When a daredevil football stud tries to get into your yoga pants, you know class is about to get interesting. The New York Times bestselling author of Down & Dirty returns with Hot & Heavy. Sage: Although I come from a long line of free-spirited yoga teachers, sometimes I wish my life could be just a little more normal. More ordinary. More boring. Easier said than done, especially since … More boring. Easier said than done, especially since it’s on me to keep my family’s studio up and running every time my mother wanders off to find herself. But that’s when my best friend sends me a sexy new student: Shawn Wilson, a slick wide receiver with a death wish and a chip on his broad, muscular, irresistible . . . wait, what were we talking about again?
Shawn: They say I’m an adrenaline junkie. The truth is, I only really feel alive when I’m risking my life: Snowboarding, parachuting, BASE jumping . . . the kind of fun team management considers breach of contract. When my coach orders me to take yoga to “center myself,” I’m pissed—until I get an eyeful of delectable, flexible Sage Kaufmann. Unfortunately, she’s determined to keep things between us strictly business. But if Sage can get me to enjoy downward dog, maybe I can convince her that scorching hot sex could be the perfect shot of adrenaline.

Hot & Heavy is entertaining and witty with some chuckle-worthy moments. The story is interesting and definitely steamy. Shawn and Sage each have their own issues – he’s an adrenaline junkie and she’s determined to have stability and doesn’t like taking risks. It’s obvious where the angst in our romance is going to come from. Both characters are likable and it’s easy to root for them, except I never really felt the love between them. Their sexual chemistry is off the charts, and their first encounter is nothing short of scorching hot, but it takes more than falling all over each other to fall in love and I just never got that with this pair. In the end, the story is a fun read and the angst level isn’t crazy high, but I felt like it was missing that emotional connection.
I loved Shawn and Sage!! They were an amazing couple to read about.
My heart broke for Shawn. Here is this guy who to outsiders looks like he just likes to do stupid stuff when really the demons that he has within him have brought him to this point. I liked that when he found someone that became more important than that adrenaline rush, he was willing to re-look at his reckless behavior.
I really liked the character of Sage, I think I see a little of myself in her. I loved that she thrives mostly in a controlled environments but is willing to let herself go once and awhile. I loved that after her heartfelt conversation with her mother, she was willing to see herself differently and didn’t hold back anymore.
There are many parts of this book I liked but my favorite has to be the first time these two meet. The chemistry leapt from the pages.
A daredevil football player & a yoga instructor/accountant – not a combination you expect. The chemistry is intense & hot from the first moment they met! They both have to get past items from their past in order to be able to trust & move forward with each other. Hot sex scenes – not for anyone wanting it behind closed doors. Very enjoyable read.
3.75 stars–HOT AND HEAVY is the second instalment in Tracy Wolff’s contemporary, adult LIGHTNING erotic, romance series focusing on the NFL’s San Diego Lightning. This is professional football player Shawn Wilson, and yoga instructor/accountant Sage Kaufmann’s story line. HOT AND HEAVY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person points of view (Sage and Shawn) HOT AND HEAVY follows the building relationship between professional football player Shawn Wilson, and yoga instructor/accountant Sage Kaufmann. Shawn Wilson is an adrenaline junkie, trying to keep the demons at bay. A bar quickie with a mysterious stranger finds our hero pining for a woman he knows nothing about until his teammate’s fiancé recommends therapeutic yoga for all of his ailments. Enter Sage Kaufmann, Shawn’s one-night stand, and the woman with whom Shawn will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Shawn and Sage, and the potential fall-out as Shawn’s selfishness and his need for adrenaline forces Sage to walk away to save her sanity and a possible broken heart.
Twenty years earlier Shawn Wilson’s life spiralled out of control, and in the ensuing time, to bury his grief, Shawn embarks on dangerous and life-threatening endeavors to destroy the memories that claw at his soul. Sage Kaufmann has struggled throughout most of her life, following her hippie mother around the globe, in her attempts to find the next, best thing. On the verge of bankruptcy due to one of her mother’s ill-gotten schemes Sage accepts Shawn into her yoga studio in an effort to regain control of what was, and what could have been.
The relationship between Shawn and Sage begins as a one-night stand; essentially a hit it and run in the back of a bar but an encounter that remains at the forefront of our couple’s minds. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The colorful and dynamic secondary and supporting characters include Shawn’s teammates: star quarterback Hunter Browning and realtor Emerson Day; Tanner Green, and Clay Bruce; Hunter’s niece Lucy and nephew Brent; and Sage’s free-wheeling and impulsive yoga teaching mother.
HOT AND HEAVY is a fast paced and sexy story line of insta-lust, betrayal, memories and love. The premise is captivating and edgy ; the characters are flirty and sassy; the romance is provocative and arousing. HOT AND HEAVY is a delightful and engaging entry into Tracy Wolff’s LIGHTNING series.
Hot & Heavy’s title certainly delivers just that, oodles of hot and heavy not to mention sexy interactions between Sage & Shawn. I really like this couple and feel they were perfect for each other. Their chemistry was so off the charts that Sage finds herself doing something completely out of character the very first night she meets him, that is she does him in the back hallway of the bar. But it turns out to be the beginning of something great!
Really good story to go along with all the hotness though, which I do like in a romance.
Sage Kaufmann is not somewhat old-fashioned by choice; when you know her mother, you understand why. That’s why it was so out of character for her to succumb to the charms of this insanely gorgeous man in a bar. The “Hot Stuff”, Shaw Wilson, is not used to women not approaching him, which makes Sage all the more enticing; he has to work for her. Who knew that injuring himself while cliff diving in Mexico would lead him to Sage’s yoga studio, where things get very HOT & HEAVY.
Before the His Royal Highness duology, I had never read Tracy Wolff, and I liked those books so much, it was a no-brainer for me to see what else she could do. While the basic story for HOT & HEAVY offers nothing new, Ms. Wolff does a great job because the characters are interesting: Shawn is a man who lives on the edge but is not a jerk, and while Sage is completely under his sexual spell, so is he. As the title implies, HOT & HEAVY is just that: it’s a very steamy story, but with amazing dialogues, fabulous secondary characters: Sage’s mother (oy!) – and I cannot wait for Clay and Tanner’s stories! – and simply great storytelling, and there are also some very intense and emotional moments. HOT & HEAVY is a quick read, and the Lightning series promises to be good sexy fun.
I give 4 ½ stars
This is my first book by this author and I thought it was pretty good quick and easy read. It’s the second book in the series and I didn’t read the first one, but I had no problems following along. The title certainly lived up to its name because this started off with a bang between Sage and Shawn. It was like hello, nice to meetcha, let’s get it on, ‘kay?! Hallway in a bar style. All of their sexy times were pretty hot. Crazy sexual chemistry between these two crazy kids. I do want to check out the first book, it looks like it’s a good one.
Hot & Heavy (#2 Lightning) by Tracy Wolff .. this book was fun to read.. Sage (yoga instructor/bookkeeper) she has trust issues …mother caused.. Shawn (football star/risk taker) he has issues of guilt and loss due to his mother and sisters death) Thanks you #NetGalley for allowing me to preview this book. These two spark of each other from the first time they lock eyes… hot steamy sex, so many feelings and fears…wonderful friends..get them to their HEA.
Sage Kauffman, Accountant and yoga instructor.
Shawn Wilson, Professional Football Player for the San Diego Lightening.
Sage and Shawn met at a bar. Sage, visibly upset about something, runs off to the bathroom. Shawn concerned, follows to make sure she’s okay. When he catches her, and there is skin to skin contact, there was an electric energy that ran through, Shawn.
Due, to that energy, there’s some explosive activity there in an alcove of the back hallway of the bar. Will this encounter lead to something more, that both, Sage and Shawn neither one knew they wanted, or will it be a one and done kind of thing? Will, Sage and Shawn find their happy ever after, or will they continue to play the field, miserably?
4 Hot & Heavy Stars!

Hot & Heavy by Tracy Wolff, the second book in the Lightningseries, is definitely a hot read! This book was very enjoyable, it was entertaining and fast pace. Sage and Shawn will draw you in from page one, Wolff did an excellent job giving us two very compatible characters.
Shawn and Sage meet in an unconventional way, a single hook up, in a bar. It absolutely baffles Shawn that she didn’t want anything further, he is used to women falling all over him. Sage on the other hand was completely out of her element hooking up with Shawn, she likes simplicity and stability. Having to run her mothers yoga studio is all the unsteadiness and mess she needs in her life, she is not looking to complicate things with random hookups.
Things get complicated when Shawn comes knocking at her yoga studio door. There is no denying the chemistry, these two are fire! Both have to work through some personal issues, but Shawn is determined to make Sage his again. Things heat up rather quickly and despite all of Sages reservations she can’t seem to keep him at arm’s length. But sometimes sparks and chemistry just isn’t enough, when one of Shawn’s stunts chase Sage away, he needs to let go of some of his personal issues or loose the girl.
A well written story about two people with reservations, searching and learning on their journey to find love. Wolff gave us a witty, steamy, and emotional read. Definitely worth a chance! I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
Whoa! I’ve read a lot of books that have had some pretty hot and sexy couples in it, but OMG Shawn and Sage are absolutely off the charts, Shawn is a professional football player, Sage is a yoga instructor/accountant, both definitely have their demons from their past. They haphazardly meet in a bar when Sage is attending a bachelorette party, to say their first meeting was one of the hottest things I’ve read this week is an understatement, it’s a bit unexpected given you have just started the story, but it definitely sets the tone of the book. I loved the chemistry between these two, passionate, steamy, kind, sexy, and both with just enough doubt that it sets these two far apart with trying to figure things out with a new fast moving relationship.. Your heart goes out to both of them when you find out what their pasts were made up of, neither one of them wanting to share their story with each other, until the breaking point comes and things are forced upon them. Enjoyed the other characters in the story a lot, this is a humorous, emotional, very well written story that will leave you with a smile on your face at the end of it all. Very well worth the read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book
3 1/2 stars I did enjoy this, just not as much as the previous in the series. I was a bit skeptical that Shawn and Sage hadn’t met yet. They were “best friends” with Hunter and Emerson and their paths hadn’t crossed? Especially at what happened at the end of that book? Strange. Based on that hallway scene in the bar, Shawn and Sage clearly had AMAZING chemistry. I just wished for more communication and a bit less physical action. Also, I felt like the ending was abrupt. I was sad there was no epilogue. Overall an enjoyable swift read.
I received this book from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. This was my introduction to Tracy Wolff as an author. This book is a part of a series but it was not an issue to read as a standalone. Sage is a yoga instructor at her Mom’s studio. She is tasked with keeping the studio open and running as her flaky Mom takes off to find herself yet again. Shawn is a famous NFL player, who happens to be an adreneline junkie. He is often fined by his team for breach of contract due to his daredevil stunts. Both of them happen to be at the same bar one night and after a hot and steamy hook up in the back hallway Sage runs away. That is so not her style. She wants stability and a boring life. That’s why her real job is accounting. Shawn can’t believe a woman passed up getting his number and he has no way of knowing she doesn’t even know who he is. Due to a cliff diving shoulder injury his friend sends him to yoga to try to help it heal. Imagine their surprise when the instructor is Sage. The book is about these 2 very different characters trying to figure out if they have any chance at a relationship or just major chemistry.
The story is a fun, easy read. I enjoyed the characters and will be going back to check out the previous book for more background info. I liked the authors writing style and recommend this book. I will be looking for more by Tracy Wolff.
