CRUDE. ARROGANT. A**HOLE.No doubt about it, Sebastian ‘Oz’ Osborne is the university’s most celebrated student athlete—and possibly the biggest douchebag. A walking, talking cliché, he has a filthy mouth, a fantastic body, and doesn’t give a sh*t about what you or anyone else thinks. SMART. CLASSY. CONSERVATIVE.Make no mistake, Jameson Clarke may be the university’s most diligent student—but she … may be the university’s most diligent student—but she is no prude. Spending most of her time in the hallowed halls of the library, James is wary of pervs, jocks, and douchebags—and Oz Osborne is all three.
She’s smart, sarcastic—and not what he expected.
…EVERY DOUCHBAG HAS HIS WEAKNESS.
He wants to be friends.
He wants to spend time with her.
He wants to drive her crazy.
He wants…
Her.

I loved this book, so much so, I read it twice back to back. I can’t recommend this book, this author and this series enough. A great read!
This book is a must read. It had me from the start and I couldn’t put it down. Jameson is awesome. I loved her from the beginning. Oz is sexy and a wrestler. He is used to getting all of the girls and he thinks it will be easy with James. He guessed wrong. She kept him on his toes. He was challenged to get her to kiss him. It was funny with the stuff she said back to him. It threw him off. I absolutely loved it. I highly recommend reading this book. This book had me laughing out loud.
Fun. Cute. Entertaining
The Studying Hours was an enjoyable read. I enjoyed the banter between Jameson and Sebastian.
Jameson is good at making herself, not seem like the average college student. With her Cardigans and constantly studying in the library. There is a different side of Jameson though, as usual people are quick to judge someone without even knowing them. Sebastian, well he is a douche. It’s all about that notch on the best post, that, of course, is until he meets his match.
Jameson has no idea who Sebastian aka Oz is. Which I think gives her the upper hand. Their relationship is very complicated at first. She has no time for a douche like him. She can play a role, as the girl who doesn’t care at all what Oz does. I think if she pushed anything, he would have just left her alone. But these things never happen to Oz.
The sexual tension was there throughout the book. Ney has lovely way of writing, that keeps you there, on some edge. Waiting to see what else is going to happen. It was great to see how these two grew as characters. I loved Jameson, she was strong and held on to what she believed in.
Overall, Four Boundless Stars.
Oz is a pretty loveable douchebag
I originally read this as an ebook a few years ago. I remember being sucked into in part because I went to Iowa and I was from a huge wrestling school. I love Oz & James. Their whole dynamic was so entertaining. The audiobook was just as entertaining as my initial read was. I still love them!
Such a cute story..I love the fact that she has a boy’s name…and that she takes no sh… from anyone..I love how he saw through her appearance and found some worth holding on to…I can’t wait for Zeke’s story and see who will take him “down”.

Review:
I was contemplating whether or not I wanted to read this book. I really wanted to read the 3d one in this series but couldn’t not begin at the beginning of the series. So I picked it up.
I struggled a little bit to get into the story, don’t know why. There wasn’t anything wrong with how the story started. It just took me a second to get sucked into the story.
While I didn’t connect as much with the characters as I would have liked, I still found this a fun story. I wished their backgrounds where a bit more developed, we know barely nothing about Jameson’s live before collage, what she is studying (must have missed it) and why (maybe I missed that too). We got a bit of background of Sebastian but I would have liked more detail.
While I thought Sebastian had a bit of an ego, and could be a bit of an ass at times, I did find him charming. He did make it clear what he wanted from Jameson.
I liked Jameson’s sass and that she stood her ground but she was a bit clueless at times.
Overall I liked the story. It was a fun read.
Rating:
3 1/2 I liked it stars.
*** 4.5
I can’t believe it took me so long to pick this book up. The girl should had punch me in the face for delaying this great read. The Studying Hours is the first book of Sara Ney’s How to Date a Douchebag Series and my first read from this author but definitely not my last.
This was an addicting and super fun read. Each chapter starts with a pick up line or a dating tip that brought a smile and a laugh out of me. This was really unique and a great touch to the book.
Let’s talk real quick about the main characters. This will be short ladies because I need to grab book 2. No time to waste. I already waited 2 years to start.
Sebastian “Oz” Osborn is a cocky bastard. He is a wrestler, a man whore and sexy as hell. The best and worst part, he knows it and ain’t afraid to show it. He has always got what he wants. He sure made me laugh a LOT with all his sexual innuendos and sex jokes. He can’t, for the life of him, understand how a woman can say NO to his sexy swagger. Underneath all those neanderthal ways he was sweet and just a guy afraid of getting hurt. He just needed the right woman to make him grow out of that.
In comes Jameson Victoria Clack. The super intelligent, sexy ( in a naughty librarian kinda way) and independent woman. She is not impressed with Oz antics and comments. I swear if James kept up the rolling of her eyes every time Oz came with his shenanigans the poor girl would had her eyes on the back of her head. James will show Oz how appearances can be deceiving and put him in his places.
The banter between this two was spectacular and I couldn’t wait to see how they will finally succumb to all the sexual tension. Now I’ll go see which Douchebag is next.
I went into reading this book excited. I loved another series by Sara Ney. But I didn’t love this one. It started out great and exciting. Then the last few chapters it looses something. And by the end I wasn’t sure what was going on. I did get my happy ending though.
LE SIGH. This series, these characters, I can’t get enough of them.
After reading my first Sara Ney book — The Learning Hours — I had to read the other two books in the series. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed.
I’m can’t stress enough how amazing this series is. Not only are they filled with so much humor, but it has heart in it as well.
I’ve always loved reading romance novels where the main characters are complete opposites. And that was Sebastian and James for you, complete opposites, yet I felt like they were the perfect match.
Sebastian is an arrogant college wrestler but MY GOD, he was such a romantic. Who would have thought, huh? To say I was shocked would be an understatement. There’s so much more to Sebastian, I’ll tell you that much. He’s not alway such a douche.
Now, for the heroine, Jameson . . . FAV HEROINE EVER! I adored that girl. She was a feisty one and it made me love her that much more. I mean, yeah, sometimes she was a bit shy and unsure, but I still liked how she didn’t take any crap from Sebastian. Jameson made Sebastian work for it. Even when he was making it hard by being irresistible.
Seriously guys, give Sara Ney (and this series) a chance, if you still haven’t read any of her books. You can thank me later because there is no doubt in my mind that you won’t fall for these delicious, douchey heroes.
Jameson & Oz’s story had me laughing alot, she refused to take his crap and he had no idea how to deal with it. As the story progresses and the sexual tension is off the chart at times, neither one of them really change who they are. They get to the point that they see each other for who they really are not just the first impression, although the first impression is not that far off the mark. All the characters were comical and witty that it wasn’t very hard to fall in love with the story. Now I can not wait to get into the next book!
Crossing paths with a jerk in college is nothing new, but Sebastian Osbourne isn’t your typical jock. Oz is what many females would call a douchebag. Yet – that obnoxious mouth doesn’t seem to deter anyone of the female persuasion. Oz has plenty of conquests just waiting in the wings.
What Oz doesn’t have at his disposal is a girl like Jameson Clarke. The straight laced student, that gives all outward appearances of being the opposite of any female that Oz would be attracted towards, is getting ready to throw Oz’s world on his head. Never has the jock met anyone like this girl that can’t seem to stay out of the library.
Armed with snark and a laptop, James knows exactly the kind of guy that Oz can be. What James wasn’t prepared for was the persistent way in which Oz attempted to get her attention. Wearing her defenses down was the name of the game, but was the outcome what either of them expected??
Get ready for a whirlwind of a romance when Oz hits your reader. This jock knows how to talk a good game, but James can dish it out in a way that leaves the rugged wrestler coming back for seconds. The banter between these two characters is funny and entertaining. A connection that I couldn’t wait to see unravel at the seams.
What I wasn’t prepared for was the lack of development towards the end of the tale. A rush towards an ending that didn’t give the appearance that this story was complete. It was distracting and a bit confusing. Why the rush to leave this story? James’ character is far from complete as we get to the last chapters, and definitely has ‘gaps’ in her contribution to the tale. Maybe this was supposed to happen to get you to read more books in the series?? Not sure – but the way the story was left hanging did nothing for its appeal. It was just too much to ignore.
So – all the cuteness and witty banter between Oz and James just flew out the window with this chase to end the story. Don’t get me wrong, the wit really was a draw in this not so traditional romance. All of the content issues rest solely in the rush to end a story that was far from over.
Sara Ney has the uncanny ability to keep you on your toes throughout this fun, sexy, and incredibly entertaining tale.
I have laughed, snorted, and smirked. I’ve been appalled, indignant, and ready to Hulk Smash. It’s easy to get carried away in the antics of Oz and James. With the perfect segway into the next story in this series…
They are like pringles once you start…you can’t stop!
I had so much fun listening to The Studying Hours, the first book in the How to Date a Douchebag series, by Sara Ney. Since I have started reading/listening to this author’s work, I’ve come to learn that she is the queen of slow burning romances with huge build ups and lots of laughs and I love her for it. Oz and James were everything. Everything. One of my all-time favorite couples for sure!
Sebastian “Oz” Osborne is a hot commodity at his University as one of the best, if not best, wrestler on the team. He can, and often does, have any girl he wants, but only for a moment. He does not do relationships. Jameson Clarke is one dedicated student. It’s not that she does not want to date, but school is important to her and the last thing she needs is a jock that does not do relationships.
When Oz and James meet, it was not under the best circumstances, but something about the obnoxious and crude athlete draws James in. And James is most definitely not Oz’s type, but something about her drives him crazy, in all the right ways. I loved these two characters so much. On paper they should not mesh at all, but I love every single ones of their interactions. I burst out laughing so many times. Their build-up was sweet, charming and frustrating in all the best ways.
I cannot begin to express how much I enjoyed listening to this book and could not stop talking about it. I want to scream at the top of roofs to anyone who would listen they need to read/listen to this book. It was just so much fun and light, there were small amount of angsty moments, but overall, just a fun read/listen. I can definitely say, if Sara Ney wrote it, I will be 1-clicking for sure!
Happy reading!
OMG .. this one hillarious romance… i love the humour… how Sebastian meet the woman who can challenge him… Rules after rules… the intensity of seduction is crazy fun… love how the story goes..
***4 Stars***
Soooo…I did what I try not to do with this series, I didn’t read the books in order. It’s not so much that I’m OCD about it, but I do prefer reading in order, even if the books are touted as being standalones. But after listening to The Learning Hours I knew I’d be making time to get to the first two, especially Zeke’s book, and whadda know? I really enjoyed The Studying Hours. Oz and James’ journey had me laughing and rolling my eyes in equal measure while I kept turning the pages until the very end.
The descriptions of both Oz and James in the synopsis are definitely on point, but as always there is so much more to both of them. Oz is relentless when he wants something and though he is crude, and is a douchebag, there is a sweet, and quite honorable side to that intrigued me. James was all kinds of fun. Snarky, sweet and hard working. I loved how comfortable she was in her own skin. What people saw on the surface wasn’t a lie in any way, but it was what was going on underneath that made her a lot of fun.
With Oz being a douche and James being snarky, their journey gave me whiplash, but in a good way. I know that sounds strange, but it made watching them both fall that much more fun. There was quite a bit of push/pull between them, but the chemistry was always there. They had their issues, but I loved how everything worked out in the end for them.
The Studying Hours was a fun read. I was hooked from the start and had a difficult time putting it down. Simply based on the description of Oz it’s very safe to say that things do get a little crazy, but it’s balanced out with some great heartfelt moments. And as for the secondary caste of characters, I liked them all, but I’m all about Zeke, so it’s time to get my hands on The Failing Hours and find out what makes that douchebag tick!
I have read, and reread this book. I love Jameson, she’s awesome. The banter, the pursuit, and the realistic doucheiness of the male lead.
What a book absolutely loved it and it was exactly the book I needed, I have missed my college popular guy and the nerdy girl type of stories.
I loved this book for many reasons, it was so about the chase and it really did show us how guys think when it comes to the opposite sex and let’s be honest when it comes to relationships they can really suck sometimes.
Sebastian was an awesome character he was funny, spoke what he was thinking even if it was the wrong thing to say he owned it and went with it. Underneath his hard exterior you knew there was a good heart and it just needed that someone special to bring it out.
Jameson she was a hoot, she made me laugh so many times and I loved her strength and her tenacity, I really like how she respected herself not too fall for the arrogant male who things he can get anyone he wants and she makes him pretty much fight for her.
This was such a perfect book just loved the humor, the romance the typical college guys. It was a slow burn with some angst I just loved everything about it and I can’t wait for the next book and to get into a lot more of Sara Neys books
5+++++++++++++++++ stars for this beauty of a book
I’m not usually much for new adult books, but I’ve been drawn to them more recently. This was a good read, and I did enjoy it.
Sebastian is an arrogant athlete on campus. Jameson is a studious student. There’s an instant pull, and despite their differences, they become friends. Until they’re both ready for more.
There’s no doubt that Sara Ney can write. She wrote Sebastian to be exactly what he was supposed to be, and James was his complete opposite in so many ways. I had a more difficult time connecting with these two characters, though. I will definitely read the other books in this series because I did enjoy the plot.
NO SPOILERS!
Oh my gosh, The Studying Hours was AMAZING! Where has Sara Ney been all my reading “career”?! This book was a sexy, hilarious, and entertaining standalone New Adult sports romance, and it completely exceeded my expectations! Sara Ney did a phenomenal job with the storyline and characters, and I absolutely loved her writing style and sense of humor. I laughed out loud so many times from beginning to end that I seriously lost count. The Studying Hours was my first Sara Ney novel, and it most definitely won’t be the last!
Sebastian and Jameson were amazing and I loved them and their story so freaking much.
