When he falls, he falls hard.Millie Baylin just moved to a new city to start college. Introverted and studious, she plans on spending most of her time holed up in the library working on her novel and keeping to herself. But when she gets dragged along to a school football game by her fun, football-mad new roommate, the hot alpha quarterback almost drops the ball at his very first sight of her.Bo … very first sight of her.
Bo McCabe is saving himself. A hopeless romantic at heart, he’s holding out for the real thing. As soon as he lays eyes on the shy stranger with the striking gray eyes and the angel’s face, he’ll stop at nothing to find out if she’s the one he’s been waiting for all along. Millie thinks Bo’s insta-obsession is insanity and wants nothing to do with him. But Bo is determined. Because, somehow, Millie has already stolen his heart … and he is now utterly obsessed with winning hers.
Can Bo convince Millie he’s the man of her dreams?
Hopeless Romantic is a sexy standalone novella, starring an obsessed hero and the love of his life (includes three hopelessly romantic HEA epilogues!). This book is a tribute to love at first sight and insta-everything (because it happened to me :).
Book #1 in the McCabe Brothers series

I loved this story so much that I didn’t want it to end. Bo and Millie were two lonely, lost souls that destined to find each other. I am a huge sports romance fan and this book delivers.
Millie is an introvert just trying to focus on school and writing her second novel. She had no desire to stand out and she has no time for sports or parties. When she ends up at her schools football game she never wanted or expected to catch the star quarterback’s eye. Bo is the star quarterback whose sole focus has been on football until he happens to see Millie that day at the game. With Millie on his mind he knows he needs to find her and make her his.
I loved Mille, Bo, Violet, and all the other football players we meet in this short story. This story is not just a love story, it’s also a story about friendship as well as the craziness that is social media. I think the author did an amazing job of telling this story as well as setting it up for the next book in the series. I do secretly hope she decides to expand on this world and write some stories for a few of the footballers too, they seem like they could use some happily ever after.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A beautiful story of shy Millie and Bo McCabe the quarterback, who met and fell in love.
Its short but very interesting.
Well done Julie
Let me say that I dont usually care for love at first sight books, but I really loved this one! Millie has a really tragic background and Bo’s isnt a lot better. Their love story has angst, an interesting storyline and lots of steamy scenes.
Hopeless Romantic is book one in the brand new series, McCabe Brothers, by Julie Capulet. Julie somehow has this ability to write the stories that make my heart so happy. They are full of OTT Alpha heroes that will go to the ends of the earth to make their woman their own. They are full of insta-everything and I am addicted.
Millie Baylin has had a hard life, a life void of any of the normal pleasures we all take for granted. But she has risen above it all. It took her a year after high school to save up the money but she is about to start her freshman year of college. All she wants to do is study, keep to herself, and work on her novel.
Millie and her new roommate hit it off from the very first moment. Her roommate is fun loving and easy to talk to. She convinces Millie that she has to attend the very first football game with her so Millie reluctantly goes along. Little did she know that this day was going to change the rest of her life.
Bo McCabe is a senior and is the starting quarterback. Bo, though, has gained quite the reputation on campus, because he doesn’t date, ever. He is saving himself for the “one.” He doesn’t know if he’ll ever find her although he prays it’s soon. It’s the first game of the season and when he randomly glances up at the jumbotron, the world stands still, because there she is. He just knows that he has to meet her. But how will he ever find her when he has no idea who she is?!
“For the first time in a long time I don’t feel scared. At all. I feel alive, like Bo’s presence has turned me electric and hyper-aware.”
Millie, who wants nothing at all to do with being thrust into the spot light, finds herself in just such a predicament. But Bo is there to save her. They just met but she can’t deny that he is beautiful, and kind, and so wonderful to her. Maybe she can give herself just this one night, but then she will go back to the way life has to be. Because she does not fit into Bo’s world at all. She doesn’t belong there.
“Something about our souls is a match. Our broken pieces fit together.”
What did I love about this book? Everything! I loved that all it took was one look and Bo was gone for Millie. When you read the book, you will get a better idea of why Bo always felt like he had to wait for the “one.” This book is sweet, sexy as heck, and just full of everything that I love.
The next book in the series is called My Hero and is Bo’s brother Caleb and Millie’s best friend, Violet’s story. I can’t wait to read it!
Despite being a very short read, Julie Capulet gives her readers a very touching story. Both main characters seem almost too good to be true but somehow the author pulls it off while keeping it real. This story gives you two young adults who’ve already lost so much in their lives to tragedy. You can’t help but love Bo and Millie and as a secondary character, Violet plays an important role in moving the story along. I look forward to following Violet’s story whenever that book comes out too. The author takes you along on her characters’ journey to their HEA with humor, angst and heat. Highly recommend. 🙂
Bo And Millie’ s Love At First Sight Story Combines Insane Chemistry With A Tender Tale Of Lonely Souls Searching For Something To Ground Them.
Millie Baylin, about nineteen, is putting the past behind and making a fresh start. It feels good. She is ready for change and she has worked hard for the opportunity to go to college. Having recently lost her mom to addiction, and not knowing who her father is, she leaves nothing and nobody behind as she takes a bus from Florida across country to her university. An introverted bookworm, all she wants to do is find a quiet corner to work in, but her new roommate Violet insists she participate in some of the fun. She doesn’t take no for an answer when she asks Millie to join her at the football game.
Bo McCabe, about twenty-one, is having a hard time keeping his head straight lately and something needs to give. The broody towering quarterback – one of the best in college football – is about to play against the rival team in the season opener of his senior year. A local boy, he lives alone in a mansion nearby. He and his two brothers lost their parents tragically five years ago, each dealing with the loss differently. Caleb joined the Marines. Gage moved to Chicago and beds a different woman each night. Bo had promised his mother on her death bed that he would be true to his heart. He witnessed his parents’ deep love for one another, so he is holding out for that elusive perfect woman. So as much as he hates it, casual sex isn’t an option for him.
When Bo looks up at the Jumbotron during the fourth quarter, time stands still as a beautiful angel appears on the screen. She is so captivating that he isn’t certain the vision is real. Hair the palest strawberry blonde and a pixie-like face, he knew immediately that she was the one he had been waiting for. She was his.
Bo and Millie’ s love at first sight story combines insane chemistry with a tender tale of lonely souls searching for something to ground them. Bo’s confidence and loyal support allow Milie to feel peace and safety like never before, while Millie’s vulnerability and innocence make bring out Bo’s alpha, inspiring him on the field as well as off. The couple earns a sweet HEA!
Bo and Millie survive childhood tragedies that leave them introverted and somewhat disconnected from the people around them, but they instantly recognize their connection when their paths cross in this sweet and steamy story. This is an easy read. The POV alternates between Bo and Millie. It is nicely written. The plot is very simple. The characters are well-defined given the length. Both Bo and Millie are sympathetic characters. I rate this book 3.5 stars.

OMG…this book was my favorite book of the year! I’ve read twice back to back. It tells the most wonderful love story of two college kids from different sides of the tracks but with a lot in common. They both are looking for a true love, the love that happens once in a lifetime if you are lucky. This novella is Julie Capulet at her finest! It is a must read novella. I highly recommend this novella and author.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. This story is fantastic! It’s powerful and soo much happens in a small timeframe. I loved it, and I’m thrilled that we get a sneak peek at Caleb and Violet’s story. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
Once again this author has given us an insta love read that we can sink our teeth into. I enjoyed Millie and Bo’s characters they were well developed and engaged me from the start. Don’t miss out on this over the top read its was definitely worth my time.
It was amazing…
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Julie creates a wonderful story that has it all – uncontrollable passion, a childhood filled with fear and heartache that shapes a determined but shy and introspective young woman (Millie) to create her new life, and an equally determined and driven young man (Bo) who is so struck by his first look at Millie that he is overcome by an instinctual need to claim her as his alone. He goes “caveman” much to his surprise, and they are unable to keep their hands to themselves! Turn on the A/C because steamy, hot, primal needs rule their time together. You will smile – a lot – as Millie and Bo learn about each other and accept the fact that love at first sight exists!
