When you’re competing, the last thing you should do is fall in love…especially with your rival.
Wren turned up out of nowhere and now he’s my boss…kind of. He’s also a straight, closed-off, emotionless icicle. Who cares if he’s also drop dead gorgeous, with eyes you could get lost in?
Tom is beautiful, colorful, strong, creative, and my eyes can’t stop following him everywhere he goes. He … in?
Tom is beautiful, colorful, strong, creative, and my eyes can’t stop following him everywhere he goes. He also works for my parents, which means he’s off limits. That, and I haven’t told them that I’m bi yet.
A baking competition with high stakes
Two men who both need that prize money
When the heat moves from the kitchen to the bedroom, will Tom and Wren put their rivalry aside? Or is what they stand to lose more important than their growing feelings?
Welcome to Chester Falls, where you can expect to meet sweet men, sexy situations, interfering friends, lots of feels, and a happy ever after.
Book two in the Chester Falls series. How To Catch a Rival is a standalone sweet and steamy MM romance novel with no cliffhanger, and a guaranteed HEA.

Absolutely adorable!!! I loved it!!! It was so sweet. I loved the characters, the story line, the emotions and the character development. I loved Tom’s colourful phrases. I had so much fun laughing with his character. I could’nt stop reading. Auntie Gina is a hoot. I can not wait to see what happens next. I have so much fun reading this series. Well done on another amazing book Ana Ashley!!
Tom is so fabulous. I loved him as a side character and best friend of Charlie from the first book and of course he is too sparkly to not get his own story! This is a sweet low angst tale about two people who are rivals, but not really, for some prize money during an amateur bake off. Loved it! I also like how this one segues into the next book which I have already read. It’s pretty good too! I just love Chester Falls!
Really loved the chemistry between Wren and Tom. This is a no angst book with high heat and lots of sugary cocktails to enjoy. Now off to read how to catch a bodyguard
Tom was Charlie’s roommate in How to Catch a Prince. I loved his flair! Wren is Tom’s boss’s son and has come home because his dad is in the hospital. They have an instant attraction, but Wren hides it. He hasn’t come out to his family yet. Tom was the best!! I loved his be true to yourself attitude!! I loved the bake off!! This was sooo freakin good, connection and serious chemistry. Lots of fun and steamy times. Highly recommend. I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received.
I enjoyed this sweet, entertaining, pretty low-angst read. Tom is loud and colorful, while Wren is more quiet and reserved, but boy are they hot together. Their are a few twists and turns, including one surprise villain at the end that didn’t really seem necessary or to really add anything to the story, but that’s a minor quibble. The main and secondary characters are all great and very relatable. This is the second book in the series, and while it could be stand alone, you will get a better knowledge of who some of the supporting characters are if you have already read the first book.
I received a free copy of this ebook from the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
Rivalry, but not real rivals, the way it works out
The weird magic of Chester Falls strikes again, failure and shattered dreams, a near death experience, heartache, angst and hopelessness all somehow get turned around into being positive. Being miserable doesn’t seem to be a long term option in Chester Falls. Despite the sizzling connection between Tom and Wren, I couldn’t see how a happy ending was ever going to happen, I was pleased to be wrong. This works as a standalone but reading How to catch a prince does add to story, since several characters are in both books.
Good storyline that progresses nicely without some big over the top drama, very enjoyable.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good dialogues
Secondary characters is intriguing and i will start on the next at once.
Narrator:
Clear pronunciation and read with feelings. I fell like he really makes the characters come alive in this audio.
5 stars overall, I recommend if you like sweet, hot and fun stories that are easy to listen to.
This book was both cute and super sexy!
That’s what happens when you put a super sparkly fashion-loving sexy twink like Tom Jones in close proximity to a (maybe) closeted bi, sexy hunk, ex football pleyer like Wren Mason.
The push and pull is strong for both of them, but the attraction is so strong to overcome everything else.
I’m really loving this new series by Ana Ashley, low-angst stories set in the quaint little town of Chester Falls, which is so supportive they have a month-long Pride celebration in October.
I can’t wait to read many more stories!
Firecracker Tom from How to Catch a Prince is back in his own love story set in Chester Falls. Tom never expected to fall for Wren, the oldest son of his bosses, but such is life and their fall into love was funny and sweet and adorable. A light and airy read for the cold winter month of January
As expected, another cute love story that warmed my heart and makes me want to read more. Tom we met briefly in ‘How to Catch a Prince’. He was worthy if his own book. Tom moves to Chester Falls and just fits in, but there is a lack of love interest… that is until Wren comes into town. Thought to be straight, Tom is still drawn to him… and of course Wren had interest in Tom, being “his type”, but since Wren is stilled closeted to his parents and hometown friends. After getting more exposure to each other, it’s becoming harder to withstand their mutual attraction. Although suspicious, Tom was still taken aback with a kiss from Wren.. the rivalry of the Pride Bake off does cause some issues… thankfully all that is overcome and life is an HEA! On to the next!
Yes, Tom’s book
After listening to how to catch a Prince I needed to listen to the second book in this series and it was so worth it. Tom is fabulous and the book is so well written.
This was a great book when I read it, but to actually hear Nick Hudson read this has transformed the characters and brought them to life in a colourful way.
Wren is a big jock, Tom is a very stylish colourful gay icon who is following his dream.
The story is far from conventional and will have you laughing in parts.
You don’t have to read, how to catch a Prince first but some of the characters pop up in this book.
The series is worth reading. So far 3 books, all if which are very good reads.
The first 2 are now on Audible with Nick reading both. Such a great narrator, highly recommend. Xx
I really loved it. It was sweet and cute and funny and the main characters had great chemistry.
How to Catch a Rival is the second book in the Chester Falls series. It can be read as a standalone but I found it much more enjoyable to be read after the first book.
Tom has recently moved to Chester Falls to pursue his dream of owning his own fashion boutique. While he’s working towards that dream he works for the loveliest couple at their store. A tragic medical emergency brings Wren, the son of Tom’s bosses, back home to help his parents and the store. Through an unexpected twist, Tom and Wren find themselves competing against each other in the town’s baking competition for the $10,000 prize. But even as they compete against each other, Tom and Wren find that their rivalry can’t outdo the attraction and desire they feel for each other.
The second book in the Chester Falls series continues the theme of fluffy Hallmark movie-esque romances that have enough drama and angst to keep the plot entertaining. I really enjoyed Tom and Wren’s romance, even as they grappled with being rivals and figuring out how their future would look like. The baking competition was less Cut Throat Kitchen and more The Great British Bake Off, which I found really enjoyable. I liked the comradeship and enthusiasm everyone had during the competition.
Nick Hudson narrated this audiobook, and like the first book, he does a fabulous job. He kept character voices consistent not only throughout this audiobook, but also matching how they sounded like in the first audiobook. I also really like Nick’s voice and find it really pleasant and entertaining to listen to. Like the first audiobook, he had a cute little remark that he added in the author’s note at the end of the book. The audiobook production was well done with no glitches.
Holy glitter love!
Tom won me over. I was surprised that his story was next but it was so fun to read. It also made me very hungry. Tom is, well, glitterific. His story stole my heart and I think Wren has his hands full but would you really want it any other way? Wren, by the way, is sexy. He can cook, is sweet, and he controls the field when he plays. I really want to visit Chester Falls to meet everyone and see the town. Another wonderful love story and I’m off to see a bodyguard.
Holy Coco Chanel!!
I absolutely loved Tom ever since his first scene in the “How to Catch a Prince”!! Although I thought he would be a bit more sassy, I still enjoyed his and Wrens story. I also enjoyed the baking competition aspect. It was nice to see the previous characters. I’m excited to read what happens next with the way this one ended. Oh, please have a story for Aiden and Indy, maybe even together!!! ::Fingers Crossed::
4 ½ Stars
I enjoyed this. How to Catch a Rival is an excellent addition to the Chester Falls series. I enjoyed seeing characters from book one and how they interacted with Tom and Wren.
The author kept my interest with well-defined characters and an exciting and unique (to me, at least) storyline.
Tom’s personality sucked me in right away. His quirkiness and joy for life kept me in a happy place throughout the book. His dedication to achieving his goals in life had me rooting for him from the very first.
Wren was harder for me to get close to, but I got there and enjoyed his time on the pages. When he finally found his courage, I felt validated in my support for him.
These guys had a good banter going after they relaxed with each other. And the spicy times were scorching.
Sadly, I found it distracting when particular phrasing or word usage was not native to the country. That made me drop ½ a star for the interruption in the reading flow.
Otherwise? Great Book!
I look forward to more from Chester Falls with this author.
Can’t help but fall in love!
The boys from Chester Falls are so sweet and lovable. Even transplants like Tom have been endeared to the town of Chester Falls!
Tom decided to move to Chester Falls when his roommate and bestfriend married his Prince Charming. He was alone and very lonely in Boston without his bestfriend. He works for the Abi and Jonas Mason who are both kind to him.
Wren hasn’t been home for a few years. He is currently a Coach to high school football after his own career halted with a knee injury. But his parents do not know this, they also don’t know that he is Bi.
This is a love story between two rivals who can’t help but fall in love with each other amidst all the events happening atound them. Very sweet, you can’t help but fall in live as well! I cannot wait for the next book!
I don’t even know where to start! This story was absolutely perfect!
I loved the MCs! I have never ”met” a characters I wanted to hug as much as Tom. And then get buzzed on his cocktails and talk unicorns. Absolutely brilliant!
The story itself was also perfectly balanced – the happy and the cute, and the drama, with a dash of riddiculous to round it up. It will totally be one of my top 2020 reads!
This book just gave me all the feels. I loved revisiting Chester Falls and all the great people that live there. Tom and Wren have such an amazing chemistry together and the heat is amazing. Ana knows how to write a great story. I loved that we got to see Charlie and Kris in this book as well as some of the other supporting characters from How to Catch a Prince. This series is quickly becoming my favorite for all of the amazing characters and great town. I can’t wait to read the next one!
Tom is back and he is at his fabulous best.
The owner of the shop where Tom works has a serious health scare and their son Wren comes back home to help.
They both decide to enter the towns baking competition for various reasons, namely the prize money.
Tom is an absolute sweetheart and poor Wren was having some difficulties trying to be open and honest about his life.
They had great chemistry and great banter.
A quick, sweet read with some mild angst easily resolved.
