I had read the books leading up to this one, and those were fun and a little crazy. This one was harder for me to get through for some reason.
love all of her books great writer
The story is quite sweet.
More sex than firefighting through the story though.
Continuity issues – Lucy had met Ward in the pub but when Savannah is telling her about the pregnancy and her relationship it is on the premise that they had never met ….
Didn’t like it. Didn’t finish it. I read maybe four chapters if that. All SEX no story. Not my cup of tea!!!
Hot Mess by J.H. Croix is a contemporary romance set in Alaska. Ms. Croix has delivered a well-written book. The characters in this story are amazing, I love them. Susannah is a hotshot firefighter in Alaska. Ward takes a job in Alaska as the supervisor of Susannah’s crew. The secret that they met in training is kept between the two of them. Until it’s not. Susannah and Ward’s story is full of drama, humor and sizzle. I enjoyed reading Hot Mess and look forward to reading more from J.H. Croix in the future. Hot Mess is book 4 of the Into The Fire Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Wow! A 5 star hot and steamy romance by Ms. Croix! She is one of my favorite authors and she never disappoints. Her stories are entertaining and so realistic.
Ms. Croix takes us back to the charming town of Willow Brook, Alaska, where one amazing night with Ward turns into a lifetime commitment for Susannah. Now, Susannah has to deal with her growing feelings for Ward and the fact that she is pregnant with his baby. Susannah is a tough, independent woman. After all, she is a hotshot firefighter. But can she let down her walls enough to let Ward in?
A standalone read with a HEA. HOT MESS is part of a series but it introduces new characters. The setting is Alaska. This should have been titled HOT SEX. There is lots and lots of hot sex so get a fan when you decide to read. Ward is the new supervisor for a fire fighting crew in Alaska. The issue is that one of the crew is a woman he went through training with. Their chemistry was off the charts 4 years ago and they both agreed a one night stand would be enough and they would never see each other again anyway.
They meet again and neither one has moved on from their one time. Before he assumes the job, and being her boss, they decided to have another go!! A month later when he takes over the job she has a big secret for him. This is a very entertaining read and I definitely recommend it. Lots of descriptions and facts on Alaska as well as cameos from characters in other books. You will not be lost as their stories are briefly explained. It is a good read.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 8/18/18
** spoiler alert ** Susannah is determined to not let a man hold her back. Ward struggles with the fact that he only ever had his mother to rely on. Four years ago, they shared one night, now he is her boss. Will Ward accept the surprise she has for him? Will Susannah open up her heart?
Definitely loved this second-chance boss romance. I loved the fact that Ward, the second he found out what was going on, he stepped up. I didn’t blame Susannah for being iffy with all the emotions rolling through her body, but was happy when she stopped putting up the walls. Great read and I love this series!
Hot Mess” Bk 4 of “Into The Fire” series. by JH Croix
Savannah and Ward have some important decisions to make when a night of scorching sex leads to an unexpected pregnancy. As JH Croix unwraps this true to life story the sentiment and intensity captures the emotions flowing from this couple as it draws you “Into the Fire”…
I received a complimentary copy and it’s always a pleasure to submit my honest review. Wonderful Heartwarming HEA. In my opinion JH Croix is exceptional never a disappointment.
I enjoyed this next book in the Into the Fire series. Our heroine, Susannah, and our Hero, Ward meet and have a one night stand at a training for hotshot firefighters. This book takes place four years later when Ward takes the Superintendent’s position in the Alaskan town where Susannah lives and works.Their relationship becomes complicated when they decide to have one more one night stand before Ward officially becomes her boss. We learn she’s pregnant fairly early in the book. The author proceeds to lead us through Susannah and Ward’s journey as they continue their sexual relationship in spite of the possible Boss/subordinate conflict, while trying to figure out how to handle the pregnancy.
Since the story is told from a dual POV, we can eavesdrop on Susannah’s fears of how to raise the child alone, her confusion of whether their relationship is based purely on sex or whether she wants there to be more. Likewise, Ward knows what he wants but isn’t sure how to convince Susannah he’s truly in, and not just because of the baby.
The author wrote Susannah as a strong and fearless woman who normally faces things straight on, but it’s fun to see her vulnerable side as her pregnancy plays havoc with her emotions and her sex drive! I really respected Ward for his patience in trying to find ways to show Susannah he’s the right guy for her without going “caveman” and forcing her into a decision about their relationship. She makes some really tough personal and professional decisions that I’m glad the author did not gloss over as it made this story more real, and their HEA more satisfying.
this is a good story, firefighters and the strong women that they fall in love with, veryinteristing
