What do you do when the whole world has seen you getting down and dirty in a broom closet?I, Elle Evans, am on the run.Not from the fuzz—although that would be more exciting. No, I’m on the run from the four-year-old private tape that, thanks to my vengeful ex, has probably already ruined my vlogging career. There’s nothing like the entire world knowing what you look like mid-O.Creek Keys, Florida, … mid-O.
Creek Keys, Florida, is a million miles away from NYC and the perfect place for me to hide for the rest of summer until I can figure out what I’m going to do.
Something that’s easier said than done since my new landlord’s daughter thinks you’re God’s greatest gift. Even better? Their beach house is right next to the one I’m renting, so there’s no getting away from her—or her hot, British dad.
Who most definitely does not think I’m role model material.
He might be right.
The problem is that neither of us can say no to her.
Or each other.

A fun, quick read, full of interesting characters that you can’t help but love. I can always count on Hart to deliver a witty, laugh out loud Rom-Com that will keep me hooked from the start. Hot Mess was everything I love about her writing and I couldn’t put it down.
Elle and Theo are absolutely perfect. Their story is a bit of a slow burn full of hilarious moments and steamy chemistry. I couldn’t get enough of them.
I loved this one and highly recommend this one to any lover of Rom-Com. I can’t wait to see what Hart brings us next!
Well, Emma Hart has absolutely hit it out of the park again with her latest release, Hot Mess! We have a woman on the run from her social media life, and a man, a sexy, single, British man, who just wants what’s best for his daughter, who happens to be obsessed with said woman on the run. And the clincher? He’s the one that has a place where she can lie low for a while and get back on her feet.Elle wasn’t sure what she was planning when she got in the car and drove south. Theo wasn’t sure what he expected from the woman his daughter idolized. A hilarious and witty clash of wills, with a fabulous cast of secondary characters as added perfection, while the characters might feel like a bit of a hot mess, it’s a messy situation that I adored getting to the bottom of!With some emotional twists and turns, this story left me with a grin on my face, and hoping for more in the world of Creek Keys! So, what are you waiting for? Don’t you want to escape to the beaches of Florida and end up moving in next to a slightly grumpy but extremely sexy single dad that happens to have a British accent? I know I want to!Also, the beauty of a classic cup of tea…PG Tips are the best, and I loved their fifteen seconds of fame in this story, most well deserved! (Now I’m off to make a cup of tea!)
Emma has once again delivered a rom-com I just couldn’t put down! Elle is on the run from a situation that changes her world in the blink of an eye. Theo is a single dad of a sassy teenager who stumbles upon her social media idol in a small town diner. What happens when Elle and Theo are pushed together by a busy body waitress? A whole lot of laugh out loud moments, steamy chemistry and an inevitable romance! If you enjoy a broody Brit, a sassy teen, meddling-matchmaking friends, geriatric alien hunters and swoon-worthy HEA’s, this is the story you definitely want to read!
What a fun read! I really enjoyed Elle and Theo’s story. Their romance is really, really slow burn, but the lead up to it is a lot of fun too. And that location? I want to go to the Florida Keys, like, yesterday! Especially if I can stay in a place with a sexy single dad/landlord next door, bonus if he has a British accent… 😉
There were a lot of really lighthearted moments here–Theo’s daughter, his Aunt Elsie, and Elle’s own clumsiness all delivered a lot of laughs–but there’s a serious side as well, thanks to the reason that Elle is in Florida in the first place. I liked the message Elle gave Ari (Theo’s daughter) about things on the internet not always (what she actually said: almost never) being true-to-life, and I loved the changes she decided to make for herself and to her online presence because of it.
My only “complaint” here is the three weeks of Elle-and-Theo cuteness we don’t really get to see–I was a bit bummed that there’s a sudden time jump between the second to last and last chapters. The absolutely adorable epilogue helped to make things more bearable, though… 😉
Rating: 4 stars / B+
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Elle literally just got in her car and drove when she found out that her life was getting ready to implode. No destination in mind, just go, go, go. She finally finds a diner and a friendly face. She can’t believe her luck that she finds someone that can help her with everything.
Then she meets Theo and his daughter Ari. His daughter loves her, Theo not so much. Once he actually starts to get to know her, his attitude changes. Her life is in another state, can there be anything more than just a fling? Do they even want to explore and see what they could have?
This is a SLOW burn book that will make you giggle, fall in love with Theo, Ari and Elle. Loved his friends and his kooky relative and her friends.
Hot Mess is a breath of fresh air, it’s fun, witty and flirty and just what I needed. I was hooked from the first page and there was not putting down until I had read the final line .
Elle Evans is a vlogger and she has a massive following , life is good and she is having fun that is until her ex boyfriend decides to release a sex tape of her and that means she needs to escape New York. Elle knows she was set up but proving it is not going to be easy so she jumps in her car and heads for the small seaside island of Creek Keys.
Theo a hot British single dad owns a few holiday homes on the island but he is not inclined to let one out to the famous vlogger who his daughter is obsessed with after all how do you explain a sex scandal to your child who thinks Elle is the best thing since sliced bread…..
This book has it all, I laughed out loud, I smiled a lot and I loved everything about Hot Mess. The characters are loveable, the chemistry is sizzling and the banter is hilarious add in a trio of older ladies who speak their, some classic one liners only a child can deliver and you get the perfect romantic comedy. Ms Hart certainly knows how to give her fans the perfect read n a time when we could all do with some lighthearted flirty fun. I highly recommend this great read.
Hot Mess by Emma Hart is a quirky, refreshing, funny , feisty romcom that has lots of fun , romance and humor. I loved me some Elle and Theo . This is a slowburn romance where the characters are not in love at first sight but where the chemistry is really there from the start. Elle is a vlogger who is running from a scandel and lands in a small town where Theo lives. Theo is a hot, single dad whose young daughter looks up to Elle. Theo ends up becoming Elle’s landlord and without giving more of the story away, their chemistry blossoms. Will Theo and Elle get their HEA? This story does a good job with getting messages out about social media; also loved Theo’s daughter and the cute relationship she had with Elle. This was a sweet, funny, feisty romcom romance that will touch your heart.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
Hot Mess is Emma Hart’s newest romcom. I know when I open one of her books that I am in for a fun, witty, and sexy ride. This one was more of the flirty side for good reason.
Elle had to get out of NYC before all hell broke loose with a sex tape she didn’t even know about. So, she drove and ended up on a small island in the Florida Keys. It was the perfect place for famous Lifestyle Vlogger who’s main fan base were children. She was hurt by her ex’s actions, she was more upset that her fans would be upset with her. She didn’t want to disappoint the children. They looked up to her even if in real life she made mistakes. She was a hot mess, after all. She didn’t even have a place to stay on the island. That was until a nosy waitress, a cute kid, and a hot British single dad gave her one. To rent. Next door. It was only suppose to be for a few days but things happen…
Theo didn’t want her here. He knew exactly who she was since his daughter was her number one fan. He also knew about the scandal that just hit. He didn’t know her. He didn’t want his daughter to be hurt if she wasn’t as nice off camera than she was on. And having a sex tape online wasn’t exactly giving her points. Then something happens. He gets to know her and he likes what he sees. The problem? He didn’t date. She didn’t live there. Even if he let Arielle and Elle be friends, it didn’t mean Ari wouldn’t be hurt when she went home. Was it worth the risk?
Aw!! This was such a fun book. It’s full of the best kind of characters. Clumsy. Flirty. Sweet. Sassy. Witty. Crazy. It was definitely what I needed today. A love story with lots of laughter, an adorable child, a grumpy Brit, and hot mess.
Quotes:
“That’s why you don’t paint and dance.” “Not that it stopped you, judging by those dad moves.”
She blushed again. “You watched me?”
“It was a little hard not to. It’s like those trainwrecks where you know it’s all going to go to shit, but you can’t stop watching.”
“Are there aliens on Mars?”
“No idea. Ask Aunt Elsie. She’ll know.”
“Dear God, what am I doing here?”
“Ah, you found God. You’ll need him for those teenage years.” I grinned again.
This is definitely a book you can read in one sitting. The only reason I didn’t finish it on the same day is because it was past midnight when I finally finished. I honestly think that this is one of the best Emma Hart romcoms that I’ve read in awhile. Lately they had been feeling kind of stagnant to me but this one felt fresh. Yes, it did have crazy hilarious octogenarians but they were only a small part of the book. Elle was a legit famous person who just wanted to hide from the bad that was done to her and figure out what to do about it. And Theo was a hot, British, single father who only wanted to protect his daughter so he didn’t like Elle on site. That could have made this book an enemies to lovers story but he quickly realized he was in the wrong and didn’t become someone she hated. The book also dealt with things like internet safety and I loved how Elle described it to Ari. Overall this book had a ton of laughs and some really sweet moments too. I would read it again!

Elle Evans life is a hot mess. She’s run away from her home, her family, her city. She manages to make her away all to the Florida Keys, a small town where she can hid away from the drama surrounding her life. What she doesn’t expect when she arrives is meeting a British single father and his adorable nine year old daughter.
Elle is a lifestyle vlogger. She is clumsy, quirky and an idol to so many young girls. Theo has a lot of walls in place. He loves his daughter and she has him wrapped around her fingers. He’s somewhat of a grump, but does warm up to people. He knows who Elle is because his daughter is obsessed with her videos, he knows why she is hiding out and judged her instantly. However, she is living in his rental.
I loved the connection between Elle and Ari (Theo’s daughter). Elle was so sweet to Ari and truly bonded with her. There were so many sweet moments between them. Theo and Elle had a slow burn, but I loved the banter between them and their chemistry.
Hot Mess is a hilarious rom com. It is super fun, sweet, and quick read.
If you love single dad romances, a tropical location, an adorable nine year old, and a crazy group of geriatric conspiracy theorists this is a MUST READ!
While Hot Mess started with a drama-filled and difficult subject (revenge porn sex tape), it truly was a light and easy read.
Elle is a lifestyle vlogger and when that sex tape goes live she jumps ship and drives as far away from NYC as she can get, ending up in the Florida Keys. There is where she meets single dad Theo and his daughter Arielle. Arielle is Elle’s biggest fan, but Theo…he’s not so sure about her.
Theo becomes Elle’s reluctant landlord and after a weird meeting on the beach with the CKCK (the crazy and cooky old ladies that Emma Hart is notorious for!) Elle and Theo strike up a sort of friendship.
Hot Mess is a slow burn with a sweet romance. It didn’t quite have that je ne sais quoi factor that I hoped for, but was an entertaining read nonetheless.
***4 Stars***
This was a fun, quick, heart warming read filled with a cast of unique/eccentric characters that I definitely wouldn’t mind spending a lot more time with, even if it meant having to bleach my eyes after to do it.
Elle and Theo were all kinds of fun. Elle is sweet, sassy, a little snarky and genuine, also a bit of a klutz, but it only made it that much easier to love her. Theo is a bit of a grump, but that’s only because he is so hellbent on putting his daughter first that he tends to forget to just be Theo.
Their journey to their HEA was a lot of fun. They start off rocky, but due to their close proximity, they find themselves spending a lot more time with each other than either expected and find that their initial impressions were not all that valid. I loved their bantering and flow and how much fun it was to just hang out with them and loved how everything worked out for them in the end.
This was simply a fun read. It was funny, but not totally OTT ~ okay there were moments, but they all made sense considering the participants were ~ and I liked the way social media was presented in the book in all its good, bad and ugly glory without glorifying any one part. And then there are the supporting cast of characters in the book. The CKCK crew were awesome! A little OTT, but awesome. Blair was hilarious, and I wouldn’t mind her as a BFF at all and Arielle was the perfect precocious nine year old, but Charity was my hands down fav of the bunch. So, if you’re looking for a fun single parent read with a lot of heart, then this is a much click for you!

Single father Theodore Dalton isn’t interested in dating because of his daughter Arielle … that is, until famous vlogger Elle Evans rents his beach house to hide and figure things out. What Theo doesn’t need is Ari getting attached to Elle, only for Elle to leave to go back to New York. The problem is that the more time Theo spends with the beautiful Elle, the more he likes her. Is it foolish for Theo to continue spending time with Elle?
Hot Mess is a funny, drama-filled and entertaining story full of lovable characters that you’ll read in one go
Hot Mess is an entertaining, refreshing, lighthearted read that was just what I needed!
It had wonderful characters, great conversations and beautiful friendships! I loved everything about it!
I loved the way Elle got away from the troubles in her life and stumbled upon the little town where Theo lives!
Appearances can be deceiving in an online persona but it only takes a short amount of time to really make an impression on someone you have just met!
It was wonderful in the way Theo and Elle get to know each other, especially with Arielle too and I loved every word penned in this book!
Hot Mess is the sort of story to take you away from reality for a while and come out if it feeling that all is right in the world!
Happy heart is a happy person! So flipping enjoyable!! A definite feel good read!
This book was hilarious – I loved Elle and Theo. The slow burn was KILLING me. But despite that I loved that it was not all love-at-first-sight and they spent time together before becoming something more.
I loved the way Elle fought to find a way to solve her problem. And I loved Theo when he realised that she was not a bad person and he just wanted to help her and to get back het self-esteem which took a hit by her ex leaking their tape.
The side characters made this book that more funny with all the antics that drove Theo crazy.
Once again I was rooted to my seat fully entertained by one of Hart books and I’m looking forward for the next one.
