This was a fun read. I sort of knew how it would end and was happy that it fulfilled my expectations.
The misadventures of a woman trying to cover up a fib she made to her grandmother to make her happy
Enjoyable Regency romance
I enjoyed this tale of Fiona the social misfit who wants to be an archeologist, but instead gains notoriety – and a lifetime of love. She inadvertently kidnaps a duke – the kidnapping is deliberate; she was unaware of the title – and ends up as his duchess. Between the crime and HEA are all manner of misadventures, unexpected twists, and romantic trysts, which makes this a most entertaining story.
I enjoyed this book.
too many inconsistencies – needed a good proofreader or editor.
A good read. Kept me up past my bedtime. Great flawed hero and spunky heroine.
Could not wait to return to the book. Was a great read.
Great plot!!
A bit different type of plot. Enjoyed it.
A romantic comedy of errors!
Thought it entertaining!
It was an easy to read time-filler with the obligatory hea
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to more of the same. I identified with the heroine and admired her lover.
seemed like this was written by a middle-school age author
I enjoyed reading this. There are several situations where assumptions lead to amusing misunderstandings, the best being when Fiona stops the mail coach. However, this is not a funny story. But it is quick, fluid read.
Fiona Amberly lives an isolated life away from the ton. Percival is nearly as uncomfortable in the ton as Fiona is, never expecting to inherit the title. It was rather odd that Percival’s cousin, the (only) son and heir to a dukedom joined the army to fight Napoleon. Percival’s thoughts of not living up to his cousin are mentioned a few times too many for my taste.
I recommend this for people who like a very predictable romance with a little sex thrown in. I laughed a couple of times, and overall it was entertaining. But the dialogue was not particularly creative or deep. And for a historical novel, it was only slightly informative. There were two steamy scenes that I personally could have lived without. I did like the happy ending.
I really enjoyed the story and the odd turns that it takes.
Read it some time ago, but remember that I enjoyed the read.
Good book on how not to capture a Duke.
Slow start but great twist with a strong female
