addison and Ian were childhood friends and after life changing events in both of their lives they ended up back in each other’s lives again.
Grab a cup of whatever makes you happy, find a comfy place and get ready to escape into the world of Addison and Ian!
I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
I did receive a free copy of this book from the author for my honest review.
Still working my way thru @megeaston_author How to Not series!
I messed up and totally took back How To Not Fall for the Wrong Guy to the library before I took a photo… so you’re getting 2 in 1 review!
How to Not Fall for the Wrong Guy is Bex and Roman’s story. I’m pretty sure that’s my favorite book of the series so far. The tension is cute and adorable. Watching him ease up and weights being lifted off his shoulders was great. Bex would probably be my definition of “girl power” and “girl boss”. They were both hesitant but not obnoxious hesitant. Talk about power couple!
How to Not Fall for Your Best Friend was Peyton and Max’s story. My dad also had a heart attack, I was in college and Peyton’s dad definitely reminds me of mine. Ready to jump back in. Loved their convo bc mine also loves to hear my stories… at least that’s what i tell myself lol Peyton collects business cards because they seem to be filled to the top with peoples hopes and dreams. It’s been fun to see their story since both mentioned in the previous books and see a tiny bit of their relationship. Being best friends who secretly love each other had definitely taken it’s toll on them and watching it all unfold was cute!
I’ve really like this series and the wonderful characters. All the characters are flawed and real, plus super relatable. The only thing I haven’t been a fan of is it’s starting to get predictable with the set up of the overall flow/events, BUT I like them enough to finish and like them. The ends are all super adorable.
I love second chances and a good looking neighbor. This is a fun story about young love and a second chance many years later. I loved their chemistry. This is a sweet, clean romance.
I really liked this book and will try to read more by this author.
This was a cute, romantic story.
Such a sweet clean read! Easton does such a wonderful job pulling together the complexities of everyday life with just the right amount of romance!
I received a copy from the author and all opinions are my own.
Wish I could give it more then 5 stars, such a great romance, its so fun and you will fall in love with all involved. It puts the romance back into romance!
Oh, wow! This book had me laughing from the first page!! Addi and Ian knew each other as children, but haven’t seen each other for thirteen years. When she moves into the Inn she inherits, they renew their friendship. What happens next is fun, sad, and everything in between!! This is a great read!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
This was a really cute romance. I felt like both Addison and Ian were given a history and back stories that deepened the story line. There were a few inconsistencies which pulled me out of the story, but overall It was sweet and clean, which we love.
This type of book is my very favorite kind! I love the light feel, the comedy, and the romance! And Meg Easton is great at writing characters.
Addison is such a fun character. I loved the way she was trying to start over with life. New job, new place to live, no boyfriend. Only her past was always just around the corner, in Ian. And she was always embarrassing herself in front of him. My favorite scene involves a whole shelf of deodorant. So funny!
And the reader gets to see what’s going on with Ian as well. He’s the kind of guy that you’d want to date. He goes out of his way to help everyone around him. His relationship with his grandma was so sweet.
I loved Addison’s roommates too. And I can’t wait to see them each get their own story.
If you’re looking for a light, sweet romance then you’d better grab this one!
I was sent an e-copy of How to Not Fall for the Guy Next Door by the author. All opinions are my own.
I had a great time and was highly entertaining with each turn of the page. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly from beginning to the end.

I laughed and smiled so much reading this book. Addison and Ian were summer friends who haven’t seen each other in thirteen years when she smacks into him with blueberry containers at the supermarket. That wasn’t their only hazard together, but it’s hard to not run into each other when she just moved into the inn she inherited next door to him. I thought it was great that instead of running it like a bed and breakfast she decided to have roommates, who each have unique personalities and careers. Addison and Ian had recently gotten out of serious relationships, so she doesn’t want to be in a rebound one. But they can’t help the attraction they feel for each other. Who wouldn’t love a guy who could put up with four rowdy kids and the one they kidnapped for an afternoon and who would plan the perfect spontaneous birthday for Addison. But he’s not perfect and comes with a lot of insecurities. This was a sweet romance with plenty of funny and romantic moments.
This book was exactly what I was expecting it to be. A real feel good, HEA romance.
I enjoyed getting to know Addi and Ian, and there were several background characters which were interesting, and I’m sure will make an appearance in their own book.
Addi and Ian both had insecurities from their past relationships and it took them a while to work through them, which caused a few bumps in the road. I found the book a little bit slow, I wanted them to get to the fun stuff, but they do, but in their own time.
If you want a lovely HEA romantic, easygoing read, this is a book for you.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Ian and Addison make an adorable couple. They are both getting over recent breakups and have a lot of fears and insecurities to overcome. I recommend this book.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Ian and Addison crushed on each other as children. Now they are adults with broken hearts and she is moving into the inn where she used to spend the summer with her aunt next to where Ian lives. This was a sweet story with a bit of fun and humor thrown in to balance out the heartache. Even though Ian and Addison fought the pull, their love finally won out.
