When I first met Beau Wilson, I was a little leery of him and his intentions when he reappears after leaving Laurel (aka Lu) fifteen years ago. However, what I came to love about this hero after getting to know him is that he is a successful business man, who is a true gentleman – foul language aside – and wants to take care of the woman he loves and wants to open doors for her and pay for meals. And, I say – what’s wrong with that? I’d LOVE a man like that! What I don’t love or understand is a woman who gets insulted by a true gentleman, as if he thinks she’s a damsel in distress, when all the gestures and signs point to simply being loved. And, who doesn’t love that? In any event, from the history of their breakup, to what occurred for both of them during the fifteen years afterward, and the chance meeting that brings them together again, you have a pretty fantastic story, once again, by Xavier Neal. The story wouldn’t be complete, though, without steamy encounters and hilarious bantering between Beau and Lu and, of course, a danger factor thrown in. This is book 3 in Ms. Neal’s Culture Blind series, and it is my favorite of the series to date.
This book was my introduction to Xavier Neal’s book and let’s just start by saying I am hooked! This is book 3 in a series but each story can be read as a standalone. I won’t rehash what the premise of the story is, you can read the blurb. What I want to talk about is the character development which is fantastic. Each character, even the supporting cast, is a fully realized person. You can picture them and imagine knowing them and chatting with them. I love love love Lu!! I love that she is a nerd (I can relate) but also fun and loving and bold and daring. She is such an amazing character. I love the underlying tones of selflessness that comes from true love. This is a great story and I can’t wait to read not only more from this world but more from Xavier Neal in general. Great story, check it out!
Beau knows exactly how to get under Lu’s skin… and straight into her panties. It’s their fire encounter after so many years, and I found myself laughing with the characters and falling for him too. Then he tosses in a bomb. Beau is a friggen baby daddy! I loved this story. He fought for and protected Lu, while her feelings started to grow for his bossy tots. Side characters like Tank offered more reasons to laugh. All in all their HEA wrapped up well.
Horseback Hero is a fabulous read. Beau makes you want your own “cowpoke”. Another great steamy romance, Lu and Beau are great together. Great job Xavier Neal!!
Xavier has a beautiful writing style that I find to be very soothing it’s great to read her writing when it’s been a busy day and I’m a little frazzled it calms the white noise. That being said her writing is so full of suspense humour and drama just one more page is a dangerous thing to say when reading her books.
This book saw two very different people who have an epic love working through their challenges, differences and outside forces to make a better life for themselves and move on from the past, because sometimes no matter how much love there is it can’t work the first time
It’s fun, sweet and heartwarming story. It will suck you in from the beginning to end. You will love the characters. I love the connection and banter. The chemistry is off the charts. It’s an entertaining read and not to be missed.
Lu and Beau have a second chance within their grasp when they see each other years after their high school love ended. It will take a hell of a lot of strength of character, and some very open-minded in-laws to help them along, though.
This is a great second chance love story. Luna and Beau together are pure fire. Talk about opposites attract and serious chemistry all in one. There were a few people I wanted to strangle, but they were dealt with in a wonderful fashion. I am all for inclusive and diverse love stories being Asian myself, and I applaud Xavier for this story. Loved it!
I loved Beau and Lou. I loved the immediate chemistry for the high school sweethearts. I was angry and sad for Lou when she felt like a she missing out while Beau seemed to have moved on on more ways than one during they’re years apart. I hated that Beau had to deal with a crazy one and attached to her bc of some drunken nights that still ultimately left him with 2 loves of his life. Both had family and friends willing to help blood related or not stand in they’re corners and that they were there for one another. Beau is one hot Ex military Merc for sure and I would love for him to be my protector. Lou didn’t stand a chance if she even tried to play hard to get. Once again Xavier you have created pure and organic magic!!
There is so much to say about this amazing second chance romance between Lu and Beau. This was a page turner for me and once I started, I couldn’t put it down. Again one of my most favorite things about Xavier is her ability to write characters that are real and relatable.
It starts where our other two books in the series start, the tropical music festival. Our two lovers bump into each other one night and it’s off to the races. Beau and Lu have a first true love history, but it was ended abruptly. Once Beau sees her again, he won’t let her go. There’s secrets hidden between them and once they are out, what happens?
Dive into Xavier’s world of swoon worthy heroes, nerdy but independent heroines and all the craziness in between. I fell in love with these characters and even the background characters from the start. So many moments of laughter, possible tears, yelling and freaking out. But so so worth it.
But can their love stand a second chance? Or will the secrets and dangers that are lurking around the corner forever stain their pages? Read to find out!
From the first page to the last this book had me.
Lu was my heroine in this book. Her quirky sense of humor and the way she loved her some Beau.
I loved the way Xavier told this second chance at love story with an element of suspense to it.
I love the conversation Beau and Lu had especially in reference to Deadpool and his Ex name “Southern Helle”. Moments like this had me LMAO.
Xavier thanks for having me on your team. Your stories keeps getting Extraordinary each time you write one.
This is an 6 star book and a must read.
Horseback Hero is book three in The Culture Blind series, which can be read as a standalone.
I just loved Beau and Lu so much. This book had me hooked from the beginning. All the right spots are hit in this book and I think it’s a book everyone would love reading.
Beau is LIFE!!! I absolutely LOVE this book!!! This series is one of my all time favorites by Xavier Neal!!! She knows how to write a cowboy like nobody else can!!!!
Oh my!! XAVIER has given us the best second chance romance so far this year! Beau and Lu are adorable!!!
Lu is a nerd girl that everyone will love! She has a heart of gold, and I honestly think she is finding herself in this book.
Beau is so stinking cute!!! His life is a little crazy at times, and his job is something else! He’s this country, horse loving man that just wants one thing. HER!
Years have passed since these two have seen each other, and when they reconnect their world is turned upside down. Secrets are reviled, longing for the past sets in, and the present smacks them right in the face. Life is crazy, and I love that both of them take it in strides. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!! I laughed, wanted to scream, and slap a b***h so hard! I read this book so fast, and I swear it’s a page turner! One minute or on chapter 3, then all of a sudden chapter 7 is right around the corner. This is book 3 of The Culture Blind series, but is a stand-alone!! I’m ready for the next!!!
Horseback Hero is Book three in the Culture Blind Series and it’s a great addition to the series. Lu and Beau are fabulous characters and their story is one that will suck you in right a way. A tale of second chances and so much more.
I really enjoyed how Neal brought these two back into one another’s orbit, and how their chemistry and connection was clear – even as they had things to work through from the past. Lu was a fun character, I really enjoyed her personality, she struck me as someone I’d love in real life. And Beau was a great guy as well, just one of those men you know you can believe in.
The element of suspense was beautifully woven into the story and really held my interest. I loved the feeling of surprise and intrigue that kept me on the edge at times but also kept me reading.
Beau and Lu deliver a story that will grip your mind, heart, and brain
I’m always amazed at Xavier Neal’s writing. The way she wraps you up in the story and keeps you reading until either you reach the end or you can’t keep your eyes open any longer is fantastic.
This is the 3rd book of the Culture Blind series. But each book can be read as a stand alone. If you haven’t read one of Xavier’s books, this would be a good one to start with.
This was a wonderful second chance read about Beau and Lu. Can opposites really attract? This story takes you on a beautiful journey and it definitely does not disappoint. Loved their interaction and banter. I couldn’t stop reading until I finished this beautiful, thrilling, sweet wonderful love story. Love this series and I can’t wait to read more by Xavier Neal.
was giving this book in return for an Honest review.
Love, Love this book.
The best second chance romance yet….Beau and Lu are just perfect for each other, even tho is been years since they seen each other. Author Xavier Neal knows how to keep us readers entertained,
it has it all, I laugh, made me sad, mad and I loved it. a must read.
What a great story! {They all Are} Lu hugely independent, is on vacation when she runs into Beau, her longtime ago, boyfriend. The commentary in her mind is hysterical, His He man dictates not so much. But there’s still that feeling between them, and some obstacles. The Cowboy will need to get his City Girl on the same page. There is Love, humor, a bit of a threat, but Xavier ties it into one nice package!
This was my first suspense read of Xavier Neal’s and I was blown away! I loved how it gave you the vision of a true second chance romance. Imagine, your first crush or the love of your life ended and you have no idea why. You will always leave a part of your heart with that person. No matter how much you try to forget them or move on, they will always leave an impression on your heart. As we get older, we still remain our true selves, but become our better selves. Beau and Laurel have a lot of adjusting to do. I love the bickering, the sexual tension, and compassionate compromises that they work towards. Moving on is hard on enough, moving on without your life’s love can be unfulfilling. This gave a realistic vision that true love is made of hard work and compromises. The creative, verbal play and dangerous unknowns makes this a must read!
