Where there’s smoke, there’s fire… Since 9/11, Brooklyn firefighter Griff Muir has wrestled with impossible feelings for his best friend and partner at Ladder 181, Dante Anastagio. Unfortunately, Dante is strictly a ladies’ man, and the FDNY isn’t exactly gay-friendly. For ten years, Griff has hidden his heart in a half-life of public heroics and private anguish. Griff’s caution and Dante’s … caution and Dante’s cockiness make them an unbeatable team. To protect his buddy, there’s nothing Griff wouldn’t do… until a nearly bankrupt Dante proposes the worst possible solution: HotHead.com, a gay porn website where uniformed hunks get down and dirty. And Dante wants them to appear there–together. Griff may have to guard his heart and live out his darkest fantasies on camera. Can he rescue the man he loves without wrecking their careers, their families, or their friendship?

I was recommended this book by a friend who I will now be going to for all my Male/male reading recs. I’d never read Damon Suede before but this book hooked me from the get go. The premise is original. The relationship between the two men is solid and steady. The heat is palpable. And my heart just about broke every time Griff gave Dante a little more of himself only to fear it wouldn’t be accepted. I love this book and its one of my go to rereads and not just for the super ridiculously over the top sexy porn star scenes.
I loved this book so much, as soon as I was done, I wanted to reread it. The characters are believable, the romance was both hot and romantic, and the secondary characters were fleshed out well. Definitely a desert-island-keeper!
This book tied me nicely in knots. Just how to start and where to begin when you love a story this much? Okay. We have a Scottish-American teen Griff Muir that is unofficially adopted into an Italian-American Anastagio family. Two of the friends become firefighters that survive September 11. The cataclysmic events of that day play up the realization for Griff that Dante Anastagio is so much more to him than a mere friend. But Dante is a lady’s man and up to his eyeballs in debt. Dante makes a decision to earn money by working for a gay porn website and takes his friend Griff along for the ride. And what a ride it is! I have to admit it – I was delighted for Griff. Damn!
Holy Hot Heads!!!
An emotionally charged read that will have you rooting for this adorable couple. Griff & Dante are just too cute for words.
5 SIZZLING ‘S
This has officially taken one of the coveted spots on my top ten favourite books of all time. I loved it so much that the moment I finished it, I started to read it again. Damon Suede’s prose is beautiful, so magical it seems to lift off the page. I loved Griff and Dante. They were so dissimilar but utterly captivated by each other, just as I was with their romance.
This novel’s ‘voice’ is unique, to the point I feel like I have New York under my fingernails and haunting my mind. The timeline is ten years after 9/11, and both guys are firefighters, and were early on scene a decade ago in addition to being lifelong friends. It is all from one point of view, which means we don’t know wtf Dante is thinking, any more than Griff does. I loved it. There are bits that are a little too cute, but the vast majority is fantastic, and yes you should read it, too. I borrowed it from my library (digitally, Kindle edition, so thanks too to Amazon), which is wonderful because it still helps the author, and fits my non-existent current budget. I’ll buy it when I can, I liked it that much.
This is one of the hottest MM books out there!
Firefighter friends Griffin and Dante are a team, but Grif has a secret. He’s not straight and he has feelingsfor his friend.
When Dante needs money and proposes that Grif joins him to shoot a steamy, hands on, man on man action to help him earn money, Griff doesn’t know if he should thank the gods above or curse them.
I wanted to read this book because I’ve seen it recommended a lot. I thought it was okay, and I did like the premise: two firefighters, who’ve been childhood friends, explore their attraction towards each other and find love. There were a lot of sweet moments and some really hot and steamy sexy, but the characterization and some plot points just fell flat for me. I also wasn’t a fan of the author’s writing style. The way he described certain body parts felt a little cringey. For example, he kept comparing one of the main character’s lips to medium rare steak. Overall, not a bad book, but it wasn’t great.
Charlie David, the narrator, did a very enthusiastic job with his narration. He put a lot emphasis on the sound effects which made for a dynamic performance, although sometimes the sound effects detracted a little from the narration. Overall, I enjoyed Charlie’s voice and narration.
