This was the first contemporary romance that I have read from this author but have always loved her historical ones. This one was good but fairly predictable. I am happy that Long’s signature humor was abundant here, and I think I fell a little for the movie star hero with a heart of gold. His wedding toast alone is worth the read! The waitress/artist heroine was not one of my favorite leading ladies from her, but still a solidly good read!
Another great read from Ms. Long! I really loved this book – my only reason for four stars instead of five was that some of the secondary characters felt a bit more flat than in other books of hers I’ve read. But as always, the author does a great job of presenting real people, with real issues, and resolving everything in a believable and extremely satisfying way. Highly recommend this book!
Two lonely people with well-protected hearts learn to trust and love and open themselves to the possibility of forever with the person who makes them feel truly happy. Smart, sexy, funny, this book is everything a romance should be.
If you’re looking for a book with witty dialog, superbly well-developed characters, laugh out loud moments, and a lot of steam between the hero and heroine – then look no further. Ms. Long draws a wonderful portrait of small-town life and weaves the supporting cast in seamlessly. But the growing passion between Britt Langley and John Tennessee McCord grabs you by the lapels and pulls you into the story.
After his life implodes for all the world to see superstar John Tennessee McCord decides it’s time for a little R&R outside of the spotlight. He sets out on a journey of self discovery, which seems to be going well until his truck breaks down and leaves him momentarily stranded in the little town of Hellcat Canyon. So he heads to a little local cafe in search of help and maybe a meal and ends up discovering something far better… a gorgeous waitress named Britt Langley.
The minute Britt Langley sets her sights on her tall, dark, and handsome stranger that waltzes through the door of the cafe she knows he’s trouble… the good kind of trouble! But she’s not in the market for man, the one she just got rid of did enough damage to last a lifetime and she has no intentions of signing herself up for that again. After talking to J.T. she can tell that he is in need of saving, but she’s not so sure she is the woman for the job, she has enough of her own troubles that are constant lurking. But there is something about this smooth talking stranger that is wearing her resistance down, and causing her to reconsider a little roll in the hay…
This was my first read by this author and I have to say it made a pretty impressive first impression, and earned her a spot on my “go to” authors list. The minute I started this one I was hooked and dying for more, these two uniquely crafted characters pulled me into their world and commanded my attention. They completely won me over with their witty one liners, quirky southern charm, down to earth personalities, and passion filled heated banter. I highly recommend you give this read a try, it is one of those reads that will have you in tears one moment and laughing the next, and is certain to leave you with an overall feeling complete literary satisfaction!
