“Who knew a bad boy could mend a broken heart?”What does a girl do after she discovers her fiancé is a cheating bastard? In my case, I performed the ritual implosion of all scorned women. I drowned my sorrows in cases of white wine, wallowed in gallons of ice cream, and ignited a bonfire to burn away every damn remnant of his existence. Six months later, the only result was a permanent impression … permanent impression of my ass on the couch.
Adventure Dating my friends dared.
A new and exciting opportunity they said.
I thought they were crazy, but I’m not one to back down from a challenge, so I signed up for the entire four-week deal.
That’s where I saw HIM. Lucas Cummings. He isn’t the classic rich boy I usually end up with. The one whose idea of working up a sweat is waiting for his margarita to be served beachside. Nope. He’s a rough and tough bad boy that all fathers warn their daughters about. You know the type. Cocky swagger, chiseled jaw—the ‘V’.
SOLD, I said to myself, until I discovered he was so much more than just a BOXER.
Left Hook.
Right to the heart.
This is a Sexy Romantic Comedy standalone book in The Modern Love World. You do not need to read book one, The Bartender, in order to read The Boxer.

Once again this writing duo knocked it out of the park. The Boxer was everything sweet and fun that you want to find in your romance fiction, wrapped around a could of heart. BIG SMILES for this one!
Tahlia and Lucas have chemistry from the moment they meet. You can feel it in the story! Their journey is low angst and high passion. It’s a great read with lots of feels!
Loving this series. The banter between these two was amazing. And the girls just keep me laughing. So many surprises.
The Boxer is a five star read
I loved The Boxer! This book is a cute romantic comedy that flowed beautifully. I have enjoyed getting to know the characters in book 1 and even better in this book. Tahlia and Lucas are the most perfect couple, although Tahlia is so stubborn! And Lucas, oh Lucas…so HOT and the most perfect man! He is the bad boy after the good girl.
After Tahlia is heart broken by her fiancé cheating on her in their long term relationship, her best friends have had enough, they are determined to get her back out in the “casual” scene. She runs into The Boxer, Lucas Cummings and the sparks do fly, but the night does not go very well. Her best friends get her a subscription to an Adventure Dating Club for a month and her friends make a bet that she would not make it. When she runs into Lucas there, she starts to gets to know him and realizes that he is not the rich boy that she is used to but he puts his blood, sweat and tears in everything he does. Tahlia finds out that Lucas is keeping a secret from her. But will she be able to overcome this secret and keep the love?
This is my second read by Piper Rayne and I absolutely love both stories. The Boxer can be read as a standalone. It is the second book in the Modern Love series. If you love a good romance comedy this is the book for you! I can’t wait to get my hands on book 3.
Another ahhmazing book by the double unicorn duo!!! I was captured again by the words that they wrote and was pulled in to there world. I felt like I come back home and was getting updates on what was happening with my friends. I couldn’t put it down I finished it in one day, I actually forgot to eat!!! But it was so worth it!! I laughed so hard in this book!! And let me tell you I don’t care who Piper and Rayne are I just hope they keep writing together because when they do it’s pure magic!!! I’m guessing that I have read their individual books and they are brilliant but together pure blissful magic!! If you haven’t read The Bartender or The Boxer then you really need to both these books are just so ahhmazing and will make you laugh and have just the right amount of romance, humor, emotion.and anything else you want to make a perfect book!!! I can’t get enough of these two together and am not so patiently waiting on more from them!!! I have called dibs on all of their men just fyi…lol!! I am looking forward to see what they have in store for us and I know it is only great things from just their first two books and the unicorn cock!!! I mean come on people, how can you not except greatness from that so go read!!!! I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for The Banker!!!!!
I thought The Bartender was such a great story but The Boxer is my favorite of the series yet. I love the friendship shared between Talia, Lennon and Whitney. These girls have each other’s back through it all and when they head down to a boxing event and we’re introduced to Lucas… mmhmm Lucas is one boxer that I wouldn’t mind being a personal cheerleader for myself. I give Talia so much credit for putting herself out there again and not giving up even when she’s constantly finding herself around Aaron. Loved this story, it’s a great light and humorous read. I’m dying to get to Lennon’s story next. I absolutely love these girls.
Loved it so much, I got the book while on vacation! I wish there was a sequel to all the books. Like a part 2 or something.
Let me start off by saying this author duo is amazing! I loved The Bartender, the story between Whitney and Cole was fun, sexy and swoon worthy so I didn’t think they could top that. I was so WRONG to say the least. The Boxer was a KNOCK OUT! Lucas and Thalia had me so addicted to their story that I couldn’t put it down! Lucas is the sexy as hell, swoon worthy, bad boy boxer and Thalia is the sweet, lives by the rules, good girl just looking for the right guy who loves her for her. Lucas definitely wants to be that guy for her and the chemistry between these two is off the charts hot! If you are looking for a book that is going to pull you in and not let you go then you definitely don’t want to miss this one! Thank you Piper Rayne for another amazing book!
This is book 2 in the Modern Love series. Tahlia Santora was raised with money and to act properly at all times. She is also a Vice President in her family’s business, Santora Sausage. Lucas Cummings is an amateur boxer who also owns a boxing gym. After Tahlia spent six month wallowing in her pain and betrayal after breaking up with her cheating fiancée, her best friends drag her to a fight event where she meets Lucas. Lucas and Tahlia have instant chemistry and she likes that he’s so different from her rich entitled ex-fiancée. Tahlia has the most growing to do to get to the HEA in this book, though Lucas has some baggage of his own. I liked Lucas more than Tahlia and they may be why I did not connect as well to this story as I usually do with this author. Despite this, I enjoyed the interplay between the main characters as well as with the interactions with the secondary characters. This book has a little bit of everything – sweet moments, sexy times, strong friendships, painful pasts, and funny scenes. It is worth reading the rest of this series.
The author definitely sucked me into book two just as much as they did with book one. I’ve already bought book three because they left me on a cliffhanger wanting to know what the text was all about. In Hooked on the Boxer, we get to follow the story of Tahlia and how she falls for someone so out of her comfort zone, it is actually pretty perfect. As a romance reader, I definitely fell for the alpha in Lucas and everything he brought to the book. I had moments of laughter, moments where I had to fan my face from the steam, as well as my heart aching a little bit for the things our main character had been through. I am loving this series and if you’ve read the first one, you better also read this one.
Amazing book
Tahlia what a lucky lady, Lucas was a sex God to her. I was so happy to see Tahlia tell chase where to go in regards to them being over. It was great catching up with cole , Whitney and Lennon as well. I think tahlia may have loosened up her prim and compulsive ways and a sexy boxerwas the cause of that.
My favorite out of the serious!! Love it! Hilarious & perfect love story!! Love this author & will read anything she writes!!!

This was such an enjoyable read which I devoured and definitely recommend getting your hands on!
I’d say it was a lighthearted story even though there were some ups and downs. It was full of funny and witty comments as well as hot, lovely and bittersweet moments. So it was the full package and an awesome read! I absolutely loved the writing, the characters and the whole storyline. I liked it even better than the first book which was still really great!
The Story:
After Thalia discovered that her fiancé cheated on her, her world fell apart. Usually being the organized one of her friends, she now is a complete mess.
Her friends – always the helpful ones – dare her to participate in Adventure Dating and drag her to a boxing show. What Thalia doesn’t count on is the gorgeous underdog who has his eyes set on her and her panties soaked by just looking at him. That she’ll make a complete fool of herself wasn’t in the plan though and after this mortifying night she’s sure to never see him again.
Fate has them crossing paths again but the circumstances don’t allow them to give in to their desire. Although Lucas would for sure be an adventure for Thalia since he’s the complete opposite from her ex. She has always been around those perfect guys and now she can’t seem to forget this rugged boxer with his piercing green eyes. Will Thalia now bet on the underdog or play it safe?
Thoughts:
I actually didn’t think that I would like this book so much because I wasn’t sure on the boxer theme but oh was I wrong. I was hooked from the start and couldn’t put my kindle down.
We met Thalia and her fiancé, or I should say ex-fiancé, already in the first book and I worried that she would be like all for the money but she was such a sweet character! No matter what happened, she always got up again and I believe that she found the perfect match in Lucas. There was only one time where I was a bit annoyed at Thalia because she didn’t show any sympathy due to her anger and in this certain situation I think it would have been appropriate to put the anger aside for a while.
OK, first off, Lucas Cummings was not the typical boxer I thought he would be but I loved him. He’s, hands down, one of the hottest book boyfriends. The thing is, he wasn’t at all what he seemed to be but so much more. He’s gorgeous, sweet, funny, protective and not without faults – a real human guy. Well, not real real but you get what I mean. So, where do I find a guy like Lucas Cummings for myself? Because I want one! Oh man! He really had me on the first sight. *sigh*
Oh, btw, I don’t know if something like Adventure Dating really exists but this was such a great idea. I loved it!
Tahlia Santora used to have the perfect life, but for the past 6 months she’s been nursing the collapse of a 7 year relationship, just months away from her wedding. It is at that time that her 2 best friends stage a kind of intervention and gift her a month of Adventure Dating, which she accepts on a dare.
Lucas had met Tahlia during her first, rather catastrophic outing with her friends, but he never expected to find her on this particular line…
After her recent relationship failure, Tahlia is looking for something different from her previous boyfriends and finds herself attracted to the confident, hardworking guy who dresses in denim and tattered t-shirts instead of business suits and expensive watches.
Once again the authors deliver a nice, fun and very sexy read. I enjoyed the main characters, their incredible chemistry and their interactions, as well as the secondary characters. The one thing that threw me a little off was that I found the storyline a bit similar to the first book in the series, but it’s still a cute story and can be read as a standalone.

Loved it!
You can easily read this book as a stand alone even though it’s the second in the Modern Love series. This is a love story between Tahlia and Lucas, but I would like to point out the fabulous friendship between Whitney, Tahlia and Lennon. This friendship is something to be envied! Go sisterhood. Now for the relationship between Lucas and Tahlia…. I loved Lucas’ sweetness and his alpah side, how he steps up without needing to be asked. I loved the perseverance of Tahlia, she may have been down but never out! Can’t wait to read Lennon’s story next! Well done Piper and Rayne, well done!
4.5*
It’s been a rough couple of weeks in my real world so it was nice to escape into the fun fictional world of The Boxer for a day. I needed the laughs with Tahlia and her girls, and the sweet sexiness of Lucas. Sometimes there’s just nothing better than a light-hearted romcom to get you out of your own head and this book was just what I needed.
I loved the instant connection Tahlia and Lucas had and I laughed at how things didn’t work out quite how they both planned at that first meeting. Poor Tahlia, the girl could not catch a break. Thinking she’ll never see or hear from him again, and still trying to get over her broken engagement, Tahlia decides to go through with the challenge her best friends throw at her and sets out to have a little fun.
And who just happens to be mixed up in all that fun but Lucas himself! As Tahlia and Lucas spend more and more time together things between them heat up and soon a relationship starts to develop. But they both have secrets they are keeping from each other and that could quite possibly put an end to something very special.
Light on angst and drama, high on swoon and fun, The Boxer is a really entertaining read. Tahlia and Lucas are so good together, opposites it would seem, but perfect for each other. I think I may love this book just a bit more than The Bartender. And can I just say how freaking excited I am for Lennon’s book?!? I’m so hoping to see that girl knocked off her feet!
Another fabulous read from Piper Rayne! I fell in love with The Bartender and was not sure how The Boxer would compete! This is Tahlia’s story and I was a little hesitant as I found her a little stiff in The Bartender. However, this book did not disappoint. Tahlia was so much more than I bargained for and I loved how she let her walls down for the right guy! FABULOUS story!
