Sophia Andreou has always been the “good daughter” who tried to keep her domineering father happy. She followed the rules and did everything that was asked of her. But this time, her father is asking too much. The family company is crumbling, and her father has arranged a marriage to a Greek billionaire who can save their property business. What?! Umm no thank you. If Cinderella can dress up to … to win a prince, surely Sophia can do the opposite and ditch hers…
Dion Kourakis has come a long way from being an orphan with only a single friend to his name. Now he runs a billion-dollar investment company and has the respect of everyone in Europe. His charming personality covers a lot of emotional scars, including his desire to make his mentor proud. Dion doesn’t exactly want a bride to go along with his next business deal, and he plans on letting the lass down gently when they meet…
Only, his future bride has turned out to be nothing like what he thought she’d be. She’s quirky and has a habit of turning up to social events in strange outfits. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what she’s up to, but the harder she tries to convince him she’d be an awful wife, the more he wants to convince her they’d be perfect together.

Read this one after enjoying the first in this series, but I think I like this one even more!! It’s super funny but still gave me all the feels.
Stefanie London, a new-to-me author, writes about one of my favourite tropes in How to Lose a Fiancé and I was so intrigued and completely interested after reading the blurb. Plus, it had Greek’s, which also happens to one of my favourite cultures to read about so I HAD to pick this book up!
Unfortunately, I found this book to be boring and I actually resorted to flipping pages after the 60% mark. Personally, the writing felt bland, the characters not interesting enough and the spark between the two leads was lacking. I struggled to finish this book because the story itself couldn’t hold my interest for more than a few seconds.
Sophia, the female lead, started out good and with quite the potential and I understood where she was coming from but from the moment she landed in Greece I honestly found her to be quite childish. For someone like Sophia, who is not only well versed and know how things works but also has her own business, there was a certain kind of finesse I was expecting when it came to the execution of her plan. It was literally her blurting and acting on the first thing that she could think of.
Dion, the male lead, is described as someone who is powerful and at the top of the business world but for someone with an agenda, he seemed a little too laid back. For me, especially when it comes to alpha characters there is being relaxed and there is being relaxed, he was a little too much of the latter.
Sophia’s parents were absolutely useless, especially the mother who was the definition of a doormat until the epilogue rolled around.
Sophia on multiple occasions claimed that she would never be like her parents but I couldn’t help but note a few similarities in her behaviour, even though were not to that extent, were a reflection of those of her parents.
Moreover, this story is written in third person point of view and in my personal opinion it really didn’t help the telling of the story.
Overall, How to Lose a Fiancé is a quick and easy read but one that was not for me.
2.5 Stars!
This was my first read from Stefanie London and I am impressed with the story line and all the emotions I went through while reading.
Sophia reluctantly agrees to an arranged marriage to protect her mother. But she has her own plan. Dion wants to buy Sophia’s fathers company for personal reasons and if that means a bride being in deal then who is he to say no. He wants the company more than anything else. Both of them had their own agenda in mind, but would they go through with it is the question.
Once the two meet and greet, Sophia does everything she can to get Dion to cave on the arranged marriage agreement, including introducing the idea of a life of taxidermy. For his part, Dion begins to see through Sofia’s plan early on. The lightheartedness of the first half of the book helped ease me into the whole “business” end of the agreement.
What I loved most was the lack of bullshit once they both understood the other’s side. Once they were called on their manipulations, both characters were completely honest with the other and worked together to get what they wanted. As a result, there’s a refreshing lack of soap opera drama and we’re left with two fabulous characters in their own right, getting to know each other and falling in love.
I really enjoyed this book. I was chuckling and smiling the whole time I was reading it. The antics that Sophia pulled to convince Dion he did not want to go through with the arranged marriage were hilarious. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an entertaining contemporary romance that’s fast-paced, warm-hearted, and fun
A bankrupt father who, to keep up appearances and not lose share in the company he is about to sell, offers his daughter to marry as part of the deal. And despite being blackmailed to agree, with her father using her mother’s fragile health as an argument, Sophia is not satisfied.
All she wants is to live a quiet life, working as a virtual assistant and helping people organize their lives, not just being a rich man’s trophy wife. Then a plan comes up: if her future groom gives up on marriage, her father can’t blame her.
Dion doesn’t believe in the institution of marriage. Nobody knows but his desire in buying the company is just one: revenge. He wants to exterminate his father’s legacy. A father who abandoned him in an orphanage and never looked back.
Then begins a dangerous game of cat and mouse. He trying to understand the bride, she indirectly trying to convince him not to marry her. Stuffed animals, exaggerated clothes, mismatched and psychedelic … even clown trousers enter the dance. Only when the couple allows themselves to abandon all masks, similarities, mutual understanding and chemistry appear explosively.
An intriguing and engaging narrative despite third-person narration. A predictable end, but with a development full of secrets and very interesting developments to follow. A complete and recommended novel for lovers of the genre.
How do you get out of an arranged marriage when your father is the actual worst? Be the exact opposite of everything the potential groom would want.
Sophia’s antics were absolutely hilarious. I could picture all of her crazy outfits and laughed out loud to her unbelievable schemes. I loved how Dion took all her crazy in stride and did his best to roll with it. These two kept me wanting to read more to see what would happen next.
I missed the first book in this series but I’m adding it to my TBR!!
This was an entertaining, quick, fun read. It is nicely done with interesting well developed characters, a touch of humor, a smidge of sass, and a fun quickly developing storyline. While slightly predictable these characters brought a fresh feel to the story. Sophia doesn’t seem the type to go along with an arranged relationship but she played the part well. Mostly! Dion wants nothing to do with this plan until he meets Sophia and sees the depths she will go to in order to chase him off. Watching her antics are completely entertaining and Dion finds himself wrapped up in her shenanigans. Her spirit and determination win his heart and then he’s determined to win hers. Don’t miss their story, I highly recommend this entertaining read.
Holy anti-commitment Greek lonely billionaires, Batman! Ms. London has done it again.
I freaking love this book, it was fun, sweet and had it some sexiness to it. I adored Beauty and the Greek Billionaire and I was hoping Nico’s business partner would get his own story, and How to Lose a Fiancé totally did it justice.
Dion has been set on the path of revenge for as long as he can remember. Now with victory on the tip of his fingers he will do anything to achieve it, even if that means marrying some girl he’s never met.
Sophia is done being under the thumb of her dictatorial father, but she can’t see a way out of the latest mess he’s driven into without putting her mother’s health at risk. Marry some Greek suit who’s exactly like daddy dearest? Not a chance. She’ll do anything in her power to make Dion curse the day he accepted her hand in marriage as part of a business deal.
Armed with a plan and the conviction to see it through, she sets on driving Dion crazy enough to renege on the deal. She just hadn’t anticipated the sexy Greek guy to out matching her in all her ploys.
Watching Dion and Sophia butt heads was hilarious. She came up with the most outrageous schemes only to have Dion take them in stride. I absolutely loved their chemistry and dynamics and how they were exactly what the other one needed to grow as a person.
I wish we’d gotten to see a bit more of Marianna and Nico and their growing family and that the epilogue was a bit more centered in Sophia and Dion’s HEA, but this camper was really happy with what she got.
Funny, with some angst, lots of feelings and really hot chemistry How to Lose a Fiancé was a fabulous read that had me enchanted from start to finish. I can’t wait to see what Ms. London will have for us next!
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book*
What do you do when your father has committed you to an arranged marriage that you don’t want to enter into? Well, you try to lose the guy as fast as you can when you meet him!
This book definitely had lots of laughs as Sophia finds herself in Greece ready to meet the guy her father arranged for her to marry in order to save the family business. Sophia was full of spunk and knew exactly what she was doing… until she didn’t. The thing was that she never thought she would actually fall for the handsome Greek Business Man who was trying to make this whole “transaction” as seemly smooth as possible.
Dion had his reasonings for going through with the marriage. And as the two find out there they are more alike than different, lines start to blurb and plans for sabotage start to break apart.
It was a cute, quick read and I loved how to two finally found the place in their worlds and with each other.
This arranged marriage romance story has some very funny moments, but also some deeper moments. Author Stefanie London has done a wonderful job blending the two! The characters in this book are wonderful, the storyline is great, and I really enjoyed it! I have never been disappointed in a Stefanie London book, and this is another I would surely recommend!
Stefanie London has a way of bringing her stories to life and boy does she take us to a whirlwind of love. We have Dion who feels love is for the weak and doesn’t believe in it. Then Sophia who in some ways needs to grow up and well in this book she shows her true colors. The chemistry is all there but man Stefanie London has a way of making them see love can be fun and exciting in many ways. If you want to explore different places and see love grow Stefanie London is your girl loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
For the first time Sophia is rebelling. Dion is shocked when he meets her. This sets the stage for a hilarious battle of wills that takes place in the first half of the story. Both characters are hurting and need to first take a step back to discover the good things about each other. This is a beautifully written story of love and redemption. Dion and Sophia make a fairytale couple with a story book ending.
Stefanie London is a new to me author and I know that I will be adding more of her books to my reading list in the future.
I loved this story from the very beginning. Sophia’s father arranged for her to marry Greek billionaire, Dion as part of a business deal. Of course, Dion has his own reasons for agreeing to this crazy business deal. Sophia is completely against this, but she will do anything for her mother. So she comes up with a plan to scare Dion out of marrying her.
Sophia’s plan had me laughing from the way she dressed, from the way she acted and of course with her crazy hobbies she had. I loved how much a role this continued to play throughout the story.
Dion hadn’t grown up with a ton of money, he grew up in an orphanage and made a better life for himself. His childhood fueled him throughout his adult life. He purely wants to marry Sophia for selfish reasons, but what he doesn’t expect her hobbies or really anything about her. She was completely unexpected in every way possible.
This story was entertaining. There was laughs, there was a little drama, romance, steamy and overall it was just a fun story.
MS London never disappoints me with one of her stories, she really knows how to pull a reader in, she brings the characters to life, she makes me cheer them on and feel the emotions, make yourself comfy for this one you won’t want to put it down as you get to know Dion and Sophia.
Sophia Andreou lives in New York she has been controlled by her father forever and now that her father’s business is in dire straits and he needs to sell it that controlling does not stop, he is making a pact with the buyer, he must marry his daughter as well. Sophia is not happy at all and pretends to go along with the plan until she reaches Corfu, then she takes up a game plan to ensure her future husband will send her back to New York.
Dion Kourakis has grown up in an orphanage, he has one best friend Nico and his mentor Elias other than that he is a loner and is a self- made billionaire, when he sees that his father’s company is for sale he jumps at the chance to buy it for personal reasons and he wants it at all costs even if it means marrying the owner’s daughter, she appears to be good wife material even if that is never what he wanted, but when Sophia arrives things don’t go to plan.
This is such a great story fun, sensual and very moving I loved Dion what a hero truly he had a few issues that he needed to overcome and Sophia with her quirky and caring ways is just the person to make him see that love is what he needs and together they find that happiness. There were many laughs throughout this story strange animals turning up in odd places clothes that are beyond belief, but above all a true deep love that had me sighing and smiling. Thank you MS London for another fabulous story one that I highly recommend
Sophia is tired of being told how to live her life by her overbearing, overprotecting father. When he calls her into his office to let her know she will be sent to Greece to marry a stranger she has had enough. She doesn’t care that Dion’s acquisition of her father’s company will save their family, according to her father. She only wants her freedom. After thinking things through she decides to be the worst possible fiancé any one man could ever imagine. That way he’d be forced to send her home and she’d be free to follow her dreams.
Dion can’t believe he agreed to marry the daughter of the man in charge of the company he wants to acquire. His bastard of a biological fathers old company, but no one will know that little tidbit of information. He looked Sophia up online and she seemed to fit into the stereotypical corporate wife he needs. Too bad the walking disaster that heads over to him in the airport is not quite what he was expecting.
Part of Sophia’s plan involves dressing as wildly as she can without trying to look like she has gone off the deep end. The itchy woolen sweater she chose to change into when they landed only adds to the hideousness of it all. The look on Dion’s face is worth the itching. Now to fully put her plan into action, she must find a taxidermy fox.
Dion has no idea what to do with this hideous fox that has somehow made its way into his home. Soon hatching a plot with the fox (like we first encountered in book 1 How to win a fiance with the traveling cat), he figures out what Sophia is actually up to and together they agree to find a common ground and go ahead with the wedding. Theirs could be a good friendship opportunity for each other, each getting what they desire in life.
Dion and Sophia have pasts and families that don’t lend themselves to Hallmark Movie Channel heart touching sentiment. Dion loses the one father figure he has, and Sophia’s actual father is lacking in just about every redeeming quality. They work through it together and make their own family ties. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance reader copy without expectations. 4 ½ stars for this newest release from Ms. London.
Betrothed Unexpected….
My weaknesses, Alpha male with a heart (have to dig deep for it) sexy, hot and oh yes a Billionaire. Dion Kourakis fills my checklist to a “T”. He is someone I would work very hard to unravel his many layers to see how he ticks. Dion had a rough upbringing with a lack of emotional bond with anyone. You can understand the way he runs his business and personal life, very surface and impersonal. He does not want to be burned again.
Sophia Andreou does not ask for much in life. She just wants to be able to make her own decisions and not have them made for her. It’s impossible for that to happen when you have a smothering father who has her on a short leash. Dion and Sophia are paired together by business and family and they could not be more opposite in personalities. It was a delight to watch them interact together. Their chemistry was one they could not deny. Once they got to know one another better the pull between them could not be restrained. Their story was a joy to read as they both discover they are not all that different after all.
Fun, romantic read. Enjoyed this story from the first word to the last. Dion is a man that has his own insecurities behind his billionaire ways. Sophia has to figure out who she really is and how to get to where she really wants to be. The bumps along the way will keep you engaged in the story. Along with the quirky humor. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review
How to Lose a Fiance is a contemporary romance about a forced marriage. It’s well written, it has a dual POV, very creative with the characters and a great plot.
The correct greek phrases were much appreciated. It’s a fun read with a few emotional parts, a couple steamy scenes but mostly hilarious moments. It’s definitely
a page-turner with its captivating storyline and the whimsical characters. My favorite parts were the scary moments with Sasha. I loved every minute of reading it and I will rate it with 4.8 stars.
I really enjoyed this book. I was chuckling and smiling the whole time I was reading it. The antics that Sophia pulled to convince Dion he did not want to go through with the arranged marriage were hilarious. The clown pants were a hoot but what killed me was the taxidermy namely Baroness Sasha Foxington III. Even with the crazy clothes that Sophia wore there was just something about her that drew Dion to her. He couldn’t figure it out because the kind of woman she was portraying was definitely not someone he would want to be with. Once he figured it out and Sophia was able to be herself they both had trouble fighting their attraction to each other even though neither of them wanted the arranged marriage. They spent a week in Paris to see if Dion could convince Sophia to go along with the arranged marriage and she was able to offer up “demands” that she wanted were she to go along with it.
I loved that BSF became an inside private joke for them and that she popped up throughout. It showed that Dion and Sophia were connecting in more than a physical way. Of course not everything is easy and when Dion had to deal with the death of someone close to him he pushed Sophia away in the process. Luckily Dion comes to the realization that he did in fact fall in love with Sophia and needed to fix what he ruined between them. I loved these two together from the beginning. There was just something about the chemistry between them that worked even when they didn’t want to work.
Sophia Andreau is ruled by her father and her fear keeps here under this thumb. When he tells her she must marry a man of his choice to save his business she doesn’t have the nerve to say no. She also feels by leaving she can get her mother to leave her husband . Dion Kourakis is the man he chooses and he agrees to the marriage as he has an hidden reason for wanting his business. That’s a secret I won’t tell, you’ll find out when you read the book. Dion is gorgeous and is wealthy and up and coming so the only way to get him to not marry her she make herself hideous with wild ugly clothes and insists she needs her fox and friends that are taxidermied to live in his house. This is the beginning of a truly fantastic story of two people with a dark past that slowly peel back the layers of each other to see their true self, and Ms. London has again written a page turner that you don’t want to put down. You will fall in love with Dion and Sophia and his mentor Elias and her stuffed fox named the Baroness Sasha Foxington III. Second in her series and awesome.
How to Lose A Fiance is my first read by Stefanie London, it is an enjoyable read. I found Dion to be a very sexy greek billionaire, he had a deal planned out to buy a company and take a little back from a past he wants to forget. He never expected it would come with a fiance. Not a problem. Dion is great at getting what he wants and he can make this marriage work and end it when the time is up.
Sophia Andreou did everything to make her parents happy, happy home can keep a controlling father content. She never would have thought that he would include her in a business contract as a bonus deal. Sophia is a hilarious character that will do about anything to break free from her father’s contract. Will she want to end the marriage after getting to know the real Dion Kourakis?
I like these characters, they are strong, quirky, and their chemistry is hot. This storyline has humor and heartbreak. A love that grows from slowly and truly getting to know each other. This is a 4 Star Sweet Summer Read!
