Ken Follett and the intrigue of World War II—“a winning formula” (Entertainment Weekly) if ever there was one. With his riveting prose and unerring instinct for suspense, the #1 New York Times bestselling author takes to the skies over Europe during the early days of the war in a most extraordinary novel. . . . It is June 1941, and the war is not going well for England. Somehow, the Germans are … England. Somehow, the Germans are anticipating the RAF’s flight paths and shooting down British bombers with impunity. Meanwhile, across the North Sea, eighteen-year-old Harald Olufsen takes a shortcut on the German-occupied Danish island of Sande and discovers an astonishing sight. He doesn’t know what it is, but he knows he must tell someone. And when he learns the truth, it will fall upon him to deliver word to England—except that he has no way to get there. He has only an old derelict Hornet Moth biplane rusting away in a ruined church—a plane so decrepit that it is unlikely to ever get off the ground . . . even if Harald knew how to fly it.

The Eye of the Needle this is not. Yet I enjoyed the 1941 setting and Allies issues while floating along on the developing love story and rather predictable outcome . No matter what, Follett, as usual, does not let his reader down, providing a satisfying red.
Interesting story about partisans in Denmark in WWII. It was a bit plodding, however.
Exciting!
Infinitely readable, page turning book by one of our best authors.
Everything a spy thriller should be
Though the title makes this somewhat predictable, it was still an interesting read.
Vintage Follett. Not his best but not his worst either.
Just plain good.
Great story, very realistic. Liked the characters, the setting in WWII Denmark. Ken Follett is one of my favorite authors, and he did not disappoint.
Great book. Hated to put it down.
Great WWII spy thriller reminiscent of Eye of the Needle
Another excellent book written by Ken Follett.
Interesting historical content from an outstanding writer of historical fiction
Excellent
I enjoyed this book because it was about history as well as it was interesting. Kept my interest from beginning to end.
I loved this book, interesting story. Very well written.
I couldn’t put the book Down
Whatever the subject, Follett never fails. Truly a remarkable author.
Follett’s military books are always excellent, and as true to real as fiction allows them to be. Recommend any of his books
An edge of your seat thriller that’s difficult to put down. If you like happy endings, Follett’s book are sure to please.
