Reasons I need to stop fantasizing about Linnea:1. She’s too young for me.2. She’s my daughter’s nanny.I could stop there, couldn’t I? I’m already a cliché. The single dad who’s hot for the nanny. But it gets worse.3. She’s my sister-in-law.My wife died when our daughter was a baby, and Linnea was just a quiet teenager. I barely knew her. When my in-laws insist she move to Seattle to be my … insist she move to Seattle to be my live-in nanny—after a string of caregivers who didn’t work out—I reluctantly agree.
I wasn’t counting on the smoking hot blonde with sinful curves, kissable lips, and a shy smile.
Linnea is perfect for my daughter—fun, patient, and kind. She might be perfect for me too, but I can’t think that way. She needs to live her own life, not be saddled with my insta-family.
Being around her is a special kind of torture, but I have to keep this infatuation to myself. I can’t fall for my daughter’s nanny.
But it might be too late.
Hot Single Dad is a stand-alone romance with a make-you-swoon HEA. It contains explicit language and content and is intended for a mature audience.

3.5 stars. This final installment of the Book Boyfriends series concludes with Caleb and Linnea’s story. Another original and well-written storyline with a lot of complications for the hero and heroine to overcome. You’ll also recognize your fave characters from the previous books with some laugh-out-loud moments with Mia and Weston again. A very satisfying HEA for Caleb and Linnea as well as a must-read to complete the series.
It’s Caleb’s turn and the hot single dad is due his HEA. When is late wife’s parents inform him that they’re sending their younger daughter to nanny for his daughter Charlotte, he is annoyed but grateful. He doesn’t know what to expect since the last he saw Linnea she was a quiet, awkward 14 year old. What a shock to his system to see the leggy blonde beauty who arrives! Linnea’s always lived in the shadow of her older sister. Not a driven professional like her or their parents, Linnea has always been quiet and expressed herself through music. When she arrives, she looks forward to caring for her niece and reacquainting herself with her brother-in-law. But when she first sets eyes on Caleb, her heart flips.she can’t be feeling what she does for her late sister’s husband, but she does.
Claire Kingsley does such a wonderful job of writing g characters that readers love, and of families we’d all love to belong to.
Third book in the Book Boyfriends Series. This time up is Caleb and Linnea. Caleb a single dad ER surgeon and Linnea the younger SIL of his deceased wife. Linnea does everything her parents make her do until she doesn’t. The attraction between them is immediate with a slow burn but a beautiful ending. Caleb is so sweet to his daughter Charlotte who we loved from the other two books.
So, at the beginning of this series I was SUPER pumped to get to Caleb’s book but once I read the summary I got a little ehhh. The whole idea of the SISTER IN LAW thing was really weird to me when I read the summary. I mean it just seems super weird—HOWEVER, the author did a fantastic job with this without making it super cringe worthy! Its definitely odd but I loved Caleb and Linnea! This turned out to be such a sweet rom com!!
I absolutely loved this single dad romance!! Caleb is a sexy AF dad and his love for his daughter makes him all the more swoon-worthy.
This story is full of so much emotion and so many heartwarming moments that gave me heart-eyes and all the flutters. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
The chemistry between Caleb and Linnea was electric and to see them near each other yet trying to stay away was cute. They tried to deny their attraction, but little did they know how perfect they were for each other.
And how adorable was Bug? She stole the show quite often. To see her break out of her shell was a sweet and beautiful thing and made the mom in me want to hug and squeeze her.
I loved everything about this book.
The writing is excellent, the characters irresistible, and the story charming and smile-inducing.
There’s humor, plenty of heart, and a deliciously perfect amount of steam. I was a very happy and satisfied reader when I reached the end.
** Her Best Friend was a PERFECT little bonus story. It made me smile BIG – I loved it so much.
This is written in first person with dual POV.Caleb and Linnea have a story with some complications. I love how sweet Linnea is and how she grows through the story. I love it when she finally stands up to her controlling mother. I love Caleb and what a good dad he is. Holy cow! You can’t get any hotter than that. I love that she and Caleb fit together so well. They really do complete each other. Charlotte is 100% adorable. I love that Caleb is so supportive of Linnea and wants to make sure she has an opportunity to do what she wants with her life. I love the message that dreams don’t have to be huge to be satisfying. Another fantastic book by this author. This book has it all: humor, plenty of heat, and squeeze your heart emotion.
Really, really enjoyed this book! Probably my favorite of this little trilogy.
I’m really enjoying this series. All of these books have been sweet, easy reads. And I like that they intentionally play with the typical romance tropes. Linnea and Caleb’s story was just as fun and the first two- with the bonus of Charlotte’s cuteness. 6 yr olds are always entertaining. The only thing that bugged me was that everyone just kept talking about her being “The Nanny” and only mentioned a few times that she was her Aunt. Maybe this was intentional to play up the single dad falling for the nanny trope but still it kind of annoyed me. I am going to go look for Charlotte and Noah’s book now though.
The third book in this series I like the best!
We got to know Caleb as secondary character in the other books and I love to read his story. After losing his wife he has been raising his daughter Charlotte alone while working as a doctor in a hospital. When the book opens he is picking up his sister-in-law Linnea from the airport. She is the younger sister of his late wife and she will be his nanny for a while. They have not seen each other for quite a while and are both immediately attracted to each other. I loved that.
Their relationship develops in a very natural way. I adored little Charlotte and thought Linnea was great with her. I did not understand why everyone referred to Linnea as ‘the nanny’ as she was also her aunt. Thought it was a bit odd. I also liked the fact that Caleb talked to Weston (book 2) about his dilemma. At the end of the book we get a sweet extra about Weston and his little baby girl.
Great book! And if you subscribe to Claire’s newsletter you receive a novella about Charlotte ten years later. Which is lovely and gives you a glimpse into the future of the Lawson family.
(2017)
This is my least favorite in the series midway it started to drag big-time.
Good ending to the Boyfriend series. Funny, and also heartwarming.
I’ve been waiting for Caleb’s story since meeting him in Book Boyfriend. Thanks to whispersync, I both read and listened to the audiobook, narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Rock Engle. You don’t need to read the previous books to enjoy this one, but the series is interconnected, so previous characters do appear.
Caleb was just as sweet and loving as he was in the previous books, but getting to finally be inside his head helped to understand how he struggled to balance his home and professional life. I loved his relationship with his daughter Charlotte and his family. His confusion and hesitation regarding pursuing a relationship with Linnea was honest and realistic. I was amazed that it was Weston who actually gave the best advice in the book. I also really liked Linnea and felt that her kind and nurturing personality complemented Caleb very well. She definitely grew throughout the book, but sometimes her age and naivete were very apparent.
One of my favorite moments in the book was their first kiss. Emotions were running so high and this is where listening to the audio really took it to another level. Rock Engle was amazing as sexy and vulnerable Caleb! He gave such an emotional performance and I could feel all of Caleb’s confusion, anger, longing, desire, and love. Engle’s enthusiasm during the more intimate scenes will have you fanning yourself too! I also really enjoyed Savannah Peachwood’s performance, and her narration as the shy and youthful Linnea was excellent. Engle and Peachwood complemented each other very well and of the three books in this series, this was my favorite narrating duo.
I will admit that though I really enjoyed the book, it took me a bit to wrap my head around a few things due to personal preference/feelings. First, I’m not usually a fan of the dead spouse trope. It takes me longer to be on board with the romance when I know in the back of my mind that the previous relationship/marriage either wouldn’t have ended or wasn’t given a chance to end naturally. Second, the heroine happens to be the hero’s former sister in law. Linnea is Charlotte’s aunt, but will Charlotte call her mom? Will it be confusing for Charlotte that her future siblings will actually be her cousins too? Having sisters myself, this was a really tough pill to swallow. Third, the heroine is about a decade younger than our hero. The ten years isn’t as big of an issue for me, as the actual age of our heroine is. It’s just hard when the characters are in different stages of their lives (especially with Caleb settled with a daughter and Linnea a recent college graduate). Many readers will have no issues with these items, but for me it definitely gave me pause. I think what helped me understand the story most was the Afterword at the end of the ebook. Honestly, it is such a shame that these Afterwords from the author are not included in the audio versions. They give so much insight into the thought process of the character and that, coupled with the advice Weston dispenses in the book to Caleb, really helped me put my personal feelings aside and just enjoy the story.
The epilogue brought a huge smile to my face and seeing all the former couples as well as Mr. Lawson a little into the future was perfect. The end of the ebook also includes a bonus chapter from Weston’s POV and his adjustment to fatherhood (Gah! I love him so much!), as well as a link to a short story featuring Caleb’s daughter Charlotte and her friend Noah in the future. Definitely recommend this series and I’m sad that it’s come to a close.
Audiobook Review
Overall 4.5 stars
Performance 5 stars
Story 4 stars
This book was the most emotional for me. The characters were awesome as always but this book was just a bit heavier on the emotional aspects for me because of the what has happened to the characters. It was really good overall. I enjoyed it.
Another great read from Claire Kingsley! Last of the Book Boyfriend series didn’t disappoint!! Caleb the hot, doctor dad is sent his former sister-in-law from the overbearing ex-inlaws until her concert pianist career takes off. Sparks fly immediately but its wrong to act on their feelings, she’s the nanny and his dead wife’s sister, what could be more wrong or could it be forever? Inappropriate texts, family comments, boob judging? Careful when you drink reading this one!
Amazing!!
As always, Claire has written a story that I will remember and cherish for years to come…
I freaking love the Lawson family and their respective spouses! The group convos are unfiltered, real, but funny as hell! There are a lot of laugh-out-loud moments with this group.
Linnea and Caleb are awesome together, and even though it was insta-lust at first sight, they don’t act on it right away. They really get to know each other, again. I love and adore Charlotte aka Bug. Such a sweet little girl. You can tell that she’s afraid for her loved ones to go because she fears they may never come back…
Linnea is so sweet, smart, and shy. What a beautiful heart she has, and she genuinely loves & cares for her niece.
Caleb is the best father; always thinks of his daughter’s happiness first. He’s just as adorable as his daughter–This Hot Single Dad manages to blush when put on the spot! I have yet another (Kingsley) book boyfriend to add to the list!!
Every story in this series just got better! While I’m still quite fond of Weston, Caleb was pretty awesome himself. He was such an amazing father to Charlotte, and truly put her needs first. Seriously, Caleb was one devoted dad. And then when his former in-laws send Charlotte’s aunt Linnea to Seattle to be the nanny…..holy smokes! There was such instant chemistry between Caleb and Linnea, but understandably they were both scared to act on their feelings. Yes, Caleb had been married to her sister……but the feelings he had for Linnea could not be compared to what he had with his late wife. Linnea completed their family in a way that I don’t think anyone else could. She knew what it meant to be a mother, even if she wasn’t trying to take the place of Charlotte’s mom.
Such a wonderful story that I just absolutely adored. Absolutely loved this series – and I loved the bonus chapter from Weston!
Yep. Three books inside of five days. I did that. I would have had them finished sooner, but I don’t get paid to read so I had to actually go to work. Gross.
Anyway, Caleb. Yeah, there’s something about a hot, single dad that has women dropping their panties and throwing themselves (vagina first) at them. I get it. There’s just something sexy about a man who cares for and spends time with his child. There’s just something about a man who puts his little girl–or guy–first in his life. Silly, but that’s how it is. Don’t mind me, I’ll be over here, grabbing a new pair of panties.
Linnea. Man, I had to ask how to pronounce that name, but after figuring it out, I have to say it’s one of the most beautiful names I’ve stumbled upon. And she’s just so amazing. Kind, caring, giving, nurturing, sweet, beautiful. She’s just all the things and so much more. It’s no wonder Caleb and his darling daughter, Charlotte, fall for her. She’s the missing key to this duo.
But, as with any story, real or fiction, there are complications. Things that make this relationship more difficult than it should ever have to be. What things, you ask? Well, there’s the age gap, the fact Linnea is Charlotte’s nanny, oh and one other teeny, tiny thing that I’ll force you to find out on your own. But the odds are against them, as they are with many couples.
This is one couple you don’t want to miss. And if you make it this far, I think you’ll want to subscribe to Claire Kingsley’s newsletter so you can read her short story about a certain cool kid and her bestie.
This story was so cute and well written. I have been waiting for this story for a while now and I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed the characters and how they related to each other. I feel in love with Caleb in chapter 14, I mean seriously I think I highlighted the entire chapter and had to stop reading because I was swooning so hard. When you read it you will understand. In that moment, Caleb was my perfect man (my heart becomes his in that moment). As with all of Claire’s stories, I cried a little and swooned hard. I fell in love, laughed well, and am sad it is over. I highly recommend this story for any reader but especially those readers who have been following this family for years. It is well worth the wait.
Claire Kingsley has never let me down! I absolutely fell in love with her while reading Book Boyfriend and I’ve come back for more! Hot Single Dad is the perfect story to end my summer!!
Caleb is a hot, widowed surgeon with a young daughter, Charlotte (Bug). He is struggling to find a comfortable balance between work and his daughter. Right now, he’s just not succeeding. Caleb’s former in-laws decide to help him out, by sending his late wife’s younger sister, Linnea.
A hot, single dad and a sexy nanny who happens to be his sister in law? This usually isn’t my favorite trope but after reading it…..positively excellent!!
This book was all kinds of HOT! I admire the way Caleb and Linnea do not succumb to the intense attraction they have towards each other which was evident in the very first chapter. I became so invested in their relationship because Caleb and Linnea were so relatable and likeable. The struggles that each of them faced were something you see in everyday life and I love that about Kingsley’s writing.
Will Caleb and Linnea finally admit to each other that there is something so much more going on in their relationship other than employer/employee? Or will Linnea change direction in her life to please her family, yet again?
I laughed, I cried, and I loved every minute of Hot Single Dad! I know I can always count on Claire Kingsley for a excellent story! It made my heart happy to also be able to see the Lawson bunch and catch up to where they are in their lives. And those epilogues?? They NEVER disappoint!! I am crazy over Hot Single Dad!
Short review. Another great addition to the series. I loved the relationship between the characters, Caleb is such a good dad to his daughter, I like how Linnea could relate Charlotte and help bring her out of her shyness. There’s also a bonus chapter that feature Kendra and Weston from the second book that will make you smile.
