Amalie Whitfield is the picture of a blushing bride during her wedding reception-but for all the wrong reasons. Instead of proclaiming his undying love, her husband can be heard, by Amalie and their guests, getting off with someone else. She has every reason to freak out, and in a moment of insanity, she throws herself at the first hot-blooded male she sees. But he’s not interested in becoming … her revenge screw.
Mortified and desperate to escape the post-wedding drama, Amalie decides to go on her honeymoon alone, only to find the man who rejected her also heading to the same tiny island for work. But this time he isn’t holding back. She should know better than to sleep with someone she knows, but she can’t seem to resist him.
They might agree that what happens on the island should stay on the island, but neither one can deny that their attraction is more than just physical.
Filled with hilariously scandalous situations and enough sexual chemistry to power an airplane from New York City to the South Pacific, Hooking Up is the next standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy from Helena Hunting, the New York Times bestselling author of the Pucked series and Shacking Up.

What can I say about Hooking Up? I really loved this book! I hated how it started out, but loved where it ultimately led me. My heart absolutely broke for Amalie, but it was worth it for her to realize she should have never been with Armstrong in the first place. That man is the devil! Let’s move on… Lexington, oh my my my! I didn’t think he could ever be sexier than his brother Bane, but I was wrong. That man had me swooning all over the place. I loved seeing the way he cared for Amalie in his own way and the bond that they built. It was fun watching Amalie transform into her old self! I hated Armstrong from the glimpses we got of him in Shacking Up, so seeing Amalie end up with Lexington was the best thing about this book!
Hot sexy and secret
I loved this story !! Aime and lex have amazing chemistry !! Aimee’s circumstances are devastating but lex is so swoon worthy and perfect !
Their fate was interrupted by the manipulative cousin Armstrong but fate itself has other plans for them .
There are plenty of awkward laugh worthy moments in this book and plenty of hot sexy moments too! Very entertaining and a great read!
This is book two in the shacking up series and although it’s not 100% necessary to read book 1 first it does help to give a background understanding to Aime and Armstrong as well as the other characters present throughout the story .
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it if you like a fun sexy read.
Helena Hunting is such an amazing writer. I love all of her books and one-click every one of them.
I recently reread this book and it’s even better than the first time I read it. The characters are fun to read about and Lexington is so sweet. I plan to reread again in another few months.
This is my new favourite book by Helena Hunting.
Yes it was very sexy, but the story was beautiful, emotional and full of heart and growth. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I do, but it really was the perfect story.
My fave couple of the whole Shacking Up series. Amelia and Lex have off the chart chemistry. The circumstances that bring them together is unfortunate but with the connection these two have it was well worth it. This book will have you in the feels! This is couple goals. I love them so much!
Helena Hunting is my Rom-Com dealer. She releases these amazing books with realistic characters that will have you hooked. You can’t help but want more and more from her. When she delivers you will be feeling so content and happy!
I loved this story! It was so much fun, sexy, light and addictive, I didn´t want it to end because I was enjoying it so much. I´m so obsessed with the characters, those Mills brothers are so much fun (and really hot), so far Lex is my favorite. I absolutely recommend this story, you won’t regret it!
I mean, do I need to say more? The heat between these two has been killing me for TWO BOOKS. Okay, so I’m lucky that I was able to read them back-to-back with no waiting. 😉 But even if I had to wait, HH would have made it worth the wait.
4.5 Hooking Up was a wonderful book! I loved the storyline and the characters, well most of them. Armstrong is a terrible and ridiculous man. How he can think what he did was ok is just insane! He’s messed up in the head to say the least! I had an idea of where this book was going in Shaking Up and then I read Eye Candy and was almost certain of where this was going to go. I am happy to say I was correct and I am very happy that Lex was the hero. I absolutely loved him in Hooking Up. He’s such a good guy, especially with Amy. He helps her in a lot of ways, but I love how he help to show her that she can be her true self and people will still love her. They have a lot of obstacles in the way of their relationship, but they were meant to be together and they just make it work. Being in Lex and Amie’s heads was definitely a hoot and they kept me entertained. I feel like there were multiple options for future books in the story and I hope that becomes true. I know for sure one is and I am very happy about that! I really enjoy this group of characters and I hope they continue on for a while.
I absolutely adore Lex and Anarchy Amy! There chemistry is off the charts. It’s funny sexy and witty! You won’t be disappointed!
Helena Hunting delivers, as always. Loved her Pucked series and find this series just as entertaining and H O T!!!
Hooking Up is Helena Hunting’s newest gem. It is a standalone but you did meet Amelie and Lexington in Shacking Up. I didn’t read Shacking Up, and I’m kicking my arse right now because of it! Amie is Ruby’s best friend and Lex is Bane’s brother. Even without the backstory, I absolutely loved this book. Loved. It. The writing is fresh and witty, the characters realistic and hilarious, the plot fun and entertaining. Even though I laughed out loud, a lot, this was a pretty emotional story. It’s a forbidden romance, but one that I was totally on board with! It’s Amelie’s wedding day. She married Armstrong, and at their reception, he’s caught with another woman. Everyone hears it and Amie is mortified. She’s not sticking around to see what happened and in aftermath of the embarrassment, she literally jumps on the first hot man she sees. Lexington. Armstrong’s cousin. He’s not a stranger, but he is ridiculously hot and he turns her down. Not because he doesn’t want her, but he’s not going to be with Amie out of revenge. As fate would have it, they end up on the same plane to the same island. When they stop fighting the attraction and give in, the hooking up becomes more. But more is bad. But oh so good! The hotness, the sexiness, the tickle trunk of sex toys, the witty banter, the steamy scream out loud orgasms. What happen when they have to go back to the real world? Can they stay away from each other? Does Amie have to keep fighting Armstrong? Could they possibly make it work? I loved this story! So. Damn. Much! I laughed out loud, giggled, sighed, got hot and bothered and got angry. I was cheering for Amie and Lex from the beginning and I just couldn’t get enough of them! Lexington is sweet and sexy, a good man with the body of a bad boy. Amie is freaking hilarious! She stops being who Armstrong wanted her to be and becomes herself again. I love her!
It gave me all the feels and left me wanting more. MORE!
P.S.: I loved the chapter names!
Talk about hot mess!!!
With the return of everyone’s least favorite Whoreton, Amalie’s wedding crashes in a a spectacular way. I can’t even begin to guess how the anger would motivate someone. But with Anarchy Amie lurking inside, I can only imagine…
It’s a terrible situation. It’s complicated beyond belief. It’s also sweet, romantic, and crazy. So of course it’s a great read!!!
I just hope for a little extra bone breaking. It would certainly make me smile.
Lex is all kinds of wonderful. I wish it dove more into his mind. I think this heartbreakingly hot man is more intense and amazingly sweet than he gets credit for.
So to Sexy Lexy and Anarchy Amie, may you figure it all out and stick it to the tiny dicked assh@le!
Great fun read
Sexy Lexy takes Hooking Up to another level…
As the mother of two boys, I felt like the boys in Hooking Up missed the lecture on…Use Your Words, Not Your Hands. My boys, thank goodness, are more about rough-housing than fists flying and I’m hoping this will never change. Sure, there are lots of screaming matches and doors slammed but I’d rather that than bruises and busted lips. I’d have to say, though, that a few of those acts of aggression in Hooking Up were well deserved. Armstrong was a douchewaffle of epic proportions.
WHAT SANE AND DECENT BLOKE CHEATS AT HIS OWN BLOODY WEDDING?
…and that therein lies the problem. Everyone who knows Armstrong knows he’s far from sane and completely indecent. That is, everyone except his new wife, Amalie.
It’s amazing what you can convince yourself into believing when the image before you looks right. Armstrong is clean-cut, well-spoken, from a good family, and holds a respected place in his family’s business. Amalie is trying to make better choices in her relationships, so what she sees is, what she thinks, a better choice. Unfortunately, she missed some glaringly obvious red flags and is now paying the consequences. If only she’d gone with her gut instinct and waited for the hot guy to deliver her drink.
Lex took one look at Amalie and decided that he definitely wanted to know her better. One minute things were looking good, the next, his dodgy cousin had stepped in and stolen his girl. Months later, and when the wedding turns into a shemozzle, Lex is warned away because of Amalie’s fragile emotions. But, wouldn’t you believe it, Amalie falls practically in his lap and gives him the opportunity to win back his girl.
I enjoyed reading Hooking Up but admit to a decent dose of frustration when it came to Amalie’s character. Sexy Lexy is the full package. He’s thoughtful, sweet and caring while also extremely sexy and HOT!! I just felt that Amalie made things a lot harder than they needed to be at times and I wasn’t sure why Lex put up with it all. Sure, she’s been hurt but her ups and downs, highs and lows, ins and outs were a wee bit frustrating.
Hooking Up was a very sexy read and there’s even a wee bit of kinky in this one. It wasn’t OTT or cringe-worthy, more about finding your pleasure with a few kinky toys.
I highly recommend giving Hooking Up a try for Lex alone. With that cover model in mind and the man we get to know, he’s almost bloody perfect. Amalie does come good but she’s a bit of hard work and a twit. Lex for the win!!!
So much fun. So much heat and passion and laughter! Loved it!
This is a happily-ever-after that I couldn’t wait for. Super steamy, funny, and satisfying.
I absolutely loved this book by Helena Hunting. The characters were amazing and you could feel all their emotions. A MUST READ!!
Cute, sexy, and funny, Hooking Up was an enjoyable read about a newlywed heroine who goes on her honeymoon alone with a bag full of sex toys. Sound interesting?
Overall, it was fun and very adult with a slight new-adult feel to it. If you enjoy NA crossovers, I’d recommend it.
