“Deliciously sexy, emotionally gripping… Hostage rocked my whole world.”~Marni Mann, author of SIGNEDI’d never even kissed a boy the night I met Stone. The night I saw him kill. The night he spared my life. That was only the beginning. He turns up in my car again and again, dangerous and full of raw power. “Drive,” he tells me, and I have no choice. He’s a criminal with burning green eyes, … He’s a criminal with burning green eyes, invading my life and my dreams.
The police say he’s dangerously obsessed with me, but I’m the one who can’t stop thinking about him. Maybe it’s wrong to let him touch me. Maybe it’s wrong to touch him back.
Maybe these twisted dates need to stop. Except he feels like the only real thing in my world of designer labels and mansions.
So I drive us under threat, until it’s hard to remember I don’t want to be there.
Until it’s too late to turn back.

This book is edgy, and sexy and all the things a good dark romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
Stone certainly learns a lot in this book and understands so much more than he ever thought possible. Join the crew and listen to this book. It is an amazing ride that you won’t want to end.
I absolutely loved everything about this story, start to finish. Hostage is book two in the Criminals and Captives series, although interestingly enough when it starts it actually takes place before book one and then it takes place almost in tandem to book one, but from Stone’s perspective and experience. I imagine it could be read as a standalone, although I definitely appreciated having read Prisoner first.
Let me start by saying I was not at all a fan of Stone in Prisoner. I absolutely despised him. He was horrible to Abby, and his harshness to her raised red flags for me. His hardness and rough exterior was the very essence of his character in Hostage as well, but Hostage delves so much further into why he is that way and the fierce loyalty and protectiveness he has to his brothers, ultimately showing a vulnerability and devotion that was maybe not present and appreciated before now.
I adored Stone and Brooke’s story from the start. I loved that she seemed to have something that he craved on a more basic level, something that he knew might help heal him and make him whole. I love that while he had this mission to take down these horrible men responsible for his traumatic past, he also couldn’t leave her alone.
Prisoner and Hostage are the only kidnapping books I have read, but let me tell you, they have certainly opened my eyes to exploring a new trope I have not considered before, especially since the authors did such a great job with these two books and the intricate story line and this complex set of characters. I would absolutely love to read more by this dynamic duo of authors if the other brothers get books in this series.
I was captivated from the first chapter and I could not stop until the end. Stone is a hardened criminal. He can kill and not think about it again. But there is so much more to him. Brooke is a debutante, who has never seen the darker side when she is kidnapped by Stone. Like Brooke, I love my bad boys. Stone is obsessed with Brooke, but Brooke has feelings for Stone too. He saved her life numerous times because he was always watching. This is not Stockholm Syndrome, there is more depth to Stone than what meets the eye. As Stone’s past was uncovered, I fell hard for him. So did Brooke. This was a twist on a typical captured girl, and I loved every word.
Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet are an amazing narrating team. Mr. Morgan is the perfect voice to bring those bad boys to life. He has a voice that created the character I imagined Stone to be. Ms. Sweet brought out the innocence of Brooke, yet was able to show how strong she really was. I loved everything about this narration. It was so easy to get lost in the narration and feel like I was a part of the story.
A dark read!
She’d never even kissed a boy the night she met him…
The night she saw him kill…
The night he spared her life…
That was only the beginning…
Oh. My. God. Mind BLOWN. This book literally held me hostage for the entirety of this novel. This – THIS – right here is pure brilliance. I honestly I’m going to start comparing novels to this book and I don’t think those novels are going to measure up to this book – I’m calling that right now. They are not giving going to compare because this book is in its league of its own.
I’m so blown away by this book – wow. I really need more of this couple. ASAP. Like seriously, I am in a true bookworm hangover. I don’t think I can even start a new book – I don’t want to leave this world – not right now.
Dark, sexy and addicting. So gripping and enchanting. These two authors are a powerhouse together!
Full of criminals, darkness, light, secrets, good and bad guys and love.
Perfect for readers of dark romances.

The perfect narrators were chosen for this book/series. So deliciously dark and delightful listen.
Hostage is a dark romance that is memorizing and dripping with passion! Stone and Brooke have a chemistry that makes you feel like the dark is worth risking it all for! A page turning, dark and passionate story about love!
Having read Prisoner it was a given that I move on to Stone’s story. It’s gripping, and emotionally addictive. Where Grayson and Abbys story was straight forward. Stone and Brooke’s spans time, with an age gap romance.
Jacob & Lauren again we’re perfect narrators for this story.

This was gritty, and ugly at times, yet Stone and Brooke continued to amaze me with their earnestness and how true to themselves they stayed. They were strong, even when overpowered and things went against them, even the other person. Stone will never be the good guy, and Brooke will always be the good girl, but in each other, they get to be true to who they really are. They need that other half to be whole, and it takes them this story to figure that out – I was just along for the ride!
Hostage is the 2nd book in the Criminals and Captives series and I was hooked from start to finish. The story spans a few years but the tale that unfolds was a thrilling suspense with enough tension to keep me at the edge of my seat. The characters were so different yet so perfect for each other, you could easily feel the intense chemistry between them. They were well-developed complex individuals you will be rooting for throughout the story. This was an engaging story and I loved it. I would highly recommend it to all lovers of forbidden romances.
The audiobook version was narrated by Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet. These two were perfect choices for this role and did an excellent job with the characters giving them all their own voices and personality. I enjoyed listening to them narrate this story.

So initially I had mixed feelings reading it. Due to darker subject, I loved it and assure you that you will also enjoy it. I loved Stone and Brooke so much. I loved how they come from opposite sides of the world. Also the fact that Stone comes with a past and darker alpha side, while Brooke comes innocent and full of life that she has no idea that life can be darker too.
I loved the writing style of Annika Martin and Skye Warren. I also loved that they brought story close to reality for some people. Definitely worth reading it and listening it (if you haven’t yet). Also worth way more than 5************
Sensitive, harsh, refined, crude, hatred, love. Dark, dangerous and its HOT…
After reading PRISONER I wanted more. I even wrote Ms. Warren and asked about a sequel. Well, the authors did a great job. This book is fast paced, well written, more-than-intriguing and HOT.
Brooke is at her sweet sixteen birthday party pretending to enjoy it. Her life is a sham but at her social strata all of this is expected. She gets away only to overhear a man beating up another man. Naively she thinks she can stop it and steps out of the shadows. Stone (in his twenties) has lived a very hard life and he’s not about to let this little girl get in his way. He takes her hostage along with the man who’s near death.
O.M.G. Could a book be more thrilling and outrageously crude? I don’t want to give away anything so please read it. So worth it. There is a story within a story. What you need to ask yourself: Who is the hostage? Why does Stone live the way he does? Why does Stone have so much hate inside? All answers are revealed by the HEA. If you haven’t read PRISONER, you should. It’s Grayson’s story.
Please Ms. Warren and Ms. Martin write about some of the other “boys.” I’ve waited since 2014 for this book but I don’t want it to end.
I couldn’t put this story down and read it in one sitting. It’s well written, with a good storyline. Bad boys who were abused as children get justice in this book, and save other young victims as well, but it’s a violent journey and a battle against powerful men. Add in a good love story, and a nice HEA for a really good read.

Hostage (Criminals & Captives, Book 2) is a psychological mysterious thriller told in dual pov. I actually loved this one even more than book one and I absolutely loved book one. I wish their would be more books written. Dark sliver, criminal activity,
kidnapping, murder, spanning over years of time, mysterious person known as “keeper”, all encompassing a addictive storyline plot. Character’s are remarkable., making it so I wish their would be more books written about the other supporting character’s. The intricately weaved plot twists are spine-tingling. I absolutely loved the epilogue.
Jacob Morgan, Lauren Sweet’s dual naration was perfect. Absolutely loved it. Jacob Morgan’s inflection is intoxicating..
Lauren is good to. You get the feel like you are watching their lives play out right in front of you. Jacob Morgan has a ability to pull you in and hypnotize you to not be able to put the audio on pause. Jacob Morgan tower’s above and takes the stage.
Absolutely love the narrative and naration.

I thought this one was ok, still a decent read though. I’m glad there were a few surprises along the way, that made me not guess right every time. I just think Brooke and Stone’s relationship was kind of unbelievable.
Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet did a great job narrating.
I received this book from a giveaway and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I loved, loved, loved this audiobook. If I could give a book more than 5 stars, this would be it. The second in the series, and just so you know, book 1 was equally as good. Both books can be read as standalones, time wise they run alongside each other somewhat. When Brooke witnesses Stone brutally attacking an associate of her father at her 16th birthday party, Stone is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure she isn’t able to identify him. What he doesn’t expect is to develop feelings for his hostage. Brooke is sweet, innocent and desperate for love, but with a family only interested in social standing, she doesn’t particularly get the love and attention she craves. Don’t get me wrong, her parents love her, they just want her to be something she’s not. After she is taken by Stone, who she fears, but is unmistakably drawn to, she finds in him, someone she can depend on and trust. A brilliant story, continuing and concluding the drama from Prisoner. Great writing and characters, the narration was spot on, I just love Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet and they nailed the characters perfectly. As a side note, I didn’t particularly like Stone in book 1 (he was cruel to Abby), he did however redeem himself in book 2 (he was so sweet with Brooke). Highly recommend.

If you could pick the perfect kind of listen for me, this would be it. Skye Warren and Annika Martin’s collaborative series has me riveted to my ears, listening to this book. This story features Stone, one of the older boys in our Criminals and Captives series. When I started this listen, I figured it was going to be the typical bad guy captures girl and with a little Stockholm Syndrome, we would have the story. Boy was I wrong. Stone is a very complex man. Experiencing his childhood, what he endured, what he took on as his responsibility would mess anyone up. But somehow, this young man has a tender spot, and Brooke is the one that finds it. A chance meeting I would call it finds these two together, and from that point on, a slight obsession/loving relationship is formed over several years. The story behind them, and how it evolves is a masterpiece of thrilling suspense and had me up listening to the very end. I loved every minute of this story, it’s depth, it characters, and the captivating tension all led me through and kept me on the edge. I just hope we see more by these two!
Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet are suited perfectly for this story. Morgan has an edginess for book like this, a little dark and a lot of suspense and his voice seems to meld to the characters. Sweet’s young sound as Brooke made her. She brought the innocence out, but kept her real. I loved this team and this listen.

This is a dark, steamy older male, younger girl romance. It revolves around the kidnapping of Brooke. but also the kidnapping and abuse of boys who escaped their prison but vowed revenge to kill whoever was involved . It was Brooke’s sweet 16 birthday party. All she wanted to do, was get away from the false pretense, her mom made her portray. It was there , in the back alley of the hotel, she witnessed a murder. That led her to be kidnapped. She was terrified he would kill her, but he let her go instead.
Stone was obsessed with her, as much as she was with him. He would show up and kidnap her again, just so he could see her, touch her. Stone doesn’t do relationships, but Brooke’s innocence and belief in him, had him returning to kidnap her again and again. This story is very intense, full of mystery, lies violence, truth, trust, fear, sex and love.
Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet tells the story with such emotion. Both are outstanding narrators. They bring the angst, raw emotion and personality to each character.

Hostage
Series: Criminals & Captives, Book 2
By: Skye Warren, Annika Martin
Narrated by: Jacob Morgan, Lauren Sweet
I loved everything about this book from the authors’ terrific writing style to the characters and storylines they created and the amazing job the narrators did with and for the story. This is the type of book that is hard to put down, it grabs your attention right from the start and holds it captive to the very end. The characters are complex and well developed, Brooke, a naive teenager who lives with parents who are all about appearances. While taking a breather from her sweet sixteen party she stumbles upon a man getting brutally beaten. Brooke thinking she should save the guy winds up being taken hostage by the guy dong the beating. Stone, which we find out later is on a mission, a fact finding one the end result will be vengeance. He will do what he has to do to accomplish this including beating the info he is looking for out of someone. And he’ll stop anyone who gets in his way, even a naive innocent girl named Brooke. Only thing he couldn’t do it instead he holds threats over her so she would keep her mouth shut. This story completely wowed me and blew me away. I felt for Stone and admired his drive and determination, as well as his dedication to his brothers, the boys from the basement. He was a hardened individual who has a soft spot for Brooke. Brooke was in over her head with Stone but I admired her for standing up to him and for also seeing him, really seeing him. She seems mature beyond her years at times. This book is well plotted, there is never a dull moment, there is drama, angst, some twists, thrilling suspense and a slow burn dark romance. Thank you Skye Warren & Annika Martin for this terrific story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet are fantastic narrators and voice artists. They brought the characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality. Their portrayal of the characters was spot on, from Jacob’s alpha Stone to Lauren’s naive innocence to her strength. You could hear how much heart they put into their performance, they captured the characters emotions, attitude and passion which could be heard in their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this terrific listen.
