I was so excited when I heard K.A. Linde was writing House of Dragons! I absolutely loved The Affilliate series. This book will pull you in from the first page and have you wanting more. Kerrigan is such a great heroine. You will pulled into a world of magic and mystery. I couldn’t put House of Dragons down once I started. Must Read!
Filled with mystery magic and imagination, House of Dragons was fantasy at its best and had me hooked from start to finish. This story had politics, intrigue, betrayals, loyalty, love, loss, friendship, and honor and so much more and takes us on an epic adventure. Its fast paced and action packed and you will love the heroine Kerrigan an independent, strong and intelligent half human half fae. You will also love the broody Dark Fae Prince. This story was well written and layered and the author did an excellent job detailing this magical world and introducing us to this new series. This was a slow burn romance with fascinating characters and an intriguing plot. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to all fantasy lovers.
*FIVE STARS*
Wow. Wow. Wow. Love fantasy? Love dragons? Love a strong heroine? Then House of Dragons is for YOU! I know everyone loves Linde’s contemporary romance, but her fantasy is absolutely fantastic!!
This was such a great, refreshing read for me. Linde is great at world building and creating depth in the characters and it really showed in House of Dragons. I loved this world. I loved the dragons. I loved Kerrigan.
If you loved Linde’s Ascension series, you will love this one. This was one of my top reads for 2020 and can’t recommend this enough!
*ARC was received in exchange for an honest review*
I have to start off by saying, I have never been a fan of fantasy books. I love the movies, but the fantasy books I just haven’t ever gotten into. That is, until K.A. Linde launched The Ascension Series. I was HOOKED! Obsessed. Desperate for more! When she announced she was launching another series, Royal Houses, I was excited to go back to a world of dragons and mystical beings and everything I found in The Ascension series. Let me just say, Kyla BROUGHT IT! This book is action packed with so many extra elements sprinkled in throughout that it is the perfect beginning to this new fantasy series. I always hear other reviewers comparing this to Sarah J. Maas. While I cannot compare this series to SJM’s, as I have yet to read her (I know, I know, I’ll get on that next), this series so far should be compared to the best of the best, and that is SJM in the fantasy world!
4.5 stars!!
House of Dragons is set in a world where full-blooded Faes are at the top. Humans and half-Faes are on the bottom, and they are the ones who must fight for their place in the world and Kerrigan is among them. She is half-Fae who doesn’t really belong anywhere. She was left at Draco Mountain when she was a child to be a Dragon Blessed and at the age of sixteen she can be chosen by a tribe to join their clan. However, things don’t go as planned when it’s her turn at the ceremony and she isn’t chosen. Now she must figure out how to convince a tribe to take her or she will be bound to the Dragon Society forever.
It’s been ages since I have read fantasy and I am so glad that this is the one that brought me back into a mystical world full of magic, mystery, murder and mayhem. The vivid imagery transported me to Alandria and gave me a whole new world to captivate me along with wonderful characters who drew me in.
Kerrigan is a fantastic character. I love that she takes things into her own hands and doesn’t let fear stop her. She does what she needs to do stay alive and make a place for her in this world. Her fight is constant but she never backs down. I love her perseverance. With obstacle she encounters, her determination to overcome it gets stronger. She’s not perfect though and gets help along the way form the most unlikely of characters.
Fordham is of the House of Shadows, the group of Dark Fae who were cast out of the land. They are known for their brutality to all who are not full-blooded Fae. He comes to Alandria for personal reasons, set on keeping to himself, and ends up spending way more time with Kerrigan than he imagined.
Kerrigan and Fordham are awesome together. They begin as enemies but slowly form an alliance. They are both hiding secrets and have their own vulnerabilities and insecurities. I liked seeing the trust build between them and the start of a what could be a wonderful romance. However, there are complications that won’t allow them to pursue the feelings that are growing and I was curious if they could ever make it work.
The mystery is well written and keeps you guessing as the story unfolds. There are heroes and villains, friends and foes. Characters who want to lift Kerrigan up and those who want to tear her down. And we can’t forget about the crime lord, Dozan, who wants to own her.
I loved the way the characters are weaved together and all the magic surrounding them. I loved the dragons and connection they have to the characters. I loved the competition, the challenges and the action packed fighting. I wanted to know all of the secrets and enjoyed all of the twists and turns the story took. It’s an exciting new series to get obsessed with, and I couldn’t put it down.
I love that we are not left with a gut wrenching cliffhanger. We still have questions and the ending promises more of this world Linde has created. More Kerrigan and Ford. More magic and dragons. And more of everything I love in this book! I can’t wait, House of Shadows is coming next year!
Literally KA can write anything and I’ll be guaranteed to love it!
If you’re looking for a magical, fantasy read, extremely well written, with an awesome plot? This is the book for you!
While the Fae isn’t my normal go to, I sincerely enjoyed this.
Magic!
Mayhem!
Secrets!
A new world!
I highly recommend going in blind… you will love it!
K.A. Linde
Ms. Linde can write one heck of a fantasy world! I did not want to put this down. Even if you think fantasy and dragons aren’t for you….please pick this up. You won’t be disappointed.
House of Dragons blew me away! I will be completely honest and tell you all that I have never been interested in this type of magical, fantasy dragon-esque type of story line. However, K.A. Linde has a way of writing that has now changed my mind forever.
The story takes me by surprise in the beginning when I am immediately intrigued with who Kerrigan is. That had me hooked to find out more about her and what journey she would take me on. The journey I have now gone on was filled with magical mayhem, dragon games, friendships, love, sexual tension and a political/social freedom vibe. You are at one point cheering for Kerrigan and then another where you are scared for her. I was always waiting for what was next. Then as always I would be surprised for the turn of events.
If you are apprehensive like me with the genre of House of Dragons. I beg of you to give it a chance. You will be forever changed and eager for more just like me.
I loved this book!!!! Miss linde did it again, I’m not usually into fantasy or paranormal, but this book was everything!
I was so excited to learn of this series from K.A. Linde after The Affiliate series completed. And she did not disappoint. Linde gives us something so magical and unique that you get lost into the world she has created. House of Dragons is such a stunning story that will engulf you and have you begging for more. Kerrigan is such a unique character that you want to know more about her. You devour each word, you get lost in the world that has been created and you are blown away by it. What I adore about this book and Linde with her fantasy books, is her unique details and concepts that have been created. They are one of a kind that will blow your mind and have you begging for more. Honestly, there is so much you can say about this book, but spoilers!!! If you adored Linde’s Affiliate series, you are going to LIVE for House of Dragons. Pick it up if you need something so beautiful and unique!
An exciting first book. I immersed myself in this fantasy universe with delight. Kerrigan is a heroine as we like them: strong, independent and different, she has an extraordinary loyalty and sense of friendship. Intrepid, she takes us on a colorful adventure where dragons, magic and conspiracies are everywhere …
Oh how I missed Linde’s fantasy writing! House of Dragons was such a great read. Full of magic, mystery, mischief, strong women and one roguish dark prince, this new world doesn’t disappoint. Gimme an underdog, a secret identity or two, and all the magic and dragons!! I couldn’t get enough.
Kerrigan is half fae, half human. Her father abandons her at the house of dragons. Here she struggles to find her foothold in the world.
Fordham is an excommunicated fae prince from the shadow world. There they are harsher than most in their beliefs. If you aren’t full blooded fae – you are nothing. But now he is here to become Dragon Blessed and win a dragon of his own.
Ker is just trying to find a spot in a society when she suddenly is thrust into the tournament.
Here we watch Ker and Ford interact and try to find out truths.
I liked the direction of this book but felt the cast of characters was vast and I found myself confused at times. Overall I liked this book and can’t wait to see where it goes next.
What an amazing story set in a whole new fantasy world. This was perfect for an escape while also catering to my romance needs. Kerrigan is one amazing character and the others aren’t far behind. It played like a movie in my head. The romance is not front and center as it’s a slow burn but it adds to the main plot of the story. I can’t wait to read more in this series.
There is so many things I love about this book but the first and most important thing is the fact that there’s a pronunciation guide and glossary in the beginning so you can better understand how this world works. Love that.
Kerrigan is a great heroine period. Despite her young age she has already lived some real hard lessons in life which toughened her up. She’s smart resourceful and determined which is a leathal combination for a young woman set out to prove everyone wrong. She’s hardened in many ways but she’s also vulnerable due to her insecurities and painful past experiences. She’s super depthy and I really enjoyed reading the many layers to her character throughout her journey.
This book is a masterpiece that’s carefully woven and flows seamlessly from one page to the next. The story is multidimensional with so much depth and substance there was never a moment of reprieve. The characters all play great parts and held my interest immediately, each one super dynamic and strong in there own right. I love the unique and very original world this author created and as far as a first book of a series goes I feel like she just laid all the right foundations down for what is going to be phenomenal series.
The build up and suspense was everything here. I feel like the story progressed at a perfect pace with just the right amount of action and emotionally impactful moments to give you all the feels whilst reading. This is a absolute rollercoaster in the best ways. Its climatic it’s drama filled and full of surprises. It has a sweet budding forbidden frenemies romance that I LOVED. . It just had everything I wanted and then some. I’m living for the fae/ dragon aspect of this world and the conflicts between half fae and the fae!. So fascinating.
I’m beyond excited to see where this world goes.
This world is complex, magical, stunning and captivating. I was not expecting a fae world as complex as this one. There are a lot of characters, 12 tribes divided into 4 groups that use magic differently: one group that uses magic for might: warriors; another group that uses magic for good: healers; a group that uses magic for efficiency, basically for everyday tasks and another group that doesn’t use magic at all. I think the first three groups are pretty much self-explanatory but the fourth group is definitely unique. In a world full of magic there’s a group (3 tribes) that choose to not use magic. It’s quite bizarre and intriguing. Then there’s also the Society that rules over everyone, half-fae, humans, dragons, a dragon tournament and a uprising. A uprising was brewing in this world filled with racism, poverty and discrimination.
Kerrigan, the main character, half-fae/half-human, was abandoned by her father when she was a child. She had been living and training in the House of Dragons, in the mountain, for years. Now that she was seventeen, she could finally find her place in the society. But she needed to convince a tribe to choose her. Being half-fae just meant she never truly felt like she belonged. Her heart wanted to belong to a tribe, however she was also questioning if she belonged downward with the humans. Maybe even fighting for the criminal that saved her life once before.
The beginning of the tournament really kicks this story into a fast pace. There was a lot happening! So, we have a fierce half-fae girl fighting for a place in the society, a mysterious dark fae prince, ruthless competitors, five dragons up for grabs, an assassin on the loose, an uprising lead by a mysterious red masked group, a slow burn romance and so much action!
I do think that there were too many things happening at the same time and it felt too much at times. I wanted a bit more insight on some of the tribes too, but I think we’ll get there in the next books. There’s some things about this society that did remind me a lot of The Hunger Games. I also didn’t know this series is connected to the Ascension series, which I didn’t read and there are spoilers for the events of that series. In my opinion, you don’t need to read the Ascension series before
House of Dragons, but just keep in mind that if you want to read the Ascension series it is best to read it before you start the Royal Houses series.
House of Dragons is a very entertaining, fast paced story with a complex magical world building. I can’t wait to read the next one because I bet there’s going to be a lot more of a certain banned tribe.

Fantasy lovers, K A Linde has your new addiction.
You have a feisty heroine who wants to chart her own path, not what is prescribed for her. You have a mysterious hero who both attracts and intimidates our heroine. You have powers and auras and, yes, dragons. So take a breath and dig into this beauty.
I can’t call myself a big fantasy fan. The books always look so long, and I worry I won’t be interested in spells and powers and all that stuff. This book, though, grabbed me. I liked how Linde keeps her plots fairly simple but loads them with intricate details that build this world with elements that captivated me.
I’m excited for the next book in the series, particularly because I need more Ford.
This story is gripping from start to finish. Dragons, warriors, epic battles in a world full of magic. I like Kerrigan! She’s a half-Fae with great powers. She’s more powerful than even she knows. Trouble has a way of finding her.
She joins the House of Dragons and must convince them to accept her.
K.A Linde knocked it out of the park with this story. The best part, it’s only the first book in the series! I can’t wait to read more.
Oh, how I missed the amazing and truly magical worlds that K.A. Linde creates for her readers. House of Dragons is everything you could ever need or want in a fantasy novel. This book has it all. Suspense and mystery around every corner. Amazing characters and let’s not forget the element of magic and the brilliant dragons. I just can’t say enough about how much I absolutely loved everything single thing about this book.
This book was brilliant! The magical journey the author takes us on is like no other. I fell in love with Kerrigan and how strong and resilient she was. Her sharp wit and loyalty was an added bonus. The prince of darkness also stole my heart. All dark and broody but selfless and extremely intriguing. I can not wait to see where this story takes us next. I am trying to come to terms with the fact that it will be a year, but I know it’ll be more than worth the wait.
3,5
House of Dragons is the first book I’ve read by this author. And she took me by surprise.
The characters are amazing, the plot and the whole storyline just magical. There’s this perfect, fighsty and caring heroine, and then there’s him – a perfect hero – dark, brooding, moody, quiet, but deadly.
House of Dragons contains injustice and prejudice, secrets, magic and many twist and turns.
The more I read, the more I felt it. And the pace intensified perfectly with each chapter.
Gorgeous!
