I love my life. As owner and chef at one of the hottest restaurants, I know how to keep things sizzling in and out of the kitchen. What more could I ask for? But I’ll tell you what I didn’t ask for… a klutzy, curly-haired woman slamming into me with unicorn cake. Yes, you read that right—a damn cake decorated to look like the mythical creature bathed in every color of the rainbow. What could be … could be worse, right? I’ll tell you. My brother hired her to be my pastry chef. You’d think that would be my biggest problem, but that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Aside from her being one of the clumsiest women I’ve ever met, she turns me on like no other woman has. She tastes sweeter than anything she creates, and we make a great team in and out of the bedroom… I mean kitchen.
When we first met, I worried my restaurant wouldn’t survive her. Now I worry that my heart won’t.
I never wanted to fall in love, but sometimes life isn’t all unicorns and rainbows.

Hooked by Joanne Schwehm is book 5 in the Prescott Series. This is the story of Josh Prescott and Gia Russo. I haven’t yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Josh owns a very popular restaurant that he is the Chef at, which consumes his life and mind. Although he is close to his family there is no women that can compete with his restaurant. Gia is a fun, all rainbows and happy go lucky women that besides being clumsy wants to be a great Pastry Chef. They are really so much different in personality and of course since they are in close quarters they keep bumping into each other. But when they start to actually interact and learn about the other they start to want more than either thought they ever wanted.
Loved this book! I now have to read the others since I am so ‘hooded’ on this one.
Can you just say that I fell Hook, Line & Sinker for Josh Prescott. What a fantastic man, from the very first page right up to the last you can’t fall all over yourself fast enough to turn the page and swoon hard for this man. A Gentleman, A Restaurant Owner, A man who loves his family and man who literally bumps into someone who just might change his life.
Gia Russo is a bubbly, let’s just say clumsy fun pastry chef who is loving her life but what she doesn’t know is it’s not always rainbows and unicorns until she meets Josh.
Josh & Gia might have had a couple of odd encounters but when they start to get to know one another you can’t help feel the chemistry and the fun they seem to have every time they are together. Meeting this couple will leave a big smile on your face and hoping they can find that HEA that they both truly deserve is something you will definitely hope for them.
5 Stars
As much as I hate to admit it, this is the first book in the Prescott series that I’ve read. BUT…it definitely won’t be the last one. I adored this fabulous family and can’t wait to go back and read the others.
Josh Prescott , I need this man in my life. He cooks, he’s tatted, and he’s hot AF! I swooned so freaking hard over him. And Gia, I absolutely adored her quirkiness and I totally wished I had her talent to decorate a cake. These two met in a most unconventional way, but that made it all the sweeter. These two have major chemistry and definitely know how to heat up the kitchen .
I was definitely hooked from page one all the way until the end. Hooked is one of those stories that I did not want to end. I will say that even though I started with book five in the series, I was not lost in the least. A great read and I highly recommend it.

Gia just ran into Josh and dumped an entire cake all over him. And they are LIVE on TV doing promo for her cakes and his restaurant. Do you think he will be happy and hire her as his pastry chef?
No matter what, this is a done deal. His brother, and not so silent partner, had wanted to help him out and had already hired her for the job. What is a guy to do?
Gia and Josh are destined to either kill each other or end up in love. Gia is practically a virgin and Josh is a hound dog with no wish for relationships in sight. It is Gia’s special personality and sweet disposition that plagues Josh and gets under his skin. What starts to grow as a friendship inevitably develops into something profound as they work together catering a wedding. The two of them make for a power couple in and out of the kitchen ( or bedroom!).
Sweet and delicious, this romantic romp will delight you!
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy of this book.
What can I say you are all going to love meeting the hot sexy tattooed god Josh Prescott.
Josh Prescott is the fourth brother in this series, he sure gives his brothers a run for their money, His a very talented restaurant owner of Prism a high class restaurant that everyone wants to be seen in, thanks to Jack his brother he gets a slot on a TV show showing of his talents what he didn’t bargain for was meeting Gia Russo lets just say their first meeting will have you LOL its hilarious. And that’s not the only time they find themselves in a bad situation believe me.Gia ends up being Josh new pastry chef at Prism not by choice I might add, but his one and only rule is don’t date the staff but that proves really hard for Josh, the chemistry he has with Gia is hot as hell I can’t give to much away so you will have to read it to see if the smoking hot chef ends up with the very talented and clumsy Gia I hope you loved it as much as i did and will they get their HEA.
Let me just say that those Presscott biys really know how to woo a lady.
How to describe Josh….The man is sex in a chef’s jacket. PLUS he has a ton of ink!!! That alone amped his sexy factor. He also owns one the best resturant’s in the Virginia area. But there is so much more to Josh then his cooking skills. The man has a heart of gold and treats his staff like family.
Now there’s Gia, she’s beautiful and she doesn’t need make up or do her hair fancy. She’s a natural and she can bake like a boss.
When you first see them together your would never have thought they would be good together…But trust me this book will be worth it
OMG!!!! You know you’ve read another fantastic book by Joanne when you let out a deep sigh of contentment!! It started out with laughter and as i continued reading , my giggles were constant! Klutz meets chaos. Had such a fun and swoon air to it! So many wonderful emotions that will leave your heart full! And a sneak peek of whats to come next! Exciting to say the least!!
The heat is TURNED UP in the kitchen for sure! Call 9-1-1 because this Prescott family just gets hotter and hotter with each book. This series CANNOT be over…please!!
If you haven’t read the other standalones in the series, it’s ok. You’ll still love this book but make sure you go back and read the others. You will love all of their stories. In this one Josh and Gia’s mutual love for creating masterpieces in the kitchen kicks off their funny romance. I fell in love instantly. No spoilers here but this is another fabulous read by Joanne Schwehm. You will not be disappointed. You will want to share with your friends…and neighbors….and strangers!!
This book is nothing but pure unicorns and fairy dust while reading. I found myself laughing and loving on the tension between JOsh and Gia. I was absolutely hooked (no pun intended) from the first chapter and kept reading straight through. Truly this was the perfect escape romance for me to read and I highly recommend this read for everyone!!!
Hooked by Joanne Schwehm is the 5th book in her Prescott series. A standalone within the series, told in dual point of view, hilarious, romantic, swoon worthy and awesome.
Josh Prescott did NOT expect to get accosted by a unicorn cake and the beautiful woman who fell on him with said unicorn cake when he went on a morning talk show to promote his restaurant. He certainly didn’t expect to have his brother hire her as his new pastry chef. But the most shocking thing is when he realizes he can’t deny his attraction to her and has no idea what to do with this lusty attraction.
Gia just blew her chance at more customers and two days on a the perfect unicorn cake with a sheer act of clumsiness. Not to mention the hot and tattooed hunk of man that she dumped her cake on. Utter mortification doesn’t even begin to cover it. Running into him again at a job and falling into the pool with him does’t help things. Realizing he’s her new boss? The universe is just messing with her now.
This was my first book by Joanne Schwehm but it absolutely won’t be my last. Funny and romantic with just the right amount of angst and drama to make it utterly and completely amazing. Loved This! Enjoy!
As a huge fan of the Prescott gang, I could not wait for Josh’s story! I was definitely not disappointed. Josh and Gia are the cutest from the start. I love their first interaction – so adorably awkward. The chemistry is undeniable and electric.
Joanne has done an amazing job with these characters and this series. I’ve fallen in love with yet another Prescott brother. I would read about the Prescott family until we run out of relatives!
Oh these Prescott men!!!!
There is something about a guy who can cook…..and Josh Prescott can cook!!! What girl wouldn’t want a man who knows his way around a kitchen!!!
I loved Gia!!!! She was such a delight to get to “know” and watch her grow as a woman and as a pastry chef. I loved how she was a bit vulnerable but get her in a kitchen and she will rule it!!! I honestly want to try her desserts!!!!
Throw these two together and you’ve got FIREWORKS people!!!!
I have been dreaming about Josh ever since I began this magical journey with Joanne Schwehm and her “mythical characters” – The Prescott Family. I use these terms because they are just too dreamy. Josh is the youngest brother and the tattooed chef. His restaurant is where his loyalty lies. Relationships are just not on his radar. Gia has dreamed of studying in Paris and becoming a sought after Pastry Chef. She is really great with her measuring cups and mixers but the bedroom experience is only comme si, comme sa / (So-So). When these two characters bump into each other it is a match made in heaven, or is it? Of course they make a perfect team in the kitchen like a well oiled machine but then to experience the same outside of the kitchen just seems too good to be true. Doubts and fears have seeped into their minds to sabotage this team. I am routing for Team Josh and Gia and I am blowing my unicorn horn to show my resounding support for them.

I loved Josh and Gia’s story and another installment of the Prescott’s who happen to be one of my favorite book families of all time.
THOSE PRESCOTT BOYS THOUGH!!!!
I have been anxiously awaiting Josh’s book. I wanted this tattooed hottie’s book since forever, being the last single Prescott boy in the family, I knew his book was going to be yummy, both from his looks and the food he makes. Hooked is one of those books that will having you laughing so hard. I literally felt this heroines embarrassment so many times. The chemistry between Josh and Gia was amazing, everything fell into the most perfect pace, from meeting one another to working together and so on. I did like most of the story development, it just felt like the last 25% was rushed. I wish it could have been more drawn out, it would have been nice to see things play out more slowly, I would have had a better feel for the ending that way. Other than that, it was nice to see the previous Prescott brothers and get their take on things.
Josh Prescott is the man of my dreams. Being a chef he can cook anything. His loyalty lies within his business and his family. He is driven, and successful, and absolutely drool worthy.
Gia is me, and I am her. We are both the worlds biggest klutz. I love to bake, she loves to bake. She is witty and hilarious. She is in her own league all together. To be somewhat shy, she really blossoms like a flower around others.
After a very unusual meet and greet, Gia gets the opportunity of a lifetime to work with the award winning Chef Josh Prescott. They work more than well together, as they weeks pass they realize they are more alike than not. What is the worst that could happen?
*I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK
Both heat and humor with minimal angst; a must read for series fans
Interconnected standalones like the Prescott series are my favorite kind of series, plus I was a fan of the earlier books, so I was excited to get a chance to read this. As it’s been a while since I read those earlier books, I can verify the author did a nice job making this work as a standalone but I do think having read the earlier books would add to your experience here, especially as this seems to be the concluding book of the series.
I was a little leery at the start with the way Josh and Gia met—it’s easy for the-heroine-is-a-klutz storylines to get a little too slapstick for my taste, probably because I’ve been known to have a few klutzy moments myself and I tend to identify fairly strongly with the heroine, lol—but I should have trusted this author more. It was never overdone and I didn’t have one of those uncomfortable wincing moments where there’s just too much laughter at the heroine’s expense. In addition, the setup didn’t lead where I half expected because Josh is a truly good guy; he already had me even before he mentioned teachers cringing when he walked into a classroom because of older brother, Dane, but it really made me laugh remembering similar situations of my own. Josh and Gia had a spark from the beginning in spite of nearly being smothered in unicorn cake, but their employer/employee relationship has them both fighting the attraction—at least for a little while. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop, and Gia especially had some nice character growth as she gained confidence in both her personal and professional life.
For fans of the series, there were some sweet moments for Josh’s brothers and their ladies that made for a nice wrap up for their stories—though we got a tease instead of a real wrap up for Gretchen, so it appears a short story or novella is in the works for her. Besides family members, there were also a few other secondary characters to help fill out the story, and Natasha was a particular favorite.
One relatively minor quibble: I did find the conclusion of Josh and Gia’s personal storyline a bit too fast and a touch unsatisfying. Since this book is the conclusion of the series, I understand part of why the author made the choices she did, but compared to how much I enjoyed the rest of the book, the way they got back together just seemed a bit trite to me. It wasn’t enough to stop me from enjoying the book as a whole, however.
A must read for series fans, this was a fast, fun and enjoyable read with nice touches of both heat and humor, and with minimal angst, that made for a nice ending to the series (though I will be looking for that last follow up for Gretchen). 4.5 stars

When a curly-haired klutz accidentally smashes her unicorn cake into Josh’s chest, it’s the start of the one thing he’s spent his adult years avoiding – feelings and a relationship.
Although this owner chef/pastry chef duo has a rough start, their chemistry is too much for them to withstand, and they give in. But, can they sustain a relationship, which is something Josh has never had, nor wanted? Especially when Gia gives him an ultimatum that will cause him to make the hardest decision he’s ever faced?
I really liked Hooked. It’s fun and witty and so damn sexy, and one word – Josh! Josh made the story for me. He’s so sweet and protective and is one dirty-talking, dirty doing chef. Whew, he can cook for me any day! I had more of a problem with Gia, but only near the end when she forced Josh into making a decision he couldn’t possibly make that wouldn’t have horrible consequences either way. Before that, though, I thought she was fun and quirky and perfect for and with Josh. I haven’t read any of the other stories in this series, but after having read and loved Hooked, I plan on going and downloading the rest of the Prescotts, asap.
There was something about this story. It has everything I enjoy in a romance…
Humor – Check
Romance – Check
Awkward Moments – Check Check
Prescott Family Members – Indeed
There is not one thing that I did not like about this story.
Hooked by Joanne Schwehm is book 5 in the Prescott Series. This is Josh Prescott and Gia Russo’s story.
Wow! Josh and Gia’s story is full of feels, romance and heat. In previous Prescott books, we got hints of Josh but his own story gives us a great flair for who Josh is and its a swoon-worthy chef. I don’t want to give any spoilers away but know that this book will have you craving more Josh!! Gia is a deliciously sweet delight- as his klutzy Pastry chef. She is a sweet, sassy and intelligent woman who will have you rooting for her from the start.
This is a great read and a fabulous addition to the Prescott series. The plot, characters and feels will have you clamoring for more!!!
My Rating: 4.5 stars ****
