The world’s sexiest firefighter is about to get a second chance with the virgin next door… virgin gamer geek suddenly in charge of running my sister’s sex toy factory. Too bad both are written in my stars.
Yeah, I’m the world’s oldest virgin code-writing nerd.
And he’s the world’s hottest firefighter.
And even though he intimidates the heck out of me, I can’t seem to control my libido when he’s around.
Where is my dignity? My self-respect? My panties?
Seriously…. Have you seen them? Anyone?
Maybe they’re hiding in his bedroom. With my heart.
Yeah, I know. I’m hosed.
So hosed.
Hosed is a steamy, fun romantic comedy between a firefighter and the virgin nerd next door, complete with a pet raccoon, scandalous gossip, and dildo football. (No, really.) This romance has no cheating or cliffhangers, and ends with a banging hot happily ever after.

I need 10 stars. This book is a million of my favorite tropes and every funny thought Pippa Grant and Lili Valente have ever had dumped into a blender and poured out into a book that must come with a DO NOT CONSUME BEVERAGES OR ATTEMPT TO OPERATE HEAVY MACHINERY WHILE READING label because you will be arrested for being under the influence of irrepressible snort laughter. MOAR NOW.
Lili and Pippa are two of my favorite authors and to have them writing together?! Happy sigh!
This book is SOOO funny. After both reading and writing a lot of dark drippy angst, I needed some lighter fare! There is a hot firefighter, a nerdy gamer girl who always had a crush on him, and the firefighter’s pet trash panda (racoon), George Cooney! Jacob Morgan was one of the narrators for this. All I can say is he’s got range because he narrated Willow Winters’ Merciless series which is a dark angsty one.
Can’t wait for more Happy Cat books!
I’ve had the pleasure of reading Lili Valente’s work previously, but this was my first time reading Pippa Grant and I’m looking forward to reading them both, individually, and hopefully together, again soon. These two authors worked fantastically well together. Their writing styles meshed almost effortlessly, with seamless transitions between the two them. Everything about their writing came together nicely in this story, and I couldn’t tell who was writing what, which is exactly what I look for in collaborative effort—a smooth-reading, cohesive finished product.
Hosed was a sweet and charming romantic comedy set in a wacky little, Southern small town, Happy Cat. The hero was the town’s golden boy-turned-firefighter, and the heroine was a nerdy gamer girl who left years earlier but was back in town to help her sister. Between the workplace disasters, meddling neighbors, raccoonus-interuptus and potential criminal charges, this laugh-out-loud romcom had an almost slap-sticky feel to it that keep me audibly laughing and grinning the whole way through. Wonderful supporting characters, a plot that was fun and hilarious, and that domesticated raccoon who nearly stole the show rounded this light-hearted read out. But it was the steamy romance, with a bit of a second-chance feel, that kept me tapping my Kindle.
Hosed was amusing, witty, steamy and entertaining. I loved this couple, I loved the side characters, and I hope that these authors take us back to Happy Cat very soon. Hosed by Lili Valente and Pippa Grant gets 4.5 smooches from me!

The first couple of pages of this book quickly set the stage for this wonderfully wacky small town and had me spewing my drink, snort laughing, and needing the Heimlich, or as my dear, departed uncle used to say, “Give her the hemlock!” I swear, this book needs a warning, not only about the combination of spontaneous laughter while drinking and reading, but also the sore stomach muscles the next day. Who knew reading a book could result in core strengthening?
Ladies, gentlemen, and fictional raccoon heroes, the world of rom-com has a new power couple. Pipli? Valant? Whatever their hybrid name, these two ladies make a heck of a team, bring tons of laughs, explosive heat and a big ol’ heap of heart. This book had me at “George,” because any book that makes a loveable, endearing hero of a pet raccoon that I like as much as the book’s actual hero is a winner for me.
So you’re aware of my prejudice, I need to make a confession. I am soo over the worn-out, cliché tropes like billionaires, fake marriages and virgins, but darn if these ladies didn’t sneak one in on me, and I LIKED it. Yes, Cassie is still securely in possession of her V card, which is completely at odds with her moving home to take over her sister’s sex toy company in the small town of Happy Cat, GA. And the sexy firefighter she butts heads with when his crew responds to a call at her factory? Turns out he’s also her neighbor, but they have a little ancient history to work through before they can get on with the business of being “neighborly.”
I adored this wild and wacky small town with all of its colorful characters who, although they keep the gossip mill going also step up for their friends when needed. Even the premise is great: Cassie’s sister, Savannah, catches her husband defiling a sheep (yes, you read that right) and escapes the madness and gossip by heading to Europe, leaving her sex toy company in the hands of her innocent, nerdy, programmer sister. Then there’s the raccoon, George, who has strong opinions and doesn’t hesitate to share them. If you’re in the mood for some delightful craziness, gut-busting humor, crackling chemistry, a new favorite four-legged hero and an abundance of heartwarming feels, you definitely won’t want to miss this one!
A match made in romance readers heaven – Pippa and Lili getting together and giving us this amazingly funny, steamy rom-com with all the feels and even a suspense element. Meet the protagonists: Cassie a nerdy game developer, who comes back to her home town to run her Sister’s business – a sex toy factory, while said sister is traveling and rediscovering herself after a divorce and Ryan, the beefcake firefighter, Cassie’s high school crush and current neighbor; and let’s not forget George Cooney, Ryan’s pet raccoon, who plays integral part in this hilarious small town adventure. I am a big fan of Pippa’s and Lili’s work and their collaboration on this book is just perfect! I hope they continue to work together and bring us more stories from Happy Cat.
Boy oh boy I can see what all the hype is about this book. The story is delightful and extremely comedic. The characters are lively, entertaining and have quite the stories. I couldn’t get enough of this crew. I can see what all the hub-bub is about George. What a character! I loved his little epilogue not to mention all the crazy things he did throughout the story. This one is going on my favorites list!
If you can “write romantic comedies that will make tears run down your leg,” I’m in!
This was a cute story…I would say closer to 3.5 stars. It isn’t high action by any means but I liked the geeky female char…the male was too passive for me…not alpha enough for my taste. I really did like the dildo football…and the Raccoon.
This was an adorable standalone romance with a storylline that had me giggling and also fanning myself throughout. The characters were endearing and had me wishing I could visit Happy Cat in real life just to see what George the raccoon was hauling around.
If you’re looking for a funny read that still has enough heat to light you up, then I highly suggest this book. HEA guaranteed.
A fun romantic story about Savannah and Ryan meeting again. Only not in the best situation.
Savannah returns temporary to her hometown of Happy Cat, to help out her sister. She reunites with her high school crush Ryan, who is a sexy gorgeous firefighter!!
I enjoyed the story line, the funny characters, and his pet raccoon, George Clooney!! I listened to this book on Audible, narrated by the sexy Jacob Morgan and talented Virginia Rose.
Can’t wait for the rest of this series!
Welcome to Happy Cat, Georgia, USA! A quirky little town inhabited by some quirky, albeit loveable characters as well as being home to a sex toy factory that has the locals divided about the respectability of said business.
When Cassie Sunderwell temporarily returns to town, not only is she plunged into managing her sister’s sex toy factory, she finds herself with Ryan O’Dell as her next-door neighbour. Yes! The Ryan O’Dell she has a teenage crush on. The Ryan O’Dell who broke her heart and influenced her future relationships … or rather non-relationships.
This love story between Cassie and Ryan is sweet, sexy and utterly swoony! I enjoyed the time Cassie and Ryan spent together; they took the time to go on dates, share their thoughts, and get to know one another. And we’ll have to give Ryan kudos for one hell of a grovel scene. Ten out of ten, Mr. O’Dell.
Do towns like Happy Cat exist? If so, I truly want to visit and just observe. There are several amusing offbeat characters and yes, a special mention must go out to the raccoon, George Cooney. He really is not just a pet, but a town personality in his own right. His escapades are hilarious, and dare I say, worthy of their own story??? Once you finish HOSED, do not forget to download the bonus epilogue for more Cooney tales.
Pippa Grant is my go-to author when I need absurdist fun, endearing characters and loopy storylines. HOSED – her collaboration with Lili Valente – does not disappoint.
As always Pippa delivers a whole new crazy town I want to visit, and characters I want to be friends with. Laugh out loud hilarious. Steamy and sweet. Loved it!! Can’t wait for book two.
Habe das Buch sowohl gelesen, als auch als Hörbuch gehört. Habe selten soviel gelacht! Mein Lieblingscharakter ist und bleibt George. Diesen Waschbär muss man einfach lieben!
Audio Review from July 2019
I really enjoyed this story!!
A little outside the realm of typical second chance romances and that made it more fun!
George Cooney is hilarious!! Just so cute and such a stinker lol
And of course the narrators were fantastic!
Jacob Morgan is awesome and Virginia Rose is amazing and has such a sweet voice!!
Love Ryan and Cassie (and George Cooney). Laugh out loud funny AND super sweet! What’s not to love about Hosed? Looking forward to the rest of the Happy Cat books!
This was a super fun story with more than a dash of silliness that made it very enjoyable. It almost borders on ludicrous but honestly I found myself laughing more than anything else. Additionally while I’m sure this is a fun read, it’s a great listen as well. The audio book had me LOLing more than once. And no spoiler, the epilogue. I AM DEAD. Whether you decide to read or listen, this is a great book to pick up.
Jacob Morgan had me about to pee in my pants laughing. Virginia Rose plays his other half and they balance well with each other. I would highly recommend this if you need a break from suspense and angst. It was a sweet treat to laugh that much at a book.
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
This was a book with a really good story and some very humorous moments. It sets the stage for other stories about the residents of a small town called Happy Cat. This was Ryan and Cassie’s story.
Ryan I liked because he was the oldest brother who still felt responsible for his brothers and for everyone else in the town. His raccoon George was quirky and a great addition to the story.
Cassie was filling in for her younger sister at her sister’s factory, a source of conflict in Happy Cat. She is really a game coder and kind of nerdy that way. She had a few awkward misunderstandings with Ryan in high school and that made their initial reunion tough.
You will enjoy this book if you like eccentric small town romances where everyone knows everyone’s business before even they do.
