How to Date Your Brother’s Best Friend is my favourite trope and was a great read! Julie Kriss is a new author to me and most definitely will read more by her! I did like the flow of Dean and Holly’s relationship we had some up and down moments, lots of heated sexy moments! Fantastic ending!
Hello handsome…
Big brother’s best friend…
Town bad boy…
Gives zero facks and does his thing…
Ridiculously handsome…
Former Marine…
Yeah it paints a picture and Julie Kriss is the artist. One gorgeous and loving bad boyfriend for the win…or did he!?!
A bet neither wants to go wrong and emotions neither wants to spill makes How to Date Your Brother’s Best Friend (formerly Bad Boyfriend) a little tense, a lot hot, and just the thing you need to read.
6 Stars! Excellent Read, Time well spent!
I loved this book! I don’t remember reading anything written by this author before HOW TO DATE YOUR BROTHER’S BEST FRIEND. I intend to change that! Julie Kriss has alerted me to her prowess as a great author.
This storyline is just unique enough to be different from the norm. The characters interact so well together that there is never a dull moment. There is heat, tears, laughter, and a theme that had me looking forward to the end. Yet, I didn’t want the book to end. I would have been happy with a few more chapters.
WOW! This book was unexpected in every good way. It’s not just a brother’s best friend book. You’ll laugh and cry with the emotions this author stirs up in her writing. Excellent writing with deeply developed characters you’ll fall for.
Holly Carsleigh has known Dean Madden for years and she’s always liked him. But when he returns from four years with the marines he’s bigger and hotter than ever and she finds herself drawn to him all over again. Then a game of truth or dare changes everything.
Dean Madden was adopted at the age of eight when his mom died but he’s always felt like he was living on the outside of life. He learned at a young age to bury his emotions until he didn’t feel anything. Now he’s home and his best friend’s little sister has grown up and he’s feeling things he’s never felt before. Then a silly game has the two involved in a month of dates, and Dean feels like a lucky man. But if Jason finds out he’s dating his little sister he’ll be a dead man.
Then another tragedy forces Dean to finally deal with all his deeply buried emotions or he may not survive it.
The sex was a little over done and some clean up with typos and switching tense and perspective in the same sentence but I overlooked it all for the heartfelt story itself.
I really liked the idea of this story. Holly always crushed on her older brother’s best friend, Dean. Dean is the bad boy that is troubled and doesn’t think he deserves anyone’s love. He was a foster kid that was fortunate to develop an amazing friendship with Holly’s brother Jason. Before he left for the Marines, he saw Holly still as a little sister, but when he returns he realizes she has grown into a beautiful woman.
Things heat up pretty quickly and somehow Holly strikes up a deal that Dean will be her boyfriend for four weeks. He thinks she will break up with him before then, and she knows there is no way that would ever happen.
There are A LOT of descriptive sex scenes, but I didn’t feel the slow burn that I generally would in a transition friends to lovers story. Their relationship seemed more one of convenience, rather than the undeniable kind of chemistry where a couple is drawn together because they are meant to me. They spent a lot of time apart in the last third of the book and I got the feeling that they would be fine without each other.
Audio Review
This book has so much going for it. It is full of emotions and past hurts that need to heal as well as a long time crush that grows into love.
Holly has had a crush on Dean since she was a kid. He is her brothers best friend and he spent so much time at her house when they were young that he is familiar. When Dean grows up and goes away for a few years Holly moves on and does her own thing that is until he is back and looking so good and right there tempting her.
Dean can’t fall for his best friends little sister, he just can’t. He isn’t the relationship kind of guy, he is a love them and move on guy but when Holly proposes a bet between them for 4 weeks it is one he can’t pass up.
This book has so much heart and emotion that it just melted me. I loved all the characters and wanted Dean and Holly to find their happily ever after. I wanted to wrap Dean in my arms for a big hug and high five Holly for being such a great young woman. It is hot and sweet and funny at times as well and has some places that will pull at your heart.
Jacob Morgan and Savannah Peachwood were terrific narrating this book. The emotion that was needed for Dean was delivered by Jacob. He was perfect as Dean. Savannah is also great and I loved listening to her as Holly. I devoured this book I enjoyed it so much and look forward to more from this author. Everything I have listened to by this author I have enjoyed.
I enjoyed the story and would recommend it. The book flowed nicely, no lagging or rushing. The dialog is intelligent and engaging. The steam level is high and the characters were likeable. It is well written and and the characters are fully fleshed out. This was my first book by this author, but it won’t be my last.
Be still my heart! I adored Dean and Holly! Moving on to the next one!
How to Date Your Brother’s Best Friend by Julie Kriss is a wonderful romance novel that I never wanted to end. It’s the story of a broken man named Dean, who thinks that he is undeserving of love, and a sweet and smart young woman named Holly, who has had a crush on Dean, who is her brother, Jason’s best friend, since she was a kid. After Dean and Jason return home after serving 4 years as Marines, Holly, now 22 years old, runs into Dean, who is now 24 years old, at a party. Dean sees Holly to a guy that they both knew in high school and for some reason that he doesn’t understand, gets jealous. He goes to Holly, takes her over his shoulder, and marches upstairs. Holly becomes upset with Dean because the guy she was talking to was about to ask her out on a date, and she and Dean end up leaving the party together and rekindle their friendship. I’m not going to tell you what happens next because I don’t do spoilers, but I will say that if you love reading romance novels then you will definitely enjoy this book.
Just erotica. Not much of a story. Which was disappointing. Could have been a great one. I read the next book first and liked that one. I am glad I read it first because I probably wouldn’t have if I read this one first. For those who care, it is a standalone and a happy ever after.
I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would. I enjoyed the characters and I thought the author gave them great dimension. The issues they had were believable and the story wasn’t really predictable. I’m looking forward to the second book. Honestly, when I first started reading it I didn’t think I’d like it, but I’m glad I kept reading.
All about the bad boy! Resilient! He found a good girl!
Easy to read
I really liked this book. Holly and Dean’s story is entertaining, hot, sweet and fun to read. There’re more than meet the eye. Firstly Holly and Dean seem to come from different worlds but they’re perfecto for each other.
They grow together and learn to deal with life in different ways. They have issues. Their attraction is undeniable but also there’s caring and feelings.
Great romantic reading.
I liked this book because it wasn’t all lovey dovey, life is perfect and we have a perfect relationship. Much closer to REAL life!
I can’t even tell you how much I loved this book. I was surprised by its depth which is belied by its title (which suggests a much lighter romance). Definitely worth a read. Adding this author to my favorites!
Good read!
Love Love Love this book
Loved this book!
Great to read a story going past high school success, showing how bewildering adult life can be, and how good love can be even the when no one is a millionaire.
