A really good SEAL romance.
Tucker needs a job on top of the one he has, in a hurry, because the bills are mounting up quickly. So when Jodi’s dad, Bill, hires him as the “new security specialist” or bouncer, she is stunned. Not only because she’s been watching him on the reality show he’s on but because of her instant attraction to him. But since he is married to the co-star of the show he is totally off limits. Or is he?
There is so much going on in this book but it’s easy to follow and it grabbed in from the very start. I really enjoyed how Tucker and Jodi worked things out and the emotions that went along with their relationship.
I received a free copy of this book via the Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The ‘Hot SEAL’ books are a great series of interconnected stand-alone novels that can be enjoyed in order or out of order. They are like M & M candies or potato chips because you can’t stop at just one. At the conclusion of ‘Hot SEAL, Runaway Bride’ we met Tucker, who agrees to take the place of a fellow SEAL on a reality TV show.
Tucker desperately needs money for family reasons. He ends up with a 3-month obligation to a woman he can’t stand, in order to get his big payday. While counting down the days until it’s over, Tuck takes a job as a security expert (bar bouncer) to help find a drug dealer. The bar is owned by Jodi and her father, and she is less than thrilled with her father’s choice of security.
The growing attraction between Tuck and Jodi can’t be acted on because of his contractual obligations to the TV show, resulting in a situation that torments them both. The investigation about the drug issue causes some intrigue. There are some LOL moments, and a lot more emotion than I ever would have expected, surrounding Tuck in particular. This slow-burn romance produces a lot of heat when it combusts, and an HEA that will leave you smiling.
Becca Jameson gives us an interesting and fresh storyline with Hot SEAL, Cold Feet. I loved that the characters had to maneuver a tough situation and build a friendship first. In fact, I loved everything about this book!
I just loved Jodie and Tucker and felt soo bad about the situation they are in and the fact that they can not act on their feelings while seeing each other pretty much every day. Throw in the mystery of who is selling pills at Jill and her Dads bar and you get a book you won’t put down as you need to know how things pan out and there are some great twists you don’t see coming!!
The best thing about Hot SEAL, Cold Feet is its examination of the trap that is “reality” TV. The hero Tuck is caught in a nightmare of his own making, a marriage he agreed to as part of his appearance on a reality TV show. He’s doing it for the extra money it brings to help keep his mom in her very expensive nursing home. But Tuck’s “marriage” is totally staged, scripted by the producers (with dialogue for each new episode), and forcing him to work with a woman he abhors. So what’s a former SEAL to do when he meets the woman of his dreams while stuck in this predicament?
Hot SEAL, Cold Feet moves swiftly, and I loved the portrayal of the farce of “reality” that reality TV offers. Some things are a bit too easy in this book; Tuck and his heroine Jodi basically fall in love at first sight, and there’s really no further journey to their relationship; their obstacles are all external. Tuck’s “wife” Katia is a shrill, utter idiot, so much so that I wondered why viewers would tolerate her or even want more of her (Tuck and Katia are starring in their own extension to the original show they were featured on).
Then there’s a mystery that Tuck is trying to solve, working at Jodi’s bar to find a drug dealer using the bar as a place to drop illegal diet pills. It seemed odd that the producers would let Tuck work at a job like this, as his profile is massively elevated due to his TV appearances. Basically, it’s a reason for Tuck to be working at the bar and interacting with Jodi, but a couple of these elements in the search to find the drug dealer didn’t gel for me.
But this is a really fun and very different type of book for Jameson, especially with the reality-TV aspect. It’s a lighthearted, enjoyable read.
Loved this book! I was hooked from almost the very beginning. The characters are realistic. The chemistry between Jodi and Tucker is off the chart … even when there is nothing physical between them it is hot! Oh don’t misunderstand, there are things in play that prevent the physical … for a time…. but that is not needed for the burn. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next, how was things with the show going to end, what would happen with the “wife”. There is an HEA, of course, but the journey there is a wild ride!
AWESOME READ!
HOT SEAL, COLD FEET, author Becca Jameson’s latest release in the SEALS in Paradise series is absolutely phenomenal. It grabbed this reader and did not let go until the last word was read! In addition to Ms. Jameson’s eloquently descriptive suspense, her characters are real, worthy and so easy to love (or dislike)! It is rare in this day and age to meet a man who lives in a morally upright manner in everything he does, never falling into the temptation to take the easy way out. It was both refreshing and inspiring to experience the man Tuck said he was and to watch him do what he was obligated to do while still building a solid, yet slow burn, relationship with Jodi. There are plenty of twists and turns in this epic military romance that portrays a wonderfully romantic tale. One which shines the light of respect on the Trident, while Tuck and Jodi shine the strength of doing what is right and loving upon those around them. If you have not yet purchased your copy, then do so right now! I volunteered to read a copy of HOT SEAL, COLD FEET, and then I bought a copy to support one of my favorite authors. This voluntary 5+STAR review is my way of enticing others to try out a “new to me author” by purchasing HOT SEAL, COLD FEET by Becca Jameson, today! You will be so glad you did! Happy pages!
In a story taken from the current obsession with reality TV, former SEAL Tuck gets a job working at Jodi’s bar trying to find the person dealing pills. I loved the topicality of this story which provides an insight into how we all fear that reality TV works, but choose to keep watching anyway. I found it a very enjoyable standalone read with characters that were charismatic and human.
At the end of the last book ‘Hot SEAL, Runaway Bride’ we meet Tucker who saves the day for Nick as far as the reality show goes. Tucker needs the money and even after marrying Katia, he agrees to an additional sum to stay married for 90 days. Now as he’s counting down the days, he gets a job as a bouncer to help find the person dealing drugs in the bar.
Jodi and her father own Bridgman’s Bar, and she’s not at all happy with her father’s new hire. She doesn’t want the publicity that will follow Tucker around.
Tucker wants this job to get away from Katia, they are a marriage in name only made more difficult by the constant streaming of video in their apartment. Between the scripted dialog, the arguments and the conditions of the contract, Tucker is going out of his mind.
The arguments with Katia, the growing romance between Tucker and Jodi, and the involvement with the show make for lots of amusement and angst. The investigation into the drugs suspenseful, and intriguing. However it’s the conclusion of the show that surprised me the most.
I really can’t wait to read the next book in this multi-author series.
Tucker Lawler is hired as a Security Specialist (bouncer) by Bill Bridgman the owner of Bridgeman’s Bar and his daughter Jodi who has been having trouble finding who is dealing drugs in their bar. The only problem is…..Tucker is one of the actors on Cold Feet a reality TV show and Jodi is incredulous that her dad hired this guy. Who is extremely handsome, an actor who doesn’t need the money and as they are barely staying afloat. But Tucker really needs this job and was hopeful that he wouldn’t be recognized but since he has been by Jodi Bridgman who is too damn cute and hides her beauty with a sharp tongue and even though she doesn’t want him here.
Her dad does. This is The Very Basic Beginning to a suspenseful romantic comically delightful mystery that I just could not put down. I loved this story.
Becca Jameson spotlights reality shows in Hot SEAL Cold Feet. Tucker Lawler and Jodi Bridgman couldn’t have worse timing for meeting and falling in love. He’s stuck in a nightmare of a marriage because a reality show and she’s trying to ferret out a drug dealer who’s using her bar to sell drugs. Tucker knows any feelings he has for Jodi have to be put on the back burner until the show is over. Giving into temptation would mean he loses the much needed prize money from the show. An unexpected twist gives these two their HEA sooner than expected.
I loved this book! I had some imaginary trouble going through it because I absolutely dislike reality TV, but I had to admire Tucker being resilient. I loved Jodi’s feistiness and her ability to love deeply and without reserve. So I loved seeing those two people falling in love.

The storyline was well written and the characters were so well created that as I turned each and every page I felt like the characters pulled me right into their journey as it unfolded!
