Sarah Andrews is one smart cookie. She’s a top-notch attorney, educated at Stanford and freshly fired from one the best legal firms in Indiana. Her love/win record is 0-3 and as she approaches her thirtieth birthday, she decides she needs a quiet, safe place to regroup. She decides to go home to Dodd. But Dodd, Indiana is far from safe once she comes face-to-face with Richland Conrad Cooper. … Cooper. Rich and Sarah go way back to high school. Rich was teen-girl kryptonite—athletic, charming…persuasive—and Sarah was not immune. She fell hard, certain she’d found true love. But it turned out to be nothing more than the first of her love tries and fails.
She thought time had shored up her defenses, but one look at Rich makes her heart do flip flops. It’s like the moment where unrequited love gets a do-over, the only problem is…Rich doesn’t remember who the hell she is.
That hurt, and no matter how hard Rich tries to make up for that initial faux pas, Sarah won’t forget. She has learned—if a guy steals your heart, breaking his is quid pro quo.
Only when Rich is served with a custody challenge of his two daughters does Sarah call a truce. Working together, Rich can’t help but totally fall for her. She’s cold and rude, forcefully pointing out their differences and his flaws every chance she gets. But the heart wants what the heart wants, so Rich tries even harder to convince her she isn’t meant for any other guy, but him.

What a smart, sassy, fun read! I didn’t know what to expect from this new-to-me author. But boy did I love the ride Seckman took me on! The characters were relatable. The dialogue was smart. The story developed well and drew me in immediately. I simply loved it from the first page to the last and look forward to reading more from this author.
Hoosier Dad

5 out of 5 stars
The story Hoosier Dad by Elizabeth Seckman is a contemporary romance book. It hooked me in and I found myself lost in the storyline and the characters. I loved reading about Sarah Andrews and Richland Conrad Cooper. Sarah is a lawyer who has come back to her hometown. She is smart, beautiful, independent, and stubborn. She has run into Rich, a man that still has an effect on her. Rich works in construction and has two daughters who he loves and cares for. When he finds himself being challenged for custody of his daughters he turns to Sarah for help. He can’t help but fall in love with her. What does the future hold for Rich and Sarah? Will Rich win the custody challenge? Will he get Sarah to take a chance with him? Read this book to find out. I enjoyed the bantering that goes back and forth between Sarah and Rich. Their interactions at times are intense. I also enjoyed reading about the additional characters that are introduced and interact with Sarah and Rich. Many of them are good friends. There are also those who have their own agenda and plans. Don’t miss out on an amazing romance book that is well-written and has amazing characters. Highly recommended.
After finishing one of the author’s books, I had to read another and enjoyed it every bit as much as the first. Seckman excels at character development and world-building. If you enjoy a good romance, grab the chocolate chip cookies, an iced tea, kick back and enjoy.
Hoosier Dad By Elizabeth Seckman. This was my first book by this author but I’ll definitely be back for more. I’m a sucker for a coming back home second chance book, and this one definitely didn’t disappoint me. It’s a fun read and I absolutely loved the characters. The author does a a great job of drawing readers into the world of Sarah and Rich. I love everything about this book and can relate to it on a few levels. From page one I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. The characters are complex and relatable, and their story jumps off the pages and comes alive. I can’t wait to read more from this author. Five stars all the way! And highly recommend it!
Hoosier Dad was a good 4 star read.
This is a second chance romance that pulled me in right from the beginning.
Sarah is back in town to open her own law firm. Rich is a single dad who is looking for the right woman to be a mom to his girls.
When Rich first see’s Sarah he doesn’t recognize her, which rubs her the wrong way. He broke her heart years ago in school and he doesn’t even know who she is? When Rich’s ex wife threatens to take him to court to get full custody of the girls, Sarah offers to assist him with his case.
Both Rich and Sarah were hurt years before, can they get past those feelings and find each other again? As they spend more time together they start to let their walls down and grow close again.
Will they get their HEA?
Overall I enjoyed this story and the characters. All of the secondary characters were great, even the ones I didn’t like. I was done before I knew it. If you’re looking for a great second chance romance with loveable characters, 1-click and get started today on this book today. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Hoosier Dad by Elizabeth Seckman is a well written contemporary romance that I found a delight in reading. Rich and Sarah broke each other’s hearts when they were young, and when they meet again, no matter how much they try not to like each other, it just doesn’t happen. Rich is now a single dad who is raising his two daughters after his ex-split. Now she is back and is saying she is going to take her kids. Sarah is a lawyer, and determined to whatever it takes so he doesn’t lose his girls.
This was a good read and the first for me by this author and I was not disappointed. She has well developed characters and a strong story line. I love this read and highly recommend this four star read!

I was pleasantly surprised by this story, I’ll be honest I was afraid it would be a predictable type of storyline but it was in no way at all predictable.
I really appreciated that it wasn’t a normal second chance romance where they meet again and all is well. There was so much going on in this book and it was impossible to put down once I got settled in. I loved Sarah in every way, she was a tough take no prisoners attorney and literally did what she had to do in this story while going up against an evil ex and falling in love with the two girls who were the reason for the custody battle.
This is my first time reading anything by this author and I can promise it will not be the last, I loved her style and the flow of this story, you never really knew what was going to happen until it happened. That’s my favorite type of book!
Definitely looking forward to more from this author and I highly recommend this book.
Completely Awesome
Hoosier Dad by Elizabeth Seckman is a second chance romance that is fun and light hearted story that was also witty and charming. I enjoy Elizabeth’s writing style and read the book in one sitting. I also found it to be a refreshing and clever read. The story flowed well and the journey the characters took was full of emotions and heat, heart and soul, passion and drama and they were palpable and very vivid. This is my first read by Elizabeth and I really enjoyed it. It has all the ingredients that makes it a feel good read that has you laughing out loud at times. Elizabeth has a way with words that make it not only fun but it is also witty and interesting, mysterious at times and oh so steamy. The story is told in dual POV’s which I love love love and we get to see where each character comes from and it gives so much more depth to the story. Lets just say that with differing POV’s it definitely made the story more enjoyable and at times completely outrageous.
Sarah has come back to town and comes face to face with the man who didn’t just break her heart he stomped on it but when he is in need of help she offers straight away and what she finds is nothing like what she left behind.
Rich is on the lookout for a wife. His expectations are outrageous and made me laugh so hard. When his ex causes trouble he turns to the one person who doesn’t like him but what he finds is something he never thought would happen.
A great read and one to add to your TBR list.
Hoosier Dad by Elizabeth Seckman was a fun, light hearted, witty read that had me hooked from that first opening sentence.
My first read by this author I didn’t know what I was getting into, and lets just say, I liked it, I liked it a lot. This book was, as I said, super fun, witty, interesting, mysterious, steamy, weirdly outrageous, and just, full of though good feels that have you going, why isn’t this a movie?!. I have such a fun time with both MC’s, told in dual POV we get both of their sides of the story, and I loved how both were on completely different pages. It made room for growth, second chances, and change. Also made for some pretty fun lol moments.
I have to say, I wasn’t expecting to like this book as much as I did, as the synopsis had me thinking it would be pretty mediocre. But this author proved me wrong and truly delivered a wonderful, smart, fresh read that not only flowed, it had heart, passion and you could feel the emotions oozing off the pages. It was like I was watching a real life drama unfold, and it was glorious.
So to end on that high note, I’m going to leave you with my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval.
Happy Reading

Hoosier Dad was a really enjoyable read. It is one of those stories that is just really easy to read and I found myself easily dragged into what I was reading and the story of Sarah and Rich. There was a good level of drama running throughout the story which I think was fuelled by the small town gossiping and a couple of secondary characters! The main characters were really likeable and they certainly had a good amount of chemistry, I think I anticipated a little more romance however I think how they interacted with each other did fit in with their past relationship.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I don’t think it will be the last. I liked the simplicity of the story it was nice to read a storyline that wasn’t overly complex. It was a great contemporary romance that I would definitely recommend!
This is the first book I have read by this author and I will look for other stories she has written. I find her style of writing to be easy and enjoyable.
This is a second chance tale that has humor and doesn’t take itself too seriously. It flows well from beginning to end and has a decent balance of emotions and experiences.
Great kids and friends as well as local town people all add color to this story.
I recommend this book.
Hoosier Dad is an awesome contemporary romance by Elizabeth Seckman. Before reading this, I had never read any of this author’s work, but now I will definitely be reading more. I loved it and would definitely recommend it to others, especially if you enjoy a second chance romance.
Approaching her 30th birthday and with yet another disastrous relationship behind her, attorney Sarah Andrews decided to move back home to Dodd. One of the first people she meets is Richland (Rich) Cooper, the man who broke her heart. Ideally, she would like to never see him again but Rich needs a lawyer to help him keep custody of his 2 daughters from his evil ex-wife (who at one point had been Sarah’s friend.
Spending more and more time together, and Sarah falling in love with his 2 daughters, Rich is determined to win Sarah back. I loved the interaction between Rich and Sarah, Sarah trying so hard to resist his charms when deep down she still loves him. Rich’s 2 daughters Stacey and Kari were adorable and added so much to the story. You gotta love a cute kid in a romance story!
Of course the path to true love never runs smooth and there are so many obstacles in their way, mainly Rich’s ex-wife Jess and the local Doc who has his eye set on Sarah for himself.
Well deserving of the 5 star rating!
Hoosier Dad by Elizabeth Seckman is a contemporary romance book with loveable characters and a great story line to boot.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was really taken with her writing style. She effortlessly draws you in and makes you fall instantly in love with the characters she has created. Sarah and Rich were so clearly made for each other and they were the type of characters that you really get behind.
I loved the story as well. I liked the fact that it was the father fighting for his kids rather than the typical story of the mother doing so. It gave it an edge to the book that you don’t always see. I was also really taken with the cover of this book. Even if I hadn’t decided to read it anyway I think the cover would have made me pause long enough to give it a try.
This is a great book and one that I can highly recommend. I am looking forward to exploring more of Elizabeth Seckman’s work in the future.
Hoosier Dad by Elizabeth Seckman. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I hope it won’t be my last. Its a contemporary love story about Sarah Andrews and Richland Conrad Cooper. Sarah is a highly educated, highly sought after attorney at one of the biggest Law Firms in Indiana. She has it all together except her love life. Every relationship she’s tried, she’s failed. When she gets fired from this amazing job she is devastated and moves back home to Dodd, Indiana. She thinks Dodd is a safe place for her until she runs into one of her 3 failed loves, Richland aka Rich. He’s still so handsome and her heart is falling into her stomach until he doesn’t remember her. She is beyond furious. She writes him off and is going to forget she ever met him until he gets served custody papers on his 2 daughters. Rich is a wonderful dad and he and his daughters have the best relationship. He tries to get Sarah to help him, at first she is hesitant but then she gives in and helps him. While they are working together Rich falls for her. Will Sarah give him another chance or will she continue to be angry at him? Read Hoosier Dad to find out!
This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed every page of it. I was pulled in right from the beginning by the well written characters. They are connectable and made the story feel realistic. Sarah is back home again trying to regroup, when she sees Rich again. She fell for him once before, will she again? When Rich needs her help, he may get more than he realizes. Will he convince her he is just what she needs and take down her defenses? I highly recommend their story.
Hoosier Dad by Elizabeth Seckman made me chuckle at the very beginning and managed to continue to do so on and off all the way through, but it also really pulled at my heartstrings.
Rich is a single dad with two daughters with a sizable age difference between the girls, and all I could think about was my daughters and their relationship with their daddy. My husband and girls have a very similar relationship to the relationships Rich has with Kari and Stacey which you don’t see a lot of
When Sarah wasn’t making me laugh she was making me mad. She refused to be an adult about a lot of the matters that came up but I will say she stepped up when she had to which did redeem her in my eyes.
Stacey won my heart so many times and her love for Rover just tipped the scales towards her being my favorite and helped me enjoy the book just a little more.
I have not had the pleasure of reading anything by Ms. Seckman before but I do hope I get the opportunity to read her again in the future.

This is on a very short list of books now that I loved the entire thing, but at different points in the book disliked both main characters for one reason or another for making a selfish decision. One usually can do no wrong in my head and this one just threw me for a ride!
I love second chance romance, and this was such a spin on that. It took me a bit to connect to Sarah but as her story unfolded, I got her.
And Rich and his girls, ugh anything sexier than a single dad busting his behind to give them the best?
This is a just read, many things play factors in this story and in the end I just wanted more or even an epilogue!
Hoosier Dad is the first book I have read by Elizabeth Seckman and it hooked me from the very beginning. The title alone had me hooked since I live in Indiana so I had to dive in to see what it was all about.
Sarah and Richland were a joy to read. She is a lawyer who is now back and practicing law in her hometown. Rick works in construction and has 2 daughters that he loves very much. Unfortunately he is now face with a custody battle over them and turns to Sarah to help him out. As the time they spend together fighting custody, Rich falls in love with Sarah and who wouldn’t. She’s smart, independent, and the chemistry between the two jumps off the page at you.
I loved everything about this story. Even the secondary characters were amazing to read. Beautiful story and highly recommended!
This is a good story that drew me in easily from the beginning. It is smart and snappy. While it lost some of that edge as the story moves forward it still kept me interested. This is full of small town gossip and problems. Everyone is whispering and talking about everyone else and there is no business like everyone else’s business. This became a little too much for me as the story rolled along. It wasn’t over the top but just not something I am a fan of.
I did like the Main characters. Rich, the kids and Sarah were fun and added zest to the story. I wish there was more romance instead of the doubt that was always there for the two MC’s. I would have liked the story to touch back on the whole dandelion thing. I thought that was so sweet but it never resurfaced. I highlighted those words because they were so true and a great idea
This is a first time author for me. It was a good story and I read it fairly quickly. My main issue was realism. It was a bit like a soap opera and involved a lot of small town chatter.
I have not had the pleasure of reading anything from Elizabeth Seckman until I picked up Hoosier Dad, but I am glad that I have found a new author to love. I really enjoyed this playful and sweet contemporary romance. I easily got wrapped up in the lives of Richland and Sarah, finding myself finishing the book in one swift sitting. Richland seeks out the help of Sarah for her lawyer skills as he is faced with a custody battle for his daughters. These two have the perfect couple banter back and forth and eventually the feelings become too much to hide. How will things workout for Richland? Will he get his fair time with his girls? Will he get the sassy lawyer too? You will have to dive into this book for yourself to find out all the answers but I can promise you this will be a favorite read once you are finished. I look forward to seeing what else is available from Ms. Seckman and whatever will come next!
