English professor Dr. Georgeanne Hayes has a problem. Her star pupil, an Army sergeant who works in a Top Secret military program, is missing—and someone tried to push her in front of a train last night.Sam “Knight Rider” McKnight is used to looking out for Georgie. When they were kids, she was just his best friend’s baby sister. But Georgie’s not a baby anymore and Sam is getting some very … very male—and very dirty—thoughts about the girl he knows he can never have.
When someone threatens Georgie’s life again, Sam will do anything necessary to keep her safe. Even if it means spending the next few days locked up in a remote house on Maryland’s Eastern Shore with her.
Sam might be used to denying himself what he wants, but he’s about to find out that being cooped up with Georgie will push him to the limit. And maybe beyond.

”…one of those must read black ops series that is as good as Maya Banks & Cindy Gerard!” — Just Plain Sassy
“Seriously is there a hotter series out there in this genre? Because if there is, I don’t know about it. I have loved these books from book 1 and they are only getting better and better not to mention hotter!!!” — Goodreads

This is the 3rd book I read by Lynn Raye Harris. This book’s story line was good. I really liked the hot & steamy scenes. I liked Georgeanne’s character, she knows what she wants. I felt sorry for Georgeanne & Sam. Even though this book had very little action it was still good.
I read this book after finishing the first in the series, and am now starting book 3. I recommend the series.

Georgie and Sam have known each other for years. Sam and Georgie’s brother, Rick, are best friends and Georgie had a crush on him forever. Sam joins the Army but he now works for HOT and Georgie goes off to college and then gets married. Now Georgie is divorced, living in Washington, and teaching military men and women. When a student doesn’t come to class, she tries to find him but no one I’ll tell her anything. Then she is pushed and almost falls into the path of a train. She hasn’t seen Sam in six years but he shows up at her door. He is checking up on her for her brother. Georgie is threatened, and then someone breaks into her house and she calls Sam for help. He hides her away and their desire heats up. Georgie wants Sam but Sam doesn’t want to disappoint her family and he doesn’t think he’s good enough for her. Can she get Sam to let the shield around his heart and give them a try?
Sweet, suspenseful, and very sexy. I love these books because they are so real, you think you are right there too.
Enjoyed the story, plenty of action but too many chapters with each character talking about their past life and her trying to talk him into being with her and he why he shouldn’t.
I read both the original release and the extended version of this story and I have to say my original review still rings very true. I do feel like the suspense elements were turned up a bit more in the extended version, but the romance for me stayed the main focus and I adored every single moment of reconnecting with Georgie and Sam.
I really loved both Georgie and Sam in this book. Sam has been fighting his attraction to his best friend’s little sister since they were teens. It was totally worth the wait for them both when he finally gave in to their mutual attraction. Hot and sexy describes them as a couple. The fact they were on the run and Sam was protecting Georgie only made it hotter.
While still not as suspenseful as the first book in the series, I enjoyed the romance between Georgie and Sam being the focus of this story. There was more mystery and suspense in the extended version of the story, A very good addition to this series and a great fast read for anyone looking for a sexy romance. In fact re-reading Georgie and Sam’s story really only made me want to go back and reread the entire series of stories in the Hostile Operations Team series.

Georgie was Sam’s childhood best friends little sister. He has always looked out for her so when her brother asked him to check on her he didn’t hesitate. Georgie is trying to figure out why one of her military students suddenly quit coming to class when she gets bumped and almost falls in front of a subway train. Will Sam be able to protect Georgie and keep his hands to himself?
I am loving this series so much! Love that we get to know each of the team members a little better in each book. HOT sexy military men and the women who tame them. Each book gives you a bit of suspense as the team does their job.
Sam is one of the newest members of HOT. He is still trying to learn his place within his new team. Georgie is a professor and she and Sam have know each other for many years, as Sam is her brothers best friend. When one of her students comes up missing she asks Sam for help in locating him. Someone is threatening her, and Sam will stop at nothing to keep her safe. Will Sam and Georgie be able to forge a future together or will his dangerous and demanding job be to much for them to handle? Another enjoyable read in this series.

. Boring.
No real errors.
No real action.
No real suspense.
A lot of yacking.
Intimate scene was the best part and that was also filled with a lot of yacking.
2nd book in this series I have read and my Last.
When I read suspense I want SUSPENSE.
Not a lot of yacking about the danger they are in. I want the Action.
I have like 5 of Ms. Harris’s books. I have read 2.
All the rest go into my
‘Not For Me’ shelf.
By the way, the adult action is okay. Not super hot & heavy, but okay
I enjoy this writer and her series. I read her books every chance I get.
A great novel for the beach or any vacation. I like her style of writing and it gives me a look into a different lifestyle.
I loved this story. This story has so many ups and downs that it’s hard to keep track in the book. I loved the background story in this book. I also loved how they found each other again. This book has so many things that gets you all turned around and leaves you hanging. It also has some hot moments throughout the book. The characters are rounded and it makes you want to fall in love with them. The story-line is so fun and really unique. I recommend this book.
HOT Mess by Lynn Raye Harris gave me that ” ..high fly ball over the left field fence…world series ” kind of feeling! It was all about the love from beginning to the end. Well love and a whole lot of catch the evil bad guys suspense. I have said it before and I will say it again, Lynn Raye Harris, really knows how to portray the heart and soul of the Special Operative. Sam McKnight the main character in HOT Mess, is one SPECIAL operative! Like her other characters in her HOT series, Sam comes alive! He is so real you can imagine him sitting on a cooler in your backyard while your own Special Ops man, love of your life is grilling up hot dogs and hamburgers! Lynn also tackles the tough issues like how you can love a man who disappears without warning, stays gone for weeks at a time and can’t call you to tell you if he is alive or did. She gets that the women who can love a man like that have to be strong, brave and SPECIAL, themselves. This is only book 2 in the series, so she has only just begun to introduce the support network that forms between the unit and their family. But as I read I knew that Lynn really gets it, and she writes so well that others not familiar with this particular military life gets it too.
Ms. Harris has a talent for creating edge of your seat suspense also. There are plenty of twists and turns that keep you wondering how is the conflict ever going to be resolved. And still in the end there is that happily ever after that gives you that world series feeling! Like potatoes chips that you just can’t eat only one, HOT series has you reaching for the next book in the series before you have barely finished the last. Believe me , I will be keeping my eyes open for a good deal on a box set because Lynn Raye Harris has me hooked on HOT!
Enjoyed
this book was ok.
There isn’t a HOT book I haven’t liked. <3 I missed Sam and Georgie's story along the way, so it was interesting to go back and see the characters near the beginning of the series.
I loved it. A very entertaining read. While it did have suspense, it was more focused on the relationship between the hottie protective hero and his best friend's (his friend, too) younger sister. Coming from the wrong side of the tracks, Sam McKnight didn't think he was good enough for Georgeanne Hayes, not matter how sizzling the chemistry was between them. After a supreme misunderstanding puts her in the middle of a terrorist plot in D.C., Sam and the HOT team are called upon to protect her and use her as bait to ferret out the bad guys. I would have liked more of the mystery/threat/danger to balance out the romance, but when you're in a safe house, and your protector is doing his job 😉 it's hard for the bad guys to get to you.
I thought the end ran on a little long, especially since it was light on the suspense plot. But if I look at this as a contemporary romance with suspense elements, it rocked!
I've got a couple more HOT books to track down and read, and I can't wait! Ms. Harris knows how to write sizzling hot chemistry!
Character development and story is interesting. I bought all the books in the series after reading this one.
What a marvelous read. “HOT Mess (#2 Hostile Operations Team) (nook) kept my attention throughout. The story covered all aspects of a good book – heartache, angst, suspense, drama, love and, a happily ever after.
Ooh, Sam was a HOT mess but totally gorgeous. Really enjoyed his and Georgie’s love story. Struggled to put the book down. It was a great mix of steaminess and action!
Very original story line – you could not help becoming vested in the story line
Love her books
