From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Marie Force comes a sexy new contemporary romance about two people with nothing in common—except all the most important things.
Carmen
Babysitting a handsome, arrogant neurosurgeon isn’t how I imagined my first day at Miami-Dade General Hospital. This is supposed to be the start of my dream career—something I’ve worked hard to achieve after … career—something I’ve worked hard to achieve after the tragic loss of my husband. Dr. Jason Northrup isn’t going to mess up my plans, even if he makes my lady parts stand up and say hello. Especially since the surgeon sends up every kind of red flag. However, my heart—and other parts—seem intent on ignoring those signs…
Jason
I have more important things to do than bail out an attractive new colleague, but I need her. Carmen is my only hope in convincing the Miami-Dade board to overlook my tarnished reputation—and she makes me feel optimistic again. Romantic entanglements are the last thing I can afford, but Carmen isn’t an entanglement. She’s a beautiful breath of fresh South Florida air. My feelings for her are quickly becoming the best kind of scandal.

I got interested in this series when I read a short story in the Merry Ever After collection. I had to read more so I got this book. Now I’m going to read the next! I love the crazy, loving extended family and the leads were so very interesting and magical together.
I highly recommend this fun and sexy book by Marie Force. This emotionally satisfying and lighthearted read gave me all the feels. This book will get your mind off your troubles and open it to a bit of joy and light.
What an amazing book!! I knew that any new series by Marie Force would be great because I love every thing she writes but with this focusing on Miami I had to say I did slightly wonder. I knew the love story would be great but I wondered if she could make me love the sounds of the area and want to visit. I shouldn’t have doubted but she makes me want to do a Miami Marie Force tour. LOL!
I absolutely loved Carmen and Jason! Poor Carmen had been through a lot and so had Jason in the last bit. I was rooting for both of them to find their happily ever after as soon as it started when I heard their backgrounds. I absolutely fell in love with Jason and how sweet and sincere he was not only about Carmen but all of his patients. You could see he loved his job and medicine. I loved the part of him finding the nickname for Carmen. I also loved watching Carmen fall for Jason and realize she had her second chance.
I’m so excited for the next book in this series with Maria that we had a little introduction into with this book. I just can’t wait to see that all play out and hopefully see more of the amazing families, as well as Carmen and Jason.
This book is about life! It’s the choices we make, some good and some bad; some bring joy and some bring sadness; and, some fill our hearts and some have heartache. That’s the story in a sentence. It’s like, if we rob a bank, expect to go to prison, type of choice. It’s get romantically involved with a person that is “out-of-bounds” and pay the price. Carmen suffered the worst devastation when her husband was killed, but she managed to survive with the support of a loving family. Jason lost what was the most important part of his life through wrong choices and now he paid. Two lost souls and this story kept me reading until The End when I could put away the Kleenex. It’s a great story-line of second-chances.
Love all her books!
I love Marie Force’s writing. Her characters pull you in and make you want to be a member of the family. Carmen and Jason’s story was no different. It was sweet and funny and sad and happy. Thanks for another great read.
Can I just say I’d like my own Jason Northrup??? In the first scene when he pulls up in the expensive car with the blonde riding shotgun – I thought – oh great – another jerk that will end up being ok. I was sooo wrong – he was ok (more than ok!!) right from the beginning. I enjoyed the story, enjoyed the characters and look forward to the rest of the series.
This is Book 1 in the Miami Nights Series
This is the story of Jason & Carmen. It’s Jason’s first day at Miami-Dade General Hospital. He is a pediatric neurosurgeon. It’s also Carmen’s first day at Miami-Dade General Hospital as the assistant director of public relations. The President of Miami-Dade Hospital tells her to take care of Jason and don’t come anywhere near the board room. From that moment on the day goes from bad to worse in the eyes of Carmen. This is such a fun story, a laughing out loud story with a lot of attraction and love and misfortunes. There’s a lot of sadness on Carmen’s part, and a lot of frustration and anger on Jason’s part. I cannot say enough about how well written this book is. I love Marie Force’s writing, almost to a fault. This is the first book I’ve read of hers, and I have to say that I will reading a lot more of her books. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
Enjoyed this start to a new series!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s sensitive and engaging. Shows how grit and perseverance can pay off.
Oh Carmen and Jason are such an amazing couple that I just adore their love story!!! Man I want more of their passion.

Not even a tiny bit realistic and it took me a bit to get beyond the first two chapters, but after that it was silly, light and fun.
I started out listening to this book. The narration was not bad, it just seemed sooo slow. I switched back to reading it.
I didn’t expect the story I got with this book. Based on the way Jason and Carmen met, I really expected a lot more angst, more irritation, more sarcasm, or tension. By the time Jason showed up to “rescue” Carmen, all those thoughts went out the window.
I liked the description of the locale, and all of the things associated with Carmen’s heritage and family. I liked Jason and Carmen together. I appreciated that Carmen had reservations about how fast their relationship jumped off, even though she also felt the connection.
This book turned out to be a sweet, witty, romance that lead to Jason and Carmen sharing their HEA with the people that care most about them.
I do have to say that if I didn’t know Marie Force had written this book, I would have been surprised if someone had told me. This book did not seem like a Marie Force read to me at all. As I was reading it, I keep wondering what was missing. Don’t get me wrong, it is not a bad book, it is just a simple love story. I feel like I usually get much more from a book written by this author.
What a truly sweet story and the main characters were just wonderful!
I love all of Marie Force’s books. I have been reading her Gansett Island series and she continues with characters in all of her books. I have read about 12 of her books.
How Much I Feel is the first book in the new Miami Nights series by Marie Force. Ms. Force writes the Fatal series starring Det. Sam Holland and Sen. Nick Cappuano, which is one of my favorite series of all times. If you love good romantic/mystery/suspense type books, then you will love these. As such, I was excited to start her new series set in Miami, which happens to be close to my location in South Florida.
The story revolves around a young widow, Carmen Giordino, who, on her first day of work in public relations at Miami-Dade General Hospital, is ordered to “babysit” Dr. Jason Northrup, the new pediatric neurosurgeon. Their first meeting doesn’t go so well when he pulls up in a convertible Porsche with a blonde in a tight red dress in the passenger seat. He throws Carmen the keys and tells her to take care of his car and Betty.
Even with the rough start, the friendship ratchets up, and the author gives us great insights into all the things that make Miami great, including Little Havana and all the different cultures. Of course, the romance starts to bloom, but as in any good romance, there are difficulties to overcome as well. I did feel the romance was a little rushed, but it is only one book, so there is only so much time to make it happen.
This book was very family-centric, which was enjoyable to experience, and I know we will see much more of this in future installments. I listened to this on audiobook via Audible, and the double narrators were perfect as Jason and Carmen. Teddy Hamilton and Lola James did a fantastic job, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them in the next book. I gave this book 3 ½ stars rounded up to 4.
One of the best book I read this year….
Not her best but a solid start establishing a new community.
How Much I Feel is the first book in Marie Force’s new series, Miami Nights. What a spectacular start! I loved the whole Miami/Little Havana vibe, the raucous family dynamic and sensitivity of two genuinely likeable characters.
Jason Northrup and Carmen Giordino completely captivated me. What a dynamic couple. Two people who have known devastation in their lives. They say timing is everything so the fact that Carmen met Jason on the very first day day of her new job can only mean fate, serendipity or Karma wat at work. Falling in love in just a few day is crazy, right? Or was it in a few minutes or maybe even a few moments?
Warm, witty and just delightful.
Second chance romance filled with all the joy of Miami and Calle Ocho.
Carmen gets her dream job after finishing school and her first assignment is an absolute disaster in the most charming of ways. Great dialogue, wonderful characters and a sweet happy ever after.
