The third and final story in Aurora Rose Reynolds’ How to Catch an Alpha series of interconnected standalones, Hooking Him was exactly the type of sweet, sexy romance I’ve come to love and want from this author and precisely what I was looking to read when I picked it up. From their not-exactly-cute first meeting, I felt the spark between Anna and Calvin. It may not have been the insta-love BOOM straight out of the gate that Reynolds’ is known for, but the fuse was definitely lit for the explosion. Sexy, fun, and told in dual points of view, I devoured this easy-to-read, low drama love story in an afternoon. It was steamy and romantic with a hint of suspense to keep things interesting. The hero and the heroine both had baggage from previous relationships that contributed to their current trust issues, but the attraction between them was so undeniable, it was impossible for either of them to not to take the risk. The wonderful cast of side characters ratchet up the charm in this story with their entertaining antics.
Aurora Rose Reynolds totally brings the boom in Hooking Him with a low-angst, light-hearted, feel good story. Calvin was a confident hero who knew exactly what he wanted and pulled out every swoon-worthy move to get Anna’s attention. I absolutely loved watching this couple fall in love, and I was totally swept up in their romance. Hooking Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds gets 4.5 smooches from me!

I enjoyed it. Good story and good characters and a fun plot. I enjoyed the listen!
Another amazing book by an amazing author.
From the moment I started reading I was hooked on Calvin and Anna. The way these two meet is hilarious and then there’s the golden girls that just add even more comedy to the story. There is some drama thrown in there too, so be ready for those twist. Don’t worry you won’t regret reading this story and you should probably read the other books in the series too, they are just as great.
Book 3 in the How to Catch and Alpha series and I am loving it. Anna and Calvin were so good together. She was looking to start over in a new place and enjoy life after leaving her unfulfilling life in Chicago. What she wasn’t looking for was love but love had other plans. Calvin was attracted to her the first time he saw her. She pulled him in but he was a little leery at first due to his past relationship. She was able to show him that she was not is ex and the one for him. Loved them together and loved their HEA.
4 Hooking Him Stars
Hooking Him is the third book in Aurora Rose Reynolds, How to Catch an Alpha series. It is a stand alone and can be read alone.
“You, my beautiful girl, have a warrior’s soul, and today you proved you’re not just willing to take risks to benefit yourself. You’re willing to take risks to help others, and that is true bravery.”
Anna is strong woman who finally has has enough of her old life. She wants more in life then social parties and to worry about what people think of her. She moves to a small town and starts working in a bakery. The simple life suit her down to the ground and she start making some amazing friends which she didn’t really have before. Not interested or even thinking of men, one falls into her lap.
“If you take one lesson from today, let it be that you should live every single day of your life like it’s your last. Drink when you want, laugh until your soul is full, open yourself up to falling in love, spend time with people who are important, and enjoy every moment, even the scary ones.”
Calvin Miller just wants to keep his small town safe from crime and make sure his loved ones are happy. He didn’t anticipate falling hook, line and sinker for the new woman in town. Juggling his career and love is hard and it has burned him in the past.
Hooking Him is an instant love and connection between Anna and Calvin. It was a lovely quick read that was perfect to get away from it all for a bit and I couldn’t put it down.
I am really enjoying this series and these sweet small town romances. I have really been enjoying this trope. Aura Rose Reynolds has captivated me with these characters.
If you are looking for a fast paced, sweet read you need this book. Hooking Him was such a sweet read that I really enjoyed.
This is feel good romance!.
“I’m not perfect, baby, not by a long shot. And I don’t want you to think I am. Perfect is an impossible standard to live by.”
Anna and Calvin’s story is a super sweet quick witty romance that gives you all the good feels.
They come from different worlds but they want the same thing. I wouldn’t say it’s insta love at first sight because they had a little tension filled start but their journey is pretty quick and all gogogo from the moment they give into each other.
I loved her super sweet but feisty personality to his broody and teasing one!. The chemistry is positively smoking between them but those sweet tender moments.. gahhh!!. I lived for those.
Id be doing this book a disservice if I didn’t mention The Golden Girls and their hilariously outrageous shenanigans that had me roaring with laughter!. Please let me be like those ladies, they’re my heroes.
As a whole this book is just super sweet. It’s a journey of self discovery and personal growth. It’s about facing the unexpected and putting your past aside to make room for your future. I swooned, laughed and fumed. I just really loved reading their journey and all the good feels that came with it!. It’s short, sweet and a delightful treat that you definitely don’t want to miss out on!.
Anna moved to find herself and leave her old life behind, with sides of bad parents and an ex-fiancé. Their first meeting was when Calvin pulls her and the Golden Girls over, yeah, that was awkward and funny af. He doesn’t show his best side, but makes it up to her. These two were pretty cute, and I started rooting for them right away, despite his orneriness. Honestly, he cracked me up, but I have a sense of humor that is not for everyone. Clearly we all have to move to this town…cause that’s where all the hot and sweet guys are hiding….Todd, Gaston and now Calvin….road trip.
Safe read, a bit of suspense and a little ex drama. Ooh, we get to see Christie and Gaston. Oh, and new favorites, because I freaking loved the Golden Girls as Calvin refers to the ornery trio, that is always getting in trouble, and bringing Anna with them. Sweet epilogue and hea.

*AUDIOBOOK*
Hooking Him is the 3rd book in Aurora Rose Reynolds Catching an Alpha Series. Anna & Calvin are my favourite in this series! Calvin sets his sights on Anna the moment she comes to town and is determined to get to know her and make her his. She has just escaped a life where she was feeling unfulfilled. She has all the money anyone could ask for but she is in search of true happiness and is leaving it all behind.
ARR is incredible at writing steamy, passionate love stories. There is an insta-love feel to them but they don’t feel overdone or unbelievable. Her romances are so swoon worthy you can’t help but fall head over heels for these couples at the same time they do. In this story not only do we have an amazing love story but the suspense added in kept me listening and engaged. Calvin has a huge heart and his protectiveness over Anna and her family I adored. Together these two are unstoppable.
Virginia Rose and Aiden Snow are two of my favourite narrators. The dual narration was perfect and they compliment each other’s voices well.
A quick, fun and sexy story.
Heroine: Anna McAlister left a life of luxury, her tepid engagement, family and friends in Chicago and moved to small town meaning to start over and find herself. She doesn’t want a relationship but never expected the gorgeous detective who’s determined to woo her.
Hero: Calvin Miller just wants to fight crime and keep old ladies from causing car accidents. He didn’t anticipate whirlwind Anna would catch his heart hook, line and sinker. But trying to balance his career and a love life that has some unforeseen added drama is a bit challenging.
Plot: This is a pretty straight forward plotline, Anna and Calvin find each other attractive in more ways than one but their lives present obstacles they need to figure out, which they do together. This was my first Aurora Rose book and hopefully it won’t be the last. That said, I jumped in the middle of this series without getting that feeling that I was missing something, which is a definite plus.
Feels: This was a quick and easy to read story. It had lots of cute and fun moments between the main characters as well as some very charming old ladies, a dog and return characters from past books.
Sexiness: There were definitely very steamy moments.
Facts: Hooking Him is book #3 of the How to Catch and Alpha series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. It is a stand alone, contemporary romance told from both points of view with a happy ending.
Everyone should have their own trio of ‘Golden Girls’!! Anna gave up her life in Chicago, as an heiress and fiancée to a wealthy man, for the tranquility of a small beachside town. Here she’s found the solace and acceptance that she’s been missing…as well as a gaggle of friends. Then she meets Detective Calvin Miller…and she learns the true meaning of love. Of course we can’t have smooth sailing for the couple…Anna’s ex and snobbish parents show up! Between a rash of murders that have baffled the police and Anna’s notoriety, we have quite a bit happening in this quick story. Nice wrap to the series.
What happens when two lost souls find each other? Aurora Rose Reynolds writes a smoothly written story in her newest book Hooking Him. I have to admit, I love everything she writes and I am happy to say, I was not disappointed with her newest edition. It’s a sentimental story that pulled me in from the first page and the characters are realistic and vulnerable and share sizzling chemistry.
Calvin is a gruff cop, but once you get to know him, you can see the sweetness hidden inside. He was hurt in the past and is afraid to give his heart away again. He is hot, forward and aggressive and he is also a really good guy.
Anna has moved to a small coastal town in South Carolina from Chicago after she decided she needed to make some changes in her life. She enjoys everything about small town life and the genuineness of the people who live there. She left her life of wealth for a simpler life and she doesn’t regret it.
Calvin and Anna are perfect together. They click and help each other overcome the hurts from the past. This is a feel good, tantalizing story with sizzling chemistry. I loved the story and all the colorful characters and I am sure you will, too.
Anna is loving her new life far away from her old life. Working with Chrissie at her bakery and having the Golden Girls as neighbors keeps her happy. When a run-in with Calvin puts her on high-alert, she’s determined to get the grumpy man out of her mind.
Calvin is annoyed with himself when he can’t get Anna out of his mind. Her feisty attitude has him intrigued, even though he has no intentions of seeing her again. With friends, neighbors and family interfering it’s inevitable for these two to get together. But will their pasts keep them away from a possible future together?
This is a great series and I love seeing the other characters in this book! Anna and Calvin have issues with their past they need to deal with before moving forward. I love all of ARR’s books and looking forward to the next one!
Hooking Him was recommended to me and of course, I had to read the series from the beginning because that’s how I roll…..lol! Aurora Rose Reynolds is a new author to me and after this series one I’ll definitely be reading more of. Calvin and Anna were unputdownable, sexy, so much fun to read and how could you go wrong with a side of “Golden Girls”…… they had me laughing so hard! Definitely a series I would recommend.
OMG I’ve been waiting to read this book for a while and now that I read it I really love this couple so much I really wish I there was more books in the series because I really love to read more about Anna and Calvin.
This book is so good. Anna and her “golden girls” had me laughing and smiling. You couldn’t go wrong with these girls becoming your friends and having your back. Anna moved away to start a new life that would make her happy instead of doing what everybody told her to do. I couldn’t blame her on that one. She is a sweet girl and just wants to move on from her past. Calvin is a detective. He is trying to work these cold cases and its taking a lot out of him. Anna and Calvin start spending time with one another and I love it. There is a part in here that I didn’t see coming at all. Highly recommend reading this book. Love it.
Anna McAlister walked away from a comfortable life and even though it was comfortable it felt empty and she didn’t like the person she was becoming. She left her fiance and was determined to find her happiness in a new town. When Anna meets Detective Calvin Miller it doesn’t quite go as planned, he pulls her golden girl buddies over and lets just say Anna is now on Calvin’s radar.
Calvin was burned years ago when he thought he had found the one, she wasn’t. It has been awhile since he wanted to see someone but Anna has peaked his interest. What happens when Anna’s past comes to visit though will she stay or go?
This was another brilliant read from this talented author. I liked that Anna was real, she made a life choice that I think others have done at one time or another. I absolutely adored the golden girls, they were a hoot. Calvin is pure charisma…loved every moment of this book.
This was another good one in this series. I was definitely hooked from the beginning.
Anna left her whole life behind her when she found that money wasn’t making her happy anymore. She moves to a small little beach town and starts working in a bakery. She thinks she has finally found her peace.
Until she meets Calvin Miller…
Calvin Miller is a police detective who hasn’t had good luck with women. So his focused on his career and his dog. Then he meets Anna and he thinks maybe it’s time he got back into the world of living. But for some reason her parents and ex fiance won’t leave them alone and on top of that he is struggling to solve some murders. Will he be able to claim his women and solve the murders and deal with the rich snotty parents??
It was a good story. From the start. Anna was very brave leaving her wealthy life behind and finding something that makes her happy. And when she found it she didn’t let go. The ending was a surprise but a good one just wanted a bit more drawn out, but other than that another ARR book added to my list of Must Reads
I really enjoyed this book.
Anna is a woman who is trying to figure out who she is. She has been trying her entire life to please her parents but she has become a woman she is not proud of. After giving everything up, she moves to a small town to reevaluate her priorities. While doing so, she meets some of the most amazing and funny ladies. I would love to have friends like this. She has a great boss and job. She also catches the eye of Calvin the hot detective.
I liked Calvin right from the beginning. Even though he came off being a little harsh, he was doing it to protect her. Since then, he has been doing everything he can to make up for it. I loved that he was able to read her so well. He knew when to push and when to pull back.
I also really liked Calvin’s mom in this story. She was the perfect meddling mother!!
3.75-4 stars. This was really good! I have been kind of in a book funk and this was just what I needed to snap out of it. Hooking Him is the third book in the How to Catch an Alpha series and is Anna and Calvin’s book. Anna has recently moved to a small South Carolina town from Chicago, where she left an unhappy engagement, to find herself. She has a new best friend in her elderly, quirky landlady and a job working at the town bakery. She meets hot cop Calvin when her landlady is pulled over with her in the car on the way to bingo. He is interested in her right away, but she is reluctant to get into a new relationship. Still, he is convincing and the two soon fall in love.
This was just a fun, easy comfort read. I really liked Calvin and Anna. They were sweet and sexy together. Anna was not as immature or sassy as sometimes Ms. Reynold’s heroines are. I loved the SC beach town vibe and it reminded me of home, as I was born and raised there. The elderly, Golden Girls-esque ladies were a hoot, too.
Overall, this was a good story, entertaining, sweet, sexy and enjoyable. I think this one is my favorite of this series. I look forward to more from Ms. Reynolds in the future!
