I love this book, the mystery, espionage and romance.
The characters are well developed and strong.
A story that will entrainment you until the end.
I recommend this book to all that love regency and mystery!
How the Earl Entices, the fourth in the Capturing the Carlisles, tells the story of Ross Carlisle, Earl of Spalding and Grace Alden. It is a fantastic tale, a fast-paced blend of intrigue, action, and romance. The chemistry between Ross and Grace sizzles. Their interaction provides some humor in a story that is filled with danger and drama (for both of them). Ross and Grace are strong, courageous, and protective of those they care about. They both have secrets they don’t want to share. Ross is a diplomat accused of treason. He needs to avoid capture to bring evidence to prove his innocence and stop the real traitor. Grace has lived a secret identity for ten years to protect her son. They come to an agreement that she will help him get safely to London if he will help her win her son’s rightful inheritance when he accomplishes his mission. What ensues is an edge-of-your-seat adventure with twists and turns and a couple of hold-your-breath moments. I think this is the best yet in the series. Don’t miss it.
I received an ARC of this book. I voluntarily reviewed it.
Loved the book. Unexpected story line but satisfying character development.
This is Grace and Ross’s story and it was one AMAZING page turner from the get go! Ross is in quite the perdicament he’s been captured, beaten and is being interrogated. This was like something out of a James Bond movie – so much action it was a heart-pounding read that just grabbed the reader and kept on delivering until the end!
Plenty of intrigue and mystery, secrets and more secrets are slowly revealed. Grace and Ross have amazing chemistry and witty banter, Grace is shocked to see Ross wounded at washed up the shore near here cottage, seems like the past has come right on her doorstep!
I urge the reader not to start reading if you have distractions, this book will knock your socks off !
I recieved a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.
All I can say is Amazing! It is reading stories like this one that make me realize all over again why I love historical romances!! Anna Harrington has a gift for wonderful prose that always pulls you into the story with her descriptions and amazing characters. Intrigue, secrets, adventure and strong emotions will make you turn the pages to find out what will happen next!
Ross Carlisle, Earl of Spalding and dedicated servant to England is in a bad situation. Captured and beaten so that he will give up secrets,, he is taken on a ship from France to England He gets his chance and jumps over the side. Of all places for him to come ashore, he ends up at Grace’s cottage, where she has been hiding with her nine year old son and she recognizes him from the past. He is desperate to hide and get back to England and clear himself of the charge of treason.
I truly loved Ross and Grace. They both had secrets and each agreed to help each other on their different quests which really brought them together. The attraction between the two came off the page and the humor and witty dialogue was enchanting. But you will need to read to find out if the two make it to England and find happiness with each other. Part of a series, this can be read as a stand alone. But trust me, you will want to read them all!!
Really good story. Fast pace, romance, intrigue, spies … had me hooked from the first sentence.
Once I started this book I was not putting it down a well-written story that had me turning pages. A book I would recommend. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
How the Earl Entices grabs the reader right from the start, and does not let go until the last page is turned. This is the fourth book in Anna Harrington’s Capturing a Carlisle series. Although I really enjoyed and loved the others this one is my favorite so far. It has all those things I love in a good read, intrigue, spies, danger, dastardly villains, and of course romance. Ross Carlisle is the Earl of Spalding but also works for the Court of St James as an agent. However, he gets himself into deep trouble and needs to prove he is not a traitor. He encounters Grace as he tries to take refuge from a storm. Grace has a secret of her own, recognizing Rose from her past. As they team up for both of their sakes, they travel across England experiencing one trial after another. This is a fast paced, wonderful read. I loved the action and the great characters. Whose next to have their stories told?
This is a very entertaining and enjoyable romance. It has an engaging storyline and likable characters that share clever dialog and a slow simmering chemistry. Ross and Grace are a perfect match. They are both strong, smart, determined, loyal and protective of those they love. Both of these characters have secrets and danger stalks each of them for very different reasons. There is quite a bit of action and suspense as Ross, with Grace’s help, works to reveal a murderer and a treasonous plot. I found this read quite fun and I liked it very much.
How the Earl Entices by Anna Harrington is a delightful way to start your day or end your night. Book 4 of “Capturing the Carlisles”, but it can be read as a stand alone. Journey with Ross Carlisle, Earl of Spalding and Grace Alden, both fled England for different reasons. One for his country the other yo save her son. Mow they make work together yo return safety back to England. Can Ross keep Grace’s son safe? Will secrets tear the newly blossoming second chance destroy their love and their lives? Not only their lives in jeopardy but their country Is as well.
Filled with a bit everything, treason, yearning, deception, romance, a bit of mystery, suspense with lots of sparks flying off the pages, spies, a traitor, and intrigue, readers will be transported back to another time and place.
Well written and brilliantly executed. The cast of characters are simply amazing, easy to fall in love with, flawed with an adorable nine year old, Ethan. The storyline flowed seamlessly and effortlessly. I enjoyed the connection between Grace, Ross and Ethan. Ross’s mission to save England, his good name, kept himself from being branded a traitor, and his desire to keep Grace and Ethan protected is legendary and leaves a warm and tingling feeling in readers. A few surprises adds to this mesmerizing tale of love and finding a HEA. Brilliant! An absolute delight to read, and a definite page turner. Well done, Ms. Harrington!!
“I voluntarily received a complimentary copy, however, these are my honest opinions. I was in no way required nor compensated to write a review.”

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
I fell in love with the Carlisle family during book one so I was looking forward to getting my hands on this newest installment and I was not disappointed. This time we follow Ross as he flees France to return to England only to find himself injured in the water. He washes up on shore making his way to a cottage where he runs across Grace who he should know but doesn’t. Both of them have huge secrets so it is an explosive meeting and things do not settle down for awhile as they agree to help one another despite their obvious attraction. This is an amazing historical romance novel that will draw you in from the first page with the incredible world building (accuracy seems on point), characters you can love, and enough drama to really keep the story flowing. The end was a pleasant surprise. If you enjoy historical regency romance then you really have to read this one. I completely loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
Anna Harrington does it again! I loved this story of Ross and Grace. How can you not fall in love with Ross… The love, romance, intrigue had me so into this book I could not put it down. I had another sleepless night staying up to finish this book. It was worth it!!!
I received this book at no charge from the publisher.
How the Earl Entices by Anna Harrington is book Four in Capturing the Carlisles series. This is the story of Grace Alden and Ross Carlisle, Earl of Spalding. I have read the previous books (and Loved them!) but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so….but they were so great you might not want to miss them.
This was such a page turner right from the start along with some funny scene too. Ross has been taken and is being beaten and cut to attempt to get him to talk and give up secret government information but he jumps into the water to escape which leads him to Grace’s door. Grace has her own secrets that she is keeping but has no choice when Ross comes to her home but to take him in. Ross needs to return to England to clear his name and inform his superiors of the information he took. Grace agrees to help him but he in turn must help her with a past issue that is quickly catching up to her and her son Ethan.
Grace was a nice change to some of the heroines I had read before…so she was a joy to read along with Ross.

WOW, this book grabbed me from page one & didn’t let go until the end. Traitors, secret agents, racing against time, stolen inheritance & add to the mix a couple attracted to each other & you’re set for a roller coaster of a read. This is the fourth in the series & yes it can quite easily be read on it’s own but once you’ve read one of the author’s books you’ll be drawn in hook, line & sinker & want to read all of this brilliant series. At times I couldn’t read fast enough & the descriptions were so vivid that I felt I was there with them. Grace is now a strong woman & as the story unfolds & her history is revealed the more admirable she becomes, Ross has spent the last few years first as a soldier then as working for the Crown & he loves his country so to be accused of treason would have been devastating. Together the pair are a force to be reckoned with, they are attracted to each from their first encounter but it is their verbal interchanges which raises this book from the ordinary. I hope the teaser about Kit means his story is to come
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I received How The Earl Entices written by Anna Harrington from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. This is the forth book in her Capturing the Carlisles, but the first time I have ever read any of her books. It will not be the last.
Ross Carlisle is on the run for his life. Condemned for treason, he only hope to prove his innocence, is to steal it. While on the run, he breaks into Grace Alden’s cottage for shelter. Hurt, hungry, and tired, he collapse and Grace bandages him up. Grace, on the run herself, knows who he is- if she doesn’t know what he has been accused of- and needs his help to reclaim her son’s place in the world. Striking a bargain, they head to London together, only to develop feeling for one another along the way. But Ross is captured, and Grace just might loose everything.
This book was wonderful! The banter and wit was spot on. The secondary characters were in the story just enough to wet your appetite for their own story. And, the chemistry was off the charts. I love Grace and her strength. Ross was just the perfect blend of arrogance and understanding. He knew he was strong enough to desire a strong woman without the need to tame her. The slow burn and steam factor worked well. I only had one issue: Grace’s unwillingness to fully disclose everything to Ross. I felt that was dragged out too long and Ross let her off too easily. But a keeper and reread for me. #HowtheEarlEntices #NetGalley
I could hardly read the pages fast enough in this pulse-pounding, heart thrilling, oh so romantic story. It is intelligently written, excellently plotted and the characters are – well – just perfect! I love a strong female lead, but so often, an author tries to make her strong by making her stubborn, overbearing and foolhardy – that is definitely NOT the case here. The heroine in this book is lovely, feminine, intelligent and strong in all the ways she needs to be strong. The banter between the characters was fun to read and kept me chuckling throughout. Even though this book is part of a series, you could read it as a stand-alone – I just can’t imagine why you would want to though. Every book in the series is outstanding.
What an opening scene! Ross Carlisle, the Earl of Spalding, has been captured and is on a small fishing vessel that is traveling from France to England in the middle of a hurricane. Ross has been beaten and is being sliced with a knife because he won’t give up the location of the papers he was carrying to England. Then, he manages to free himself just long enough to step over the edge of the boat and into the raging seas. Nobody could survive that!
Grace Alden is alone at her humble cottage near the sea. The hurricane is raging outside and she’s really glad she has sent her son, Ethan, to town to stay in the stone-built apothecary with her friend. She is awakened in the night by a loud banging against her wall and she groans when she realizes that it is a loose shutter and she’ll have to go out and fix it before it crashes through the window. She dons a slicker and rain boots and heads out. Then, she is confronted by a giant of a man who demands to stay the night in her cottage. She refuses but really doesn’t have a choice because he has a gun. She can see that he’s been badly injured and figures he’s been in a brawl at one of the village taverns. Now, I have to tell you there is a scene in this section that kept me chuckling throughout the rest of the book. I can just picture his mortification and it makes me grin. I won’t tell you what it is, but you’ll surely recognize it when you get there. Who knew nautical knots could be amusing.
There is a huge secret hiding inside Grace and revealing it could cost the life of her son as well as her own. Grace is not who she appears, but she’ll do anything she has to in order to keep her son safe. She’ll also do whatever she has to in order to get back what her son deserves to have – blackmail isn’t beneath her. One of her secrets is that she recognizes Ross . . .
Ross is a very, very patriotic man who will sacrifice anything for his country – including his life. He has uncovered evidence that shows a very powerful and influential man to be a traitor. Ross has to steal the documents, thus making himself a traitor, in order to expose the man. Once the documents are stolen, he must then make it back to England with the documents before he is exposed as a traitor himself. Everything, including his beloved country, is against him, but if he doesn’t succeed many lives will be lost and a traitor will be free to continue betraying his country.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Grace and Ross as they journeyed to London. They were so attracted to each other – and Ross was all for it, but Grace fought it with all her might. I also enjoyed learning how Grace grew from a very frightened eighteen-year old who fled her home in order to protect her unborn child. She grew into an amazing, loving, and self-sufficient woman.
