It’s not every day that a beautiful naked woman falls out of the sky and lands face-first on grizzly shifter Berg Dunn’s hotel balcony. Definitely they don’t usually hop up and demand his best gun. Berg gives the lady a grizzly-sized t-shirt and his cell phone, too, just on style points. And then she’s gone, taking his XXXL heart with her. By the time he figures out she’s a honey badger shifter, … shifter, it’s too late.
Honey badgers are survivors. Brutal, vicious, ill-tempered survivors. Or maybe Charlie Taylor-MacKilligan is just pissed that her useless father is trying to get them all killed again, and won’t even tell her how. Protecting her little sisters has always been her job, and she’s not about to let some pesky giant grizzly protection specialist with a network of every shifter in Manhattan get in her way. Wait. He’s trying to help? Why would he want to do that? He’s cute enough that she just might let him tag along—that is, if he can keep up . . .

Shelly Laurenston has always been a fabulous writer in my opinion and “Hot and Badgered” proves it once again. Her females are strong, snarky, and with a take no prisoners attitude. They give as good as they get and their men love them just the way they are. If you want a great story with snarky whit, lots of humor, kick a*s women, and Hot, Hot, Hot men (shifters!) grab any of Shelly’s books get get comfortable ‘cuz you won’t be able to put the book down until you’ve read it to the end!
Another absolutely amazing book in the shifters series’ by Shelly Laurenston. Cannot get enough of these books!
Love love love this book Shelley Laurenton has done it again. It’s funny and steamy and top crazy for words
The first book in the Honey Badger Chronicles which takes place in the Pride Stories world will keep you in stitches with a fun filled and action packed romantic adventure.
As usual Shelly Laurenston provides such a fun read that I just can put the book down until I have wrung every last chuckle from every page. The zany and wonderful characters of her shifter worlds are always strong, compelling and full of snark while they tie readers in knots with laughter, they always make it easy for the readers relate to and become captivated by each and every one. So, needless to say Charlie and Berg stole the show in Hot and Badgered with their sizzling but prickly chemistry as they entertained readers with their quick witted dialogue and funtabulous but dangerous attitudes but don’t think that’s all these characters are about because they also some deep seated emotional issues that while they add to the fun also add depth to their personalities and captivate readers.
The fast paced and super charged plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with lots of thills and intrigue and there is no predicting what will happen next. There are several action filled events that gets the adrenaline pumping but also provide some chuckles and since there is lots of hated family members and plenty of enemies, there is never a dull moment to be found in this electrifying story.
I have been waiting very impatiently for this story to be released as I love Shelly Laurenston’s books (p.s. I also love her alter ego – G.A. Aiken’s stories as well) and let me tell you that I was quite pleased with Hot and Badgered, she introduces new characters to her fascinating world and maintains her diabolical use of snark and fun to keep readers thoroughly entertained and I can’t wait to read the next one.
Hot and Badgered by Shelly Laurenston is book One in The Honey Badgers series. This is the story of Berg Dunn and Charlie Taylor-MacKilligan.
Charlie is the oldest of her sisters and very protective of them which sometimes lead from one thing to another happening to them. Berg steps in to help Charlie during one of these times.
This book does have a few other characters that were really enjoyable. Overall this was a great read and I will be looking for more books by Ms. Laurenston.
When Charlie landed on Bergs balcony and he helped her he never thought he would see her again but sure enough he did and her crazy sisters too. Charlie, Max and Stevie share a bond they are half sisters and honey badgers of course each is mixed with another shifter which really makes the story interesting. When Charlie and Max try to check up on Stevie in the institution she checked herself in they won’t let them see her because someone in the institution is trying to kidnap her. Barely making it out of there the girls meet up with Bergs and his family who are a group of bears, Bergs is crazy attracted to Charlie but the situations that the girls get into are scary and funny but the underlying story here is that you would do anything for your family even if you have to kill.

My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I will own this in paperback too!
This book is the first in a new series, and it is definitely for adults only due to the violence and adult content. I should to any who do not like swearing that there is lots of it in this book, but I love how she does it with quirky humor-galore! I need to go back and re-read all her books that I read before I started reviewing because Shelly’s books have an awesome humor paired with the chaos that is just hysterical! I own most of her books in paperback.
Honey badgers and hybrids and all the chaotic uniqueness that goes with them makes this an awesome story that had me laughing throughout. The sisters (Charlie, Max, and Stevie) are so much deadly fun that you can’t help but love them. The triplets (Berg, Dag, and Britta) are pretty awesome too with how they handle everything. Berg and Charlie fit, and I loved this adventure into their story. I definitely hope to see more of this family because they rocked with their dysfunction.
I highly recommend to any shifter fan who likes the violent and unpredictable behavior of all of Shelly’s shifters mixed with her snarky and awesome humor! I can’t wait for more!
Humor and the unexpected. Charlie and her sisters believe they are cursed and all because of their father. They are part of a big family, but not, because the family doesn’t acknowledge them. Someone is trying to kill her and her middle sister and kidnap her baby sister. Can they figure out who and stop them? Where can they stay safe until they figure it out?
Berg understands family. He lives and works with his brother and sister and they’re triplets. He meets Charlie and wants to help her but in order to do that, he has to accept her sisters too. Somehow he convinces Charlie that he has the perfect place for her to stay to hide out from the people after her and her sisters. Together they set out to solve the problem and in the process Berg hopes to get Charlie to take a chance on him.
There’s appearances from some of my favorites from previous books and twists and turns that make for a great read.
I read Shelly Laurenston’s books when I need a pick me up, a mood lightener, or just some all around fun. Hot and Badgered follows the winning recipe that is true to all of Ms. Laurenston’s books–a dash of outrageous characters, a pinch of ridiculous situations, and a big whopping cup full of fun, fun, fun. Charlie MacKilligan is the oldest Honey Badger sister. She handles things, seriously dangerous, out of control things for her psycho sister Max, and her spastic, basket case, genius of a little sister Stevie. With a loser father that always drags the girls into dangerous situations, the sisters are tough, take no crap, honey badgers that should stike fear into the hearts of everyone they meet. Their father’s latest scheme has the girls seeking help from bears and staying in bear suburbia. Living in the bear neighborhood provides the sisters with a normalcy they have never known as shifters. Charlie is totally crushing on grizzly shifter Berg. Berg might be perfect considering his acceptance of all Charlie’s baggage and as a reader you want to see their HEA happen. The MacKilligan family’s craziness keeps the pages turning just to see what will happen next. The book put a silly grin on my face from page one and I was still grinning and giggling at the end for one of the most fun reads ever. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
Oh man, I’ve been looking forward to this book and it doesn’t disappoint. As usual it’s action packed from start to end with lots of humor and snark.
These badger hybrids kick some serious butt. Pair that with easily startled bears and you have a page turner you can’t put down.
I absolutely loved this book! I read it in one sitting. Now I have to reread all her books to deal with a serious book hangover.I can’t wait until the next book.
I highly recommend this book as well as the authors other books. You will love them!!
OMFG this book was hysterical! I love a good PNR story interwoven with fun, and this had it in spades!!! I loved seeing the gruesome threesome as kids and how they manipulated those around them, ensuring they were taken care of by a pack that essentially would have ostracised them.
When the main story starts we find our trio of hard hitting, slightly psychotic sisters are on the loose again! Charlie is left running for her life in her birthday suit when she runs into Berg’s room. He is protecting a music prodigy at the time but is distracted by this shapely shifter! After giving her some clothing she runs off and Berg is resigned to never seeing her again.
But fate has finished with Charlie and Berg. After a mad dash across Europe which included shoehorning their baby sister from her break in a mental health facility, Charlie and Max are still covering their asses from however is after them…again. Cos this is not the first time the girls have been in trouble and usually their father is behind it!
Berg and his triplets end up being involved in the drama which follows the McKilligan girls and as the story progresses Berg realises that Charlie is the one for him, but with her so stressed and distracted protecting Stevie, can he get her to realise the same?
What a fantastic rampage! With a family that defines dysfunctional..they are not above clotheslining each other! Brings a whole new meaning to sibling relationships. But if you go against one sister, the other two will rip your face off! I loves that even though they are technically half-sisters, these girls are superglued together. Berg, Dag and Brita are kind of the same, less the bloody thirstyness! I was a bit put out that once again the Scots were the bad guys, but all is fogiven cos this book is stonkingly good!!!
Hot and Badgered by Shelly Laurenston
The Honey Badgers #1
I loved the first chapter of this book and thought that it had so much potential. I even liked the first part of chapter two where Berg meets Charlie but from that point on the story, to me, became rather chaotic. There were so many names that even writing them down to keep track didn’t help much and there were so many things taking place it felt like everything but the kitchen sink had been thrown in. The sisters seemed so close in chapter one and also very together for children but they did not carry that through as adults.
So, the story is about three “sisters” with honey badger blood. They are not all from the same mother and father but are raised together. We are introduced to them when they show up on their grandfather’s doorstep at ages 8, 11 and 12 and then we don’t see them again till they are full grown and in action mode. There is someone out to get them, people to thwart, fights at the drop of a hat, mental institutions, panic attacks, personal attacks, a bit of romance, shapeshifting, heists, robbing, family unknown unearthed, chases, killing, maiming and more. I think the main thing is that I just could not relate to many if any of the characters.
I think this is a series that is not my cup of tea but I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington Books for the ARC – This is my honest review.
2-3 Stars
***5 ‘Stray-Dog This’ Stars***
Two things before I start the review: 1) This is the first time I’ve read anything to do with this world, not the first time I’ve read the author because I’ve gone down the rabbit hole with The Call of Crows & Dragon Kin Series (G.A. Aiken) and loved every second. 2) I know that these books are under the PNR umbrella, but I tend to view them as more UF with some romance.
So with that out of the way….
OMG SO. MUCH. CRAZY. GOODNESS!!
Am I kicking my own ass for not diving into this world when my bookwhorebestie told me to?
Yes.
But, I’m all about making more room in my comfy little rabbit hole for this world.
I adored Berg and Charlie. It was hard not to adore them. While they have different boiling/I’m going to lose my shit points, they’re amazingly calm and logical and when it comes to their siblings they are all in. They will do anything for them, even if it means giving them a good smack upside the head…or more (it’s all situational and the recipients of such treatment typically deserve it), but they just flowed well with each other and worked in the end.
But what I really enjoed were the characters as a whole. They are all so unique with their own quirks and psychosis’ that the need to get to know them better and see what they do next becomes an addiction because you KNOW something else will happen, it’s just a matter of when. There are many OTT moments that had me not only laughing out loud (and sometimes snort/laughing) but rolling my eyes because there was just no way to stop it from happening.
A lot went down in this one and as only one situation was resolved there is much more to come from the honey badgers and I for one cannot wait to see how everything unfolds. I loved Mia and Stevie, Charlie’s sisters, and am quite curious to see who will be ‘man’ enough to take on these two, as well as how they deal with those they call family and friends!

ARC – I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
I love, love the MacKilligan sisters.
They crack me up.
Stevie is totally Kyle # 2. That is why they get along so well.
( They do not understand their geniuses! )
Max is Olivia # 2. However, Olivia will definitely claw me for saying that.
Charlie, sweet Charlie, until you threaten her sisters. Then watch out!
( Just ask Dee Ann )
I hope that Max + Stevie get their own books.
I can’t wait to meet their mates.
I loved the storytelling + the characters
The storytelling + the character’s build were awesome!
