From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aurora Rose Reynolds comes the sizzling final installment to the humorous and heart-filled How to Catch an Alpha series.Anna McAlister needs a new life. But that doesn’t mean she needs a new man. After leaving her fiancé and Chicago behind, she promises herself no dating until she finds what she’s looking for. But meeting one seriously hot and … meeting one seriously hot and determined detective has her questioning herself.
Calvin Miller is that detective, and he’s been burned by women in the past. It’s easy for him to sleep alone and focus on his work, but the moment he lays eyes on Anna, he starts imagining sexy nights with her wrapped in his sheets. Maybe it’s time to get back out there.
But just as the attraction between them begins to sizzle, Anna’s past shows up to create trouble. And to make matters worse, a string of murders forces Calvin to juggle his new relationship and his career. His worst fear? That the two are somehow connected.
Can they find love together, or will her past and his duty sink their hopes?

Sexy and sweet:
Another great book in the How To Catch An Alpha series, which can be read as a standalone. It drew me in from the very beginning and I enjoyed the twist at the end.
I loved seeing Anna’s strength and admired her courage as she sought to forge a new life for herself. Calvin was a protective alpha male, yet I liked how he was tender and sweet too. You could really feel the chemistry between these two and I loved the bond between them just got stronger and stronger.
I enjoyed the fact that this book had humour, but there is plenty of drama, mystery and romance too. I thought the quirky ‘suggestions’ at the beginning of each chapter were a fun touch.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. I was like “ok, now this is going to happen and mess everything up.” Eeerrrr!!! Wrong! The book keeps you guessing and it has a lot of drama involved. Drama tends to follow Anna everywhere… But, it’s all good because Calvin is such an alpha. He decided on his own to take claim of Anna and he is just going with it. Nothing can deter this detective. He is very reliable, protective and I like how he moves the relationship along with her in a natural way. Nothing feels forced with him. That and all the happiness he he brings into her life with the help of friends and some free spirited old ladies, is exactly what Anna was searching for. She just needed a valuable family.
Hooking Him, book 3 and final book to the How to Catch an Alpha series was just as good as the first two. You really can not go wrong with any of this author’s books. I am constantly falling in love with all the characters and in this one, it is no different. Anna McAlister had left her life, family, friends and even her fiance behind in Chicago after realizing she did not like where her life was heading. She is now living a simpler life in a small town, working at a bakery and finally has her heading in the right direction. She has some hilarious neighbors that make her life fun and interesting. But one thing she is not interested in and not quite ready, is being in a relationship. Unfortunately for her the local police detective, Calvin Miller, has set his eyes on her. What ensues is a fun and sexy dance between two people who are made for each other. Add in a little bit of murder and suspense and pesky past relationships made their journey so much more enjoyable and satisfying when they reached their happily ever after.
Aurora Rose Reynolds brought her signature BOOM! in Hooking Him. Calvin didn’t make the best first impression when he met Anna, but he more than made up for it later.
I didn’t hate this. It was cute and things, but something was missing. I think if the enemies in this enemies to overs story lasted a tiny bit longer, maybe…But I loved the writing style and I loved the narrators of the audiobook. Calvin was the kind of Alpha I’ve almost come to expect from this author. Anna is okay if not a bit of a doormat. I requested an advance copy of this from Netgalley on behalf of the publisher and the author. Al opinions are my own.
Anna McAlister left her entire life behind in Chicago needing a new start after realizing she wasn’t happy. Moving to the South Carolina coast and working in a bakery, renting a small apartment from Edie, she feels like she finally belongs even though her life is the polar opposite of what it used to be. Calvin Miller, a local detective, is focused on solving a murder, he wasn’t planning on meeting anyone. Anna’s captured his attention, now he just wants hers despite everything else going on around them.
Hooking Him is a sweet, quick, small-town read with a bit of a mystery thrown in. It has plenty of humor thanks to the “Golden Girls”, a trio of octogenarians who are constantly stirring things up. Despite the murders (which don’t really play a large part of the plot until the end), it’s a fairly light read with some family drama.
Loved this sweet story!! It had an unexpected twist but loved Calvin and Anna so much! I loved their honesty and openness! Loved all the characters in this series and books by Aurora Rose!
I loved watching them grow together and stay together through the challenges of life!!

I am an Aurora Rose Reynolds fan for life! This is the first book I have read by ARR and I was captivated from paragraph one.
I was able to connect with both Anna and Calvin throughout the book. I was drawn to Anna a bit more because I can relate to her and how she feels, minus the money part. She is looking for a sense of belonging and her true happiness. Who can fault her for that?
Now, when she finally has a run-in with Calvin, boy do things heat up. That man, Calvin, sure is a force let me tell you. He has absolutely no problem going after what he wants and darn if anyone is going to stand in his way.
I cannot say one bad thing about Hooking Him! I was drawn in by Anna, hooked by Calvin, and stayed entranced by both Anna and Calvin. The humor, drama, mystery, romance, and everything that came with it was out of this world! The Golden Girls are a hoot and will have you rolling with laughter with their antics.
I will be adding previous ARR books to my iPad soon! I cannot wait to dive more into her wordy creations!!
Hooking Him is a fantastic read. I love that we still get the “Golden Girls” in this one and that they are up to their usual charm. Anna is lovely. She is more then her last name and moving on her own way. Calvin is a hot detective and ready to move on. You will love his family. This whole book will put a smile on your face. Anna and Calvin have this connection that pulls you in. They are so sweet together and burn up the pages too. Calvin and Anna are simply wonderful and suck you in with their banter. I loved this book so much.
Hooking Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds a five-star read that will hook, you line and sinker. This is number three in the How to Catch and Alpha series, but they are all about different people so they can be read as stand-alone, the previous characters do mix in with the stories but only as secondary characters. That being said I am sure you will fall in love with the writing and need to go back and devour the previous novels if you haven’t already. Anna McAlister is just a brilliant character, she stood up for herself and went after what she wants, a quiet life with people who care. Anna just wants a quiet life, and who doesn’t identify with that. When you throw in Calvin Miller and his awesomely hilarious family!! And you have a winner. I did find that the ending a little rushed in places, it was like everything happened in such a few pages, but it worked, and it may just be me that would have liked a little more detail. Overall, this was a great story and one I devoured in one read, with enough in this one to keep you hooked and enough drama that it keeps you on your toes.

I loved everything about Hooking Him. It was a lighthearted sweet and cheeky story with awesome characters! Cal and Anna were so great together! He’s a sweetheart of an Alpha and has a wry sense of humor. Anna is on a journey of realizing who she wants to be and who she allows into her life. Their meet cute was adorable and once Cal decides what he wants, watch out! The Golden Girls are the gift that keeps on giving here and i adored them! Such a fun read!

This is the third and final story in this hot Alpha series and as much as I have loved the others this one was my favourite! Be still my swooning Calvin heart!
The sparks were electric from Anna and Calvin, it wasn’t ARR’s normal BOOM insta love but was close! The banter between them was entertaining and hot! Told in dual POV this was a sexy, fun read that you will devour quickly as once you have started you wont want to put it down.
This can be read as a standalone but you will want to read the others after reading this, plus you get to see one of the previous couples make an appearance.
I loved the golden girls, I hope I am as sassy as they are when I am their age.
Loving the continuation of this series! I absolutely love this author and her style of writing, and this book is no exception! Anna left her whole life behind after realizing that she wasn’t happy and that life wasn’t going to make her happy and walked away. Relocating to a beach town, she works a totally different job and a very different life, and is realizing how much she enjoys what she’s doing now. It’s there that she meets Calvin on a chance, after her new “older” friends get pulled over. Instant chemistry between them, Calvin decides to pursue Anna, even though she feels she’s not ready. As they continue to have chance meetings, he breaks down Anna’s walls and she gives things a chance, even though her past comes to town and threatens her relationship and new life. All through that, Calvin is in the process of investigating a series of murders and doesn’t realize how close he actually is to the answer. I loved the suspense of this storyline and was not seeing the ending coming! I was really happy that we got to see Anna and Calvin’s life years later in the epilogue to see that Anna’s big move and change was the right thing.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Holy WOW! Aurora Rose Reynolds most certainly left the best for last in the How to Catch an Alpha series! This book was full of heartache, suspense, and the alpha heat I have come to expect and love from this author! This book made me feel and I couldn’t put it down. My eyes were drooping at 1:00 AM and I finally had to go to sleep. As soon as I could pick it back up today I completely finished it and it left me with a huge smile! This will be book that I will be rereading again!
I found this to be such a cute story! The way Calvin teased Anna in the beginning had me smiling pretty big. I just thought they were such a cute couple and I really enjoyed reading this low angst romance. Plus the “Golden Girls” in this added to the cuteness of the story.
Calvin had a bit of an intense presence. He’s a detective so he’s naturally protective, but his pursuit of Anna was almost like a wolf stalking his prey. It’s such a great combination in a hero.
Anna is the sweet heroine who isn’t perfect but who is also genuine in her kindness. Her relationship with the Golden Girls brought a lot of humor to the story.
This was a fun read and I can see myself re-reading it when I need something to lift me up.

I really enjoyed this book. I finished it a day. I loved Anna and Calvin. I loved Calvin’s dog too. He added humor and he’s truly man’s best friend. I would recommend any book from this series because they’re all good. I liked catching up with the couple from the previous book. This book has plenty going on that it makes you gobble up the pages. You have a budding love, family drama, and murder cases piling up. With every thing that’s going this book has plenty of humor and heart. I loved Edie and her posse. They are a hoot and perfect people to be in Anna’s life. Anna has a lot of guts starting over to find her happy. This is a book you don’t want to pass up!
I think this was my favorite of the series. I have loved all the couples and stories but this one just really drew me in.
Anna is new to town and is working at the bakery. She is running from her recent past life and doesn’t really know what she wants. She just wants to find herself. That means no men. Especially one, who is hot, alpha and kind of a butthead to her the first time they met.
Calvin is just doing his job. Trying to solve crimes and live life. Once he meets Anna, it is all over for him though. They may try and fight it at first but fate knows what she is doing. I loved the chemistry between these two and also the friendship that grew along with their relationship.
All the characters surrounding Calvin and Anna were great. We get to see some of the other couples plus meet new characters.
The twist in this book really got me. I didn’t see it coming at all.
I always love anything Aurrora Rose Reynolds writes and will always read her books! Hooking Him was a sweet chemistry filled page turner with a guaranteed HEA. Anna and Calvin’s story is the third book in the How to Catch an Alpha series and each one is a recommended read if you love HEA’s. One of my favorite parts in this book is Anna and Calvin’s meet cute, its probably one of the funniest/cutest meet cutes I’ve read. Their attraction is instant and so is their love. Calvin and Anna both have their own personal history and issues but they don’t let that get in the way of finding their happiness. There are some characters that want both Anna and Calvin out of the picture but don’t worry there is an HEA. Aurora knows also how to write amazing and funny side characters which helps to add to this story even more. I laughed, smiled, swooned, and had so many more emotions while reading this. Another 5 stars for an amazing book!
Hooking Him is the third book in the How to Catch an Alpha series. I read the first two and loved them. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. This is the final book in the series, and I’m going to be sad to see the characters go! This book could be read as a stand a lone. You get a glimpse to the characters from the other book, but this story lays out all the details you need for this book. This book is told from duel points of view however most of the book is told from the female’s point of view.
This story is between Anna and Calvin. Anna called off her marriage from a guy she had been with for 5 years. She wasn’t in love with him and was just marrying him to make her family happy by his status. She moved away and her family pretty much disowned her. She wants to find her happy. She works at a bakery and lives in a little apartment above an older lady.
Calvin is a detective going through his own falling out from the woman he thought he loved. She left him, and he has a hard time trusting women now. He meets Anna when he pulls over her landlord. He wasn’t very nice to her, when she was trying to help. When he goes to apologize he realizes he has feelings for her. Anna starts to have feelings for him too.
The newspaper reporter publishes that Anna is from money and left her fiancée, and it has everyone in town wanting to get her autograph. It also brings her fiancée back into the picture. Calvin is dealing with unsolved murders. Can they handle the media from Anna’s past? Can Calvin solve the murders before it’s to late?
I really liked this book, as well as all the others in the series. I can’t wait to read more books by this author.
I appreciated a story that started with that kind of first encounter which was an interesting and very promising one between Calvin, the detective with strong alpha vibes (so yummy that one) and Anna, the new girl in town who would definitely keep him on his toes.
I had a good time reading about Calvin and Anna falling in love, fast and going with the flow.
As true ARR’s style, boom is involved, an alpha guy who wasn’t afraid to express his feelings, protective and caring, the heroine Anna wasn’t a damsel in distress, brave for finding her own happiness, outside of her incomprehensive family.
They have a great chemistry and connection. I appreciated the development of their relationship, with tenderness and hotness, showing how it feels like to be loved and moving together forward at their own pace.
I also enjoyed the small town, with Anna’s new friends who were a crazy bunch, her job at the bakery and to see how she fit greatly. They just made me laugh a lot with their antics!
I was happy not to see much drama, just enough to keep me interested, not too overwhelming.
Full of charm, sweet and swoony!
