Wade had everything he could ever want in life…then he lost it.Now, his life—his forever girl—is living in a house he built for her while he’s struggling to move on and find meaning where there isn’t any to be found.Landry Hill was his girl. His everything. His first kiss. His first and only love. His old lady and wife. Then one day he does something monumentally stupid, and she walks away knowing … and she walks away knowing she’ll never come back.
Fast forward two years, and he’s still just as in love with her now as he was when she left. The only problem is that she’s moved on with her life, found a new man, and has seemingly forgotten him. Then there’s Wade—stuck in the same awful place where she abandoned him. The only thing he has left is his job as a police officer and the Bear Bottom MC.
Just when they both think things can’t get any worse, life kicks them both in the teeth, and Landry finds out really quick that the only person she can depend on is the one that let her walk away.
With that understanding comes a deal. One that Landry has no hope of ever breaking free from, and one Wade will do everything in his power to make a reality.
But one thing is still certain. The force that split them apart is still out there, and there’s no hope of escaping fate.

When you first meet Wade you just knew that he was someone that was just there and not really living. And the reason for that was for the other piece of his heart, Landry. Landry’s story alone will gut you. Yet there is this strength that she has inside of her that makes you just want things to work out for her. The chemistry between these two is so strong that you just want them to find their way back together again.
Can Lani Lynn Vale write a book that I don’t absolutely love, how about no! Wade and Landry’s story is emotional, action packed and one that will have you bonding completely with these two. Two soulmates that have lost their way due to bad decisions, secrets and being scared. How About No, is full of witty remarks, confrontations and some extremely passionate and heartfelt moments that will make you smile, laugh and at times bring tears to your eyes. This couple will heat up a room in minutes, will have your heart racing and will leave you craving the chemistry and connection that they possess. This book was about finding your way home and never losing sight of who and what is important.
How About No is the third book in the Bear Bottom Guardians MC series by Lani Lynn Vale. I love sitting down with Vale’s next book each month. She’s created this incredible fictional world, with interconnected stories and series and characters, and with each new book she releases, she builds upon those worlds. The result is a very unique reading experience, one that is distinctly Lani Lynn Vale. What makes this even more special, though, is the fact that she’s crafted these stories in such a way that new readers can ease in at any point and go forward—although, once they get started, they’ll be hooked and want to go back to see how it all began.
Another hallmark of Vale’s storytelling is that she writes about everyday heroes. Police officers, firemen, paramedics – Lani writes them in such a natural and realistic way that her readers can’t help but fall for these good men. How About No is a second-chance romance and features police officer, Wade Johnson. He’s a good guy, a biker, and he is still deeply in love with his ex-wife. Landry Hill is a good woman with a heart of gold, but she’s got serious demons from the horrific childhood she endured. When she met Wade, she thought she’d finally found someone who would always choose her first, so when the opportunity came for him to do just that and he didn’t, it shattered what was left of her heart. The problem is that while they might be divorced, they still love each other, and that chemistry sizzles between them whenever they’re near each other.
Vale crafted a story with so many twists and turns in How About No. I was literally on the edge of my seat for most of it, sometimes audibly gasping in surprise. Full of Vale’s fantastic sense of humor, a host of side characters whose stories I can’t wait to read, and a couple whose reconnection I was fully invested in from the first page, How About No is another winner in a series full of them. Five smooches from me!

“There was no moving on from Wade Beauregard Johnson. There was only existing until you died.”
That synopsis. WTF? Right? Too intriguing to resist and I’ve been dying to find out what caused Wade to lose the woman he still loved. He’s a #HotCop and a #BadassBiker all rolled into one. What the hell would make her walk away from all that?
You didn’t really expect me to answer that question, did you? Nope, you need to dig into this very original and heartbreaking story to get the deets. It will blow your mind. I learned things I didn’t know before, some painful facts that won’t be leaving my mind anytime soon. However, the author’s choice to write about true heroes and shine a light on real-life issues is one of the things I love most about her books. She doesn’t shy away from broken characters and those are my weakness. Seeing them overcome painful pasts and find happiness is very heartwarming.
The further I get into this series and the more I get to know the support characters the more I anticipate the next book. There are so many possibilities and it’s so fun when they all get together. The hilarious chapter headings and the witty banter never fails to keep me entertained. The line forms here…
Once again, LLV has put out a story that brings out all kinds of emotions. I was all over the place. One minute, I was sad, the next I was unbelievably angry, and then I had the warm fuzzies! It was fabulous! (I love a story that really gets my emotions going. So far, the Bear Bottom Guardians MC has really gone above and beyond, in that aspect!)
Wade is a police officer in Bear Bottom, a member of the BBGMC, and is still in love with his ex-wife. He isn’t really sure why she’s his ex, but knows that he screwed up, big time! So, he bides his time, waiting for his chance.
Landry is a woman who had a childhood that was beyond horrible. After escaping from a family who only viewed her as a means to an end, she thought she had finally found her HEA. Until her HEA wasn’t so happy. Tired of never being put first, she takes things in her own hands and moves on with her life. And then things change again!
I love a good second chance at happiness, and this one was among the most interesting that I’ve read. I never in a million years could have seen this coming! Totally shocked to my core! There were so many twists and turns, surprises that came completely out of the blue. I loved Landry and Wade, and their story is one that I won’t soon forget! (And I totally LOL’d when I realized who Wade is, but that is a surprise that I’m not giving away!)
A heartfelt addition to the Bear Bottom Guardians MC series.
It was jam-packed with a variety of things, including; scandalous family affairs, life-altering decisions, infertility, second chances, chest hair, a heroine whose childhood pulled at your heartstrings & a Hero who worshipped his woman.
Landry & Wade were great together. The struggles they went through pained me but watching them reunite & build their relationship even stronger than it was before felt oh-so satisfying.
Landry… Gods, talk about a sucky childhood that bled into adulthood. Her parents were utter sh*theads for what they did to her. She couldn’t get away from them fast enough. The treatment from the other Bear Bottom Guardians after she left Wade, the fires, the dog rescue harassment, the mall parking lot shooting… So proud of her for staying strong & for letting Wade back into her life. Her ‘gift’ to Wade at the end gave me all the warm fuzzies a girl could want.
Wade… I was irked with him for pressing the ‘save Lina’ issue earlier on but I recognized the fact that his need to protect people was a strong one. It’s definitely one of those situations that I would NEVER want to encounter in my life. He made up for it tenfold with how much he loved Landry. Staying celibate while separated, the beards burns he was determined to give her, his excitement at what really happened with the divorce decree, not harping on Landry about kids… He truly was a good guy.
Excited to read the next book in the series, My Bad, featuring Hoax & Pru. Bring on those OG LLV characters, baby!
Side Note: Chapter 9’s text from Wade to Landry… So very true. #DontJudge
I just absolutely loved this story of Wade and Landry. I loved how they were married in the past and find their way back to one another. Even though that road back to one another is filled with some bumps but these two definitely over come each hurdle thrown their way. I laughed a lot in this story with these two banter. Go read the story to find out all the details because there won’t be any here in case anything gets spoiled. Don’t worry you won’t be disappointed it really is amazingly good.
Author Lani Lynn Vale did it again, Love this couple, granted they let their feelings and outside forces get between them but in the end they couldn’t denied they belong together, amazingly done
Very good series all of her books are
I have loved and adored all of Lani Lynn Vale books, this one is no exception. Wade is attentive, caring, passionate and willing to do anything for his “ex-wife”, Landry. I have to be honest and say that this is the first time that I have not cared for the female counterpart. Landry kind of bothered me. I get she had a horrible upbringing but she took it out on poor innocent Wade, and again he would do what ever she wanted him to do just to make her happy. They both make mistakes and learn from them. That being said, things did turn around and I felt better about Landry, I did enjoy their chemistry, the connection between them was beautiful. As always this story was funny, heartwarming, romantic, with a little bit of twist mixed in to keep you on your toes.
This is another hit from Lani Lynn Vale and her Bear Bottom Guardians series! If you have been following this series, you have met Wade before and this is his story!!
Wade and Landry fell hard for each other and then the life they thought they had fell apart. Neither have moved on from the horrible situation and now that they are forced back together, they both want to make it work, but can they when danger surrounds them??
I really loved this story, it was very unique and had great development. The storyline moved along nicely so I was able to get sucked right in and stayed invested. This book can be read as a standalone so it is the perfect place to jump in.
Landry Hill had a life where she was born and raised to be a convenience for her parents when they need her otherwise she was second best. The moment she got a chance she got away and went off to college where she met and fell in love with Wade Johnson. They married and should be having their happily ever after, however Wade takes a stance on something he knows nothing about and Landry serves him with divorce papers.
Two years later Wade doesn’t understand what the hell went wrong but he knows he wants his wife back. Things that he thought he knew turn out to be quite the opposite and Wade grabs at his second chance with Landry even if Landry is not to sure where it will lead.
I had always put this one off because was not sure what the reason behind Wade and Landry splitting up was but boy I was not expecting what it turned out to be. You never doubt for a moment Wade and Landry’s love for one another. Landry is a strong woman even when she doubts herself, she was a great heroine and I liked that this couple had real problems they worked through. Excellent, should have read sooner.
Wade and Landry’s story is one I didn’t expect, but loved so much! We got a glimpse of their relationship in the previous book, but we were given the impression that Landry was not the best person. But Wade loved her so much and they are able to come to terms with what tore them apart the last time. You will not regret their steamy story!
Wade and Landry had it all until a mistake costs them their marriage. The feelings don’t just go away, after a shooting Landry comes to realize the past shouldn’t keep you down. Wade is determined to get his ex wife back. Will the couple be able to get past their differences? This is a wonderful second chance read and series.
The men and women of the Bear Bottom Guardians MC are back and ready to protect the only woman to hold the heart of one of their own in this sexy and suspenseful tale of second chances. From the first page to the last readers will find themselves quickly consumed by this thrill ride and rooting for this reunited couple being weighed down by the heroine’s past as they fight for their HEA. By the turn of the final page readers will be left breathless and satisfied, yet ready for more.
Landry Hill’s childhood was one of pain and loneliness as her body was used to keep her sister alive as her parents clearly chose Lina over her in every instance. She was kept in a protective box until she was needed, kept from living her own life so that her sister could live her own. It was a childhood of feeling betrayed, feeling lost, and she longed to be put first for just once. Coming of age saw her leaving that life behind and finding the one man she thought would never let her down…until his kind heart left her feeling betrayed again. Walking away from him was the hardest decision she ever made, but at the time she was hurt and didn’t want a repeat of her childhood. Time hasn’t healed her heart though but there’s still a definite attraction between the two and it’s why she runs to his side the moment he’s injured in the line of duty. Reuniting with her ex was a seamless transition, it was as if their two years apart never happened, as there was still a crackling connection between them. It was clear she still loved him, had never fully moved on from him, and I enjoyed seeing their solid support of each other as they were both extremely protective of one another. As the story progressed Landry’s painful past became clearer and I could easily understand why she feels as she does and why she felt so betrayed by Wade. Landry’s a strong-willed heroine who survived a truly hurtful childhood and still had a kind heart when it came to dogs and children. She might not have had a large and loving family of her own, but the MC rose to the occasion to become a family of their own making and counted her as one of their own when she needed their help most.
Wade Johnson’s a sexy beast with a big heart and coming from a family of love has Wade willing to always help those in need. The moment he saw Landry he knew she was the one for him and for two years they had a beautiful marriage. During that time Landry gave some insight into her childhood, but didn’t give him the full picture which is why he pushed her to help when her parents came calling again. His decision was made without all the facts and I certainly don’t judge him poorly for going with his heart at the time. During their time apart he was hurt and angry but kept watch over her, kept her in his heart and mind, and their reunion was sweet and sexy. When danger came ever closer to her Wade didn’t hesitate to stand beside her, he and his brothers immediately went into a protective mode that endeared all of them to me. Their reunion had Wade learning the truth about Landry’s past, had him feeling guilty over his actions, but wholeheartedly proving himself to her with his bold words and deeds. Though he wants a family he understands her fears and never pushes her for more, he let her set the pace, and it all made for a richly rewarding ending.
On a whole this was an exhilarating romance of second chances, a romance full of heart and soul, that kept me glued to the pages. The connection between Landry and Wade was a crackling one that had a speed-bump of frustration but was ultimately one of solid support and scorching encounters. They were protective of each other, willing to sacrifice all for the other, and their interactions had me smiling. The danger being leveled at Landry seemed to come out of nowhere, it seemed a bit over-the-top at times, and it easily could’ve been omitted with the story still being satisfying. Along with this delightful main couple came an equally engaging cast of secondary characters. Some we’ve seen in previous installments in this series, like Rome and Bayou, but some are new and they left an indelible mark on me. MC members Hoax and Castiel are the strong and silent types, quick to protect their brother and his woman, and I look forward to the kind of woman to wrangle them. Landry’s sister Lina, and her friend Kourt, gave intriguing insight into her past and the subtle attraction between the two should be interesting for readers to watch evolve. With this latest installment in the Bear Bottom Guardians MC series, Ms. Vale has once again crafted an unforgettable romance and presented readers with an unconventional family of the MC brothers. With its heartwarming romance and eclectic cast of characters I continue to look forward to what’s coming next and recommend this series to all lovers of true romance.
How About No is book 3 in the Bear Bottom Guardians MC series written by the talented author Lani Lynn Vale. This is Wade Johnson and Landry Hill love story and I really enjoyed it. This is a charming and heartwarming second chance romance. The plot is full of drama, action, lots of twists and turns, family and friendship banter, hope, love and as with any book from this author there always are amazing supporting secondary characters. A must read!!! Great work Lani Lynn!!!!
Landry was the child no one wanted, except for what she could do for her sister. She grew up isolated and alone and facing multiple painful procedures just so her sister could survive and thrive while she was overlooked by her parents.
When she was 18, she left and didn’t look back. She fell in love with who she thought was the perfect man. But, when he sister and parents come pleading once more, Wade doesn’t even listen to why Landry doesn’t want to help. He simply expects her to. Once again, she’s left feeling inconsequential, and never put first. This time when she leaves, she leaves Wade behind too.
Wade had it all, including a job he loved, friends and the perfect woman. She was his everything. But, one action strips it all away from him and he’s left with nothing but regret and emptiness. Two years later, Landry appears to have moved on, but Wade isn’t able too.
When fate kicks both Wade and Landry, trying to knock them down, they have no one to lean on but each other to get them through it. Can Wade convince Landry to give her another chance as they battle everything being thrown their way that seems determined to keep them apart?
How About No was a fabulous second chance romance! Landry is so incredibly strong in how she persevered with everything her family threw at her. She deserves a HEA so bad,and it felt she had it until Wade turned stupid.
Wade really is a good guy. He thought he was doing the right thing, but was blinded by Landry’s family and what he thought was right and couldn’t understand Landry not wanting to help. He knew right away just how wrong it was but was left alone and full of regret that he didn’t put Landry first.
Fate giving them a second chance was both gorgeous and emotional. Both Wade and Landry are battling major demons as well as physical forces trying to knock them down and tear them apart. Watching them rekindle what they had in the past brought on all the arm and fuzzy feelings while reading!
How About No has been one of my favorite Lani Lynn Vale books so far, as I loved just how unique it was. 5 stars!
Wade Johnson once had it all but a mistake cost him the woman he loves. Now she has moved onto someone else and he must deal with the consequences.
Landry Hill was born as she was needed to help her sister Lina survive. She has been poked and had to do many surgeries and all she wanted to do was live her own life for herself. When Wade makes a choice for her she knows she must end her marriage.
But when Wade is injured at work Landry is there for him and soon he discovers about her past. When Landry’s life seems to be at risk can Wade keep her safe and prove to her that he has changed?
This was a great book and I really enjoyed a few of the controversial notions the author was getting at.
I thought Wade was a good guy but he made a huge mistake but I found it really interesting that he didn’t know much about Landry’s past which was why he made the mistake that he did. He thought he was doing the right thing and couldn’t understand why Landry was so opposed to it. That being said he should have supported his wife with her decision.
Landry was an awesome character and had been through so much growing up and it broke my heart what she was subjected to. She still cared so much about Wade which was why she was with him when he was in the hospital and then afterwards. I loved what Landry was doing with the dogs and she was really a caring person even after everything she had gone through.
I loved the twist with what was revealed to Landry and Wade from Uncle Jimmy!
It was super interesting with what was happening with the rescue dog Capo and where everything went with it!! Crazy people!!!
I liked how Wade was able to get to the bottom of all the family stuff at the end and I was shocked at everything that came out of it!
The end was awesome and I look forward to more in this series!
Yet another LLV book I love… A real page turner and an emotional read.
Oh how I love Lani Lynn Vale’s books. They capture you from the very first paragraph. The Bear Bottom Guardians MC series is absolutely wonderful. This is book 3, but you really do not have to read 1 and 2 to catch up. Really, why would you not though.
The characters in this book are so in tune with each other, they are love at first sight, huge mistake, and finding that love again, kind of people. And we all just love that! The twists and turns are gripping, making me not put it down until I was finished and begin for more. That is just how every LLV book is, so I should get used to it!
