Wonderful historical novels where you float away in sweet language and where the honor of the lady is held high. I loved reading the story of Lord Johnston and Lady Ashton “Entangled with the Viscount”
Besides the fact that this is a sweet love story, a mystery is also unraveled. Someone is trying to help Lord Johnston of this world by giving him laudanum which makes him unconscious for 3 days. He therefore thinks he is too late for his visit to Lady Ashton, who knows nothing about it. When Lord Johnston is offered a second time laudanum, he soon recognizes the taste but has already drunk from it. When he arrives home, Lady Ashton follows him and together they discover a corpse in his study. Together they go in search of the real murderers at the risk of their own lives.
The nice thing about this story is that Lord Johnston already appeared in an earlier story. That of Lord Turner and there too a mystery was unraveled.
Again, nice sweet stories, highly recommended

First of all, this collection is really long although each individual story is not too bad. If you are looking for something you can put down and come back to later, this would work for you. As with all compilations, some stories are better than others but I didn’t find any of them to be a disappointment. The first stories are Regency or Victorian era and the last are western mail order brides. I am not going to review them all separately making for an extremely long review. If you are familiar with these authors, the books included here are good examples of their writing styles. These are also clean romances, some with sexual tension and lots of kissing.

All clean books with wondrous characters and storylines. Many of the regencies have a mystery element to them which makes them that much more enjoyable and interesting. Most of the mail orders are not the typical storyline, I quite enjoyed that.
Promise of the Earl
A most enjoyable, clean, regency romance with some tragedy and mystery. Wonderful characters and an engaging storyline with some definite twists and turns.
An Earl’s Wager
Quite an enjoyable tale. Unexpected moments and a pull at the heart. Can someone truly change, would someone even want to change? Wonderful characters.
Alice’s Arranged Marriage
I was drawn in most completely to this story of being out of place. The side notes of something being afoot was intriguing as well. I loved these characters.
Entangled with the Viscount
A most engaging and bewildering beginning that led to an equal entertaining rest of the book. I absolutely loved it. Mystery and peril and twists and turns. I was beyond excited to revisit characters from the first book! Such an unexpected revelation at the end makes me hope and long that we will see more of these characters, and those revealed, in a subsequent book in this set.
The Aristocrat’s Charade
I was utterly confused at the first, but once the premise made its way out, I was invigorated looking forward to yet another mysterious adventure romance. It turned out better than I could expected. Quite entertaining.
Bewildered Earl
Much anxiety was caused to me at the beginning of this book as I was both anticipatory and worried regarding how things would play out. And indeed, the title sums these circumstances up quite nicely. Bewildering, indeed! Such a story with confusion and adventure!
The Viscount’s Heart
Lovely characters and a nefarious scheme. Will the beautiful lady be trapped, never to find happiness?
An Earl’s Love
A story that set my heart alight. Such anticipation I felt at the journey to come. Two wonderful characters coming together in an enjoyable story.
Unexpected Earl
This whole story was must unexpected. It definitely kept me guessing the entire way.
Westward for Love
After enjoying so many regencies, I was worried that I wouldn’t care for the switch to western mail orders. However, this was probably the most enjoyable, albeit unusual, mail order bride book I’ve read. A truly engaging storyline with solid characters.
Broken Betrothal
A sweet romance. Unexpected twists, and a soft, sweet yearning.
The Bride’s Heart
A sweet tale full of sorrow and healing.
Etta’s Secret
THere was a a bit of mystery added to this mail order romance. A romance with action and adventure.
Jessie’s Regret
I’m excited to revisit a character introduced in the last book. Interesting twists and good characters.

Absolutely loving these books!
Thank you to the author for allowing me the opportunity to read an advance review copy.
Pleasantly surprised! These are wonderful books. The stories are full of strong characters, clean romance, hurdles to overcome without the ridiculous misunderstandings often found in many stories. I appreciate the character development and the unique story-lines. The hero and heroine, as well as others, have depth of character not often seen in many romance novels. Very refreshing. I believe I have found a new favorite author! Thank you Ms. Alec!

*** Reviewing “THE ARISTOCRAT’S CHARADE” ***
I really love this romance with its clever touch of intrigue and mystery! Miss Ophelia Grey is pleased that Lord Peter Marchmont, who believes she is not the right match for him, decides that their courtship should go no further. It is actually a relief to her! Yet she is surprised when he comes back in a couple of days to beg her for another chance! That makes no sense at all!
When Peter found a note which stated that he had to court Miss Grey or his brother, Edward, would be ruined, Peter realizes he has no choice but to go back to her and convince her that they need to try again. Fortunately, he does tell her the truth of the situation and they work together to protect Edward’s reputation while they find out who sent the note and why.
Ophelia and Peter work well together and as mutual respect and affection start to be realized, perhaps they won’t want to walk away the second time.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and found it fun and intriguing. Ophelia was a strong character that was easy to respect. I think both she and Peter learned some valuable lessons about each other that will give them a firm foundation if they choose to give love a chance. I highly recommend this one! This author’s books are really excellent and I think you’ll thoroughly enjoy all of the books she has collected for you here!
