The action in this one was awesome–so exciting! Jack “Hawk”Hunter, the team’s sniper, was every bit the hero I thought he was going to be. Gina Domenico was no pushover, either. Not only had she created and built a fabulously successful career for herself, but she was a fiercely protective mother… even if she did keep the fact she’d had a baby with Jack a secret from him. But in her defense, at the time they were together, he was in the throes of grief and had told her he didn’t want a family or commitment again.
I wanted to completely love this story, but I will confess that after a while, the anger between them was too much. Yes, he had every reason to be angry over the fact she’d kept his son from him. But sometimes, Jack and Gina were just mean to each other when they lashed out in pain. Maybe that’s realistic for some characters, but for a man who’s notorious for keeping his cool and not saying much, it almost felt out of character. And she’s supposed to be so good with words. These two very hurt people, though, struggled to communicate in a healthy way.
But everything else was great. Some of the best sex scenes in the HOT series, imo. The scenes with tough-guy Jack and his newfound son melted my heart. And, as always, it’s great to see this team of soldiers go into action against some very, very bad guys.
I love this writer!
Enjoyed the characters and storyline
Enjoyed this quick read
Good storyline. Macho male and independent woman butt heads to find they’re way to a happily ever after
HOT Shot is book 5 in Lynn Raye Harris’s series Hostile Operations Team. It is the 3rd book I have read as I do not currently have book 3 and 4. I really wish I owned the complete set because waiting for my budget and to be read shelf to clear, to read more HOT is agonizing! However my family is probably glad as I am finally moving out of my she -cave and paying attention to my surroundings. When it comes to Lynn Raye Harris and her HOT operatives, nothing gets in the way of my ready-NOTHING! The House could be on fire and I would probably grab my shoes and my kindle and head outside to sit under a tree reading while waiting for the fire department! So maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration but I do tend to be a little bit obsessed with this series. This book has all the hallmarks of a great romance novel. It has just the right balance between steamy sex and suspense. No cliffhangers and it does end happily ever after. The novels can be read as stand alone but as characters from previous novels continue to show up, it is probably best to read them in order if possible.
Lynn Raye Harris HOTTIES are quickly becoming a favorite of mine, earning her a place next to Nora Roberts, Ava Miles and Tess Thompson as my favorite authors.
03/09/2021 Ms. Harris is an exceptional writer with an amazing imagination. “Hot Shot” (nook) is another of her stories in the Hostile Operations Team Series. The nail-biting plot includes a lot danger and bad-ass action. Jack’s and Gina’s love story is filled with heartache and angst and, lots of sexy loving.
I easily rate “Hot Shot” at six (6) stars. I look forward to reading many more books by Ms. Harris.
Good story
I enjoyed this book very much!
Thought it was a great book from the very beginning. Once I got a few chapters in I had a hard time putting it down. And I really loved that it wasn’t as predictable as many I’ve read. It did give me little surprises throughout which I really likes. Even though I was pretty sure I knew exactly how it would end, I still wanted to keep reading to find out how they would get there. Very well written and I’m now readying the very 1st book in the series. Will probably read more in the series to find out their stories as well!!
love the series, and can’t wait for the next story. Strong, sensitive hero with an equally strong woman to love.

HEA? Well no spoilers, you going to have to read it to find out.
Miss Gina Domenico, pop sensation, was looking for a place to hide from the media. Unbeknown to her, man she chose to spend time with her, Metaxes, was an arms dealer. Fine was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and became a witness to multiple murders and sought to escape only to fall into the arms of the very person who shot those around her, Jack “Hawk” Hunter. Gina and Hawk spent three hot nights and days while awaiting for extraction.
Hawk had been in love with his wife, who died eight months prior with their unborn child. He has mourned her all this time, and being in close proximity with Gina for three days, he gave into the attraction he felt for her. Wen they were both rescued by his team members, both Hawk and Gina went their seperate ways.
Fast forward three years, and Gina contacts Hawk, her child, Eli, had been abducted, and she needs his help. Gina had kept a secret from. Hawk. That secret is Eli, who is his son as well. However, this is not just a simple case of abduction for money. The abduction of Eli is more deeper, more darker, more sinister. This will take the whole team of Hostile Operations Team too rescue the two year old, and bring him home.
Hawk is furious for keeping Eli existence from him. Hawk wont ever forgive Gina of her omission, but they need to work together to free their little boy.
Gina isn’t a door mat. She had a tough life, and that had made her into a strong woman. Gina is comfortable with the person she as become, and stands up to anyone, even Hawk.
“Sex sells, baby. Or haven’t you heard.”
“Then your doing a fine job of selling it.”
“You’re an asshole, you know that? You don’t get to judge me or make assumptions about my business just because I’m wearing a dress that makes you hard. Jerk off tonight if you must, but blame yourself, not me.”
You have to love that. So now we have the push pull between our two main characters, and it makes things between them so much more interesting. I loved these characters. How they sort their feelings, and what their willing to sacrifice for their Eli is a wonderful read.
Action packed and entertaining.
Love seal books great easy read
I have read other books in series and each of them are very good entertaining reads
You don’t have to, because they’re stand alone, but you’ll want to read the whole series.
Love all Lynn Raye Harris books!
My first book by this author…but definitely nit my last. It has it all..love,laughter,excitement and suspense. This was not the first book in this series but it did not matter to me. I will happily go back and start at the beginning.
A good story with lots of action, intrigue and steam. Love the camaraderie between the members of the HOT teams. Wonderful characters. HEA guaranteed.
Loved the story. Love seeing all the guys come together to protect their own. Loved jack and Gina. You get that it’s a real relationship that needs time to evolve and grow. And he doesn’t just love her as soon as she is back because that’s not realistic. He is pissed and he had very right after she withheld the information she did. Only coming to him after he son was kidnapped and dropping a bomb. Loved how they were drawn to each other despite butting heads. It was real and hot. Loved little Eli.
