Undercover psychic investigator Casey Jones’ hunt for a traitor in Central Command gets blown all to hell when the crew of the military C130 cargo plane she’s riding on tries to kill her. Drawing on her telekinesis, Casey stops their assassination attempt and bails out as the aircraft goes down in flames. Casey meets her new partner at eight thousand feet, when Hothar is suddenly wrapped around … wrapped around her like a limpet. He declares he has come to rescue her from a watery death. All the butthead is going to accomplish is getting them both killed. She’s a battle-tested Siren and quite capable of catching the turncoat without his help.
Or maybe not. There’s suddenly a shitload of bad guys trying to kill them. Casey quickly realizes they are an unbeatable team. She’s a bit surprised when the young Coletti warrior brags that he knows how to perform over one hundred sex acts from his mind meld with the Overlord. Does she have a budding Don Juan on her hands? He’s certainly eager to try out every one of those positions. Come to think about it, so is she. But first, they must expose the traitor before billions die.

Loved Casey and Hothar. Love this series.
Casey Smith lost her father when she was very young, and her mother to the Tai-Kok when she was 9 and they attacked at her school. Her mother taught her what to do, Casey used her gift to destroy the invaders. That’s when Uncle Saul found her and she found she was part of the Jones clan. Raised with Kaylee and Sarah. Trained by Quinn and Uncle Saul, Casey is a formidable siren. Then the Coletti came. Casey was to young to be a mate, so she was returned to Earth with Uncle Saul until she turned 21. At 19, she has become one of his best agents.
Casey is sent under cover to Australia to investigate a traitor. When the Tai-Kok were destroyed the Rodan took their place. Her mission goes sideways. The traitors have psychic jamming technology. Casey is no ordinary siren, she uses her talent to save her self. Parachuting over the middle of the Pacific she is finally able to call for help and Uncle Saul sends a Coletti Warrior.
Hothar is nephew to Battle Commander Voss, the R hand to the Over Chief. At 19 he is a skilled warrior, thanks to a mind meld with Zarek. He has just been assigned to Uncle Saul. He is sent to rescue Casey. He wastes no time in claiming her. After his adventures with Zoey, only a Jones will do for a mate. Hothar has been paying attention. He has a good handle on how to handle a Jones mate without pissing her off to much.
Casey and Hothar make a good team. Zarek and Uncle Saul approve their mating, but they are both old fashioned kind of guys and the law is the law, so nothing more than a kiss with no tongue until they are 21. Two years is a long time. Who has that kind of self control The punishment, babysitting Thor and Haki.
Uncle Saul has met his match in Annie.
Fun, fast paced and steamy. Loved Casey and Hothar, my favorite so far.
I won this book in a Christmas giveaway. An entertaining story. The heroine is psychic and the hero is a warrior protecting Earth from invasion. A quirky hilarious story that keeps you entertained. A fairly fast read.
Gail’s books are so fun!
This was truly a sci-fi romance, complete with the Star Trek-ish terminology and graphic battles, but it was also so low-stress and infused with a unique brand of humor, and that’s what I loved the most!
Yes, conflicts and battles seem to surface wherever Casey happens to be, but Gail makes sure this warrior has everything she needs to prevail…like a devoted mate and a tentacle-clad-very-hungry-almost-invincible alien.
The ending of this book set up the next one PERFECTLY…Saul and Annie seem to have explosive chemistry, and I CANNOT wait to read what happens with them!!!
(I was given this book in consideration of my honest thoughts)
