Trudy Justice was good at her job, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t vulnerable. Caught unaware by a fellow FBI agent, the gunshot wound to Tru’s gut nearly did her in. To the world, Tru was dead. Rogan was hiding her out until they could figure out who had marked her to be a target.
Houston Robinson, a tiger shifter, was … marked her to be a target.
Houston Robinson, a tiger shifter, was preparing to shift and take a much-needed run when a strange woman’s voice interrupted him before he could remove his pants to shift. At first, he was irritated, but when he saw the blood, he wanted to help.
Hurting bad and suspicious of everyone, Tru was in no mood to listen to anyone, especially a shapeshifter claiming to be her mate. She didn’t care how nice he pretended to be….

I’m sad to say there was quite a bit that I found wrong with this book.
First off. I don’t care how far you want me to suspend reality. There is just no way, no how, absolutely no way that Tru’s sister Shasta was an agent and was able to keep it under wraps for as long as she did. The woman was so dumb and was caught being recorded on the phone, even after hearing it at the beginning of the phone call, and she still told her father she was going to sell off her kids or commit treason and sell out her own sister.
Tru was just a nasty woman. I’ve read so many of Kathi’s books before, but I just can’t get over how rude and angry of a woman Tru was for no reason.
Last, there was absolutely no shifting in this book. Like seriously, I at least expected Houston to shift once so Tru would be able to meet his cat, but he never did.
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book**
Trudy Justice, aka Tru, was an undercover cleanup agent for the FBI. Carrying out an assignment that Thatcher had just finished operating on Tru finds herself shot in the stomach by someone she recognizes. She wakes up to find out her death certificate had been signed and she’ll be working and living with Rogan and her family until the originator of the plot is identified. According to his mother, Houston was the sloppiest of all her sons, not even counting the mess of mud he played in, but he was also by far the most romantic. In her defense, she just wants things perfect so when Houston finds his mate everything is ready. Each mate that comes into the Robinson Destruction is more bada$$ than the last one and Tru holds that title now. The storyline is fast-paced, the scenarios are wicked, and the humor is delightful. I can’t wait for Beckett’s story next.
. . . One of my favorite authors.
Loved Houston and Tru
Houston Robinson is an accomplished artist. His pieces in demand. He has been able to make a comfortable living doing what he loves. He just found his mate in a surly government assassin recuperating at his brother Thatcher home.
Truly “Tru” Justice has an eidatic memory. A government assassin. She was targeted by a fellow agent. Recovering from her injuries at Agent Rogan Robinson ‘s safe house. She just found she is mate to Rogan’s husbands brother. She did not take to well. She managed to hurt her mate emotionally, and tick off his family.
Tru makes things right, once things sunk in. She is proud of Houston’s accomplishments. Loved his art. They take their time getting to know each other.
Tru is still in danger. Her own family is involved.
Loved Houston and Tru’s story. No hint to who Beckett’s mate will be. Looking forward to his story.
The story was really hard to follow because it takes a while to separate the conversations between the characters. The story had so much potential and could have been great. I curse more than the average person but using it so much in a book looks like you are running out of vocabulary. I would have liked to see more paranormal in the book not just talk about it.

The author has, again, pulled you into the lives of the characters and never lets go. The story has love, suspense and action that keeps you turning the page to the very end.
