Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old — when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, … and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.
Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power — plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a sexy bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish — to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.
BONUS: This special eBook edition includes two bonus short stories set in the world of the Iron Druid Chronicles: Clan Rathskeller, and the eBook exclusive Kaibab Unbound.

This is the first book in the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne. The author uses a 2000 year old druid to bring the modern world together with the ancient myths of Ireland (and other cultures) into a wonderful story with great characters that you will fall in love with. If you want to try Urban Fantasy Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Chronicles is …
I discovered Kevin Hearne a few years ago through an online search for the term “Svartalfar.” To this day, I think Mr. Hearne is secretly a Svartalfar.
I read his books and loved the tales (and the tails–All Hail Oberon!). Mr. Hearne is exceptionally talented, able to weave a wonderful story that includes gods from many pantheons, the world’s …
The whole Iron Druid series, by Kevin Hearne is fantastic, and this first book sets up the characters and the world-building perfectly. It is well worth the read (or listen) at any price.
The pacing of this book was fantastic. I loved the characters, the magic, the world building, but especially Oberon. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!
Let me preface this by saying that I generally don’t read straight up Urban Fantasy. But something about this book just pulled me in and kept me reading all the way up through Shattered. Atticus is just down to earth relatable. Sure, he’s almost older than dirt, but he doesn’t have all the answers. He doesn’t pretend that he does. I really enjoyed …
A friend recommended this fantasy series. Druids are completely fascinating to me and this series does not disappoint. I have now bought all of it in ebook because I wanted to see the author’s words and spellings, and in audiobook which is read by Luke Daniels who is fantastic as the main character. I look forward to long trips just so I can …
Started reading the series and can’t put it down. Thanks to my brother in law for giving me the gift of the beginning books of the series and I read all the chapters and now started on the side lines or short books that Hearne has also written. I’m just sorry that I’ve run out of new books to read. Thanks, Kevin……….
This is the start of a series about a druid named Atticus. He is the last of his kind and a bit of a smart ass. Even though he is several hundred years old he looks like he is 21. He has many connections across multipal dimensions. He even has a talking dog. Full of references to other gods and goddess it is a great read. For fans of the Dresden …
I really have loved Hearne’s take on religion and mythology in this series. The Iron Druid is older than imagination but still very much young at heart. I love the combination of wisdom and creativity, and even the frustratingly lackadaisical attitude towards conflicts as they occur throughout history. Utterly enjoyable, with wonderfully flawed …
Loved it. I got the whole series
Great story line
This is a delightful story. I love paranormal stories because the author has to create world and characters either from imagination or history. Atticus is a druid. They really don’t get cast in leading roles much so I was excited for him. I know he has lived a long long life but he really uses all his knowledge when needed. He impressed me more …
Epic Urban Fantasy?
Atticus is a 2,100-year-old druid and the last of his kind. He lives in Arizona and just wants to be left alone. Unfortunately, his past catches up to him when a Celtic god decides to make druids extinct. The god sends minion after minion after Atticus until showing up in person to deal with this troublesome druid.
I enjoyed …
I love this series. I couldn’t put it down.
I thoroughly enjoyed Hearne’s writing style and the way he showed Oberon, the lead character’s Irish Wolfhound. I loved all the Irish lore, witches for different countries, and how they clashed. I loved the Iron Druid, Atticus O’Sullivan, and how he allied with the different goddesses and his blood-sucking lawyer. I won’t give any more away. It’s …
I’ve read Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid books several times. When COVID hit, I started at the beginning. Wonderful how the series starts with a bang and just keeps going.
If you don’t want to get caught up in a multibook adventure series, don’t start reading this.
When you do start, you won’t regret it.
Well, I blasted through the entire Iron Druid series (including short stories AND Oberon’s Meaty Mysteries) in just a few weeks. Hooked by “Hounded”, I just couldn’t put it down. Great story line, eye opening characters, plenty of action, loads of humor (thank you!), and educational if, like me, you haven’t spent time researching Nordic mythology. …
Get to know Atticus, the Iron Druid. I love the mixture of mythologies and how Atticus interacts with them. Oberon, the Irish wolf hound, is hilarious. The mental conversations these two shared had me laughing out loud
Do yourself a favor and read Kevin Hearne’s wonderful and riveting stories.
Overall, I cannot give a higher recommendation. If you’re in a reading slump, this is the book I would tell you to reach for. Just be for warned that it is a high fantasy book written for adults. Nevertheless, I am over the moon about this book, and can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

I like the way the author intertwines legends and myth with modern action.
