The NHL’s biggest bad boy is about to fall for the virgin next door…I am the world’s biggest dating failure. We’re talking my last date went home with our waitress kind of failure. But I have an ace in the back pocket of my mom jeans—my sexy-as-sin best friend, NHL superstar forward, Justin Cruise.Justin owes me favors dating back to seventh grade, long before he became a hotshot with a world … famous…stick. So in return for my undying platonic loyalty, all I want is an easy-peasy crash course on how to be a sex goddess. How hard can it be?***I have never been so hard in my life. The things I want to do to my sweet, kindergarten-teaching, mitten-crocheting best friend Libby Collins are ten different kinds of wrong. Maybe twenty. But I’m a firm believer in teaching by example, and by the end of our first lesson, we’ve graduated to a hands on approach to her sexual education: my hands all over her, her hands all over me, and her hot mouth melting beneath mine as I prove to her there isn’t a damned thing wrong with the way she kisses.Give me a month, and I’ll transform Libby from wall flower to wall banger, and ensure she’s confident enough to seduce any guy she wants.Problem is… the only guy I want her seducing is me.Hot as Puck is a sexy, flirty, friends-to-lovers Standalone romantic comedy from USA Today Bestseller Lili Valente. Keywords: hockey romance, virgin romance, lessons in seduction, new adult, new adult romance, sports romance, sports, friends to lovers, opposites attract romance, opposites attract, workplace, humor, comedy, romance, contemporary, alpha male, love, career, bad boy, family, fiction, forbidden, forbidden romance, romantic comedy, roommates, roomie, roomies, best friends to lovers romance, contemporary romance, best friends in romance, brothers, athletes, rom com, hilarious, romance series, romance books, beach reads, funny, stories, sensual, sensual romance, hot guy, sexy, heartwarming, heart-warming, kissing books, romance series, long series, long romance series, wealthy hero, wealthy heroes, sports romance, Lili Valente, L. 5/5
I’ve only read one other Lili Valente book and it was written with Pippa Grant who I love. I’ve been on a hockey kick recently so decided to dive into this series. Hot as Puck was fun and sweet and sexy. I enjoy the friends-t0-lovers trope and Hot as Puck did it well. This quick listen had a great premise and I already like the glimpse I got of the team and stories I hope to see int he future.
Sexy and charming!
Justin and Libby are lifelong friends, one becoming a pro hockey sex god, the other a kindergarten teacher. They have maintained their best friend status through all the changes in their lives, but can they sustain it after the virginal Libby asks Justin for sex tips?
I loved this book! I found both characters very charming and likable and I was rooting for them the whole book!
Story about enemies to lovers or friends to lovers are not usually my favorite story line, too much angst in general.
But here, there are very few, as usual because of those around the main characters.
Justin can appear as the average wealthy successful guy, a jerk with the women in his bed, but he is just unsatisfied with his private life, aware it misses something.
Libby is a lovely woman eaten by her uncertainties and low self-esteem regarding the dating market.
Both have been friends since childhood and never thought nor expected more until Libby opens a door on the unknown.
I liked the chemistry between them, they are fun, kind, ready to defend the others but also so unsure about them together. The storyline is set on a short timeline, from the weirdest demand Libby could have asked to their HEA, but it was intense, full of steamy moments and so sweet.
Who doesn’t love an NHL hockey player?! This is a lovely friends to lovers story. Confident, sexy hockey player and demure, innocent kindergarten teacher.
Great story line that kept me interested throughout. Just enough sports, love and quirky moments to keep my emotions in play. The feelings from the characters were great and didnt feel forced, and thoughts were every day ones that made the book more relatable.
Well written 🙂
Not my favorite story. I wondered if the author ‘s first language is not english.
When kindergarten teacher Libby decides she needs some lessons on how to date and be sexy, it only makes sense for her to turn to her long time friend and professional hockey player Justin. She’s got it bad for the vice principal at her school and wants help figuring out how to catch his attention. But when lessons turn into hands on lessons, Justin realizes that the only person he wants Libby’s attention on is him…
All in all, I thought Hot as Puck was… fine. It was short, so I finished it relatively quickly, but I was never fully engaged in it. It checked all the basic boxes for friends-to-lovers and sports romance, but nothing about it struck me as different and unique enough for it to stand out among all the other books that fit into those categories. I liked that Justin crocheted and knitted, something that Libby taught him when they were younger. It gave otherwise pretty flat characters just a little something to make them a bit more memorable. Hot as Puck followed exactly the plot you’d expect from a “friend gives romance lessons so other friend can go after the man of their dreams” storyline and it wasn’t nearly as funny as I’d expected from a romantic comedy. There was nothing wrong with the book, there just wasn’t anything great about it either.
But there was one thing that drove me absolutely insane. All the characters had super simplistic nicknames even though they all had relatively simple names to begin with. (Why must there ALWAYS be nicknames?!) Libby was Libs. Laura was La. And Justin was… Jus. Which made me cringe every.single.time I read it. Partially because I have never ever heard someone use Jus as a nickname for Justin, but mostly because in French, jus means juice. So I pronounced it as “joo” in my head and thought of juice every single time I read someone call him that.
I’ve loved other books by Lili Valente, so at some point, I’ll probably give the next book in this series a shot, but I’m not running to pick up it immediately.
Just a good feeling book…. doesn’t disappoint when it comes to happily ever after!
Another enjoyable read by this author!
Enjoyable
