Michelle “Micki” works with professional athletes for her Uncle’s PR Firm. She grew up a tomboy and along with it has trouble finding a man in her life. Hard to do so when they treat her as one of the guys.
Damian is a professional baseball player, along with his fame is his playboy tendencies.
You go in thinking he is a cocky womanizer only to be surprised the true man he is underneath it all.
I must say that Uncle Yank is a stubborn old mule that just wants the best for his nieces yet needed a HEA himself.
You will come to find he is funny, sweet and just as stubborn as Micki. You see him go through his own struggle in life along with Micki and at times hard to watch.
The characters were like-able, there was many funny moments especially the sisters’ and uncle’s banter with others. The story just dragged on longer than it needed to.
The ending was fun and beautiful but because how much it dragged on it lowered my rating. I give this a low 4 stars but still well written and enjoyable.
I think I’ve already mentioned this before, but the Hot Zone series is one of my first reads by Carly Phillips back in the day. I’ve become much better at expressing my views on a book, so this review should be more informative … ready?
OMG, if you haven’t read this series, what are you waiting for?!?! ….. …..
….. ….. (You need more?! lol)
These girls and their Uncle will thoroughly entertain you. Michelle Jordan aka Micki , the youngest of the sisters, is a bones deep tomboy. One of the guys. That was her defense mechanism. She hid behind that so she wouldn’t have to feel rejection. She just didn’t think enough of herself. Until Damian Fuller … **swoon** What a ridiculously good hero Carly created in him!
So here’s what happened 🙂 …. Micki and Damian shared a scorching hot kiss on New Year’s Eve. That kiss opened up things for Micki. She decided to go after Damian and with a little help from her sister, she transformed from tomboy to a girlie-girl, for lack of any other term LOL But there’s always a catch when someone changes for another. And there’s always insecurities that come with that. But Micki’s changes were only superficial at first. She slowly started to change inside as well. She didn’t leave her tomboy ways totally behind, but she was definitely a new woman. And she loved the woman she had become but again … insecurities. And Damian saw that. He felt that. And he fell for her because of it 🙂 You can really feel their connection throughout this book. It unfolded perfectly.
This was a really fun and sexy journey. Everything about it felt real and believable. You could relate to Micki easily and also in Damian. It’s impossible not to root for these two. Neither held any negative qualities to mention and altho the conflict Damian was faced with was a bit of a cliche, it still felt right. I JUST FRIKKIN LOVE THESE PEOPLE! Sidebar: Yank and Lola borrow the show splendidly and Yank is still one of my all time favorite grumpy but lovable characters!
I am loving the Hot Zone series! Micki is a tomboy who wants to be seen as more than “just one of the guys” by the sexy as hell baseball player Damian, with whom she shared a hot kiss with on New Year’s. When the opportunity arises to work with him and his team she had no choice but instead everything goes so wrong or so right. I loved the chemistry between Micki and Damian. Also, loved that Uncle Yank and Lola had some closure with their story! Such a fun read that you get sucked into and can’t put down!
Hot Number is the 2nd book in the Hot Zone Series.
We met Yank Morgan, Lola and his nieces Annabelle, Sophie, and Michelle. Yank provides more insight about Michelle a/k/a Micki after their arrival in his home. Micki tagged along with Yank, and was more into sports than hanging with her sisters.
Micki wants to transform herself from being one of the guys, into a lady to draw the attention of the one guy who doesn’t notice her. Damian Fuller, the Center Fielder and Captain of the Renegades. They shared a kiss, and Micki can’t get him out of her mind. Damian is fighting to save his career, and he doesn’t have any time for distractions. So he treats Micki the only way he can so he can focus on his job, as one of the guys.
The team heads to Florida for an away game, but they are also hosting an event for children with autism. Damian contacts Yank to try and get the event cancelled. No go. Since Annabelle is out of the office, Micki is sent down to handle the event. What transpires after that brings Damian and Micki together in more ways than one.
NO Spoilers here. Carly does an amazing job incorporating all of the characters you met in Book 1, plus new ones. There are side-stories that fit in perfectly with Micki and Damian’s story.
