Maya has never had much to complain about. Sure, her parents are absent a lot, having important jobs in the government, but at the end of the day she has all the material possessions a girl could want. Not to mention a great best friend, and secure spot in the popular group at her school. Yet she can never shake the feeling of displacement. Constantly searching for something that’s missing from … missing from her life.
Turns out Maya is part of something much bigger than her human existence, and after a mysterious stranger saves her from an ambush at a party, he brings her into his world.
And turns her world completely upside down.

I really enjoyed this book. I really liked the connection between Chase and Maya and thought that the Galinta chose well when they bonded them together. I found it funny how Maya got sweary when she was angry and It was also cool to see her friendship/bond with Ben, total friendship goals. I loved seeing the bonds between the secret keepers and all the overlords grow and can’t wait until they find the last secret keeper as their bond will be epic. I’m glad that Star and Ben are getting closer as after losing Marsil it may help her heal. I can’t wait to see Laous finally get what’s coming to him, even if what he’d told Maya was true it still doesn’t give you the right to be a complete and utter crazy d*ckhead. He’s planning to destroyed both worlds just in the name of power. Also I’m hoping that Rao gets away from Laous as Laous has been lying to him forever and using him for his powers of premonition. I’m looking forward to reading the final book as I really want to see if there’s any reason for Xander being a bit of an a*sehole. about the bonds between the other secret keepers and their secret keeper mates, Royale don’t usually bond for life so maybe that has something to do with it, plus Royales’ seem kind of cold after hearing Chase’s explanation to Maya about how most the time they don’t even know who fathered their kids so the kids move to another pod to stop any relationships between family. Xander really has no chance in hell staying away from the fourth secret keeper like he’s adamant to do, as she seems like she’d be right up Xander’s alley but only time will tell. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
This is an ever evolving series, seriously. House of Darken seems like such a long time ago and such a different feeling to it. The series has just sprouted so many roots but simultaneously remains the same. Sounds weird but it’s true!
Maya has had the eastiest life out of the three so far. She may not have had her parents with her all the time but she never wanted for anything or was tossed around. She was simply comfortable but always searching for more. That “more” comes in the form of Chase.
He seemed to welcome the thought of a mate the most. It didn’t seem to bother him at all actually. I think that’s what made me like this book. There wasn’t internal conflict (not like someone else who’s butt will be handed to them!). Their chemistry flowed from first “sight” and just blossomed from there. He had that Alpha male feel to him and I dig it. He didn’t play games when it came to Maya.
While their connection seemed instantaneous, the drama keeps unfolding slowly. Laous is still out there causing misery and he isn’t stopping. Using the secret keepers is still his main goal and he needs Maya just like he needed the others. Now the countdown begins on who gets the fourth keeper first and what happens if they fail.
I can’t decide which book is my favorite (have a feeling it’ll be book 4) but I do know that this series is awesome!

This review contains SPOILERS!
The third book in this series was probably my least favorite so far. I couldn’t connect with the main character about much of anything. She didn’t have as much character (if that makes any sense) as the other girls have so far. And she seemed to be the most unlikely to pair with Chase of House Leights (the tree and nature loving folk). Yet once she sees Chase and he shows her the beauty of nature, she does a 180 and sees it all around her. I liked how she had a best human friend and refuses to give him up through it all, even though it made it a little more unbelievable. I was highly disappointed in the scene where Maya is nervous about traveling through the Teraporter and asks what will happen if anything goes wrong. She’s told she could be lost forever, and immediately gets lost. It was just poor planning on plot points. It could have easily been suggested in a previous book; let alone right before the scene where it’s going to happen. It isn’t even like it could be called foreshadowing since it’s mentioned immediately before it happens.
At least you get to see more of the other Secret Keepers and their mates, and the plot thickens as you continue to read through the series. The ending was dramatic and does perfectly lead up to the fourth and final book in the series. I really want to see how this final showdown will play out.
The Details:
– YA
– 3rd in a series (not standalone)
– UF/Fantasy
– Utterly Addictive Reading
– Ugly Cry Warning/Bring Tissues!
The third book in the series has the Secret Keepers racing to locate the last Secret Keeper before their enemy can get to her. Will they be able to save the fourth Secret Keeper? You’ll have to read to find out.
This book is full of heart as well as unexpected highs and lows.
I promise you’ll laugh a time or two and more than likely ugly cry more than once. With that said, as with every book in this series, I completely loved it.
The story, world and characters are so immensely captivating. Once you enter this world, I highly doubt you’ll want to leave it.
Highly Recommended
Another fast paced book in this series. Maya is very different to the previous protagonists. She’s not broken or as feisty all the time, but she definitely has a quieter strength about her. I also felt like we got to see much more about Chase, but also Xander in this book (even though Xander isn’t the love interest). Perhaps it’s because this book really gets going with the storyline. I feel like we didn’t really get to see a lot of the Leights part of Overworld in this book (or the last one). I think that might be my only criticism about this book, and, to be honest, it’s a pretty weak on, as there’s a LOT that goes on in this book.
Love this entire series! A must read!
Another Enjoyable Installment!!
We meet the 3rd Secret Keeper, Maya, this time. She’s best friends with Brad. They both have parents that work all the time in Government jobs so they spend most of their time together!!
Chase of the House of Leights sets out to find & protect Maya. Things don’t go as smoothly as he’d hoped. Laous & his men are already after her so the race is on to protect her, her friend & her parents whilst keeping her blood & the other Secret Keepers away from Laous!!
I enjoyed all of the couples working together & seeing the power the girls could produce through their bond as Secret Keepers was fun too Looking forward to book 4!!

House of Leights by Jaymin Eve a five-star read that will light up your life. This is the third book in the Secret Keepers series and each book is better than the last, the secret keepers are all ladies who you will adore, I am so excited to meet number four. Maya was a great character, she had her place in life and unlike the other two previous keepers she had a home and friends she didn’t want to leave behind. That being said she did always feel like something was missing, and what was missing was nature and the man who speaks to it. This was a great story, Jaymin Eve has great world building abilities she makes you believe that you are there with them, you are walking in the trees and running through Washington. The only problem I have with this book is the wait for the next instalment!!
